Welcome to Ravenclaw House, all students of Hogwarts. For those who have been chosen by the Sorting Hat, I welcome you. Hope you enjoy your stay. And we're looking for a new bludger for the Quiditch team.

All I got is this broken pool cue that I found lying in the bushes outside the billiard room. Looks like it was already used as a bludgeon.

Bombadil - sigh - turn the book over and keep reading....
Though perhaps you could be Ravenclaw's first bludger with a bludgeon - all hail onomatopoeia!

Alright, but you have to give us all a ride sometimes. I've only got a Nimbus 2000.

Of course!
=======Quidditch Practice=======

It was late afternoon when Jacquelyn hurried from Transfiguration to the Ravenclaw common room. She dropped her books, parchments, and quills off at her bunk and picked up her broomstick, a Thunderbolt. She waved a quick hello to a friend before scurrying out to the Quidditch field.

The team captain and a few of the others were already present when she arrived.

"What took so long?" said the team captain.

"Sorry, Prof. McGonagall held us after a bit." Jacquelyn gave a playful grimace before mounting her Thunderbolt.

PS- I helped out the others Houses by starting their Common rooms for them. Maybe we'll have some competition!

Well it looks like we're in the lead for the interhouse championship. No one else has done anything yet

Hi everyone, I finally got around to joining a house. So, any Quiddich positions left?

Every position is still open; try-outs will be held in due course, once we have enough for a team.

Can I join in the fun at the Ravenclaw house? I would love to play Quidditch, whatever position! I just got a new broom that I'm eager to try out on the field!

The Gryffindors just need one more player! Let's try and dig up some recruits. We can't let them win by default.

Jacquelyn is called to Professor Flitwick's office soon after the sorting of the first years. She enters and sees the house Patron on his side of the desk, a broad smile gracing his face as he sees her enter. "Jacquelyn, Very good of you to come. Yes, very good indeed. I called you here to help This new student."
The robed figure in the chair slowly rises, his dark blue robes blended him so well with the chair, his presence barely registered. Now she wonders why she didn't sense him as he stretches to his full 6,4 height. Broad shoulders seem to fill the room as he bows in respect to her, gently taking her hand and kissing it."I am Frederick Coldsnap, Lady Jacquelyn. It is an honor."
The Professor clears his throat. "I'm trusting you, My dear, to show him around since he will be joining Ravenclaw. He has a room at the end of the hall, special for him. I hope both have a good evening." He says as he ushers them both out.

Hjal,

Is there a quick and easy way to show the posts like that? I have a little of the original Elijah Wood thread saved, but I'd have to edit it a lot to get it into that format.

P.S. The Harry Potter books rock!

Nyph,

I think that I just copied the page and pasted it into Word as unformated text. That gave me something like this:

Then I deleted most of the administrative doodah at the top and bottom. I think that I used Edit|Replace to get rid of the repetitive stuff, like "Report this post to a moderator | IP: Logged"

Then I deleted most of the blank lines and some other non-information. I would get this from the above: Niphredil

09-05-2002 04:00 PMIt's easier to do with a page formated for printing, if that's the way you saved it, rather than html. That's where the inelegant lines came from, I think.

This would be even better, I think--but it would be more work: Niphredil, 09-05-2002 04:00 PM

Hjal, it always makes me feel a bit sad when you post that. :( This is the second time we've lost our history.

Sigh :( I feel the same way Kristin. Hugs everyone

But maybe with these wonderful archivists we can preserve some of it

I wish I could go back and read the first discussions of GoF, when everybody had just read it and it was fresh.

Or just the early days. The dynamic was much different then. We had very few young people and more older posters. *sigh*

I saved the first eleven pages of the first Ravenclaw (about 500K), and a few pages of The Saga and Sequel, since there was a warning that MI was going down. Nobody else agreed to handle other threads, at least not in a post, and there wasn't much interest when I put the old stuff up in the new location.

With the 10,000 character limit it would take me 50 to 100 posts just to get this stuff up, and I'm not actually interested in it--I was trying to do a public service. Maybe I can post it as attachments in bigger blocks? Or I could e-mail it to somebody with a website or time to edit an repost.

I just wish I had copied more of my own posts. I have never really kept a jounal, but I wrote more about my life here than anywhere else, and it would give me the start of a personal and family history for my girls.

I hope that Deagol's backup becomes available.

It really stinks when things like this happen, especially if you've already done it, like most of us have. Maybe the old colors would make us feel better :)
