Well about 3 months ago, i wrote to Daniel Ratcliff (Harry) and Christopher Columbus (director) asking if i could be in the Chamber of Secrets as an extra, nothing big.

Well today i got a response...

I just got a picture of Harry, signed by Daniel Ratcliff. LOL i guess they didnt care. Oh well, i knew they wouldnt and I found out that you had to live in London to even audition. But i thought the signed photo and 'Best Wishes' card was nice. :D

I think the "British only" rule is a little silly... I know tons of Americans that can use a perfectly convincing British accent. And look at LotR: there are Americans in that movie, and the only person whose accent sticks out is Billy Boyd! :p And he's not even American. Accents can be faked easily: look at Elijah Wood.

Well accents aren't even an issue if you're an extra.

When they're putting 500 kids in the Great Hall, you can't tell if they're British or American or Australian or whatever. My guess is that they have the "London only" rule to keep things as simple as possible. They'll have more kids than they could possibly need just from that one city. Imagine if they opened it up to the whole of Britain or the whole world! They'd be swamped!!!!

Not that I think their decision is fair. I wish everybody who wanted to be an extra could be one. I'd love to be a witch shopping in Diagon Alley! :D

well an autographed picture of Radcliffe is definitely nothing to sneer at. But you know what would be even better?

A knock on the door...you open it up to find Rupert Grint at your doorstep, with a pic of himself, he signs it, gives you that cute grin and says bye... thats a great picture to have.
