He's also fat, slow, and very very old... we both love cat and will miss him a great deal when he's gone :( but I'm already hoping to get one of the good mousers from the farm down the hill next time we look for a cat :) (We tried inviting a few in - one at a time - when they came mousing in our yard after their own field was picked clean of mice, but like most old cats ours wants to be the sole master of his house and humans... so we'll have to make do with the Have-a-Heart trap and sentences of exile to suburbia while cat lives.)

I got finished the Sunday after it came out, which is very good considering I had to work from 9 in the morning to 10 at night and I didn't stay up all night reading, nor did I get up that early...okay, 5:30, but I didn't get the book 'til seven. And I hardly read at all at night, don't know why I tortured myself, but that's the way it was.:D

I decided to make myself comfortable here, since I always got Gryffindor when doing Sorting Hat quizzes... besides, I'm already in Gryffindor at FictionAlley...

I currently sail on the Ginny/Draco ship, Hermione/Draco (...does Lucius know?), Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny... I don't do slash (you know, Ginny/Hermione) or twincest (Parvati/Padma, Fred/George) or teacher-student...

In answer to your question, Chiana... I like Oliver's character. Sean Biggerstaff as Oliver helped a lot though... that accent...

Now here's a question for everyone: after reading Order of the Phoenix, did you sympathise more with Neville's character, or do you feel exactly the same as you did with books 1, 2, 3 and 4?
I'm putting my answer in a spoiler, in case some people haven't read the book...

As soon as I saw Neville's parents and his situation, I melted. It was so sad when he pocketed the gum wrapper his mother gave him - a classic example of wanting to be protected by his parents. But I think Neville's a strong character - we see that at the end. He's got this inner core of strength that we won't always see...

Well, that's it from me. I don't usually hang around here that often, so don't expect to see me around all the time.

Fyre, my sympathies went out to Neville as soon as Dumbledore (and his pensieve) told Harry the basics of his family situation back in GoF. My dad was ill through most of my childhood; opposite to Neville's parents, his body was failing him while his mind remained intact, but this gives me an inkling of how much more difficult it must be for a child to grow up with both parents incurably ill... Harry's parents were killed, yeah, but Neville's continue to suffer, and the rest of the Longbottoms along with them. :(

Neville is to me a person to pity but also a person to admire. He has always been a rock even though no one saw it. I feel that I admire him more then ever for his bravery. But I also feel that a person should never have to suffer through what he has had to so for that I also admire him. But I believe the thing to most admire Neville for is how he can stand up to and for his friends no matter the odds

We're all bits of all four really... my gaming buddy is ashamed she sorted into Slytherin but I point out to her that ambition and a willingness to do whatever is needed aren't always bad (especially for a single mom trying to support 2 kids financially and emotionally as she's doing). I like to joke that I'm here because I'm too dumb for Ravenclaw, too lazy for Hufflepuff, and possess not a drop of ambition :) but looking back I've found the virtues of all four Houses within myself when they were needed most, so I suspect it is for most people. (In case anyone's wondering, spouse sorted to Ravenclaw; no surprise there given he's co-owner of one patent and has another - entirely unrelated to the first - pending.)

I've had a BAD day...:(

I woke up feeling happy - was going out with my best friend and her ex, a guy who I (( don't know whether I )) fancy, and he fancies me too. (( At least I think so! ))

Watched Hidalgo. They weren't talking to each other.

Before all of you think that I'm a total jerk, I DID NOT CAUSE THEIR BREAKUP!!! It was a thing which happened, and I must say that I had one hell of a time counseling the both of them.

But well...there's this other guy that I like...a lot. A LOT, A LOT. As in a Mumakil sized crush. Horrific. And I actually liked my best friend's ex before...well...they started dating. And when they did, I just went plop for this other guy.

And then...I am totally confused. Details, some I can't spill. But needed someplace to unload all of this.

So, as I was saying, we were watching Hidalgo, they weren't talking cause' they were mad at each other. And I TRIED to make them talk. But it didn't seem to work. But well...now he's angry with her and she's ... I dunno...

God...I should have never asked them both to come out at the same time...I just thought that I could make them friends again...:(

Now I feel like a total major dumb person.

Well, the Canadians have had theirs already (the lucky bums ;))... we're not hosting the dinner for spouse's mom's side of the family this year, so all I need to worry about making is a pie and maybe a side dish. Should be a fair bit more relaxing than the years we have hosted and I spent the night before T-Day baking and the day itself fussing over the bird and gravy. While the in-laws do include an increasing number of veg*ns, I think there are still enough omnivores in the bunch that there will be a turkey again this year (in case other omnis are wondering, I made quiche for the non-neat-eaters the couple of times I've hosted T-Day.) Mmmm... should be a meal to look forward to. :)

Naw, you Americans enjoy it and all, the pumpkin pie and turkey sounds like an interesting combination! We'll just enjoy our dawning summer instead, I suppose, and hope for a few less bushfires this year! Fingers crossed! :)

Ooo...the thought of pumpkin pie makes my mouth water.....yummy...You're missing out Xaz! ;) Usually I'll try to help my mom in the kitchen, but she usually kicks me out of the kitchen, it's rather small. Usually I'm a bit more of a nuisance than help :P
