Front Page - help required

As you may have noticed, we are hoping in the very near to move to our own site

What we need is a really brilliant Introduction for the front page

well a halfway decent one anyway

So if you want to be immortalised - submit you entries now

MI history - Readers Digest version


First appeared as a forum of Imladris early 2000

After the move to CofE we then became our own site in 2002 and after a couple of months of independance we crashed

That led to resuming at Cof E with the resurrection of our own site in the very near future

alqua, The Muggle Informer is what the Harry Potter pages used to be called when they had their own site. When you think purple, think Muggle Informer.

Yeah, fan fiction :D We never had a fan fiction section before! oh and a fan art? I'm only asking, but it'd be lovely :)

We can have just about anything you want, since we are planning it from the ground up. But there has to be an interest in submitting fan art and fanfic, not just an interest for viewing it. I can't make everything up! :D

If people have submissions they would like for fan art they can email them to gallery@muggleinformer.net. If I get enough, I will definitely put a page up.

Same goes for fan fic. Elfëa, does that thread still exist? I would like to take a look at it, but I am having trouble hunting it down. The thing about fan fic is that someone would have to moderate it and act as editor. If you can get someone to do that, I will consider a fan fic page.

This site is all about what you guys want, so just let me know if you have requests. Once we get the discussion board up and start advertising it on the Internet I think we will have quite a large interest. So get in your requests now before I get too busy to be able to fulfill them! ;) :LOL:

I, for starters, could submit two other pieces, which should be PG rated. :) But, the editing... :( editing fics not that easy :o I would offer to do it, but I'm crap at editing anything - I rather have betas to help me do that :p (and I've, sadly, become really picky about what I read...)
I know there are loads of people (FleurD, Ravenclaw) who have fics on other sites... :p (and those who have their fics on FictionAlley, have them pretty well moderated and edited. It took me two tries to get mine there... :o)

And I also found HP related fanart (http://www.council-of-elrond.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2230). :)

I can edit if no one else wants to...but does that mean just spelling/grammar or what? Does that mean things like character and pacing and accuracy, things that perhaps the authors should correct themselves?

Yes, it would just be checking spelling and grammar--oh, and that the content fits our PG rating. The other elements of the story are up to the author.

I have zillions of fan fictions, a few people reviewed my old ones on ff.net (when I wrote pg rated fics when I was younger ;) ) and said my After Hogwarts series was famous. I got scared... :eek:

I will be working tonight on what the board introduction will be. Thanks for all of the suggestions! Don't be disappointed if butterbeer is not mentioned. :D

We have been discussing what to do about fan fic and come up with the this plan. There will be a forum on the discussion board for you to post fics you are working on and get comments and suggestions. There will also be a section on the front page for fan fics that are finished works.

So, I will be PMing those of you who have expressed and interest in helping to see what you want to help with. We will need someone (or more than one person) to moderate the fan fic forum and someone (or more than one person) to monitor the mailbox for submissions and edit/approve them.

This way, people who don't want their work on the front page can still post it to the forum, and people who will visit our home page but not visit the discussion board can still submit things to our collection.

Whew! I hope that is not confusing. If anyone else is interested in helping, post here or PM me. Since things are pretty busy with setting up the board, I might not get all of the fan fic stuff set up before we go live, but it will definitely be done shortly thereafter. :)

Actually, the Muggle Informer was a separate site first. It was at muggleinformer.com. I was a mod at the Pony at Imladris when it was created. Aram was working on it and I accidently found it. I had the first post there asking him what he was doing. :) This was sometime between March and August of 2000. Dr. Evil was the only mod at that site. Later on Aram closed that site and made the MI forums at Imladris.

So this is actually the third time the muggles have had their own site. :)
