Voldemort'sWand

This site was born on September 4, 2002. The Council-of-Elrond was created by Melkor to continue the community that had developed over three and a half years at Imladris.net. While this site does contain many of the familiar faces and a similar set up, this is not Imladris. We have a new owner with his own vision of what this site is and what it will become. There are many sections to the site, and there will be more in the future. We invite you to check out all of it. All are welcome here who abide the rules.
What are we allowed to post?
Nude graphics of any kind are not allowed. This includes posting of them on the board or sending them via the site's PM or email systems.
Members may post a link in their profile to their personal web site if the site is considered suitable for ages 13 and older, however links to any fan fiction sites or online journals are not allowed.
No spamming, advertising or soliciting. This includes the board's private messaging and email system.
No posting of illegal material whatsoever, which would include screen caps from pirated copies of movies or dvds that have not been released yet. This will be strictly enforced by the moderators and admins.
Take time to examine other web sites before posting links to them to ensure that they do not contain content that is above our PG (http://www.information-entertainment.com/Television/tvratings.html) rating. If you post links to sites that contain above PG content, your post will be edited and you may receive a warning. Intentionally hiding links to sites that contain above PG content may be considered basis for banning. Fan fiction sites contain material that is above PG content, so you may not mention them or link to them. Content in online blogs and journals is unrestricted, therefore you may not link to any, not even your own. Also, a non-clickable link is considered the same as a clickable link here.
Please use the spoiler vbcode [ s ][ /s ] to post spoilers. Exceptions: most threads in the LotR Movie and Harry Potter Movie forums.
Language and Content
Keep the conversations clean at all times. There is an auto-censor activated for certain swear words. Please just type your words in full to the reply window. If it is restricted, it will show up in the thread as !!!!. Do not deliberately mistype a word to get around the censor. Your post will be edited, and you may receive a warning.
The moderators reserve the right to edit or delete any post that is deemed inappropriate or inflamatory. Anyone who questions the decision of a moderator regarding an edited post or warning may be banned.
:) Smiley when you say that! :)
Choose your words carefully, even if they are in jest. There is no need to be rude or vulgar. Do not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, pornographic, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Leave hatred, bigotry, and intolerance of other people's beliefs outside this fair place. Keep personal quarrels off the boards. This includes the board's private messages, email system, and the chat room.
Lively debates are encouraged, but remember to comment on the post, not the poster. Keep debates civil. Flaming is not allowed.
We have a wide range of ages within our community here, from young teens to grandparents. Net-Speak may be easier to type, but it is not always understood by all ages. We also have members from several countries around the world where the native language is not English. Please keep that in mind.
Do not respond to trolls or flames.
Any member who feels that any posted message is in violation of the rules, or the spirit of the rules, is asked to contact the moderators by clicking on the "Report this post to a moderator" graphic http://www.council-of-elrond.com/forums/images/buttons/blueshadowed/report.gif, found on each post. The moderators will determine if any action is necessary.
We usually go by a "three strikes you're out" policy. The decision is up to the moderators of the forum and the administrators of the site. Having another member plead your case, whether in the forums or via email or private message, could result in that member also losing their posting privileges.
What is "Post Slutting"?
Posting solely to raise your post count, the total posts of a thread or a forum, posting one word replies, double posting, or replies that have nothing to do with the discussion at hand will be considered "post slutting". Post Slutting is frowned upon. Anyone perceived to be post slutting will receive a warning. 3 such warnings may result in your posting privileges being suspended for up to one week.
Signatures
Limit signatures to no longer than 9 lines in regular size font, 11 lines in size 1 font. This includes blank lines. The use of larger fonts in signatures is discouraged. If you do use larger fonts, you may be asked to change it if there are complaints. URL links to sections within the Muggle Informer or to our sister site The Council-of-Elrond (http://www.council-of-elrond.com) are permitted, but other outside links are not.
Photos and graphics other than the stock smilies are not permitted in signatures.
