I think it'd be good to have a place here to come in and pray and try to offer comfort in bad times. I'm a Christian but if anyone of other faiths wants to come in and use it, they may.:) (This is not, however intended for any kinds of debates about religions, k?)
So, I'll start it off (and I'm lousy at praying out loud, so um, deal with it:))
I'd like to pray for our troops; that God would watch over them and protect them.
For our leaders; that God would give them wisdom and grace in their decisions.
And for the Iraqi people; most of whom I'm sure don't want to be involved in this.

A prayer:
May those that we love come home safe,
May those who we have yet to meet return to their loved ones as well,
May the suffering that is the province of war be of short duration,
May the rebuilding and healing follow swiftly on the heels of this sad event,
May we look forward beyond our differences and embrace each other as brother and sister so that this never happens again

Ah, the power of posetive thinking... A marvelous thing.
I'm not one for religion, therefor I'm not one for praying, but there are times when you need to ask someone for devine help, whether it works or not.
I hope that as soldiers march off unwillingly into battle, that they remember that though they are fighting them, the Iraqis or the Americans (depending) are not the enemy. That they realize though they fire their machine guns and tanks in order to defend what they believe in (or what they don't), the 'other side' is not really that different from they are, at heart.
I hope that this terrible event doesn't spark the age-old evil of hate and racism among any peoples who walk the fields of this green earth.
I hope that those who have sinned, whether biblically or other, realize it and can forgive themselves. For one can't be forgiven by others until he forgives himself.
I hope that these hard times do not last longer than the life of a dove, who flickers in and out of existance like a candle's flame in the wind.
I hope that someday, man can understand his brothers, scattered across the earth, seperated only by falacies of differences that the evil minds of yesteryear planted inside their heads.
And most of all, I hope that as wounds blossom in the flesh and hearts of innocents, so will their spirits and faith, like a beautiful flower, reaching to taste the sweet necter of sunlight in this dark world.

I don't pray, as I don't believe.
But
I wish for peace.

This is a wonderful idea :) to lithorose
That there may be comfort for all those who live in fear.
That there may be courage given to those so that they may face and be strong in what is to come.
That we should come to understand that we are all of the one family of humans, sharing the one beautiful home, and our similarities are far far greater than our differences. And each one of us is unique, and each one of us precious.
That everyone may feel and understand a healing power of love.

And here I was, thinking we were all gonna get married here. ;)
I want to pray for the aforementioned, as well as the leaders of our countries. Their positions aren't easy and their way isn't straight, but by gum they're doing what they feel is right and putting up with a crapload of criticism. I pray that they make the right decisions and end this war as soon as possible.
