I already know that J.K.Rowling has made all 7 books, but i think it would be really fun if she made an encyclopedia (however it's spelled) with Wizard words and all. Or if she made books about what happened to the survivors (Of course people are going to die!) and how their kids get into Hogwarts and stuff. That would be neat!

 Hey! Wow.. haven't seen your name for a while. :D

I would LOVE for JK Rowling to write "Hogwarts, A History"

I've love to see a series of James, Sirius, Lupin, and Snape's school days, too, but I don't see that happening. ;)

I agree with you Colli (there aren't many things we DON'T agree on!) that it would be neat for JKR to go back and write a series with the Marauders and Co. after she's done with this seven book series. It would be so cool to be able to put everything in perspective... even though we know what happens later on!

Xazinon

That WOULD be pretty neat, especially the stuff that happened before a certain Harry Potter emerged onto the scene.
The stuff after would be harder to judge, because we don't know how the series will end up, entirely: perhaps Hogwarts will get burnt down, or closed, or something dramatic like that!

I'd be interested in the History not just of Hogwarts, but Diagon Alley and the Leaky Cauldron, and all the other wizardy places: probably because I'm a history student and I like that kind of thing, hehe! Twould be so very cool..... *sigh*

Well, SOMEONE watches too much Buffy the Vampire Slayer, don't they? ;)

Really, it's far more likely that Harry will meet up with some strange guy in cool sunglasses, and through a series of circumstances eventually find out that it has all been a dream and that he is really living in a horrible, post-apocalyptic world! :D

Lockhart? Pathetic? But he's oh so handsome! And he does such lovely memory charms! I think we can forgive patheticness in favour of his continuing hilarity. Good ol' Lockhart! :)

Is there an echo in here? ;)
Someone must watch Matrix alittle too much!

I'd really like to see the lives of Ron, Harry, and Hermiopne after they graduate. Though I know J.K. Rowling said somewhere that she was only willing to do seven books. :( I'd like to Ron as a quidditch player for the cannons, Hermione as the auroa*, and Harry as the new DAtDA teacher!!! But we know that will never happen:(

Don't be sad Chiana... you could just read fanfiction (hush, Colli, I'm working on it! Writer's block stinks! :p) and get the tales of well Hogwarts and Beyond!! hehe ;)

Dont get me wrong Star, I love Harry Potter fan fiction. I'd would just really like to see how Rowling would put things after Hogwarts. Everyone who writes the fics have great ideas, I just wanna see hers too :)

I've thought about trying at a HP fan fic but perhaps I might leave it to the ....ABLE writers. I have a rather nasty grade in English, blasted mechanics!

Ahhh, but that is what we beat readers are for, my dear. We help out with those nasty mechanics! And some of us (:cough:Colli:cough: ) have a tendency to swoon and drool over each other works ;)

Yes, Hogwarts a history would be bloody marvellous! :D

Or a mini book on Fred and George's adventures, or yes, or the Mauraders.

I wrote a fan fic called After Hogwarts, it was my first one when I was an ickle newbie at the age of 13.... Hermione got pregnant by Ron, something happened to Dumbledore... I thought it was good at the time... Got lots of reviews for some reason beyond me...

Xaz takes a deep breath and yells.

X: "ECHO!"

There is a silence, and then a sound comes drifting back

"ECHO? Try something more original next time, time, time..."

Hmm, you may be right Chiana. ;)

LOL, I've only actually seen The Matrix two or three times, but I couldn't resist the gag: actually I didn't really like the movie nearly as much after the first time I saw it. Go figure. *shrugs*

I guess seeing them after they graduate would be interesting, but it's difficult as well: you have to assume for that they all graduate! ;) I probably would like to see what happens after, but I think I'm going to reserve that judgement till I see what happens in the next three books. :)

Mwahahah... and you don't want to read my post-Hogwarts fic... :p

And, it's not even slash... ;) (BUT very strongly rated as R...)

Hmm... I don't actually want to see how it turns out. However cool it'd be. I've read fanfics, that I actually are better (Or rather, I like the style more) than JKR's. So, sue me :p That's my opinion. By so far. ;)

I wouldn't mind Hogwarts, A History tho... ;) I'd really really want to know if Remus and Sirius had this hot mad love-affair ;)

Well, okay, if you've read a lot of fanfics about what happens after, I can understand you wanting to know what happens for real. :)

I don't generally read a lot of fanfic: sometimes I find that I get a changed picture of the character in my mind as a result, and not always in a good way. Yes, I realise that is very boring but, yknow, I think it probably helps me appreciate the books a bit better. :)

Anyone reading this who has written fanfic, I'm sure it's excellent: no doubt you're all very talented people! It's just not generally for me, though I don't mind the odd bit. No offense meant, I promise! :D

Mwahaha... I write fanfic...

but I've been lazy lately, and too catch up with my original writings...

I admit that fanfiction can change your attitude towards character - Draco and Snape are wonderful examples! - Fanon Draco is often the redeemed ice-prince... (because of few good, famous fics and everyone copying them...)
However, I think that a fanfic writer HAS TO know the canon better than most, in order to write reliable, good fanfiction. And not to mention, have the ability to write interestingly enough. :) And that's a skill only few people really come with.
I'm not one of them.

I must admit I do rather like to see Draco written as a semi-good guy once in a while. But then I read the occasional boil your blood Malfoy fic and I realize, depending on the writer he can be agood read, either way. :)

Maybe I should try my hand at the fan fiction....begins to plot.... :o ;) :) :D

I dunno Elfea, you seem pretty smart to me! And with all that Literature stuff that you're doing, I reckon that you'd be quite good at writing fan fiction. The fact that you're hard enough on yourself to say you don't have that mentioned ability is a good sign that you have at least some idea as to what you're doing! :)

For one of my Children's Literature assignments, I rewrote a scene in Harry Potter from the perspective of Draco Malfoy. It wasn't particularly easy, especially as I only got 500 words to do so, but it was pretty fun! I liked it originally, but reading it back I'm not so sure that it was that good: certainly an interesting experiment to have a go at though! :)

You think I should post it hmm, despite my reservations about its quality? Well, you seem interested. I'll think about it. :)

Different styles are difficult: I always have trouble trying to write in a certain style. The major problems I usually have is when I'm supposed to write something serious: I find it very hard to resist attempting to put some satire in there somewhere, as you may have noted from The Saga. ;)

I suppose being able to write different styles makes you more rounded as a writer and gives you different persepectives on the stuff you have already written, which is an advantage. It would also point out to you which styles you may be best suited to, I imagine. But I don't think you would have to be incredibly proficient in all of them to be a good writer: if you're good with one style, that should probably be your go, and use the other styles to flesh it out a little. :)
I realise that this is not really the point of Creative Writing, but I wouldn't think too many writers are successful writing in a heap of different styles.

I dunno... that's just my opinion. Correct me if you want: I find it an interesting point, and don't mind discussing it at all. :)

I think that there is somewhat of a feeling, in many areas, that it is only when you start to try and do something that you realise how far it is that you really have to go. I've had guitar lessons for about 2 years, and it's only now that I realise just how good some of those guys like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton are... absolute geniuses! :notworthy:
In some ways, it's kinda like I'm almost worse than when I started: I didn't really know then how much talent it really takes. I suppose being a bit of a perfectionist doesn't help, but yeah, you get my point. :)

C'mon, we others have posted our stories there :p Including me...

Something serious, as essays? Or some story, with serious theme? I think only such works as essays need to avoid obvious ;) satires/humor...
I can't write humour properly, that's my flaw... :o

No, actually, it's one point of Creative Writing, one which we don't discuss enough in the class. Partly because everyone has a different style. However, when I started the class, I myself stated that I want to be able to write different stories, not only stories that are stuck in one style - it gets monoteneus- for example, if you read on Jane Austen's book, you know the rest... The style does not change notably. :p (And that's why I never bother reading them ;)) But as example of Austen points out - you can be world wide known author, even if you can only write with one style :)

But I disagree up to one point - I think writer has to be at least aware of other styles and have some sort of hang of them. As you said, to use the to flesh out the story.
And, One point of Creative Writing, IMO, is to find your style. If you aren't aware of the styles possible, you cannot find your own style!

I dunno... that's just my opinion. Correct me if you want: I find it an interesting point, and don't mind discussing it at all. :)

Hmm... I thought about starting a thread earlier, about writing in the fanfic forum, but I never bothered... maybe some of the mods could cut these couple posts and make a thread? :o I should do it myself, but I shouldn't even be online right now, but working on writing a play.
