Hi KatieBell!

How could we forget a Lord of the Rings thread? It seems so obvious (and yes, very great movie!). Our site grew out of a Lord of the Rings site, the Council-of-Elrond, so that probably explains the oversite. So, yeah, it's a safe bet that everyone here loves LOTR.

I liked the Two Towers a lot better than the Fellowship of the Ring, which I liked a lot. Go figure. I couldn't even tell you why, but I suspect it has something with the Rohirrim!:o

I agree, I came to the rescue with a lotr thread!lol, I have never read the books, but I love the movie, I just don't think they're very scary, i like being scared! A lot of people like Legolas, but I for one am mostly against elves, in the movies at least, they play the cheesiest parts, or, mostly Legolas I mean:rolleyes: His poses and the "sliding down the shield on the stairs thing" retarded...

:) I like the shield-surfing.. but have long disliked Legolas in the movies. Too cheesy... lacks the seriousness of the elves.

Just ask BridgetChubb.. we went through this whole Lego-bashing phase together. :D

BAH! The shield surfing makes it worst!! I for one find the elves plain stupid (mind I haven't read the books) Wait but there's that one in the movie that gets killed, i forget his name unfortunately, but I liked him!

Oh, what do I know?? lol, I saw something really funny on a different site, a cartoon of Legolas jumping in and out of a picture on his toes (like a ballerina) and he starts going "I'm pretty, I'm pretty!" in a very high pitched voice. It's so retarded, and funny!

Oh, and I love LOTR... took me some time to get through the books, but in the end, I thoroughly enjoyed them and will someday sit down and read them again.. then inflict them on my children so they can be obsessed like me :D

I think the problem with Legolas is all the wee girls love him soooo much it drives you insane.

The girl who lives in my street is about 12/13 and she drove me mad with her Legolas obsession. She was was going on about how she hates Aragorn cause he means that Legolas doesnt get the recognition he deserves. I was like what do you mean ?Legolas is the one that saves them all. He surfs down stairs he is so cool. Then i had to argue back and go Aragorn is the one who leads them when they have lost hope, Legolas gives up what sort of attitude is that ? And Legolas never killed that orc who carried the flaming torch thing despite shooting at it loads of times. He's not that good. I cant even remember what she said after that but she never shut up and my brother went you know Legolas was my second favourite but you are making me hate him lol.

It actually ended up quite funny in the end cause she said someone in her school said in the return of the king Legolas turns into an orc and Aragorn kills him. Is it true ? I had to say yes :D

In the book though Legolas is the sweetest, most adoreable of them all  During that hunters chase thing i think i fell in love.

I think that the film Legolas character is different to the book Legolas character though. And Orlando is mighty fine as him, just a pity that all the 12 year olds love him ;)

OK, I am probably the youngest on the board and I admit I am a "wee girl" (12) but I really dont like being called that! :P sux to be young!:p :p and I don't like legolas, he's too much of a poser, he should be more realistic.. I'm quite crazy for Aragorn!:swoon:
lol, there is also a guy at school that goes on and on about how cool Legolas is... from what I've heard Legolas is better in the books than the movie... I hope so! Legolas sucks! (mind I haven't read the books!)
you should sooo read the silmarillion
My mom has it, I might read it, I'm more into Harry Potter, and when OotP comes out, I'm definately going to want to get my hands on that! (It comes out a few days before my b.day) *hint, hint nudge nudge if mum reads this*

If you haven't read LotR yet you'd probably better start with The Hobbit, then read the LotR, and then, if you enjoyed what you read, go on to read Silmarillion. It's a great book, but can be a bit hard to read.
In a way it is of course a prolouge to both the Hobbit and the LotR, but I haven't yet heard of a person who would have started from the Silmarillion. :)

sorry :o I used to think 12 was old and i never used to when i went to high school people saying the first years and that are so small.

Then i got older and i really cant believe how young 12 is. It seems a lifetime ago. My brother is about that age and all his friends are tiny. It's very scary for me anyway.

I'd enjoy being young by the way cause when you get to 19 and you think god im 20 on my next birthday it is very scary indeed !

Pity we all arent elves and live forever ;)

Lord of the Rings will forever rule! I love Lord of the Rings I infact have the Two Towers DVD some friend of my moms got the for your consideration copy!!!.

I liked Two Towers more then Fellowship becasue the story was getting more complex and it was just beautifully done. I especially enjoyed the Farimer parts. Why is it that all the Gondorians have wavy hair I mean Farimer, Aragorn and Borimer all have wavy hair.

I'm officially a LOTR freek and HP Freek I have posters, poems, soundtrack, Halloween costumes, jewery , movies, books I even memorized the Gollum scences me and my twin act them out together and scream out ITS MY PRECIOUS!!
