I haven't seen any music boards around here! What is your favourite music, I love the Grease Soundtrack... not saying I like oldies very much. The Nora Jones C.D. is pretty good... I like the Barenaked Ladies as well! I like a lot.;) Actually, I just got a new C.D. and it's like, the only one that i like where the singers end up screaming at one point...

Wohoo! Norah Jones!
As many fo you know, I'm a huge Norah Jones fan, but I do have other music loves.
Coldplay, and Will Young!
However, my favourite song of all time is El Tango De Roxanne :swoon: It's on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, and it's a masterpiece!
I love all genres of music, jazz, soul, indie, rock, whatever! Apart from hip-hop and dance....

I was at the meet last June
I like the Arrogant Worms
The Mountie Song
When I was a kid I wanted to grow up and be cop in a province town or county
I thought it would be great if someday I could only ever be a mountie
I wanted to beat up crooks and make arrests because that's part of the profession
But now I sit on my horse and tell American tourists the Parliament's in session
I really don't look good in red and my stupid hat flies off my head in every parade
I'm young and strong and have no fear but now I'm spending my career in motorcades
I wanna enforce the law, I wanna wear normal clothes
I don't wanna have to smile for diplomats' home videos
I good at working real hard, I should have joined the coast guard
Oh no, the RCMP
Is not the life for me
I used to think that a mountie had to be honest, loyal, humble, strong and thrifty
But even though we don't break ranks, we get no thanks, they took us off the fifty (dollar bill)
On Sussex Drive in hallowed halls we act like guards in shopping malls, it's such a pain
Like someone's plotting the assassination of the Minister if Sports and Recreation, oh that's insane
Sometimes I just want to puke on Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, Dudley Do-Right's such a jerk (Damn you, Snidely)
And though he tries with all his heart, my horse couldn't catch a shopping cart, some days I hate to go to work
I wanna enforce the law, I wanna wear normal clothes
I don't wanna have to smile for diplomats' home videos
I good at working real hard, I should have joined the coast guard
Oh no, the RCMP
Is not the life for me
Bill: Hey, Chester, come over here.
Chester: What's that, Bill?
B: Look what I found over here.
C: Oh, he's one uh them there beefeaters gonna do changin' uh the guard, tell us all about Charles, Diana, Camilla Parker-Bowling-Ball, 'n the li'l horsey guy..
B: Nuh-uh, we ain't in England, were in, uh, Canaida
C: Canaida? Can- he's a hockey player.
B: No, he's a mountie.
C: A mountie! Hey mountie, mountie, sing the mountie song.
Mountie: The mountie song?
B: Yeah, from the movie.
C: Yeah, you know, I'm a mountie, I'm a mountie
M: Oh, okay. (Sings) It's a world of laughter, a world of tears, it's a world of hope, it's a world of-
B: No, no, When Ah'm Callin' You,
M: Oh, right, yeah, okay. fine (Sings) When I'm calling you...
B: That's it. Higher, higher.
M: Higher? Okay (Sings higher) When I'm calling you...
C: Higher, higher. Think more north.
M:(Sing in falsetto) When I'm calling you...
B: You suck.
C: Yeah, you're a crummy mountie. You know, we came all the way from Buffalo, New York, an' that's a long way from Canada. We wanna see ourselves Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, maybe Regina, Saskatoon, maybe Halifax this afternoon iffen we got time. We wanna see ourselves a real mountie, an' a real Eskimo, an' a real igloo. We're gonna buy a soapstone carving. We're gonna take a shower with it by the light of the northern lights!
M: You listen here, Yankee punks, you'd better back off 'cause I've got a gun here and I'm not afraid to use it, so...
B: Ooh, he's got a gun.
C: Ooh, he's gonna squirt us.
B: Yeah, he's got one gun.
M: Yeah, well, how many guns do you got?
B: I got ten.
C: I got fourteen, that's twenty-
B&C: One.
M: Well, where do you keep that many guns?
C: In our tank.
M: You have a tank?
C: Well, we didn't walk here y'know.
M: Well, where would you get a tank?
B: Wal-mart.
M: Oh.

Let's see, as far as favorites go... Billy Joel, Celine Dion, Train, Matchbox Twenty, Enya, Alanis Morrissette, Garth Brooks... those are my all time favorites that I could listen to at any given moment of any given day...
I have very ecclectic tastes... one minute I could be listening to hard rock, and then the next moment I could pop in a country CD or classical music like Mozart... I LOVE MUSIC!! I always have it on! I'm a soundtrack nut too... LOOOOVE Moulin Rouge soundtrack and the score to Titanic.... I just love music!
Xazinon
03-25-2003, 01:16 AM
Music eh?
I'm probably a bit like StarGazr as far the eclectic bit goes: I do tend to like a lot of things, though most of it seems to be from the 60s/70s/80s: older stuff. Can't really say I'm very fond of techno/dance music. *shudder*
I like stuff like the Eagles, Eric Clapton, Bon Jovi, Crowded House, Bob Dylan... I am actually a very big fan of blues, and would probably consider that my favourite genre of music. :)
I've got all three of the Blues Brothers' CDs, I have, which I think is a case in point. (love the movie too!) :D
They had an International Music and Blues Festival here in Melbourne in February: featuring Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Tony Joe White and heaps of others. And I gotta say, despite some set-up problems, it was absolutely EXCELLENT! :notworthy:
Ray Charles is one amazing guy, too!
Well, there we go. I've rambled again, oh well! Yay music! :)

I'm a soundtrack lover, although I do have a lot of different stuff, including some classical, some pop, some  rap.
Soundtracks: Shrek, Moulin Rouge 1, Moulin Rouge 2, Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, etc. :D
Then there's Enrique Iglesias, Celine Dion, some classical stuff, Third Eye Blind and Savage Garden from AGES ago...

Is anyone weird like me and carry a minidisc player or something around with them, and with it all your favourite songs stored on it? Then for each mood you're in you play that song so it sort of becomes a soundtrack for your life...?
For example, when I arrived in Paris (via Eurostar) once I got off the train, I played Compliment La Butte from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, and that song was used when Christian first came to Paris via train :)

I already ran down my list of music I like, but I forgot to say that my two favorite soundtracks (due in part to parental influence over the years) are American Graffiti and Forrest Gump. Very very excellent, if you're into that kind of music.

Bebop (blues and jazz in general too) is my favourite genre at the moment, but I listen to lots of different bits, especially because I don't want to buy CDs so I rely on the radio.
FlaurD I was wondering, do you like tango in general? or just the Roxanne tango-version one? just wondering because I kind of like tango.

What I've heard of tango I like, but I can't say as I have heard much of it. I would love to be able to dance the tango though: that would be excellent!

If you're any interested then you might like the movie Tango (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0120274) (MPAA rating: PG-13). Well I only watched at the cinema years ago so I don't really remember it well... as far as I remember there wasn't any "proper" plot (so I understand people's comments "I walked out the cinema there was no story to follow"), cinematography was really good, and basically, what you get is just tango. So if you get easily bored watching people dancing no, this is not for you ;) I remember there was something I didn't like more or less at the end but, well I can barely remember my name so this is all I can say :D What I DO know is the soundtrack since I listen to it quite often (amazing, a CD I actually bought :D)
Tango: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000I0DI/qid=1049762846/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-1698120-9288163?v=glance&s=music&n=507846)

I love all kinds of music.. she is something else. She's got this jazz sound mixed with pop and... something else... not sure. If you haven't heard her yet... get your butt somewhere and listen!!
