Ok, since the last villain appreciation thread has mysteriously disapeared. And numerous people are starting to hyperventilate

::Chiana winks at Sirius::

Heres an alternative till the original one is sought after, and found. Hopefully we can remember where we left off :)

!!!!!Post away!!!!

Terry

Whew! Oh, thank you Chiana! Now let's get our villians back!! Whoever thought that we wouldn't miss them??! I mean, jeez! We only post here every day!!

Just watched about 12 hours of JI in the DVD of Patriot. Before, I'd only seen the video. OH, those deleted scenes of him in the DVD are quite nice!!

StarGazr
04-20-2003, 04:37 PM
Hey! I own The Patriot on DVD... where are there deleted scenes?? More Jason in deleted scenes??? How do you get to them... why can't I find them?? Help!

Terry
04-20-2003, 04:52 PM
Well, I don't know..... I just rented the DVD of Patriot. There's a menu of "Special Features". One called, "heart of a villian" which is pretty uncomfortable viewing (warning!).....and another called, "wait for my order" (YUMMY!). Actually, it's kinda tricksy. Go to Special Features and then look for an arrow in the upper right hand part of the screen. Click on that. It'll take you to the deleted scenes. Good luck and enjoy!

lithorose
04-20-2003, 04:55 PM
There's this arrow thingy on the upper right of the choices...kinda hard to spot, but run your mouse over it. Tavington is actually in quite a few of the deleted scenes...

Chiana, love the title!;)

Terry
04-20-2003, 05:02 PM
I too, love the title, (Jr.!) Lithorose. But where the heck did the original go? All those lovely piccys!!! Sob!

I'm just glad we have a replacement thread up...although...all those beautiful pictures!! *joins Terry in lamenting for the lost thread*

Your all very welcome! :D

I dont make many threads to begin with, and I figured we all really needed this one back, lol!

Wow, those are some pretty nice pictures you got posted there Rivenlas! I especially like the last one, for some reason I love guys with long hair...in rainy scenes ???

I haven't seen First Knight in quite awhile but I thought about the villian in that, he was very good, or at least I thought so. He was Malagant, Ben Cross i cant find any pictures at the moment.
But I liked him

Terry
04-20-2003, 10:03 PM
Oh yea, Malagant was a specially nice villian. I also like the guy in "A Knight's Tale", the villian..... oh what was his name...? Oh, Rufus Sewell! If I can do it...(highly unlikely) I'll post his pix here!

Zippy
04-21-2003, 01:50 PM
Yeah! My favorite thread is back...well replaced anyway.

I thought I was being punished.

Has anyone seen the interviews from the COS DVD? I love the Lucius ones...he still looks evil and delectable but he sounds nice. The contrast is very alluring. I was disappointed in the Rickman one. He wasn't in costume and it was sooo short. Not to mention unintersting. *sigh* At least the Lucius one's are good. I also liked the Draco ones. I wasn't a big Draco fan before but I was swayed by the old villian thread. He looks so much more groan up in COS. Now I don't have to feel like too much of a pervert to find him so cute.;)

ChianaWeasley
04-21-2003, 03:22 PM
Tom Felton's sixteen....Not much of a differance in our ages....!!!!!!
When I found this out I completley :swoon:

Rivenlas
04-21-2003, 03:33 PM
Wow. Two years for me. I thought he was 14 or 15...

edit: Colli! I just remembered! All our wonderful hybrid quotes are gone! I'm just glad I remembered to put some in my siggy... :(

Terry
04-21-2003, 04:55 PM
So what the heck happened to our thread? Eh? Maybe, I'll go ask.......

BTW, has anybody noted how JI can move his eyebrows independently? And so can Tom Felton? You know, they give the evil eyebrow lift thing. Not everybody can do it. Well, I can't. For reference see the scene in the Patriot where JI is just "about" to slice MG's head off. Watch his left eyebrow. I was impressed!

(Maybe seen the film too much.......methinks! Naw!)

lithorose
04-21-2003, 05:58 PM
I liked the total deadpan joke at the end of the JI bit.
There just wasn't enough interviews at all.

Rufus Sewell was in 'A Knight's Tale'? I don't remember that...lith considers rewatching the otherwise dreadful movie...

So does Sirius Black count as a villain? 'Cause I need to swoon for him...:swoon:

edit: the villain thread was eaten by server monkeys. Jason Isaacs was too delicious to pass up. At least they have good taste.

Rivenlas
04-21-2003, 06:03 PM
JI taught him acting tricks, and I suppose the eyebrow thing was one of them. I also love his half-smiles/sneers. Mwahahaha!
I think we count Sirius as a villain. 'Course, we don't have pictures of him yet. Maybe someone who is really good at art can draw us what he should look like.

Terry
04-21-2003, 06:31 PM
Oh, Rivenlass, did JI teach Felton those Eyebrow thingys! Good! They worked for the CoS, for sure. And Gary Oldman, as a villian should always look good!

Yes, Lithorose, Sewell was in Knight's Tale. Oh dear. What wasn't to like? Heath, Rufus, Paul Bettany! A nice cast.

Paul, btw, is going to star with Russell Crow in "Master and Commander". And..... Billy Boyd!!! I'm in line for THAT movie. There's got to be some villians there...just not sure who they are yet!

Colli
04-21-2003, 06:36 PM
I agree, lith. No server monkey would be able to resist. ;)

Rivenlas, our loss is great. But we shall fill this new thread up with better and greater and swoonier and funnier things!

And I had just posted all of those pictures in the other thread.... :(

ChianaWeasley
04-21-2003, 08:30 PM
::Chiana tries to lift one eyebrow evily::

Nope I am not one with the gifted eyebrow thing ::shrugs::

Billy boyd...why cant i put a face with that, I KNOW that name. Gimme a movie and I'll get who you mean.

Isn't it odd, that some of the actors you least expect for bad guy roles, are the best at being evil ???

Colli

:trout: Chiana. He's Pippin! :)

Rivenlas
04-21-2003, 09:15 PM
Supposedly you can learn to do the one brow thang. My sister couldn't do it, but she practiced for like fifty years(she's 16) and now she can. I, however, think that two eyebrows gives a greater effect. Or maybe I just can't do it.

StarGazr
04-21-2003, 10:35 PM
Terry: Thanks for the heads up on those deleted scenes! I'm gonna pull that out as soon as I'm done here!

Chiana: Love the title of this thread... but I'm sure that when we get through with this thread, there will be nothing "Jr." about it ;)

Rivenlas: :notworthy very nice pics... especially the "Snapesk" one as you put it. There's something about a man with long hair... how come men's hair always comes in so much nicer then women's? *glances in mirror at SG's attempt at growing out her hair* hmmmm

Lithorose: If you wanna :swoon: for Sirius on this thread... I'll call him a villian with you... and excuse to :swoon: for Sirius is a good excuse ;)

Colli: I don't have anything to say to you, I just talked to you! Oh yeah... chapter three is underway! wooooooooo!

Zippy
04-22-2003, 12:12 AM
I can do the eyebrow thing...with either eyebrow. When I was in the third grade our teacher assigned it as homework night jokingly. But I wanted to learn it and I did.

I know Tom is 16, however, I'm 30 so that still makes me a pervert. But I'm practically jailbait for Rickman...meow Professor. AND I'm just right for Lucius. I don't know what his age is and I don't care. MEOW!!!;)

Rivenlas
04-22-2003, 12:42 AM
Not absolutely positive, but I think he's abour 39. I'll have to check it out.
What? 21 years between two people is too many??

Terry
04-22-2003, 02:26 AM
The server monkey ate our thread!!! How dare he! Oh well. An excuse to post more piccys.

Well, I'm the right age for either Alan or Jason. Right in the middle. (OH! :o ) Didn't mean for that to sound that way!!! :p

I'll leave Tom alone though. He's a great actor, but a bit young for me.

vandevere
04-30-2003, 09:30 PM
All he was saying in that sonnet was that his mistress was a human being with feet of clay. And yet, in spite of her imperfections, he loved her more than anything else in the world. I think it was beautiful. But credit should also go to the writer of this sonnet. Shakespeare was writing about a normal, everyday man, who loved a normal, everyday woman. Love doesn't belong exclusively to the rich and beautiful. It belongs to everyone...

Hey, those of you with CoS DVD's.... who's the cute little red head sitting next to Marcus Flint in the final scene? He's just to the left of Marcus Flint. Isn't he a cutie? And since he's in Slytherin...he's gotta be a villian, right? Just curious.

Chiana, you like red heads. Who is he, hmmmm?

Terry
05-09-2003, 02:58 PM
Chiana, I can't figure it! I'm looking for this red-head and he's being very elusive! I've been to a few sites and apparently they all list the cast as having THREE beaters! Am I missing something? And they only list 6 Slytherin players. 3 beaters, 1 keeper, 1 seeker, and the Capt, who's a chaser. I fear we'll never figure out who the red-head is, cause I can't find any pictures! Oh well. He was too young for me anyhoo. ....well, maybe. I mean Moaning Myrtle was was born in 1966 or something like that! Oh, and Tom Riddle was 24 when he shot his part!

And learned that apparently JKR had a "Hictchcock" cameo in Knockturn Alley!!! (Jeez, probably should have gone to work today.....too much time on my hands!)

ChianaWeasley
05-10-2003, 03:46 PM
It wouldn't suprise me in the least if JKR made cameos in the film. Red head in the slug scene...hmm...might help if I had the DVD huh? Riddle was twenty four?!?! I thought he was eighteen or so! Wow, he definatley does not look twenty four. Women EVERYWHERE will want to know that man's secret ;)

Hi!

This is my first time posting over here (I am most often found in the CoE DSG Aragorn Haven--Would that be the complete opposite of the Villian Appreciation Thread?)

I'm reading PoA yet again and I know the ending and everytime I read it I WISH Scabbers was eaten by Crookshanks!

I know how you feel, Chiana. And yet, it certainly seems he is being set up as a Gollum-like figure that will, in the end, be the cause of Voldemort's downfall.

I am only(?!) 43, so I was able to read LOTR all at once, but I can't imagine reading TTT and then having to wait until ROTK was published. Every time I (re-)read GOF, it really strikes me what a cliff-hanger she left us with!

How many days until June 21st?

Yes, Terry--start here for some LOVELY pictures!
http://www.council-of-elrond.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94&perpage=30&pagenumber=85

Anyway, to stay on-topic--I just watched COS again and noticed how um, old Alan Rickman looked. I REALLY liked him in Sense and Sensibility; very appealing. I do wonder if they are going to make Gary Oldman appear to be the same age as Severus.

Terry
05-11-2003, 09:31 PM
Well, I don't know about that "old" thing Athelas! Did you see how Alan "moved" in the dueling scene! Man, he can "Expelliarmus" me any day!!

So could Gary Oldman, come to that. Ah. Thanks for the link!!

Athelas

Re Snape:

I specifically meant in the scene where he's berating Harry and Ron after they've just made it back to Hogwarts. In other scenes he doesn't appear so, I don't know, puffy-faced.

I'm looking forward to seeing Gary Oldman, myself--Sirius is a favorite character--but I'm a bit concerned how Lupin will appear. Both of them (especially Sirius) have to SEEM to be villians at times.

Nice to see you over at the Haven, Terry. I find it a nice way to start the day:swoon:

Terry
05-12-2003, 01:02 PM
Well, if they go at all by the book, they'll probably have to make Sirius look a bit "icky". Or at the very least unkept. And I do agree with you about Severus looking "puffy" in the first scene. He must have a long, hard night before shooting that one!

Well, now that I've read OOTP, I can see even more why they picked Alan Rickman for Snape. I really hope to see some more complex emotions written for him. I also wonder how much he has known of his backstory--I think I need to rewatch the movies to see if he gives anything away I didn't notice before.

Colli

Athelas, are you saying you can imagine Alan Rickman
in grey underpants? ;)

Oooh... who would you guys get to play a young Severus Snape?

Saryn

Snape in grey drawers? Eurgh. No, no, my Snape is a silk pantaloons man.

Don't get your hopes up too high, SG; he still wears grey nightshirts, you know...

(Of course, people of both sexes tend to go for the utilitarian underwear and nightclothes when they expect no one else to ever see them. If Snape ever pursues a relationship in the books, we just might get another sighting of Alan Rickman's theatrical black silk pajamas...)

oh wow! Didn't quite think about that one!

I felt so sorry for Snape. I think he has the right to be bitter for stuff like that.

Besides, I'm sure he's the third most powerful wizard there is.

And who else was mad at Tonks for taking out Lucius so easily? I mean, come on! Tonks knocking Lucius Malfoy out? Tonks?

Terry

Aww, she got a lucky shot in! Lucius was probably distracted or something. I can't check it because like an idiot, I LOANED MY COPY OUT!!!! :trout: myself! Suffering OotP withdrawal.....

Tonks IS a rather good auror, she can just be...well rather clumsy at times....ok well alot of the time. But that doesn't mean she isnt good at what wizardy involves

Hey, hey, hey. This is for villains. If that was a cheap shot, then that was a cheap shot. There's no was a clumsy wizard should take out Lucius Malfoy.

I know some people are partial to Snape, but Lucius just steals the movie for me. I watch his scenes over and over. :swoon:

(And when he says, "Now, now, Draco. Play nicely!" I just want to say, "I'll play nicely with you, Mr. Malfoy!" ;) :D)

A house-elf managed it.;)

Seriously, Lucius is most dangerous at the strategic level: hatching schemes, recruiting supporters, influencing the government etc.. Not to say he's a bad duellist, but the behind the scenes work is his strongest point.

Should we get to five movies, we'll see the Death Eaters' real combat monster in action.

That's true. But I think, if given the chance *cough*cheap shot!*cough* then Lucius would really do some damage.

I had to resurrect this because the coolest thing happened to me...
About a year ago, I got the fanmail address of Jason Isaacs. And then, I lost it. I was devastated...and then, someone on this site had it and gave it to me! I don't remember, who, exactly, and I went back to look but it must have been in our very first villain appreciation thread.
But yesterday, I got something in the mail, which was odd in itself since no one sends anything to me at home since I'm at college. Even more interesting was at the bottom of my address it said "USA" and the stamp was foreign. I didn't think anyone from overseas had my address...
When I opened it, there was a short note that apoligized for not being able to answer my letter personally but he did read it, enjoy it, etc, as he does all his fan mail. It was, of course typed.
And there was also a picture enclosed (it looked like a picture you could take with a normal camera--of him in the Patriot. I say this because it's actual Kodak picture paper.) And signed in gold ink by Jason Isaacs!
I was soooooo thrilled and went out and bought a small frame immediately so that I could keep it safe.
Did this happen for anyone else? I was wondering because I was a little bit silly in my letter and I was wondering if that happened for anyone else or only because I did something silly?

That's wonderful Rivenlas!!!
And it's wonderful when an actor or actress answers their own fan mail, to me it seems like they really do care about the people who look up to them.
Could we maybe see a copy of the picture he sent you? :p

Thats so neat!

He was wonderful as Jas Hook in Peter Pan!
I really must go see that tomorrow :D

Terry

Oh yes, you MUST go see Peter Pan tomorrow! Tonight if you can....well, I guess it's late, huh?

Woooo, Rivenlas, that's a rare treat for you. I adore JI. I frequent a message board of people who love the guy....the Unofficial JI Page. People post there who occasionally get responses from that wonderful man. I bet they'd love to hear what he sent you.

I hear he's MAYBE going to be in GoF. I certainly hope so.

I don't know of any place close showing Peter Pan...well, if it comes near it is definitely on my to do list!

Couldn't get the picture to work on here for some reason, so you'll have to click...sorry! I will try again later though if I have time.

The last one, strikes me as a portrait of dorian Gray. But not the actual portrait mind you. It does remind me of Dorian though...don't you think?

Wonderful book, you should try to skim through it :D

Mr. Isaacs certainly does a wonderful job with his dual part in Peter Pan. I felt quite sorry for him--you could tell his nastiness all came from a lonely childhood!

And his Mr. Darling is so wonderfully repressed--you can see the wildness is under there!

edit: I just saw this over at Mugglenet.com --it's from a live chat they had with Matthew Lewis, who plays Neville.

Question from Matt
JWhat was it like filming the Boggart scene in POA? Was it funny seeing Alan Rickman dressed in those clothes?

Matthew
You can't imagine how funny it was. Alan Rickman is a really, really nice guy but he's still really, really scary so to see him dressed like that was hilarious.

Do you think they have enough green plastered all over the poor boy?
Well...that or they tinted the whole photograph green to get the Slytherin effect...odd.

He isn't striking me as the evil villian type anymore, he's losing his villian-esqe aura. Know what I mean?

I have this new history professor, and HE strikes me as the type to try and take over the school and go completely bonkers. He even has the hair that goes everywhere if he were to start ranting and chuckling with malice into the school intercom system...

"And now....I will take over this school.......mwa....and then.........hahaha.......the WORLD! Mwuahahahaha!!!!!!!!!"

and scene

From the NY Times:

We also saw ALAN RICKMAN, the dark and mysterious professor, SEVERUS SNAPE, who either decided to stay in character on the red carpet doing that supercilious raised-eyebrow thing - or else is just darn spooky.

I really cannot wait to see him react to Snape's Worst Memory!

ChianaWeasley
05-27-2004, 05:51 PM
alan rickman, what a perfect Severus snape....

thinks of the opening trailer scene: Snape trudges into his classroom, snapping all the shutters closed over the windows, swishes about on his heels and with a deadly sirious face says, "turn to tape 387."

Villians can be no better than that, particualrly snape. I think Rickman captured him perfectly in that bit :D

Omigosh, I've just seen Mr. Isaacs in 'The Patriot', quite rotten his character is. And I became all excited because it was Jaz Hook and Lucius malfoy riding a horse. He can pull off completely evil as if it were telling off a door salesmen.

My hats off to his evil abilities

I couldn't find a Draco worship thread, so I thought that I would post this here. I was looking at the ages of the younger HP actors at IMDB and found that Tom Felton shares the birthday of my twin daughters (who had better fall for the good guys, if they know what's good for them).

The more interesting part, perhaps, is that it's the day of the Unexpeced and Long Awaited Parties--the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo, September 22.

I find this disturbing.

Wow, no Snape swoon thread? As an official handmaiden, I have to change that! Who couldn't love Snape, the cross between a Dickensian villain and a Byronic hero?! He's SOOO complex!
