~Severus Snape's First Month At Hogwarts~

It was nearing 10:00 pm and the halls had grown dark. The tall windows along the halls cast moonlit shadows across the floors and walls. Severus Snap was a first year student at Hogwarts School for witches and wizards. He was an awkward little fellow with scruffy short black hair. During the sorting ceremony, the sorting hat swiftly placed him into Slytherin. At first, he yearned to make friends but after a little incident between him and a female slytherin, rumor quickly spread that he had the ability to read minds. Everyone in his house became leery of him even though they remained cordial to him.
Loneliness crept into Severus’ being. He took to wondering the halls at night because lying in his bed and starring at the stars became boring. Severus left his dormitory and walked along the dungeon hall with his wand luminated before him to light his way. He walked up a flight of stairs to a long hall. He walked down the hall and around the corner he heard hushed voices. He slowly peered around the corner to see four boys standing in the hall with lanterns in their hands that cast a yellowish glow all around them. He looked at their black cloaks and saw Gryffindor badges on each of them. He could tell that they all were first year students like him self but he had never noticed them before. He half listened to their conversation and half read their minds. He could tell that they were mischievously up to something.
“This castle is so… so big! Isn’t it amazing?”
“It sure is! I can’t wait to find every nook and cranny!”
“Where is Peter? I thought he’d be here by now?”
“Heh! You know that boy’s a wimp! Maybe he got cold feet and decided not to come.”
“Oh well! His loss... PETER!”
“Hush! Someone will hear you!”
“Oops! Sorry! Glad to see you came Peter. We were afraid you’d be a no show.”
“Ah… come on guys! You knew I’d come! I just got delayed is all!”
Severus heard someone’s feet shuffle and then more conversation.
“Shall we get started?”
“I wonder what we’ll find?”
“What part of the castle we should explore first?”
“You know… my dad told me that he found a secret passage under a trap door in the kitchen pantry. I wonder if he was pulling my leg or telling the truth?”
“Let’s go find out!”
Severus heard the sound of shoes hurrying down the hall. He peered around the corner and watched them turn down a hall that led to the kitchen. He weighed the consequences of telling the head of Gryffindor house, Professor Dumbledore that they were out of bed. He realized that he might receive five points taken from Slytherin and they would lose five points a piece for each of them and it would come to twenty points from Gryffindor. The longer he stood looking towards where they had stood the more his heart yearned to do what they were doing. He longed to see what they might see and find what they might find. He wanted to be apart of the adventures that they might be having. He made up his mind not to tell on them.
Severus followed the same path that the Gryffindor boys took to reach the kitchen. As he entered the kitchen, he saw that it was completely dark. No house-elf was in sight and in the darkness he could see that pots were stacked neatly on the shelves. Cooking utensils hung in neat rows on their hooks and plates were all put away in their cupboards. Not a speck of dirt or dust could be seen in the darkness of the kitchen. Severus looked beyond an island that’s used for food preparation and saw an old looking door. He thought to him self, “That must be the pantry door.” The door was ajar and a faint light could be seen inside. He swiftly walked around the island and opened the door. The door slightly creaked and he flinched with a sudden fear that someone would hear it. He peered around the door and saw a lantern of the floor next to an open trap door that was propped open by a lone stick. More lantern light glowed through the opening.
Severus squeezed past the opening of the door while exhaling and sucking in his chest. He tried to make sure that his chest didn’t make the door creak again. He walked into the room, knelt down in front of the open trap door and looked downward at the Gryffindor boys. They were walking around a square room, taking in their surroundings.
“Did your dad say how to open it?”
“Yeah but it was a long time ago. Search the walls. I think I remember him saying something about a brick being the key.”
Severus wanted a closer look to see if they would find the brick but as he drew closer to the opening, he accidentally shoved a sandy feeling substance on the boy his friends called Peter. Peter shrieked with fright and everyone turned to Peter to try to hush him up. Peter pointed his index finger up at Severus and everyone looked up at him. Severus froze up with fear at the sight of their angry looks.
“Who are you?”
“What are you doing here?”
“Come to spy on us so you can rat us out?” They all questioned him except Peter who was content with giving Severus an angry glare after he’d finished dusting off his hair.
Severus answered their questions one by one, “I’m Severus Snape. I… um… was told that house-elves could be found in the kitchen so I… thought I would come see for myself if the rumor was true. I didn’t see anything but a light in this pantry and I thought… maybe the house-elves stayed in here at night.” Severus lied.
A squeaky voice from behind him turned his attention away from them, “Someone calls for a house-elf? May Dinky be of service?” Severus jumps to his feet and kicks the stick that held up the trap door, “No… no… you misunderstood!” Severus said with a worried look on his face.

“Dinky thinks that master student shouldn’t be out of bed so late in the night. Dinky thinks you are breaking school rules. Dinky must take you to Professor Ludan. Dinky needs you to follow him.”
Severus walked out of the pantry and shut the door behind him so that Dinky wouldn’t hear the Gryffindor boy’s angry yells and threats that they continued to scream towards him. He reluctantly gave in and followed Dinky to see the Professor Ludan. He followed Dinky down the staircase that led to the dungeon and into the Potion Master’s office.
Out of all the Professors, Professor Ludan was the only professor that Severus feared the most. He was pompous and silently loathed teaching children. He didn’t even favor his own house, Slytherin over the other houses. He dealt out punishments just because he hated what he thought was childish ignorance when it came to not being able to perform the tasks of putting a potion together to its perfection.
Severus entered his office with Dinky walking at his side. He looked down at Dinky and Dinky didn’t look to thrilled about having to bring him. He looked completely nervous as he looked around the office at the various potions and bottled ingredients that lined the Professor’s shelves.
Professor Ludan looked up from his parchment and watched them walk up to his desk.
“Caught out of bed Severus? I never thought that I would see you before my desk for this infraction.” Professor Ludan looked down at Dinky, “You may leave Dinky!”
“Thank you Master!” Dinky apparated out of the office with a snap of his fingers. Ludan resumed his gaze upon Severus. Severus shuddered with fear. Ludan's thoughts were on punishing a student in the severest manner. Severus only knew one other person whose thought were bent on punishing students this severely and he went by the name of Argus Filch.
“Some children have took it upon themselves to think that I wouldn’t mind if they stole some of my potions from this office. You wouldn’t be one of those students would you?” Professor Ludan’s tone was less then friendly.
“No… not I professor! I respect you to much for that.” Severus could feel that his hands were becoming clammy.
“You… respect me?” Ludan said silkily. He had never heard a student say they respected him before.
“Well… yes! I admire your capability to make potions with such ease. I wish I as smart as you.”
“You flatter me boy! Your flattery will not get you out of your punishment. I’m taking five points from Slytherin and if you don’t want your house to lose anymore points then I suggest that you stay in your bed at night and don’t wander the halls.” Professor Ludan sneered.
“Yes, sir!”
Severus hated it when Professor Ludan took points from his own house and acted like he wasn’t a headmaster of Slytherin.
“Severus…” the professor paused while looking down at his grade book. He looked up at Severus and said, “I can’t help but notice that you’re really trying in my class. On any other night I wouldn’t have admitted this but... I appreciate the effort that you’re putting forth.”
“Thanks sir!” Severus smiled.
“Get to bed now! I want to see you alert in my class tomorrow,” Professor Ludan gave a half smile that vanished as he watched Severus leave his office.
Severus walked back to his dormitory. He stood before a large portrait of a famous wizard and said the password. The portrait awoke from his slumber and looked at Severus, “Come inside my boy! I bet you’re sleepy!”
“Yes… very sleepy,” Severus yawned. He walked down three stairs into a large room that had a huge fireplace that had a fire blazing. Everyone appeared to be in their dorm rooms because the dormitory was completely empty. Severus walked down another set of stairs that took him into a study room. He walked through the large room into a corridor that was lined with metal dungeon doors. He walked up to his door and slowly opened it, hoping that it wouldn't make a metal creaking noise and wake up the other students. He entered his room and flung himself upon his four-poster bed without bothering to undress him self. He fell fast asleep soon after his head hit his pillow.

~Friday~

The sun rose on a Friday morning. It’s rays spread across Severus’s bedspread, pillow and shimmering black hair. His nose wrinkled with annoyance. He covered his eyes, rolled over and dozed off to sleep again.
“Severus!” Severus faintly heard the boy who was trying to wake him up.
“SEVERUS!” The boy called more loudly, this time waking him up. Severus opened his eyes to see a boy with short platinum blonde hair, standing over him.
“Get up… We have to be in Transfiguration class in thirty minutes. If your going to eat breakfast you better go now because you can’t be late for class. I don’t want you to cause us to lose any more house points! I have a reputation to uphold before my parents and Slytherin has to win the house cup!”
“I’m sorry Lucius! I didn’t mean to get caught last night but that house-elf appeared out of nowhere and what was I to do?”
“Don’t call for them!” Lucius sneered as he left the room. Severus sat on the edge of his bed and rubbed his eyes. He looked at the desk beside his bed for his transfiguration textbook. He grabbed it and ran down the stairs after Lucius. Lucius was a first year student too. He hung out with an older group of Slytherins. Severus never saw him with them because they were so tall and Lucius seemed to hide behind their cloaks most of the time that they talked in the hall or ate in The Great Hall. This morning was the first time that he saw Lucius without his friends surrounding him. Severus walked along side Lucius towards The Great Hall. Lucius didn’t show weather or not he minded his company. Lucius sat down next to his friends, leaving Severus standing in front of them.
“Who is this Lucius?” A boy with short brown hair said as he looked at Severus.
“He’s the boy that lost us five points last night. His name is Severus Snape.” Lucius said in reply.
“Have a seat next to me,” The sixth-year Slytherin boy said demandingly. Severus slowly sat next to him.
“I’ve heard whispers about you Severus. Slytherin’s are saying that you can read minds. Is that true? Can you really read minds?”

Thanks!

I've just completed the first paragragh and I'm trying to work out the stories next step in my head... I'm going to have to do a bit of research also.

“Its just rumors!” Severus tried to stand up but the boy grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back down.
“Reading minds isn’t a bad gift to have Severus.” The boy smiled but Severus was still angry about the rumor. He wished that Slytherin girl Veronica hadn’t spread the rumor. He finally asked the boy after a brief pause, “You know my name but I don’t know yours. What’s your name?”
“My name’s Tom…” Four Gryffindor students walked up to them and interrupted Tom from completing his sentence, “After your finished with him, we’d like a word if you don’t mind.”
“Why?” Tom asked with curiosity.
“Let’s just say… we need to clear a few things up.”
“Humor us Potter!” Lucius gave half a smile.
“It’s PRIVATE Malfoy!”
“Fine!” Lucius snapped.
Tom and his gang stood up from the table and left The Great Hall leaving Severus alone with the four Gryffindor boys. Two of them sat on both sides of him and two sat in front of him. Severus suddenly didn't feel like eating the rest of his breakfast.
James Potter spoke first, “Why did you follow us into the kitchen last night?”
“I was just curious! I didn’t mean… well… I had to shut that trap door on you guys. A house-elf appeared and…” A boy sitting in front of him interrupted him, “I don’t care what happened! You had no business following us to begin with! From now on stay out of our business!” The boy stood up and grabbed his book off the table. Severus recognized the boy that sat next to him. He was the same boy that Severus accidentally dumped sand on. The other boys called him Peter. Peter stood up and added, “Yeah… Don’t follow us anymore!” The other two boys stood up and they left The Great Hall.
Severus pushed his breakfast away from him. He felt completely angry with them that they wouldn’t listen to him, not to mention the fact that he saved their hides from getting caught. He picked up his book and stomped off to Transfigurations class.
He slid in the door right before the bell rang and sat down at a desk in the back of the class. At the top of his desk laid a melon on a plate. He looked at the other student’s desks and saw that everyone else had a different type of fruit on their desks as well.
“Good Morning class!” A fatherly sounding voice came from Professor Dumbledore, "Professor McGonagall will not be able to teach today... She's busy tending to Hogwarts business and I'll be taking her place as your teacher today."
“Good Morning!” Rang the many students who sat at their desks poised to learn a new magical transfiguration.
“Today we are going to learn how to turn a fruit into a fruit dish.”
The class smiled as they looked from the chalkboard to Professor Dumbledore. Dumbledore’s wand went over the diagram on the chalkboard as he explained the process that took place as the fruit transformed into the fruit dish. Severus leaned forward on his disk in an attempt to get a closer look at the chalkboard. Dumbledore turned to face the class after he finished explaining. He caught sight of Severus and smiled at him. He walked over to his desk and pointed his wand at a large grape fruit that lay on top of a large plate. The students watched eagerly as he said, “All you need to do is… tap the fruit three times and say, “Farnearraverto!” (Far-near-rah-vear-toe) The melon transformed into a crystal bowl with a grape vine design all around it. The class clapped their hands and looked upon it with amazed expressions on their faces. Severus sat back in his chair. His expression remained solemn as he looked at the crystal fruit bowl.
“Now… who would like to attempt to change their fruit first?” Professor Dumbledore asked the class. Severus looked around the class and watched Arthur Weasley’s hand shoot into the air. Weasley was always eager to try new spells.
“Alright Arthur! Have a go at it!” Dumbledore smiled at Arthur as he walked up to his desk. He counted for him, “One… Two… Three!”
“Farnearraverto!” Arthur shouted a bit loudly. His batch of bananas turned into a crystal fruit bowl with bananas spaced decoratively around the rim of the bowl.
“Very impressive Arthur! Ten points to Gryffindor!” Professor Dumbledore winked at him in a fatherly fashion. He turned to the rest of the class, “I would like the rest of you to practice this spell for the remainder of the class period.” He walked over to his desk and sat down in his chair. He picked up his copy of Werewolves and Their Moonlight Misbehaviors. None of the students could see what he was reading because the book was bound in an old leather jacket that hid it’s title from their view.
Severus tapped his wand on his melon three times, counting in his mind as he made each tap and said, “Farnearraverto!” His melon changed into a crystal bowl with round melons spaced evenly apart around the middle of the bowl. He was pleased to see that he’d done a good job.
Not everyone seemed to want to perform the spell however. Lucius stood in front of his desk with his chair pushed aside. His left hand rested on his hip and he stared angrily at a small red apple that sat atop his desk. Severus walked over to him and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I got a stupid little apple! I should have received grapes!” Severus looked around the room for some untouched grapes and saw some on a Gryffindor’s desk.
“Why don’t you ask that Gryffindor girl over there if you could trade with her?” Severus pointed towards her.
“She’s a filthy little mudblood! I wouldn’t even think of trading my apple for those defiled grapes!” Lucius snarled.
“Then try your apple Lucius!” Severus was losing his patients with him. Lucius shot an angry look at Severus. Severus stood his ground and pointed at the apple, “One… Two… Three!” Lucius looked at the apple and said, “Farnearraverto!” in a low growling voice.
The apple transformed into a crystal bowl that had four green crab apples spaced north, south, east and west around it’s middle. It was the most impressive crystal fruit bowl in the whole class.
Professor Dumbledore looked over his book at Lucius’s bowl and said, “Most impressive Malfoy! Ten points for Slytherin!” Lucius smiled and bowed slightly to Professor Dumbledore. The school bell rang to dismiss the classes to their next class. The students gathered their things and filed out of the room. After some of the students left, Lucius and Severus picked up their books and slowly made their way down the isle between the desks.
“I’m curious… what did those Gryffindor twits want with you?” Lucius looked at Severus and waited for an answer as they walked down the hall towards Potions class.

“I caught them wandering the halls last night and followed them to the kitchen. They found a trap door in the pantry and were inside the room below it. One of them said that there was a passage way but they couldn’t find the door to open it. I accidentally dumped sand on top of a boy they called Peter and they found me looking down on them.”
“Then the house-elf caught you? How come Gryffindor didn’t lose points?”
“Yes… I accidentally summoned a house-elf named Dinky and I knocked the trap door shut, trapping the Gryffindors inside the room under the trap door.” Severus admitted.
“Heh! That’s funny but next time… Go to Professor Dumbledore and tell him that they’re out of their beds. We may lose five points but they will lose twenty. Losing a measly five points will not feel so bad if they lose more.”
Lucius looked behind him. There were three first year Slytherins following them. He stopped in the hall and waited for one in particular to catch up to him. Severus stood to his left. A beautiful girl with sky blue eyes and long blonde hair that was a shade darker then Lucius’s own hair, sprinted down the hall towards Lucius.
“Narcissa…” He couldn’t complete his sentence as she gently place a hand on his shoulder and leaned towards his ear. She whispered something that only Severus could make out and stood upright again.
“Really?” Lucius looked a bit frightened but his fear faded quickly. He watched her nod, “Yes” and looked down the hall towards potions class.
“Let’s go find out for ourselves.” Lucius began to walk quickly to class and everyone followed behind him.
They all entered potions class three minutes shy of the bell. They sat down at their desks. Their cauldrons already lit and steaming, they looked down at a parchment that had been placed on each desk before the students arrived. Severus picked up his parchment and read the header, Alma Affligo Animus.
Severus was new to potion making and didn’t know what the potion’s name meant but he was sure that it didn’t sound like a good potion for anyone to use. He slowly put his parchment down and looked at Professor Ludan. Ludan was looking down at his grade book and calling out the names of each student. As the students heard their names they said, “Here!” loudly or in Lucius’s case, he merely raised his hand without saying a word causing Professor Ludan to look at him from across his book. Severus listened for his name patiently. He looked at the students as their names were called. As he listened he learned the rest of the names of the Gryffindor boys that he found out of bed the night before. Severus looked at each one of them angrily as he heard their names called off.
“Remus Lupan?” Remus answered, “Here!”
“James Potter?” James answered, “Here!” and smiled at Professor Ludan but Ludan didn’t see him.
“Sirius Black?” Sirius answered in a low tone, “Here.”
“Peter Pettigrew?” Peter answered; “Here!” in a high pitched voice that caused Professor Ludan to look at him for a second.
“Severus Snape?” Severus followed what Lucius did and raised his hand without saying a word. He looked down at his parchment again and began reading the instructions and ingredients carefully. The thought of messing up on any one of Professor Ludan’s potions frightened him. His careful reading was soon interrupted with a thundering voice that came from Professor Ludan. Apparently Lucius left his seat, walked up to the potion master’s desk and asked him a straightforward question.
“You… you think I’m what?” Ludan thundered with an angry look on his face that looked like he could have shattered glass.
“No sir! You misunderstood me. I asked you if you’re a vampire.” Lucius said boldly without flinching at Ludan’s angry voice or piercing stare.
“Go to your seat Malfoy! I’ll have no more ridiculous questions from you for the rest of this day!” Ludan sneered silkily.
Lucius walked down the isle towards his seat with his shoulders back and his head held high. Nobody dared laugh or make even the slightest sound as he walked past them. Severus watched him as he sat at a desk directly across the isle from his own desk. He sat next to Narcissa.
“Class…” Professor Ludan paused and watched as his students turned their attention to him.
“Today we’ll be making a potion that I’m sure Madam Pumfery would love to have but she doesn’t... even... know it exists.” Ludan smiled evilly on them all as he leaned forward on his desk.
A hand shot into the air. Arthur Weasley sat in a desk directly in front of Ludan’s desk. He was holding his hand so high that his bum barely touched his seat.
“What is it Weasley?” Ludan walked around his desk and stood in front of him. He looked at Arthur with his light blue eyes and waited for a reply to his question.
“Professor, that’s not possible. Doesn’t the Ministry of Magic have a private library that contains every potion known to wizards and witches?”
“Yes they do but do you think that…” Professor Ludan put his hand over his mouth and turned away from Arthur. He was a man of many secrets and didn’t want to reveal anymore then the potion that he was having them make.
“Are you alright Professor?” Arthur asked with concern.
“Yes and in answer to your question… This is a potion that’s been in my family for many generations and through the passing of time, this potion got forgotten to everyone but my family members.”
Arthur smiled nervously and looked down at his parchment.
“This potion… I have to admit… is rarely ever used and I dare say, It will never be need here at Hogwarts because the headmaster of this school does not permit Werewolves to be enrolled here.” Ludan glanced at Remus and paused before he began speaking again, “You’ll ask me why my family has known this potion for generations. There is a secondary use for this potion. It helps to sooth those who suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, and those who suffer from motion sickness when they fly their brooms.
It calms the soul and sooths the mind, leaving the drinker in a normal state of mind. IF… you brew it correctly and I don’t expect that any of you will because it’s an advanced formula. I will not take off points from any of your houses if you can’t brew it correctly but I do expect you to give it your best effort. BEGIN!”
Professor Ludan leaned against his desk and crossed his arms in front of his chest. He watched the students as they put their first ingredient into their cauldrons. Severus read his instructions and in the corner he noticed a small note that read, “You’ll know that your potion’s brewed correctly if it takes 48 hours to brew. If you rush it… it’ll flop!”

Severus looked up at Professor Ludan and smiled. He put his first ingredient in and watched as it sizzled in the green liquid. He smelled the mint smell that came from the cauldron. It made him feel good as it entered his lungs. He picked up a wooden spoon and stirred gently for twenty minutes. He continued following his instructions until the bell rang to release them all from class.
Severus sat behind his desk with his parchment before him like a muggle sitting at the breakfast table with his nose inside a newspaper. Students walked past him but he didn’t notice them leave. Nor did Lucius notice him still sitting at his desk. Narcissa was talking to him excitedly about her latest letter that she received from her father that morning. Moments later, Severus began to doze off. His hand relaxed against his desk and his parchment slowly fell to rest upon his potions textbook. As his head rested upon his shoulder, he drifted into dreamland. He began to hear voices that became clearer as his slumber went deeper.
“Potter! I can’t believe it! You found the passage!”
“Yeah! This is awesome! The brick is right here. Don’t forget!”
“I won’t! I just wish Remus was here to see this!”
“SEVERUS!” Professor Ludan tried to wake him. Severus sat straight up in his chair and gave a nervous and frightened look at Ludan. Ludan stood in front of Severus. He bent over him with his hand on Severus's shoulder, gently nudging him to wake.
“Where’s Remus?” Severus asked Ludan incoherently.
“Severus?” Ludan said in a questioning voice as he straightened up and looked down at him.
“James, Peter, and Sirius are in the kitchen but Remus isn’t!” Severus said with a more serious tone to his voice. He jumped to his feet, rolled up his parchment, picked up his textbook from his desk and looked towards the classroom door. He made a move to leave the classroom.
“Wait… how do you know this?” Professor Ludan asked with concern. Severus nodded his head in a “no” gesture and Ludan took it to mean, “I don’t know.”
“Lets look for them together. I don’t want you to get into trouble for wandering the halls alone. If another teacher of prefect found you walking the halls this late, they might think that your breaking the rules by being out of bed.”
Severus rubbed his aching neck and asked, “How late… what time is it, sir?”
“It’s 9:00 pm! I left class when the bell rang. I’ve been busy attending to… I was in the hospital wing and just now got back. I’m sorry lad!”
“It’s ok!” Severus looked towards the classroom door again, “They’re in the kitchen pantry Professor.”
“Right… lets go see!”
Severus followed Professor Ludan out of the office, down the halls, and into the kitchen. Just as Severus suspected, the pantry door was ajar and the same familiar lantern light could be seen glowing through the crack of the door.
“Looks like you’re right Severus,” Professor Ludan whispered. Severus nodded in agreement as Ludan slowly walked towards the pantry door. Severus followed closely behind but not so close that he stepped on Ludan’s heels.
Ludan slowly opened the door. A few feet in front of him was the trap door. It was again propped open by the same stick that propped it open the night before. Ludan walked towards the trap door and Severus stayed in the doorway. He watched as Ludan looked down into the room below. It was dark and appeared to be empty. Ludan picked up the lantern that luminated the pantry and held it down into the dark room.
“I don’t see anybody Severus. Are you sure that you… um…” His voice trailed off as he looked at Severus.
“I’m sure Professor! Please wait here for a minute!” Severus pleaded. Professor Ludan looked down into the room again. He wanted to believe Severus but didn’t know what to think. Five minutes passed… Ten minutes passed… Fifteen minutes passed and Severus was no longer standing in the doorway but stood next to Professor Ludan and stared with him into the room below them. He finally spoke, “Professor I heard one of the boys say that he found a brick along one of the walls. He shoved into the wall revealing a door that opened and they walked into a passageway.”
“Severus… were you dreaming?” Professor Ludan looked at Severus curiously. He suddenly heard a noise coming from the room below. He jumped with fright and Severus looked down into the room. A bright light came up a passageway and into the room. Professor Ludan leaned forward. He saw the three Gryffindor boys enter the room one by one. He recognized them as the same boys that Severus mentioned in his class. He looked at Severus with a look of surprise. He felt relieved that he toke the time to believe Severus instead of calling him a liar and brushing him off to his dormitory. Professor Ludan looked back down into the room. The three boys hadn’t noticed them standing there yet.
“Well… well boys! Looks like you’re caught out of bed and of all places to get caught… you’re caught in the pantry.”
The boys looked up at Professor Ludan and Severus with surprised faces.
“Snivelus!” Sirius yelled up the ladder towards him.
“Get up here boys! We’re going to see Professor Dumbledore.” Professor Ludan said with a serious tone of voice. The boys crawled up the ladder one by one. All three of them gave Severus angry glares as the crawled up. Severus didn’t seem to care. He smiled and began to relish the fact that they were finally getting the punishment that they deserved the night before.
“Severus… go to your dorm son! I can handle this from here. Go get some sleep.”
“Yes sir!”
Severus left the kitchen and walked to the Slytherin dormitory. He stopped in front of the portrait and said the password. The portrait looked down at Severus. The old wizard had been polishing his sword. He quickly slid his sword into its sheath and swung open to admit him inside. Severus saw that a few of his fellow Slytherins were still up. Narcissa sat in a black high back armchair in front of the fire. She had her shoes off and warmed her feet a short distance from the fire’s flames. Veronica sat in a brown leather chair that was moved next to Narcissa's so that the armchairs sat side by side. Severus walked past them into an adjacent room that had a long wooden table for those students who preferred not to do their homework at their private desks in their dorm rooms.
Four Slytherins that Severus hadn’t yet met sat at the table doing their homework in silence. Severus walked past them and walked down a narrow staircase to a dank corridor that was filled with many metal dorm room doors. He walked up to his and opened it. The door creaked a rusty creak as he entered the room.

Tom sat on the edge of his bed talking to Lucius. They both discontinued their conversation after seeing Severus enter the room.
“Severus... Where have you been? I haven’t seen you since potions class.” Before Severus could answer Lucius, Lucius turned to a house-elf that was sitting at his desk and appeared to be doing his homework for him.
“Dobby… take his books and do his homework too.”
“Yes Master!” Dobby jumped down from the chair he was standing on and took Severus’s books from his hands. He ran back to the chair, jumped up on it and stood on it while putting Severus’s books on top of the desk.
Tom stood up from Severus’s bed, “See you around Lucius! I’ve got to begin my prefect duties.” Tom stood up from Severus's bed, took a step toward Lucius, leaned towards his ear and whispered, “And I’ve got some avenues to check out tonight.”
“Alright Tom... Good Luck!” Lucius slightly bowed his head to Tom as he left the room. Then he watched Severus walk over to his four-poster bed. Severus sat down where Tom had been sitting.
“Those Gryffindor boys were in the Kitchen again. This time I took Professor Ludan to the kitchen and they got caught in the act. Professor Ludan took them to Professor Dumbledore. I’ll bet they lost house points tonight.”
“Good job Severus! Keep up the good work. The more house points they lose the closer we’ll be to securing the house cup and besides, we can’t have Gryffindors… wandering the halls at night.” Lucius smiled slyly as he thought to himself, “Not when we’re so close to finding the Chamber.” Lucius watched Dobby do his homework feverishly and yet Dobby’s handwriting appeared to be perfect in every loop and line. Nonetheless Lucius demanded that he slow down, “If I see any mistakes on my homework… It’ll mean extra punishments for you! Slow down Dobby!”
“Yes Sir!” Dobby squeaked in a frightened tone.
Severus leaned forward on his knees and watched Dobby as he worked. He really hadn’t planned to do his homework till Sunday but Lucius wasn’t known for doing anything at the last minute. He always wanted it done at the appropriate time and no later. Suddenly Severus thought of something as he watched Dobby push the last of his master’s homework into a neat pile at the farthest corner of the desk along with his textbooks. Dobby picked up Severus's schedule book and looked at his homework notes.
“Lucius… I don’t think that your house-elf should do my homework.”
“What! I’m doing you a service! You can at least be grateful!” Lucius twisted an angry look at Severus.
“Hear me out Lucius! You know that Professor Dumbledore doesn’t miss a trick. If he saw both of our homework parchments and saw… say… the handwriting looked the same or perhaps the answers were the same. He would become suspicious and maybe even think that you did my homework for me.”
“Ridiculous! I would never…” Severus cut him off, “Exactly! If Dumbledore found out that you were using a house-elf to do all your homework… you’d be expelled.”
“Master… would be expelled? Dobby never knew…”
“Be Quiet Dobby!” Lucius shot an angry glare at Dobby that made him hide behind his hands and shudder in fear. Lucius turned his attention back to Severus and said, “Alright! Do your own homework then.” He gave in to Severus's logic.

I think this is a really interesting story! I like how you use what we already know about the characters to build a history with them. I really like how you have Severus be interested in potions at such an early age... it really defines his character. good job!

Thanks StarGazr! :D The stories starting to get rich and I'm still wondering where its all coming from :o

I've realized that i've made a mistake when I had Severus go up a spiral staircase to reach his dorm room. I'll be editing that to Slytherin dorm room format... {Finnished it <10:43 AM June 7th, 2003>} I hope it suffices :)

Severus stood up from the edge of his bed and walked over to Dobby. Dobby gathered up his schedule book and potions textbook. He handed them to Severus. Severus took them to his desk and placed them in front of the chair that was pushed under his desk. He took off his school uniform and slipped into his pajamas. Then he lay down in the middle of his bed and looked up at the ceiling above. His thoughts turned to the day’s events. It didn’t take long for Severus to fall into a deep slumber.
Lucius took the chair from his desk and placed it in front of the window. He sat down in it and propped his foot atop the windowsill. He rested his elbow on his knee and rested his chin in his hand. He looked out the window at the full moon in the night's sky.
Dobby silently walked past him and crawled on top of his bed. He sat at the end of the bed and watched his master as he thought about the conversation that he had with Tom Riddle.

~Saturday~

Dark clouds filled the morning skies. Raindrops slowly made a soft taping sound against the windows of Professor Dumbledore’s bedchamber. As the dawn drew closer to breakfast time, the rain grew heavier and hit harder against the windowpanes. Thunder boomed and lightening streaked across the dark grey clouds.
Albus Dumbledore awoke from his sleep and wondered if young first year students were fleeing from the Great Hall with fright. He sat up in his bed, reached over to his nightstand for his half moon glasses and put them on. He pulled back his covers and got out of bed. He walked over to a tall dresser that contained all his robes and picked out his dark blue robes. After he finished getting dressed he walked over to a cloak stand and put on a matching dark blue cloak that had gold stars that magically changed to match the constellations in the skies. Since it was morning, no constellations could be seen on his cloak. Albus slipped on some shoes that sat at the foot of his bed. He walked out of his bedchamber, down a half circle staircase and left his office. On the way down the corridor, he met Professor McGonagall.
“Good Morning Albus!”
“Good Morning Minerva!”
“How did things go with Remus last night?” Minerva looked concerned.
“Not so well… I’m afraid. The poor boy is very resilient but I’m sad to say that he fractured a few ribs when his werewolf form slammed itself into a few of the pillars in the ballroom. However… I’m happy to report that Madam Pumfry has mended his ribs and Remus will be fine.”
“Oh Albus… We can’t keep locking him in that room,” Minerva said with a sorrowful look.
“I know… a Gryffindor student came to me last night. Apparently… he could hear Remus’s howls from his dorm room.”
“What are we going to do?” Minerva looked even more concerned.
“Madam Sprout has found for us… a Whomping Willow Tree.”
“Really?” Curiosity filled Minerva.
“Yes!” Albus smiled.
“Well… how is a Whomping Willow going to help Remus?”
“The tree will safely hide him away from the students… when he is not feeling himself Minerva.”
“Oh… that’s wonderful Albus! We’ll have to warn the students though. They’ll have to learn to stay away from the tree so they don’t get hurt.”
“Yes… that is important! I was on my way to the Great Hall. Would you care to join me?”
“Yes! I would love to Albus. I’m getting quite hungry!” Minerva smiled.
Albus and Minerva walked to the head of the Great Hall. Albus and Minerva sat down at the Gryffindor table and their breakfast magically apparated upon their plates. They saw before them bacon, scrambled eggs, buttered toast and jam and many other breakfast foods.
Not long after they began to eat, Professor Ludan and Madam Pumfry entered the great hall and walked quickly to where they sat. They hadn’t noticed that they both entered at the same time and began to speak at the same exact time as the other. They looked at each other and Madam Pumfry blushed, “You first Professor!” She said sweetly. Professor Ludan smiled at Madam Pumfry.
“Professor Dumbledore, Three nights ago my office was broken into and some of my potions were stolen. Whoever broke into my office… they took more then potions. They took a valuable book of mine. It’s a very ancient book. If any one of the students…” Professor Ludan stopped his sentence and looked around the Great Hall to see how many students were eating breakfast behind him. The Great Hall was full of students. All of them were eating while paying attention to his conversation. He turned back to Professor Dumbledore, leaned forward on the desk and whispered, “They’d know everything about Hogwarts! Everything!” Professor Ludan didn't take his eyes off Professor Dumbledore, as he stood upright again.
“I understand Ludan. We’ll have to try and find it.” He nodded and turned to Madam Pumfry, “What is it that you wanted to say?”
Madam Pumfry looked at Professor Ludan, “Professor maybe you could help me?” Professor Ludan gave a confussed expression to Madam Pumfry and asked, “Yes?”
“Come with me please,” Madam Pumfry walked down the isle out of the Great Hall and Professor Ludan followed her to the hospital wing.
“He’s been like this all morning and refuses to eat any breakfast,” She said exasperatedly as she pointed towards a curtain that surrounded a bed.”
“Who has Madam?”

“Remus, Professor… he’s been terribly upset about what happened last night. I keep telling him that they’re only pillars but the poor lad… he’s been crying all morning.”
“Oh… Madam… I’m not…” Ludan staggered out, looked back towards the curtains that hid Remus from sight and continued, “I mean to say... I’m not very good at comforting children. Perhaps you should have brought Professor McGonagall?”
“Nonsense! You’re the potions master! There has to be something you can do for him or perhaps something you can give him?”
Professor Ludan nodded, “yes” slowly and said, "I'll see what I can do Madam." He walked over to Remus’s bedside and pulled back the curtain. Madam Pumfry brought him a chair so he could sit next to Remus's bedside.
“Thank you Madam!” He said as he watched her walk away to her desk at the front of the hospital.
Remus sat up in his bed and wiped a tear away as Ludan sat down. Ludan sat next to him with the feeling of a heavy heart as he looked at Remus. He didn’t need to ask what ailed him.
“Remus… I know that I’m hard on you in class and I know what pains you,” Professor Ludan pulled a strand of his long blonde hair behind his ear to reveal that he had pointy ears. Remus’s eyes grew big as he looked at Ludan’s pointy ear.
“So… so… you are a vampire?” Remus asked with a shaky voice. Ludan looked away from Remus with a pained expression.
“Like you… what I am is a highly guarded secret. My very world is a highly guarded secret. A century ago, my kingdom was enchanted so that no wizard, witch or muggle would be able to behold its splendid beauty ever again. You see… I am a Meadowland Elf and I come from the Kingdom of Estanderry. I gave up so much when I left to teach here at Hogwarts. I gave up my family, my friends and… I can no longer see my daughter. Every time someone sees my ears they automatically assume that I’m a vampire and… It disturbs me a little even though I know that all wizards, witches, and muggles believe that my people all died and are extinct.” Ludan sighed.
“That’s so sad Professor!” Remus said sorrowfully.
“Can I trust you to keep my secret as I’ve been keeping yours?”
“Yes Professor!”
“Now… I’ll hear no more of you shedding tears. We must be strong together and have no more fears.” Professor Ludan smiled down at Remus.
“Yes Professor!” Remus smiled back.
“Would you like to finish brewing your potion today?”
“Sure Professor!” Remus stood up from his bed and put his cloak and shoes on. He walked behind Professor Ludan to the potions classroom. As Ludan entered the room, he saw Severus standing in front of his cauldron with his sleeves rolled up. He was putting in the next ingredient and stirring the potion slowly. Remus stood behind Ludan and nervously watched Severus work. He tugged on Ludan’s cloak, “Sir… May I please go find my friends? I forgot that I was supposed to help them do their homework in the library today.”
“What about your potion Remus? Don’t you want it to turn out alright?”
Remus shook his head, “No” slowly but he wasn’t looking at Ludan when he shook his head. He was looking directly into Severus’s angry eyes. Ludan looked at Severus and said with an understanding, “Very well! Off with you then!” Ludan and Severus watched him quickly leave the classroom.
“Well Severus… I guess it’s just you and me today. You’d think more students would take interest in making sure their potions brewed properly.” Ludan didn’t wait for a reply as he walked past Severus. He burned with anguish over the loss of his ancient book. He walked down the isle and stood before his desk. Severus flinched as he watched Ludan clear everything off the top of his desk with one swipe of his arm. A huge map appeared out of nowhere. Without wand assistance, it unrolled itself across Ludan’s desk and hung over the edges. Ludan bent over it and placed his hands atop it. It was the largest map of Hogwarts that Severus had ever seen. Severus’s curiosity longed to walk up to Ludan’s desk and have a closer look but he feared that Ludan would get angry with him if he dared do so. He watched Ludan, as he appeared to look down cast and distressed. Ludan looked down the isle, “DINKY!” He shouted. A house-elf in a plain cream-colored pillow sham appeared.
“Yes Sir!”
“Dinky I need your help to find something that’s been stolen from me.”
“Dinky can help Sir!” Dinky replied with an Eagerness to serve his Master.
“Good… Do you remember that old book that I brought with me?”
“Dinky remembers Master! Master is never without his old book.”
“That’s true! It’s been stolen from me. I need you to search Hogwarts and help me get it back.”
“Dinky obeys Sir!” Dinky smiled at Ludan.
“Good Dinky! Get started!”
“Yes Sir!” Dinky snapped his fingers and disappeared from sight.

*
Professor Ludan looked down at his map. He appeared to be very dissatisfied with it. He pulled a parchment and quill from his desk drawer and placed it atop his map. He began writing a message and after he finished, he rolled it up and wax sealed it. He put it in his pocket. He rolled up his large map of Hogwarts and it vanished from Ludan’s desk with a spark of white light. Severus looked away from his cauldron to watch the light. Ludan stood in front of his desk with his arms crossed. He stared out the window of his dungeon classroom with a look of uneasiness then shifted his gaze upon Severus. Severus watched Ludan walk down the isle towards him. Ludan bent over his cauldron and peered down at the yellow colored liquid inside.
“Good job Severus! If everyone were as diligent as you, their potions would look exactly like yours.”
“Thanks Sir!”
Ludan turned to walk towards his desk again but paused in mid-stride. He put his hand to his mouth and almost looked as though he were chewing his long nails. He turned back towards Severus and said, “Severus… I need you to go to the library and retrieve a book for me. Would you be willing to do that for me?”
“Yes Sir!”
“Take this parchment to Madam Irma Pince. She’ll show you to where the book is.”

Severus Snape

“Yes Sir!” Severus took the parchment from Ludan. He walked out of the classroom with it in his pocket next to his wand and walked to the Library. It was nearing lunchtime and Severus was hoping to return the book before the Great Hall began serving lunch. He entered the Library and handed the parchment to Madam Pince. She looked Severus over from head to foot before taking the parchment from him. The look she gave him made him burn with anger. It was the same look that all the other students gave him… a look of disdain and dislike for his appearance. She took the rolled up parchment from him, unsealed it and read it silently to herself.
“Follow me!” Madam Pince appeared to be irritated with the Professor’s request. She ushered Severus towards the restricted area with a wave of her feather duster. As he reached the door that locked the restricted area, Madam Pince pulled a key from her pocket and unlocked the door, admitting him inside. He walked beside her to a bookshelf that held the book that he needed. She ran her feather duster along the cracked and faded leather spines of the books that sat upon the shelf, reading each book title as her feather duster stopped at each book.
“Severus is here!” Severus heard a voice speak.
“Of course I am Madam!” Severus answered the voice. Madam Pince pulled Magical Map Magical Making from the shelf and handed it to Severus with a puzzled look on her face.
“Are you alright child?”
“Yes Madam!” Severus felt his cheeks blush with embarrassment. He realized that he had read someone’s mind and it upset him when he made the mistake of thinking that the person next to him said the words that he heard.
“Take this book back to Professor Ludan please.” Madam Pince looked irritated that Severus hadn’t left the restricted area more quickly.
“Yes Madam!” Severus walked out of the restricted area and walked towards the door to leave. He didn’t realize that he was being followed as he walked down the hall towards the dungeons.
A hand from Sirius Black grabbed his cloak. Severus stumbled backwards and almost fell to the ground. He dropped his book on the floor as he struggled to keep his balance. He turned around to see who it was that grabbed him from behind. Sirius, James, Peter and Remus boldly stood behind him in a line with Peter standing slightly behind Remus.
“I thought I told you to stay out of our business Snivellus… but NO! You had to cause us to lose house points!” Serius growled in an undertone that everyone could hear as he made threats towards him.
Severus reached for his wand but couldn’t pull it from his pocket in time to defend himself. James and Sirius already had theirs raised and they yelled simultaneously. James yelled “Expelliarmus!” and Sirius yelled, Impedimenta!” Severus and his wand flew backward several feet and landed upon the cold hard stone floor with a thundering thud that echoed the entire hall. Severus silenced a moan that became the sound of a hiss. He saw his wand lying next to him and started to reach for it.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you!” Remus yelled warningly. Severus looked at Remus, hocked a luggy and spat a big ball of green buggies at Remus. Remus jumped backwards, his wand still aimed directly at Severus. Severus grabbed for his wand and James yelled, “Hover!” Severus’s wand began to hover out of Severus’s reach. Severus slowly stood up. Severus didn’t say a word as he stared angrily at James. Peter walked over to where Severus’s book lay on the floor and picked it up.
“That’s for the Potions Master Peter!” Severus snapped. Peter ignored Severus as he read the front cover. James became interested in the book that Peter held and walked over to see it, “Let me see that Peter!” Peter passed the book to James and he read the cover. A smile slowly spread across his face. Remus looked away from Sirius to see what they were talking about.
“What is it James?” Remus asked with curiosity. James handed the book to Remus. He read the cover and smiled at James. Remus walked over to Sirius and tried to hand the book to him, “Look at this Sirius!” Sirius looked down at it and gave it half a grin, his mind more on pummeling Severus.
All three was so taken with the book that they hadn’t realized that Sirius had slammed Severus against the hard stone wall, and pinned him against the wall with his forearm underneath Severus’s chin, and causing him to wince in pain with the pressure against his neck. Severus returned the same angry look that Sirius gave him. He grabbed at the sleeve of Sirius’s arm and pushed against his body with his left hand to try to push Sirius off of him but Sirius wouldn’t budge.
“I don’t EVER want to see you following us again!” Sirius sternly told Severus through gritted teeth. Sirius looked down at the book in Remus’s hand once again. He let go of Severus. Severus slowly pushed himself away from the wall and adjusted his school uniform and cloak as Sirius took the book from Remus. Severus made a grab for the book but to no avail. Sirius pushed him back against the wall in an almost casual manner. Severus’s head hit the wall once again and his greasy hair flew in his eyes. Severus was fuming mad. He would of liked nothing better then to be able to retrieve his wand and blast them with the worst curses he could think of but as it was… he felt helpless against the four of them and he hated the feeling of it. Sirius read the cover of Severus’s book and smiled bigger then he had the last time. He looked at Severus who was pulling his bangs out of his eyes, “Tell you what Snivellus… If you'll be a good little boy, we’ll give you your book back… OK!” Sirius’s smile faded before he turned to walk away.
“NO! GIVE ME BACK MY BOOK! IT’S…” Severus’s was flush red and angrier then ever. James looked down the hall at Severus and laughed at the sight of him jumping into the air to try and retrieve his wand. Severus looked at him and sneered, Shut up… Potty! He watched James turn and follow after his friends. Severus looked up at his wand and saw that the spell had begun to ware off. His wand dipped lower from its spot near the ceiling. He jumped up, grabbed it and quickly pocketed it. He wasted no time in running down the hall towards the dungeons, down the stairs, and into the potions classroom.
“Professor! Professor!” He panted.
“Calm down Severus! Take a deep breath.” Professor Ludan suggested.
Severus did as he was told as he glanced at his cauldron. He looked back at Professor Ludan and said, “Professor… those Gryffindors took your book. There was nothing I could do!”
“Keeping books doesn’t seem to be my strongpoint this year.” Professor Ludan managed a smile even though he was upset. Severus appeared to be very worried about the book. He hadn't really paid any attention to the book except to briefly read its title.

“Don’t worry Severus! Even though that book was in the restricted area… it’s really quite harmless.”
“Yes Sir!”
“I’ll retrieve it from them on Monday when they come to class. Thanks for your help!” Ludan pulled his pocket watch from his pocket and looked at the time.
“I believe it’s time for you to eat lunch. I’ll watch your potion while your gone.”
“Thanks Sir!” Severus felt a bit relieved. He slowly walked out of class and made his way towards the Great Hall.

At Lunch…

Severus entered the Great Hall. He looked at the Slytherin table and felt relieved to see a familiar face. He walked towards the table and sat down next to Lucius Malfoy. Two large boys sat on the other side of him but Severus didn’t notice them as he snatched up a sandwich from the plate in front of him. Before he could take a bite of his sandwich, Lucius spoke, “Hello Severus! Have you met the boys whose beds are directly across the isle from ours?” Severus put his sandwich down on his plate and said, “I’ve been so busy lately, I haven’t had the chance to meet anyone else Lucius.”
“I’d like you to meet Crabbe and Goyle!” Crabbe and Goyle said, “Hello” simultaneously.
“Hello!” Severus put his sandwich to his mouth again and took a hearty bite. His black greasy bangs swayed forward as he did so. He was so hungry that his stomach gave a pleasurable warming sensation after his next few bites. He looked at Lucius and saw that he was in deep conversation with his friends. He reached across the table and grabbed a slice of ham from a plate that was loaded with slices of turkey, ham, and beef. Lucius no longer took notice of any movements that Severus made. Severus eavesdropped on their conversation after he realized that it was interesting.
“What do you mean… you got detention Crabbe?” Lucius spat.
“I got detention too.” Goyle chimed in. Words began to form at Lucius’s angry lips but it appeared that he couldn’t spit it out. Crabbe and Goyle scooted down the bench almost sitting on top of each other as they moved a short distance away from him.
“What happened?” Lucius finally shouted at them.
“We were caught off school grounds.” Goyle answered and Crabbe nodded in agreement.
“Why?” Lucius asked forcefully. Crabbe and Goyle looked at Severus and Severus looked down at his half eaten slice of ham.
“Lets talk about this in our dorm room!” Lucius took a last bite of his sub sandwich. He stood up from the bench and walked swiftly out of the Great Hall. Crabbe and Goyle stuffed their arms full of sandwiches, rolls and slices of meat before following Lucius.
They followed Lucius into their dorm room and dumped their food on their beds. The sight of it made Lucius turn away and cringed. He reminded himself, “They may be uncouth but they do have their uses.” Lucius turned to look at them again, only to be further disgusted by the sight of them sitting on the edge of their beds and eating their sandwiches from their bedspreads. He gave them a disgusted look that made Crabbe ask, “What?”
“Nothing!” Lucius sneered. He turned away from them and walked towards the window. Rain was beating softly against the windowpane. It hadn’t let up all day and it appeared that it would continue to rain into the night.
“Of all days that it had to rain… today had to be the day!” Lucius sighed.
“What’s wrong with the rain?” Crabbe asked.
“The Dark Lord says the rain is flooding the Chamber… not that it’s a bad thing. Snakes need a good soak in order to be able to shed their skins.” Lucius admitted.
“He found the Chamber?” Goyle looked at Lucius with a surprised look on his face.
“Why so surprised Goyle? Did you think that The Dark Lord wouldn’t be able to find it?” Lucius thundered at Goyle. He was curious to know why he disbelieved.
Goyle quickly nodded, “No” then changed his answer to, “Yes” and then quickly changed it back to, “No” again.
“OH… shut up Goyle!” Lucius snapped.
Crabbe sat watching Goyle from the edge of his bed. He tried to suppress a chuckle while chewing a piece of turkey.
“So… what were you two doing last night?”
Crabbe looked at Goyle before answering, “We were… following Hagrid into the forbidden forest. We were curious to see what he was up to but we got caught. Mr. Filch saw us leave and followed us.”
“Yeah… he took us to Professor Ludan and I can’t believe he gave us detention.” Goyle looked down at his fingers with a miserable expression on his face. After a few seconds silence he looked up at Lucius who was staring angrily at the rain streaked window.
“I really don’t like Professor Ludan.” Goyle whispered. Lucius looked at Goyle with a raised eyebrow and the lowered it at the sound of Crabbe’s voice, “He wants us to dust his entire office. He was complaining about how filthy all the jars are and how you can’t see any of his creatures or plants through the layers of dust on them.” Crabbe sighed. He looked down at the leftover food that lay on his bed. Lucius cleared his throat and gave a discomforted expression.
They looked up at Lucius to see that he was tapping his fingers against his lips. He appeared to be deep in thought. They kept silent as they watched him pace up and down the isle between the four-poster beds.
Without giving any explanation to Crabbe or Goyle, Lucius yelled, “DOBBY!”
Dobby apparated in front of Lucius, “Yes Master?”
“Dobby I need you to go to the game keepers hen house. I need you to kill all the roosters and bring them back here.”
Dobby began weeping, “Master… wants Dobby to… kill innocent roosters?” Lucius grabbed Dobby’s pillowcase, forcing him closer to his face and yelled at him, “NOW DOBBY!”
Dobby wiped a tear from his cheek, “Yes Sir…” he said sorrowfully.
Dobby disappeared from Lucius’s grip and twenty minutes later, he reappeared with a single white rooster that had blood from its neck that flowed down its chest. He held it out to Lucius and covered his sad tear streaked eyes with his free hand. His sobs echoed the dorm room.
“Only one Dobby?” Lucius was suspicious that Dobby didn’t kill them all.
“Yes Sir… sob hen house only has one rooster Master. sob”

“Alright then!” Lucius took the rooster and stuffed it into a pillowcase. He began to walk over towards Goyle. Dobby quickly stepped out of his way as Lucius walked to the foot of Goyle’s four-poster bed and handed the pillowcase to him, “Stuff this underneath your bed for now.”
Goyle took the rooster from Lucius’s hand and he stuffed it underneath his bed. Crabbe sat on his crumb filled bedspread looking at Dobby. Dobby was crumpled on the floor crying uncontrollably with his hands covering his face. Crabbe appeared to feel sorry for the house-elf. Lucius saw Crabbe’s expression and looked behind him at Dobby, “Dobby Hush! The whole Slytherin Dormitory will hear you if you don’t shut up!”
“Sorry Sir...” Dobby crawled under Lucius’s bed and took to sobbing more silently.

*

Severus finished eating his last sandwich. His plate cleared and looked perfectly clean as he stood up and strode out of the Great Hall. He walked down the hall towards potions class. He was eager to get back to his cauldron to see how his potion was doing. He entered the class to see Professor Ludan standing over his cauldron. Professor Ludan waved for Severus to come closer to his cauldron. Severus walked up to it and looked down at his potion.
“Everything’s going perfectly!” Professor Ludan said told him before walking up the isle towards his desk. On top of Ludan’s desk stood a smaller cauldron with a tiny burner underneath it in the center of the desk. Professor Ludan walked to the front of his desk and poured a creamy white liquid in the cauldron. Severus followed him to his desk and looked curiously into his little cauldron.
“What are you making Professor?”
“Warm Goat’s milk. I’m thirsty!” Professor Ludan smiled.
“Ewwww!” Severus said in an innocent childish voice that made Professor Ludan chuckle. Severus preferred cow’s milk to goat’s milk.
“About this time tomorrow… your potion should be finished. I wonder if any of the other students will show up to check on their potions progress?” Professor Ludan tried to make small talk.
“I don’t know Professor.” Severus watched Professor Ludan pour his milk into a goblet and drink from it. His nose twisted into a, “That’s gross!” expression.
“Well… I sure hope for everyone’s potions sake… that a lot more show up then they did today.” He took another drink and tilted his head all the way back… forgetting him self. Severus’s eyes grew big with fright. He began to back slowly away from Professor Ludan. His eyes stared directly at Ludan’s pointy ears. Ludan put his goblet down on his desk and looked at Severus.
“Severus?” He asked with a curious look on his face. Severus looked away from Ludan in an attempt to hide the fear on his face. Fear filled him and he quickly tried to make up an excuse to leave but couldn’t think of one quick enough.
“Severus… what’s wrong? You look like you just saw Nearly Headless Nick for the first time.”
“You… you’re a vampire! The rumors are true!” Severus sputtered.
“No… No… Lad! The rumors are not true. Would a vampire drink goats milk and be able to swallow without barfing?” Ludan smiled at Severus and Severus slowly returned his smile. He couldn’t believe that he had forgotten about that fact.
“Then…” Severus looked at Ludan curiously.
“I’m a Meadowland Elf… All of my people have pointy ears. It’s one of the traits we are all born with. Females have more slender petite ears. I miss my wife’s.” Ludan sighed and continued, “Unfortunately, all wizards, witches and muggles believe my people to be extinct. We are long forgotten Severus. The only Elves you hear of these days are house-elves.” Ludan smiled and said, “I can see that keeping what I am a secret is going to be harder then I thought it would be.”
“So… there are house-elves where you are from?”
“Yes… of course! You’ve met Dinky! He’s one of my house-elves.”
“You have more?” Severus had only met Dobby and Dinky. He assumed that everyone only had one house-elf.
“Yes but my wife demanded that I only bring Dinky. She likes the extra help around the house. Dinky is pretty much all the help that I need anyway.”
“Has Dinky found your book yet?” Severus remembered his earlier command to him.
“No… not yet! Give him some time though. He’s good at finding things for me.” Ludan looked down the hall. He pulled a pipe from his pocket and filled it with Barseney. He put it to his lips and it instantly began to smoke. He drew a few puffs from it and allowed white smoke to pass threw his lips.
“What’s that?” Severus asked. He had never seen anyone perform this act before.
“It’s a means to sooth one’s nerves. I wouldn’t let a young boy such as your-self try something that comes from a distant land and isn’t meant for a wizard. My people have used this medicine for centuries. You see an important festival is coming up in a week. Everyone’s going to be celebrating except myself of course and I thought…” Ludan stared at the potion classroom’s door with a far away gaze. Ludan sat quietly as he inhaled from his pipe again.
“Yes Professor?” Severus asked politely. Ludan exhaled some more white smoke but this time it came out in the shape of a dove. Severus smiled as the dove flew across the room.
“There has to be some way for me to release all my pint up energy here at Hogwarts?” Ludan looked out the window at the lightening that streaked the skies. He pointed at the lightening and said, “Like that!” Severus watched the lightening. He didn’t seem to understand what Ludan was talking about.
“Like what Professor?”
“Meadowland Elves… we generate the energy that we need within our bodies. This energy allows us to perform magical acts. Unlike Wizards and Witches… our energy builds up if we don’t use it. At the end of forty five days… if we haven’t done anything, we get ill.” Ludan looked at Severus with a serious expression.
“So… that’s why you’re smoking that pipe?”
“Yes! It keeps me from being moody and I definitely don’t want to snap at you, Severus. You’re a good kid!” Ludan answered him in a mellow fatherly tone of voice.
“How do you release your pint up energies?”
“At the festival… we let it lose like the lightening in those clouds.” Ludan pointed at the window and Severus finally understood.

Thanks! I have to admit... I probably would have dropped this if anyone didn't post. Thanks a million!

I added a page above your last post. :) I'm trying to clean this up a bit so it looks like i'm not posting a million times. I'm getting E-Book visions with this one. I just might see it to its end.

“Can you release your energy here at Hogwarts?” Severus watched Ludan exhale a new puff of white smoke.
“I think I’ll have to get permission from the headmaster to do it sometime next week. I think my biggest fear is frightening the other students. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do it discretely.” Ludan became somber as he sat next to Severus on the steps in front of his desk. He took short puffs from his pipe.
Severus stood up from the steps, walked to his desk, and checked his cauldron. He unrolled his potions parchment and read it again. He put another ingredient into his cauldron and stirred it. The yellow liquid in his cauldron changed to the same color as the goat’s milk that Ludan drank earlier. Severus looked back down the isle towards Ludan, “Professor, how many different colors is this potion going to change into?”
“The last color is white and then it should be left to simmer for the remainder of the forty eight hours.”
“It just turned white Sir.” Severus looked relieved that it had done what it was supposed to do.
“Good! You’ve done all that you’re supposed to do. Leave it to simmer.” Ludan smiled as he dumped the ashes from his pipe into a small silver box, shut the lid, and locked it with a wave of his hand. He stuffed his pipe and his silver box in his pocket and said, “It’s time for dinner. Would you like to come with me to the Great Hall?”
“Yes Sir, I’m feeling hungry,” Severus waited at his desk for Ludan to lead the way to the Great Hall. They walked together down the hall. As they entered, Ludan left Severus at the Slytherin table and walked up the long isle towards the staff tables. Ludan sat at the table to the left of Professor McGonagall. Severus sat down next to Tom Riddle. Tom didn’t seem to take notice him at all. He was to busy whispering to Lucius from across the table. Severus recognized Crabbe and Goyle but he didn’t recognize the eight other boys. The four closest to Tom listened intently to his and Lucius’s conversation as they leaned forward on the tabletop. One boy sitting beside Lucius, pushed a plate of cakes towards Severus which in turn pushed a plate of buttered rolls farther down into a large plate of half barbeque and half fried chicken legs. Severus watched the plate collision as it continued down the table. None of the boys who were deep into listening to Tom and Lucius took any notice of what was happening. After the plates stopped, Severus helped himself to filling his dinner plate. He began eating as he tried to listen almost unsuccessfully to their conversation.
“I’ve been able to duplicate this old book that I’ve found thanks to… some instructions contained in it. Look at this!”
Severus watched Tom turn towards his book bag that sat on the bench between him and one of the boys he hadn’t met yet. He pulled out a black leather journal and opened it to the front page. He placed it in front of Lucius and handed him a quill. Lucius pulled an inkwell from his bag and dipped the quill in ink.
“Write in it… ask it, “Who is Tom Riddle?”
Lucius did as he was told. He asked the book the question and watched as the ink sank into the pages and disappeared from sight.
“I think it’s broken Tom!” Lucius appeared upset that his ink disappeared. He pulled out his wand and pointed the tip at the page and said firmly, “Aparec…” Tom grabbed his wand causing Lucius to look at him with a frightened expression. Tom growled in a low tone, “Wait for it Lucius!” Lucius looked down at the page. His eyes grew big as he read the words, “I am Tom Riddle! Who are you?”
“This is Wicked Tom! It’s like I’m talking to two of you at once. How is this possible?”
“I’ve preserved myself in this diary as a backup in case something goes wrong but I must ask that you don’t write in this diary any further Lucius. My preserved self has a mind of it’s own that I can’t control and if it gets desperate… it might just have the mind to use you as a tool gain a living breathing body.” Lucius nodded in agreement and asked, “What does the other book do?”
“It appears to be a way to communicate between the wizarding world and another world. A woman by the name of Eloria keeps answering me back when I write her questions. Her gossip is quite boring but she’s very informative. She’s the one who told me where the location of the Chamber is and how to make this diary. She seems to know just about everything! Who would have thought? I’ve been looking for the Chamber for four years now and I stumble upon this old book by accident and suddenly, all my questions are answered thanks to Eloria.” Tom paused for a moment. He looked at all the boys as if to be waiting for any one of them to give a response but they all kept silent. Tom turned to Lucius and whispered to Lucius again, “Did you kill all those roosters in the hen house, Lucius?”
"Yes… I had Dobby do it because I didn’t want Crabbe or Goyle…” Lucius looked at them angrily and continued to whisper, "to get caught by Mr. Filch with the game keepers rooster in their hands."
“Smart move Lucius!” Tom looked impressed, “Deliver it to me tonight.”
“Yes Sir!”
The other boys began eating the rest of their dinner as Tom sat upright and began eating his. Severus took a bite from a barbeque chicken leg. He stopped paying attention to Tom’s conversation when James, Sirius, Peter, and Remus entered the Great Hall and sat down at the Gryffindor table. Sirius smiled at Severus and waved Severus’s book Magical Map Making in the air in a mocking, “Hello!” fashion. The book taunted him but he kept silent as he accidentally bit to hard on the chicken bone of his chicken leg. He licked his front teeth with his tongue and dropped his chicken bone a bit too hard on his plate. He picked up his napkin and wiped the barbeque sauce of his fingers and lips. He threw it down on his plate. He reached into his pocket and squeezed his wand tightly. He glared at Sirius and James angrily as he hungered to curse them for stealing his book. He looked up the isle at the staff table and looked at each professor as they talked to one another… some with happy expressions on their faces as they talked. He relaxed his grip on his wand and stood up from the table. He started to leave when he heard a voice call for him from behind him, “Severus!” Severus turned around to see that Tom and all his friends were looking directly at him. A few appeared to be angry.
“Where are you going Severus?”
“I… uh…” He glanced over at the Gryffindor table. Nobody seemed to notice him except all eight of the Slytherin boys at his own table. James and his friends were diligently reading the book they took from him.

He looked at Tom again, “I just wanted to go to my dorm room Tom.”
“Stay here Severus!” Tom said authoritatively.
“Sure!” Severus smiled meekly. Severus slowly sat back down next to Tom.
“I hear that you’ve been keeping yourself busy Severus. Lucius tells me that you did a great job of catching those Gryffindor boys out of their beds.”
“They deserved it!” Severus sneered towards the Gryffindor table.
“Stay on them Severus! We can’t have Gryffindors wandering the castle at night.” Tom patted his shoulder and began talking to Lucius again. Severus looked at the four Gryffindors. They were huddling over his book and talking in low voices. Severus looked at each of them with a curious expression. It slowly started to dawn on him, “They’re up to something!” His whole being became filled with a ‘knowing’ feeling as he looked at each of them. He knew that they would be out of their beds again on Monday night.
Tom and his gang started to stand up from the table but his eyes looked towards Severus and they all sat back down. Severus looked at Tom with confusion. He didn’t realize that Professor Dumbledore was standing directly behind him.
“Tom… How are you?” Came a fatherly voice from behind and Severus turned and looked up at Professor Dumbledore.
“Professor Dumbledore, I’m doing fine!”
“Did you… finish your homework yet?” Dumbledore tried to make polite conversation.
“Yes Sir!” Tom started to reach into his book bag but Dumbledore held out his hand, smiled, and said, “It’s good to see that you’re… still on top of things Tom.”
Professor Dumbledore turned to Severus, “Come with me!” Severus could almost feel the color draining away from his face as he nodded and said, “Yes Sir!”
Severus followed Dumbledore out of the Great Hall. They walked in silence for a small distance down the hall before Dumbledore stopped and turned to him.
“Severus… one must be careful of the company that one keeps.”
“What do you mean Professor?”
“Well…” Professor Dumbledore stroked his beard, “Although I can’t prove anything, I’ve been watchful of Tom since he first arrived here at Hogwarts. I think that it would be wise if you started putting your talents to good use and kept your own eye on him as well. Don’t be embarrassed with your abilities Severus. It was very wise of your father to teach you Occlumency. Use it well!” Professor Dumbledore knelt down in front of Severus so they had level eye contact and said, “I can see that deep down you’re a good kid Severus. I would be very unhappy if anything happened to you.” Professor Dumbledore looked sincere.
Severus shuffled his feet. He was shocked to know that Professor Dumbledore knew he was embarrassed with his capabilities and he had been shoving them aside to try to be normal like all the other kids.
“You may go to your dormitory… Severus.” Dumbledore stood up from his knee and smiled down at Severus. Severus smiled back, “Thanks Sir!”
Severus watched Professor Dumbledore walk back towards the Great Hall. He met Professor McGonagall at the Hall’s entrance. He practiced his skills on Professor McGonagall as she looked down the hall at him, “Well… he’s not much to look at but he’s pretty intelligent from what Professor Ludan’s told me.” Severus nodded at her and she smiled back at him. She turned to look at Professor Dumbledore and struck up a conversation. Severus walked down the hall towards the dungeons. He walked up to the portrait and said the password. The old wizard in the portrait was making blue, green, and yellow sparks shoot out of the end of his wand.
“You might not want to do that Fellonius! You might set yourself on fire.”
“Oh… right! That wouldn’t be good!” He tucked his wand into his robes and swung open to admit Severus inside. Severus walked down the stairs that led towards the fireplace. He wanted to sit down in front of the fire, kick off his shoes and relax. He walked over to the brown leather chair to see if anyone was sitting in it.
“Hello Severus! What am I thinking today?” Veronica teased from the brown leather chair. Severus looked at her, walked closer to her chair and folded his arms across his chest. His long greasy black bangs leaned forward in his eyes as he looked down at her, “You’re thinking… I’m a pompous little rich SNOT!” Severus laughed at her and walked off.
“How Dare You!” Veronica sat with her knees in her chair as she yelled over the back of it towards Severus.
“EASILY Veronica!” Severus yelled over his shoulder without so much as a glance back at her as he walked to his dorm room. As he reached the metal door to his room, he opened it slowly but it creaked its metal creak none-the-less. He looked inside and saw that the room was completely empty. He felt relieved that nobody was there. He would be able to relax in complete solitude away from all those students who stared at him as if he were the lowest form of life on the earth.
He walked over to his four-poster bed and sat down on the edge. He slipped off his shoes and he laid down in the middle of his bed with his hands behind his head. He looked up at the ceiling.
Not long after he laid down, he began to hear noises from under Lucius’s bed.
“Who’s there?” Severus jumped into a sitting position on his bed while bending over to look under Lucius’s bed.
“Dobby Sir!” A squeaky voice came from under the headboard.
Severus sighed with relief. For a moment he thought that someone’s snake had freed itself from its cage or perhaps there was a boggart underneath Lucius’s bed.
“Dobby… you frightened me. What’s the matter? Lucius told you to stay under there?”
“No Sir! Dobby must hide. Dobby must stay quiet but Dobby is bad!” Dobby crawled out from under the bed and started banging his head on Lucius’s bed post.”
Severus cringed because the sight of him banging his head looked very painful.
“STOP THAT!” Severus demanded but Dobby banged his head four more times before he stopped.
“Dobby had to punish himself Sir. Dobby must be quiet Sir!” Dobby rubbed the sore spot on his head.
“Well… banging your head makes a lot of noise Dobby.”
“Ugh! Dobby is very bad… very bad indeed!” Dobby looked around the room and spied a book on his master’s desk. He jumped off the bed, ran over to the desk and grabbed the book off it. He put his hand on the floor and looked as if he was about to spank it with the book in his other hand but Severus grabbed the book away from him before he could smack it down.

“Dobby? Why do you do this?” Severus questioned him.
“Master tells Dobby to punish myself when Dobby is bad Sir.”
“Will you listen to me Dobby?” Severus wondered why Dobby wouldn’t stop hitting his head when he told him to stop.
“Dobby only serves one master Sir”
Severus rubbed his forehead. He was becoming very frustrated.
“How about suggestions? Do you listen to those?”
“Yes Sir!” Dobby jumped on the bed and stood next to Severus as he listened to him with his ears perked forward.
“I suggest that if you don’t want to make anymore noise. You stop punishing yourself for tonight.”
“Yes Sir!” Dobby smiled at Severus.
“Thanks Dobby!”
Severus laid down on his bed again. He turned on his side and looked out the window. The rain wasn’t pouring down as hard as it was at lunch but it still streamed down giving the windowpane a waterfall appearance.
“Dobby wonders… does sir have house-elves?”
“No Dobby… the first house-elf that I met belongs to Professor Ludan. His name is Dinky.” Severus didn’t take his attention off the rain as he answered Dobby’s question. He slowly dozed off to sleep and Dobby pulled a blanket over him to keep him warm.
Not long after he fell fast asleep, the metal door creaked slowly open and Lucius entered with a finger to his lips, “Shhhh Dobby!” Dobby had been sitting on the edge of Lucius’s bed that faced towards where Severus slept and faced towards the dorm room door. He was watching the rising and falling of Severus’s chest as he slept under the blanket that Dobby covered him in. He didn’t make any sound of greeting as he watched his master slowly move down the isle to retrieve the bagged rooster out from under Goyles bed. Lucius caught a wiff of the dead rooster and plugged his nose quickly. He walked down the isle four steps. The rooster’s foul odor was so pungent that Lucius bent over and retched upon the floor. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve and turned to Dobby, “Take this Dobby! Take it to Tom! Tom wants it to… to… take it to him Dobby!” Lucius held the rooster out to Dobby. Dobby jumped off the edge of his bed, walked out from between the beds and sprinted down the isle towards Lucius. He took the rooster away from Lucius, snapped his fingers and disappeared taking the foul smell of the rooster with him. Lucius slow walked towards his bed, unclasped his cloak and flung it on his bedside chair. He took of his school clothes and put dressed himself in some dark blue silk pajamas. He crawled into bed, his mind uneasy with the lurching feelings in his stomach. He buried his face into his pillow trying to calm the uneasiness as best he could until he finally fell into sleep.

~Sunday~

Sunday came with the sun peaking out from behind the grey clouds. The sun slowly shined through the windowpane. Lucius moaned and pulled his blanket over his eyes to shield them. Severus did the same and rolled over.
“Master! Master! The sun shines!” Dobby jumped on Lucius’s bed. Lucius rolled over to face towards Severus’s bed. He groaned, “Shut up Dobby!”
Dobby jumped off his master’s bed, “Dobby is bad! Dobby nee…” Lucius sat up in his bed and glared down at Dobby, “Not now Dobby! Just be quiet!” Lucius snapped his fingers and pointed under his bed. Dobby glanced at Severus, he was peering at him from over his shoulder as he lay with his back to Dobby. Dobby looked at Lucius who was bearing down on him angrily with his lip sneering. He quickly ran underneath Lucius’s bed. Lucius slowly laid down again and pulled his blanket around his neck and ears. Severus put his pillow over his head. He was determined to sleep in. Crabbe and Goyle slept like the living dead as they snored in their beds.
Severus slept till 8:00AM before he awoke. He slowly opened his eyes to see that the sun was shining brightly down on him. He looked over at Lucius. Lucius was facing him and talking in his sleep but Severus could only make out the words, “Yes Father!”
Lucius rolled over and woke up after the sun spread a bright light across his face and his platinum blonde hair. He sat up, rubbed his eyes, looked up at the wall clock and laid back down on his bed again. Not long after, he completely drifted off to sleep again.
Lucius rolled on his tummy and pressed his cheek into his pillow. Severus heard him mutter, “Yes My Lord!” and gave him a confused look. A hearty wrapping echoed the room. Dobby crawled out from under Lucius’s bed and answered the door. Lucius bolted straight up and looked at the wall clock. He jumped out of bed and started getting dressed. Dobby rushed to his side, put on his shoes and tied his shoelaces. Then Dobby put his cloak over his shoulders and clasped it around his neck. Lucius held still all the while.
Tom and a boy who seemed to hide in his shadow stood in the doorway and watched Lucius as he got fussed over. Lucius stood up and walked towards them, “Did I wake you Lucius?” Lucius nodded, “Yes” as he walked out of the dorm.
“Good!” Tom felt amused and continued, “I’ve got a little test for you Lucius, a test to see how loyal you are to me. I found a house-elf with my newly acquired book last night. After I caught it with my book I had the mind to deal with it myself but then I thought… “Wouldn’t this be the greatest test ever for my Lucius?” Tom gave Lucius an evil grin.
They walked to Tom’s dorm room, entered and saw Professor Ludan’s house-elf floating in an imobulus spell. Lucius looked up at the house-elf, “What must I do?”
“Kill it!” Tom demanded as he looked at the house-elf with eager determination to see it dead for attempting to steal back the book that he stole from the house-elf’s master.
“No…” Lucius half whispered with fear as he looked at the floating house-elf. Tom shot an angry look at him, “What did you say?”
“I… I… meant to say, I don’t know how Milord.”
“Take out your wand!” Lucius did as he was told.
“Now… point it at the house-elf and say Avada Kedavra.”
Again Lucius did as he was told but his voice trembled as he repeated the spell, not knowing what would happen next… he flinched when blinding green light flashed out of the tip of his wand. His first instinct was to cover his eyes from the green light but he held his wand steady at its target. He dropped his wand on the ground after its deed was done. Dinky fell to the ground with a thud. Everyone watched the house-elf for any sign of movement. After a few minutes the house-elf moaned.

Severus Snape
06-10-2003, 12:18 PM
“Lucius… you idiot! You have to want your target to die when you use that curse!” Tom jerked his attention toward the house-elf who was now staring at Tom in complete terror once again. He looked down at the house-elf in an evil way that made Lucius almost wet himself with fear when he saw him that hatefully nasty. Tom pointed his wand at Dinky and screamed growlingly, “Avada Kedavra!” Lucius quickly covered his eyes to protect them from the blinding green light that came from Tom’s wand. The green light that came from Tom’s wand was twice as impressive as the light that came from Lucius’s. After the light disappeared, Tom looked down at the lifeless house-elf. He looked at Lucius who stood on the other side of the dead house-elf. Lucius hadn’t removed his hands from his eyes… he stood in fear that he would be next because he was unsuccessful of obeying Tom. Tom stepped lively towards Lucius and grabbed his hand from his face, “LOOK AT ME!” Lucius’s heart was pounding hard against his chest with a burning fear. He slowly lowered his other trembling hand from his face.
“Let this be a lesson to you because you WILL have to use that spell for me on many more occasions in the future so, Don’t Forget It!” Tom sneered.
“Yes Milord!” Lucius kept his eyes on Tom and tried not to look at Dinky’s lifeless form not far from where Tom had stood. Tom let go of his arm and as he did so, he pushed Lucius away from him causing him to take two steps backwards. Tom didn’t take his unblinking eyes off him and finally said, “I want your house-elf to dispose of this body immediately.” Tom pointed at the lifeless body on the floor and Lucius finally looked down at it. He took a deep breath and yelled, “DOBBY!”
Dobby apparated behind him and as he walked up to where Lucius stood he saw his wand on the ground next to him. He picked it up and handed it to him, “Yes Master?”
Lucius looked down at him, took the wand and put it in his pocket, “I want you to dispose of this dead…” He paused as he looked down at it and continued, “house-elf and be quick about it!” Lucius pointed at the lifeless body and Dobby looked at Dinky. He ran up to Dinky’s body, sat next to him and began crying over him. He blew his nose on his pillowcase before looking back at Lucius.
“Dobby doesn’t know how Sir.”
“Bury him in the forbidden forest where no one can find him!” Lucius crossed his arms over his chest and glared down at him.
“Dobby snapped his fingers and both house-elves disappeared from the room.”
“You may go Lucius!” But Tom didn’t wait for him to leave his dorm room. He walked past him, leaving him with Nott who had apparently stood behind Tom the entire time.
Lucius narrowed his eyes on him, “You’re such a coward Nott! When has The Dark Lord tested you?”
“I haven’t… I swear!” Nott’s sputtered as he backed away from Lucius.
“You will be!” Lucius sneered at him. He turned on his heel and left Nott alone in his dorm room. Lucius went back to his dorm room. He opened the door to see that Severus was gone. Crabbe and Goyle were still fast asleep in their beds. Lucius walked down the isle towards his bed and collapsed on it. He buried his face in his pillow and tried not to show the overwhelmingly sad feelings that he felt. As hard as he tried, he couldn’t prevent tears from forming in his eyes. He couldn’t hold back the sobs that came forth.
Crabbe and Goyle slept so hard that Lucius’s sobs didn’t stir them from their slumber.
After Lucius left Severus in their dorm room, Severus lay in his bed looking out the window. He soon became very bored of watching the Gryffindor Quidditch players as they practiced just outside his window. He became curious about his potion even though he knew that it was finished. He slowly pulled back his covers and slid out of bed. He dressed himself and went to potions class to see how it was doing and a part of him wondered how Professor Ludan was doing too.
He peered through the classroom door to see that the class was full of students. All of them feverishly trying to get their potions caught up. In the corner of the classroom stood James, Sirius, Remus and Peter.
They were helping each other to get each of their potions done correctly. Arthur Weasly and a girl with long red hair stood over her cauldron with curious looks on their faces.
“It looks like you put too much Arline Lizard Scales in Molly!” Arthur sounded unsure of himself as he continued, “Perhaps… let me see!” He looked down at his potion instructions, “Yes… I think if you add… no wait… oh yes… add some lilliac and stir five counter clockwise rotations and let simmer for… well… a very long time.”
“Let me see those instructions Arthur!” Molly held out her hand for his instructions and watched him as he slowly handed it over.
“Arthur… you can’t make heads or tails of these instructions! What did you spill on it?”
“I… uh… pumpkin juice,” Arthur looked at his instructions.
The whole class was buzzing with conversations and little spurts of laughter. Professor Ludan sat at his desk reading a book. His desk was slightly elevated so he could look down on all the students as they worked. Severus walked down the isle, hoping that no one would notice him. As he walked past Molly he cringed at the sound of her voice, “Snapy… I couldn’t help but notice your potion… could you help me make mine like yours?”
“Oy!” Severus swiftly turned to see the voice that came from behind him, “Molly!” Arthur put his hands on his hips as he looked Severus over. He bit his lower lip and Severus guessed that he wasn’t going to say a word of protest to Molly’s question. Severus leaned towards her desk and looked down into her cauldron. He saw a strange looking pink liquid with a lilac smell emanating from it.
“Are you brewing potpourri?” Severus tried to stifle a chuckle and didn’t care that he was unsuccessful.
“Heavens No Snape… I was trying to make… well… you know!”
“Alma Affligo Animus.” Severus’s calmly said. He felt an annoyance at her lack of knowing the potions name. He wondered if she had even tried to make an effort to get her potion right, “What have you done so far?” He asked as he shot another glance down at her potion. The sweet fumes began to make his stomach nauseous but he bore with it as he listened to her answer.
“Well… I put the flame on high heat to allow it to boil; added four cups swamp water, three tablespoons chamomile, and… well… I put in Arline Lizard scales and Arthur here thought it needed some two scoops dried Liliac.”
Severus looked at Arthur who looked a bit abashed and said, “There’s no saving it! It’s rubbish Molly! Clear it out!” Severus turned on his heel and walked down the isle towards Professor Ludan’s desk. Molly looked bewildered as she watched him walk away. Ludan looked up from a book he was reading and took on an expression of relief.
“Severus… what a surprise! I didn’t think I would see you here today!” Professor Ludan smiled.

“I’m bored Professor.” Severus admitted.
“Do you have any homework you can do?”
“I’ve finished it already.” Severus leaned against the front of Ludan’s desk.
“Well… have a look at this.” Ludan held up the book he was reading. Severus’s eyes grew big with joy as he read the cover, Magical Map Making.
“You got it back! How…?” Ludan held a finger to his lips. Severus didn’t realize that his voice was echoing all over the classroom.
“I’m a Professor Severus! I asked for it when they…” Ludan pointed towards James and his mates, “came in this morning and they all apologized for being rude to us. I explained to them that I already told Professor McGonagall about what they had done and she’ll talk to them about it on Monday.”
“That’s good! I hope they get detention for what they did to me.”
“Yes! They will… but… Something’s wrong Severus.” Ludan took on a more distressed appearance.
“What’s wrong Professor?”
“Not here… please come in my office,” Ludan pointed towards his office door. Severus walked down the steps towards the door with Ludan following him. Ludan walked over to his desk and sat down behind it. Severus sat down at a leather chair that Ludan pointed at.
“Severus… Dinky isn’t coming to me when I call him. It seems like I’ve called him a million times since 8:00PM last night and still he doesn’t come. It’s not like him to be this disobedient. I’m at my wits end wondering what happened to him if anything happened to him. It’s so frustrating… I can’t contact my wife, Eloria to tell her what’s going on because someone stole my old book. I love my wife but she’s… she’s… so kind and generous to everyone she meets. I’m afraid that if my book gets into the wrong hands… she’ll blab every sort of thing to whoever has my book.” Ludan paused to breath and continued, “Not only that… but the book contains the entire history of Hogwarts within its pages.”
Ludan looked at Severus to see that he was hanging on his every word but he had a very sad look in his eyes.
“I’m sorry Severus! I probably shouldn’t have told you all this. You probably have your own problems right now… with having to do homework and… my lessons and what not. I shouldn’t burden you with my problems. I’m going to have a talk with Professor Dumbledore later anyway.” Ludan rested his chin in the palms of his hands as he propped his elbows upon his desk. Severus had never seen him so sorrowful.
“It’s alright Professor. I don’t mind!”
“Dinky is my best friend! Do you know how old I am Severus?” A tear streaked down Ludan’s cheek.
“No sir!” Severus chocked out. Watching Ludan’s tear made him feel a painful sensation in his chest.
“I am one thousand five hundred years old. Dinky is two thousand years old Severus. He was my play friend when I was a young boy, he practically raised me when my parents were away on business… he’s been my friend all my life and I can’t bear the thought of losing him.” Another tear streaked down Ludan’s cheek. Severus stood up and walked over to Professor Ludan. He put a hand on his shoulder to try to comfort him, “I’m sure he’ll turn up Professor.”
“I hope so Severus! This behavior is so abnormal for a house-elf though. I’ve never had to punish Dinky before. He’s so faithful… so obedient! I hate the thought of having to give him punishments.”
“You’re a good master Professor.” Severus said honestly. He sighed as he thought about the way that Lucius treats Dobby.
Ludan looked at the clock on his desk, “Severus it’s lunch time. You should go get a bite to eat.”
“Yes Sir!” Severus left Ludan’s office and headed out of the classroom. As he was leaving, Professor Dumbledore was walking in.
“Excuse me Severus!” Dumbledore said politely as he walked past him. Severus walked down the hall towards the Great Hall. He entered and walked over to the Slytherin table. He looked for Lucius but he was nowhere to be seen, nor Tom. Crabbe and Goyle sat pigging their sandwiches and finger foods. Severus sat down next to them and filled his plate with a hot dog. He wasn’t feeling very hungry. He ate his cheese filled hot dog and left Crabbe and Goyle to continue their feast. He walked to the Great Hall’s entrance and looked out into the hall.

Meanwhile…

Lucius stood before the window in his dorm room. He leaned against the windowsill as he looked across the open clearing of grass that lay before the forbidden forest. He gritted his teeth with tension as he waited for the return of his house-elf. He hoped that everything went according to what he told Dobby to do. He hoped that Dobby buried the elf where nobody could see or find it. Lucius looked at the wall clock to see the time. His tummy grumbled for him to eat a bite of lunch.. He stood up from his bed and walked towards the metal door to leave. Dobby appirated before him and grabbed his leg.
“Dobby! Get off me!” Lucius kicked Dobby off his leg and Dobby started sobbing.
“Dobby is bad Sir! Sob! Dobby heard a noise in the forbidden forest. Sob! Dobby knows Dobby mustn’t be seen. Sob! Dobby disappeared out of sight but house-elf body was seen Sir.” Sob!
“OH NO!” Lucius looked down at Dobby with shock and horror in his eyes, “Dobby… you know what you must do!”
Dobby gave out a loud cry as he jumped on top of Lucius’s four-poster bed and began banging his head against his bedpost.
The door swung open and hit the wall with a thud. Lucius watched Tom as he swiftly walked towards him with an angry finger pointed at his face.
“Guess who just showed up in the hospital wing Lucius!” Tom snapped at Lucius with an angry glare in his eyes. Dobby quit hitting his head on the bedpost. His eyes grew big as he watched them.
“I don’t know Milord…” Lucius lied in a trembling frightened tone of voice.
“The house-elf that I killed this morning. Why did they find it so quickly?” Tom snapped again.
“I… don’t… Umpfff!”

Tom stepped quickly to Lucius and backhanded him across his face, nearly knocking him to the ground.
“I don’t want explanations! I want unblemished obedience LUCIUS!” Tom yelled at him.
“Y-Yes… Sir…” Lucius sobbed as he regained his balance and held his sore cheek in the palm of his hand.
Tom grabbed his arm; forcefully pulling him close, and yelled in his ear, “DON’T – let - this - happen - again!”
“Y-yes… S-sir...” Lucius’s voice trembled with fear and sorrow.
Tom pushed his arm away and he stumbled backwards against the end of his bed, forcing him to sit down next to where Dobby stood. Dobby put a hand on his shoulder to stabilize him. Tom glared angrily at both of them in turn. He turned on his heel and left the dorm room mumbling, “Idiotic boy!” He slammed the metal door behind him and both Lucius and Dobby flinched at the sound of it.
“This is all your fault Dobby!” Lucius sobbed but Dobby cried the loudest.
“Dobby is sorry Master!” Dobby blew his nose on his pillowcase and crawled under Lucius’s bed.

In the hospital wing…

Professor Dumbledore entered the hospital with Professor Ludan at his side. Dumbledore pointed to the lifeless body of a house-elf that lay limply upon a bed. Madam Pumfry sat in a chair next to the bed. She dabbed her eyes ever now and then to wipe away the tears. She looked down at Dinky with puffy red eyes.
Professor Ludan ran down the isle and collapsed at Dinky’s bedside. He embraced his house-elf tightly as he buried his face into Dinky’s pillow sham and cried.
“Dinky? Dinky wake up!” He moaned sorrowfully as he continued to wipe his tears on Dinky’s pillow sham.
“Someone – please - tell me what happened,” Ludan pleaded.
A slender woman with long black hair and cat like facial features entered the hospital. She walked down the isle and stood next to Professor Dumbledore.
“Did you find anything else Felonia?”
“No Sir but I can just about guarantee… that nothing in the forbidden forest killed this poor creature Sir. I believe that the Avada curse did this wicked deed.”
“I believe so as well Felonia!” Dumbledore looked at Ludan to see that he was looking up at them and listening to them intently.
“Albus… The last command I gave my house-elf was to find my stolen book. I believe that whoever has my book, did this. There can be no other explanation!” Ludan explained.
“I think you’re right Ludan,” Dumbledore nodded his head in agreement and said, “I’ll send an owl to the Ministry of Magic explaining what happened today. I’m sure they’ll be willing to send a detective to help figure out what happened to your house-elf.”
“Thanks Albus!” Ludan slowly laid Dinky’s limp body upon the bed. He stood up from Dinky’s bedside, “I… I… should get back to class.”
“I’ll keep you informed!”
“Thanks Albus!” Ludan bowed and departed the hospital. He tried to regain his composure as he walked down the hall.
“Professor Ludan!” Severus called down the hall towards him.
“Severus?” Ludan looked up the hall at Severus. Severus was sprinting down the hall towards him.
“Finished eating lunch?”
“Yes Sir! I wasn’t all that hungry though.”
“Well… Felonia the Grounds Keeper, found Dinky.”
“She did? Where ‘s Dinky?” Severus lit up with happiness. Ludan’s heart burned with pain as he looked down at Severus’s happy face.
“Resting peacefully in the hospital wing,” Ludan didn’t have the heart to tell him the truth and left it at that. He stopped in the hall, “Do you really want to spend the rest of your day in class Severus? It’s a beautiful sunny day. You should go outside and enjoy the sunshine.”
“Everyone picks on me! Please Sir… let me come to class!” Severus pleaded.
“Those Gryffindor boys are still working on their potions. All but one has finally turned yellow. I suppose you can stay in my office if you want to be alone.”
“Thanks Sir!”
The rest of the day passed quickly for Severus. Ludan let him inside his office, “I need to stay in the classroom so I can answer any questions that the other students might have and help them if they need help.” Severus nodded in agreement. After Ludan shut his door, Severus walked up and down the rows of jars that lined Professor Ludans shelves. He tapped on the glass of a jar that had an odd looking creature floating around inside it. He read the spines of all the potions books that Ludan owned. He pulled one that said Potions for Enemies. He opened the book and read the first page, WARNING: These potions should not be given to your friends as well as their dogs, cats, frogs or rats. Severus chuckled at the poetic warning and sat down in Ludan’s black leather chair. He propped it in his lap as he continued to read all the potions contained within its pages. There was a whole chapter on prankster potions. The potion on the first page had an interesting potion for turning your enemies into lollypop shades of color and all the colors were listed in flavors. Severus imagined Peter looking like a Vomit colored Lolly, Sirius looking like a Tutti-Fruitti colored Lolly, James as a Sardine colored Lolly and Remus as a Grass colored Lolly. He chuckled at the images of them in his head as he read the instructions and ingredients needed to make each potion.
As the hours wore on, Severus began to doze off in the darkness of Ludan’s office. His hands grew limp and the potions book fell from his lap, onto the floor next to his feet. He lay comfortably in the plush leather chair. His black hair and school clothes blending into the black leather of the chair.
After all the students left the classroom, Ludan walked into his office. He saw Severus sleeping in his chair and gently nudged his shoulder, “Severus! You need to wake up or you’ll miss dinner!”
Severus slowly roused, sat up and looked for the book he was holding. Ludan had already walked around the chair and picked it up. He smiled as he read the cover, “My favorite childhood book!” He handed it to Severus, “Keep it Severus! You’ll have lots of fun with it… but I don’t want to see any of the students turn into Boggy flavored frogs or Lollypop colors!”

Severus took the book from him and smiled at him, “Yes Sir! Thank you Sir!”
“We should go to dinner now! It’s already started!” Ludan said as he looked down at his pocket watch.
They walked to the Great Hall. Ludan left Severus to sit with at the Slytherin table. Ludan walked down the isle towards the Slytherin table and sat down next to Madam Pumfry. Severus sat down next to a skinny little boy with light brown hair. He had seen the boy once before but took no note of him. The skinny boy sat next to Crabbe and Goyle. They sat pigging their food in their usual fashion.
"Do you want your garlic bread Nott?" Goyle asked even though the food was plentiful on the midway of the table in front of their newly emptied plates. Nott sheepishly handed his garlic bread to Goyle and picked a new one from large plate in front of Tom. Tom didn't spare him a glance as he did so.
"Thanks Nott!" Goyle said after taking two bites of Nott's garlic bread.
Tom and Lucius sat in front of each other but were not engaged in their normal conversations. Tom ate while writing in a parchment. Lucius stared off into space and sparsely his dinner. Crabbe looked down the table towards him and became concerned.
"What's wrong Lucius?" Crabbe asked and Nott went pale. Lucius was staring at the Great Hall's large double doors with a far away expression on his face. At hearing Crabbes voice, he slowly turned to look at him, "Nothings wrong with me Crabbe!" Lucius snapped and Crabbe flinched. Nott jumped up from the bench and quickly left without so much as a, "by your leave sir?"
Tom didn't seem to notice or care as he wrote his nightly prefect report on his parchment and ate some finger foods.
"Glad that little cowards gone!" Lucius watched Nott leave, "I don't know what you see in him Tom... I know everyone has a purpose but what purpose is he supposed to serve?"
Tom's lips moved to answer but Severus spoke first, "I don't know Lucius! What purpose do you serve?"
"Wouldn't you like to know SEVERUS!" Lucius stared at him angrily. Tom looked up from his parchment and stared at Severus and Lucius with annoyance. His lips pursed to thin lines as he almost crumples his parchment in his hand, he spoke, "Everyone has their uses Lucius! Even Severus has his uses and Nott will have his as well." Tom looked down at his parchment and flattened it out atop the table. He began writing on it again.
Lucius stood up from the table and walked out of the Great Hall. Severus watched him leave but couldn't take his mind off what Tom said. He thought to himself, "What does he mean, "Even Severus has his uses?"
Severus went to bed that night wondering what he was being used for. He tossed and turned beneath his sheets until his mind allowed him to fall asleep.

~Monday~

Severus thought that on Monday James Potter and his friends would sneak about the castle and be out of bed but he was mistaken. It wasn't till the following Monday that he would finally catch them out of their beds. Finding where they went was not as easily as the last time he found them but sure enough he found them in a wing of the castle that had been sectioned off due to the need to make repairs in a few cracks along the ceiling in the right hand side of the large room that looked like it had been used as a ballroom in days long past.
Severus walked towards two beautifully decorated white double doors. It appeared as though Severus had finally found James and his friends. One of the doors had been left ajar and he could hear voices inside. He peaked through the door to see where the voices were coming from. He was awe struck by the ballrooms splendid beauty. The ballroom appeared to radiate with a soft glow and even though the dust appeared to be an inch thick, the pillars sparkled with twinkling white lights.
Severus took a step inside to get a better look around and saw James and his friends at the farthest left side of the ballroom. They stood in front of a sparkly white door that had green vines carved into the doors frame. At the top of, the words Sic tansit gloria mundi! were carved.
Remus walked up to the door and turned the handle. The door was locked and wouldn’t budge. Remus pulled his wand from his pocket, pointed the tip at the knob and said, “Alohomora!” but still the door stayed locked.
“I think the doors enchanted Remus,” James said as he pointed at the doors keyhole, “It must be a funny looking key that fits in that hole.”
Sirius stepped forward, “Does anyone know what that means?” He pointed at the words at the top of the door.
After a few minutes silence between them all, Peter stepped forward, pointed towards the word transit and said, "It says... transit! Perhaps... it is a passageway?"
Severus slowly backed out of the room. His second stepped landed him against something solid and it put a hand on his right shoulder. Severus froze with fright.
“Severus… it’s not wise to be out of bed at this hour,” Professor Dumbledore said in his warm fatherly voice. Severus looked up at him and forced a nervous grin. He pointed towards the ballroom door, “I caught them out of bed and followed them Sir.”
Dumbledore looked over his half moon glasses towards the door that still stood ajar, “This is a sacred place Severus… I’m going to have to ask that you… do not return to this place. After I discipline James and the rest of them… I’ll have to take you to see Professor Ludan… understand?”
“Yes Sir!” Severus
Professor Dumbledore walked past Severus, into the ballroom. He saw James and Remus standing in front of the white door. Sirius and Peter were looking at some of the old and decaying furniture in the ballroom.
“You boys know that you’re not allowed out of your beds at night,” Dumbledore said in a firm voice. All four boys turned to see Professor Dumbledore. Their faces filled with shock and surprise. None of them offered up excuses for being in the ballroom.
“This is your second offense… I think its only appropriate… that each of you lose ten points a piece. I’ll be telling Professor McGonagall about this and I warn you boys… this is a sacred place… do not trespass here again,” Dumbledore looked over his half moon glasses with all seriousness upon him. Sirius, Remus and Peter replied, “Yes Sir!”

James caught sight of Severus entering the ballroom and walking behind Dumbledore. Severus looked at James, crossed his arms over his chest and glared back at him angrily.
“What’s he going to get Sir?” James asked as he looked at Dumbledore once again.
“That’s not for me to decide James… I want you boys off to bed now. Follow me Severus!”
Severus walked beside Dumbledore out of the ballroom. James and his friends followed them and turned down a different hall to go to the Gryffindor Tower. Dumbledore took Severus to Professor Ludan’s office and knocked on the door.
“Yes… Come in!” Ludan sounded irritated by the interruption as he sat at his desk grading parchments. A dusty old book rested to the right corner of his desk but it sat untouched as if it had sat there for ages. Ludan looked towards his office door and watched Dumbledore enter with Severus following behind him. He needed no explanation from Dumbledore. Ludan nodded at him and said, “Out of bed again Severus?” Dumbledore silently left the office and shut the door behind him. Severus walked to the front of Ludan’s desk and said, “Yes sir!” Severus could see by the candlelight that Ludan looked paler then usual.
“Severus… you know I’m going to have to take off another five points for this.”
“Yes sir!” Severus looked down at Ludan’s desk and his eyes caught sight of a beautiful girl who was dancing gracefully in a moving picture. She had light blue eyes and long blonde hair. She appeared to be in her teens.
“That’s my daughter,” Ludan picked up the picture and looked at it sorrowfully.
“Can you see her sir?”
“No… it’s not permitted. You should go to bed Severus. You have classes tomorrow,” Ludan leaned into the candlelight, pulled his pipe and silver box from his pocket. His hands trembled as he took a pinch of Barseney from the silver box, stuffed it in his pipe and lit it. He put his pipe to his lips and drew a puff from his pipe as he slowly relaxed into his large black leather chair.
“Sir?” Severus began to worry about him after watching his trembling hands.
“I don’t feel good Severus,” Ludan looked at him with a vacant expression and continued, “Off to bed with you… now!”
“But sir… you said,” Severus stopped his sentence and stepped backwards two paces. The last time he saw Ludan this angry was the first night that he’d been caught out of bed.
Ludan stood up from his chair, leaned forward on his desk and said, “SEV…” Ludan yelled but stopped himself as he tried to contain his temper, “erus…please… don’t worry about me! I’ll be all right! Go to bed!” Ludan begged him. He slowly sat down again and took another shaky puff from his pipe. He watched Severus as he left his office and shut the door behind him. Severus walked up to the portrait of the old wizard, Fellonius who was fast asleep in his brown leather chair with cat claw legs. Severus said the password several times but Fellonius snored away. Severus put his hands on his hips and screamed, “CRUCIO!” at the top of his lungs. Fellonius jumped straight up and slid out of his chair to a sitting position in front of it. It almost looked as though he could have jumped nearly out of his frame with fright and Severus laughed.
“That’s not funny lad! Nearly wet ma’self!” The old wizard said while grasping his chest with his right hand. Severus continued to laugh and only stopped long enough to say the password. The old wizard was a good sport and grinned down on Severus as he swung open to admit him inside.
Everyone inside appeared to be fast asleep in their beds. Severus went to his dorm room. He opened the creaky metal door, shut it slowly and walked over to his four-poster bed. He dove on top of it and kicked his shoes off the end of his bed and onto the floor. Lucius rolled onto his side and moaned with a wincing look of anguish after hearing Severus’s shoes hit the floor. Crabbe and Goyle didn’t stir. Severus could hear Crabbe and Goyle as they snored loudly in their beds. He put his pillow over his head to muffle their noise. He soon drifted off to sleep.

~ Tuesday ~

The sun was slow to shine because of the cloud cover. Severus woke with the usual nudge from Lucius. His demanding words in his ears, faint at first and then loud and clear, “GET UP! Honestly… I don’t know why I even bother with you! Except for the fact… you’ll cause us to lose HOUSE POINTS if you you’re late and you’ve already lost us enough house points as it is!”
“Lucius please…” Severus moaned as he rubbed his eyes and yawned, “Who wants to go to Muggle History class anyway?”
“I certainly don’t! I don’t want anything to do with Mudbloods!” Lucius gave Severus an aggravated look. Severus sat up in his bed and looked down at his wrinkled clothes. He quickly changed his clothes, gathered put his Muggle History book, parchments, quill and inkbottle and stuffed them into his black bag. He followed Lucius out of their dorm room.
They arrived at Professor Binns classroom right on time. Severus sat next to Lucius and Veronica sat with Narcissa across the isle from them. Lucius looked completely dejected at the thought of having to learn about muggles and their things, “I don’t see the point in having to learn about muggle history and muggle things!” He flipped open the front cover of his history book and turned to chapter one’s Getting acquainted with Muggles. He read the first chapter to himself. It’s important to begin this chapter with a word of warning. Muggles are non-magic folk and it is very important that we wizards and witches do not perform a single act of magic in front of them. It could be frightening to them and perhaps damaging to them if they see us perform magic that they’re not accustomed to seeing in their world.
“Well… everyone knows that!” Lucius pointed down at the paragraph and looked at Severus. Severus leaned towards his book and looked down at the paragraph. He read the first to sentences and nodded in agreement. Lucius flipped through the chapters and stopped at a chapter called, Muggles and Their Inventions He caught sight of a picture of a sleek black Ford Mustang – 1966. His mouth dropped as his eyes looked at every detail of the car. He looked around the classroom to see if anyone was watching him and then looked at the picture again. Under the picture he read the first paragraph, Muggles have replaced the horse and carriage with these metal modes of transportation, called the Automobile or commonly called the car. These cars have four rubber wheels that blow up with air, head lamps so they can see at night, mechanical guts called engines, and metal doors.

Severus Snape

These cars also require a good hearty feeding every so often so they don’t get tired and decide not to move for the driver. They eat a black substance called petrol and the petrol goes to their bellies. Their bellies are called tanks and the petrol is stored there until their car sees fit to eat it.
Lucius stopped reading and looked at the car longingly. He watched as it drove down a road and then jumped as he saw a car drive past it in the opposite direction.
“Have you ever touched one of these Severus?” He asked.
“Nope!” Severus answered flatly as he looked at the Ford Mustang in Lucius’s book.
Lucius hadn’t noticed that Professor Binns had already said hello to the class and told them to read chapter two of their textbooks to themselves and answer the questions at the end of the chapter. Severus caught him up and they sat silently while they read the chapter.
Before the bell rang, Professor Binns addressed the class, “As you all know by now… Every Tuesday has been dedicated to The Dueling Club. I want all of you students to make you way to The Great Hall to attend. Today Professor Ludan and I will be dueling.” A few students in the class jumped from their seats as they cheered, whistled and clapped their hands with excitement.
“I can see I’m going to have an excellent audience!” Professor Binns smiled and continued, “All right! Settle down and save your excitement for the actual duel please!”
The students that were standing sat back down at their desks and the class became quiet again. Five minutes later, the bell rang and the students left the classroom as quickly as they could. Lucius and Severus stayed at their desks and waited for them all to move out of their way. Narcissa grabbed Lucius under his arm and jerked him towards her.
“Narcissa…” Lucius said breathlessly.
“You don’t have to be such a gentleman Lucius! Just push these twits out of your way!” She scolded him as she shoved two Gryffindor first-years into a desk and jerked Lucius down the isle. Severus followed them to the Great Hall. All four of the house tables had been removed and one single dueling platform stood in the middle of the Great Hall. Atop the dueling platform was a long blue padded mat with each phase of the silver moon. Severus followed them to the front of the dueling table and he stood beside Lucius. All the Slytherins stood to the left side of the table with the Ravenclaws and the Gryffindors stood to the right side of the table with the Hufflepuffs.
Severus watched with shock on his face as Professor Ludan mounted the dueling table. He was wearing cream coloured business attire with a cloak that hung to his heals. Old fashion white lace hung from his jackets sleeves to his knuckles. He wore white leather gloves. He no longer appeared to be weak and pale but instead, gallant and dignified. His long platinum blonde hair was tied with a bow at the nape of his neck. He stood with his back straight and his shoulders back, as is his usual posture.
Professor Ludan looked at all the happy faces that stared up at him. He nodded with a smile towards Severus after finding him amongst the crowd. Severus looked up at him with an inner feeling of admiration. Professor Ludan walked over to him, took off his cloak and handed it to him. Severus took it and slung it over his shoulder. Professor Ludan walked back to the spot where he had stood. Professor Ludan’s attention was taken off the happy students as he watched Professor Binns mount the dueling table.
“Professor Binns… good to see you’ve made it! I guess there’s no scaring you off!” Professor Ludan said slyly.
“No Sir… you couldn’t frighten me off! I’m up for the challenge!” Professor Binns smiled. Professor Ludan pulled out a wand that looked older then the sands of time from his pocket, “I want you students to stand back. I don’t want anyone to get hurt!” Professor Binns pulled his wand from his pocket. Professor Ludan and Professor Binns bowed to each other in a dignified way. They both took their dueling stances and eyed one another calculatingly. Professor Binns counted, “1… 2… 3… Algora! Binn’s wand blasted a bright blue stream of light directly towards Ludan’s chest.
Professor Ludan dropped his wand and it bounced on the platform a few times before resting beside his shoe. His right arm thrust out in front of him and a brilliant white shield swirled to form a barrier that protected him from being hit by the Algora spell. Binn’s stream of blue light hit it and dispersed into blue sparkles that faded into thin air.
The crowd of students gasped and awed. Their eyes wide with the shock of what Professor Ludan did.
Professor Ludan took a few steps forward, his face full of determination, he thrust out his gloved hand and his shield burst into sparks that quickly faded and burned out. The children continued to stare in wide-eyed amazement as they watched the same bright blue light shot out of the tips of Professor Ludan’s gloved fingertips. The stream of blue light struck Binns in his chest. He fell to the platform's mat and began to shiver uncontrollably. His face turned white as snow and his teeth began to chatter. He continued shivering for three minutes before his body began to warm up again. Professor Ludan walked down the table to him and knelt down beside him. He helped him to his feet and messaged his backside.
“How… did you do… that without your wand?” Professor Binns asked nervously.
“I… uh…” Ludan looked down at his wand. It still lay where it fell.
“That’s amazing Professor. You’re the only wizard I know of that can perform magic without using a wand. That’s an incredible gift you have!” Binns smiled as he rubbed his hands up and down his arms and shoulders, still giving jerking spurts of shivers.
“Thanks Professor!” Ludan smiled back. He looked around at all the students, “I think we should allow two students to try their hands at dueling.”
Ludan looked at Severus, “Come on Severus! Get up here!” Severus jumped up on the table and walked over to Ludan. Ludan bent down and whispered, “Whom do you want to duel with?”
Severus remembered how Sirius Black had roughly slammed him against the wall and said, “Sirius Black Sir!”
Ludan stood up strait and said, “Will a Sirius Black come forward please!”
Sirius jumped up on the table at the opposite end of where Severus stood. Severus looked down the table at him and pulled his wand out of his pocket. His black steely eyes narrowed on him angrily. He pointed his wand at Sirius in a dueling posture and took a few steps towards Sirius. Ludan put his hand on Severus’s shoulder to stop his pace.

“All right boys! I want a good clean match! Please be cautious because I do not want either of you two to end up in the hospital wing,” He paused and watched as both boys nodded in agreement, “Good! Wands ready now!”
Sirius pulled his wand out of his pocket and pointed it towards Severus.
“At the count of three… 1… 2… 3!” Severus had been thinking about which spell he wanted to use but could only think of the pain he felt after Sirius slammed him against the wall. He yelled, Inflamus! A red flame shot out of the tip of his wand and struck Sirius in his chest. Sirius fell to his knees screaming violently. He fell to his side clutching his chest tightly with both of his hands and had only stopped screaming long enough to moaned, “I’m burning!” His body shook violently and he started to scream again. He screamed for nearly two minutes. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he lay upon the tabletop. It felt as though his whole inner being had burst into flames even though he didn’t appear to be on fire at all. Nobody watching understood why he was in such terrible pain… nobody except Severus and Professor Ludan.
Severus tried to run off the platform but Ludan caught him under the arm and held him firmly at his side. Severus could feel Ludan’s hand trembling as he held him. Severus looked up at Ludan and saw that he was looking at Sirius with an expression of anguish. Ludan took Severus over to Sirius and Ludan knelt down beside Sirius. Sirius was breathing deeply in a fetal position, his arms wrapped tightly around his knees. Tears continued to stream down his cheeks. James, Remus and Peter jumped up on the platform and tried to comfort him but they were very unsuccessful. Sirius was gritting his teeth so tightly that he could no longer speak nor moan anything.
“It’ll be over soon Sirius! I know that this is going to be hard for you but I need you to relax a bit!”
Sirius wouldn’t unhinge his arms from his legs. He refused to move or respond to Ludan. Sweat began to bead upon his forehead and trickled down his cheeks and nose. Ludan could see that the situation was becoming dangerously serious.
“Please Sirius… I can’t help you unless you relax. Lay flat on your back… please!” Ludan begged him. Sirius took a few gasps of air and began to breath heavy. He very slowly rolled onto his back. His hands fell beside his head and he grabbed his hair tightly with his fingers, his hands pulling at his hair in his fists. He lifted his head slightly off the platform's mat and looked at Severus, “YOU… I’ll get you back for this SEVERUS!” Sirius feebly struggled to get to his feet but Ludan put his hand on Sirius’s shoulder and held him firmly against the mat. Sirius let out a moan and doubled over on his side. He retched what looked like a mixture of blood and vomit upon the platform.
Professor Binns had spent this time trying to calm the students but after hearing Sirius, he ran to Ludan’s side knelt down next to him, “This boy needs to go to the hospital wing Professor!” He took a deep breath and said, “He might even have to go to St. Mungos Professor!”
“No! No! There’s no time for all that… He has to be healed here and now or he’ll burn alive from the inside out!”
Professor Binns covered his face with his old wrinkled hand and gasped, “I never used that curse before… I never knew it was so deadly!”
Ludan ignored Binns’s last words and addressed Sirius, “Alright lad… this is going to feel cold for a few minutes but it will heal you from the inside out… Do you understand?”
Sirius nodded; “yes” Ludan slowly put his hand at the nape of Sirius’s neck making sure to have good skin contact. He concentrated on extinguishing the burning sensation inside Sirius. Sirius soon shivered at the feeling of the coldness that swept through his body.
“Alright that should take care of that!” Ludan removed his hand from Sirius’s neck and stood up. Sirius curled up into a sitting position. He resting his arms upon his knees and looked down in between his legs at the mat. He took a slow shuddering breath that felt icy to his nostrils and released it just as slow; it felt just as icy as he exhaled.
“Are you all right Sirius?” Remus asked with concern. Sirius slowly looked up at him to discover that he was sitting directly in front of him. James and Peter were sitting on either side of Remus and looking at him with the same concern on their faces.
“Yesss!” Sirius voice shuddered as he answered them. He stood up and they all followed. He turned around to face Professor Ludan and saw that Severus was still standing beside him, wand resting at his side and held tightly in his hand. Sirius took a few steps forward and tried to grab at Severus but Ludan stepped in his way. Sirius pointed an angry finger at Severus, “You MARK MY WORDS! I’ll get you back for this Snively!” Sirius yelled at him. He tried to step around Ludan to make another grab at Severus but Ludan’s hand pushed him back three paces and James grabbed Sirius to help him keep his balance on the platform.
“Now that’s quite enough Sirius!” Ludan glared at Sirius angrily. He looked around at the students, “I do believe this duel’s come to its end. I would like the Hufflepuff house to exit first, then Slytherin house, then Ravenclaw house and finally the Gryffindor house. Please - leave - accordingly!” Ludan looked at Professor Binns who was standing beside him and he nodded in agreement.
“Severus, come with me!” Ludan walked to the end of the platform and walked down the wooden stairs to make his way out of the Great Hall. Severus followed after him. They walked to Ludan’s office and Ludan pointed at the leather chair that sat in front of his desk. Severus sat down and watched Ludan as he paced back and forth behind his desk. He rubbed his chin as he walked. Severus became nervous and uncomfortable but stayed quite for fear that speaking would cause himself to be yelled at.
“Severus… a child as young as you… shouldn’t know such terrible curses. Why did you do it Severus?”
Severus looked away from Professor Ludan. He didn’t have a logical answer for what he did.
“I did it… because I hate him sir! He’s mean to me and I felt he deserved it!” Severus finally said defiantly.
“Severus… nobody deserves to die that way! Nobody! Do you understand?”
“Yes sir!” Severus hung his head feeling more shame then before. Professor Ludan could feel the shame that Severus was feeling as he looked down at him and a short period of silence fell between them.
“Payback eh?” Ludan asked.
“Yes Sir!” Severus lifted his head a little but still couldn’t bring himself to look directly at Ludan.
“Well… try not to use curses next time. You can always choose to embarrass them instead,” Ludan suggested.
“How many points have I lost from my house this time sir?” Severus was more anxious to leave his office then to listen to the answer.

“Severus… if you had killed him… and trust me, if I wasn’t there to save Sirius at that moment, you would have successfully killed him… and right now you would be in Professor Dumbledore’s office getting expelled.” Ludan paused to see Severus’s reaction, only to see him slowly slumped forward in his armchair and his head sunk lower into his knees. Ludan again felt his shame at the thought of being expelled. Severus sat in fear of becoming a disgrace to his family. The thought of being packed up and sent back home to face his father, sent shivers up his backside.
“How much do you think you should lose?” Ludan asked as he walked in front of his desk and half sat, half leaned against it as he folded his arms across his chest. He looked down on Severus’s black greasy head and waited for a reply. Severus was looking down at his feet, “I don’t know sir!”

Professor Ludan thought for a short while, “I’m going to let this slide Severus. If you promise not to do it again.” Ludan said softly.
“I promise Sir!” Severus knew he couldn’t keep this promise. Every time he saw James and his gang, he looked around to see if a teacher was present and if no teacher was within sight of him, he yearned to blast them with whatever curse came to his mind. He looked up at Ludan and smiled, “Thank you Sir!”
“You’re Welcome! Lunch should be starting soon so… go get a bite to eat! I’ve got parchments to finish grading.”
“Yes… Er… Sir? Don’t you eat lunch?” Severus looked at him curiously.
“No… I don’t eat lunch meals but I know enough to know that you should go eat.” Ludan smiled. Severus turned to leave, still looking confused. He left him alone in his office and walked to the Great Hall.
Everyone at the Slytherin table looked at him with smiles, which was a bit unnerving to Severus. He looked around at each of them and for a split second he flicked a smile at them but it quickly vanished.
“Severus come sit next to me!” Tom gestured him to come to him with a wave of his hand. Severus walked over to him and sat to the right side of him.
“Severus where did you learn that curse? That curse is so ancient that hardly anyone knows about it!” Tom looked at him with a delight that Severus had never seen in Tom’s eyes.
“My father taught me everything I know about curses,” Severus almost mumbled in reply and Lucius leaned forward on the tabletop to be able to hear him better. Tom said, “Ah… well… I’m a self-taught man! My father didn’t stick around to teach me anything,” Tom admitted. Severus looked away from the food in front of him and looked directly at Tom, “Well… it’s good that you were able to learn them. They come in handy at times.”
“I can see that you’re excellent with them!” Tom turned to Lucius and pointed a finger at him; “You could learn a thing or two from Severus here!”
Lucius looked away. He could feel himself becoming red hot with anger at Tom’s words.
“Now… Now Lucius! No need to get angry!” Tom said coyly. Lucius sat with his fork and knife in his hands, his arms resting on the table top, he twirled his fork in his right hand. He looked down at his cheese sandwich and slices of ham as he tried to suppress his anger. Tom slowly took his eyes off him to look down the isle towards the teachers that sat at the staff table.
Severus’s thoughts drifted off to the torture he had endured at the hands of his father every time he hadn’t performed any of the curses his father was teaching him satisfactorily. He remembered how his mother would burst into the room and scream, “You’re teaching him those darn curses again aren’t you!”
“Who gave you permission to speak? Woman!”
“darn You! He’s too young to learn those curses! Leave the boy alone!” His mother screamed while pointing a finger towards a young Severus.
He remembered how he would crawl into the corner of the room and witness his parent’s fight over his being or not being capable. He remembered how he cried at the sight of their fighting.
A hand from a second-year Slytherin girl patted him on the shoulder and Severus came back to the present as he heard her say, “Brilliant curse you chose Severus! Maybe you could teach me it sometime?”
“Er… yea… sure!” He replied as he watched her walk down the table and seat herself next to her friends.
Severus started to fill his plate full of the foods that he wanted from the dishes in front of him. Severus ate quickly and the only bit he heard from Tom’s conversation with Lucius was, “I’ve got prefect duties tonight and MacNair’s got them tomorrow night.” As he took a bite of his roll, he watched as Tom, Lucius, Crabbe and Goyle gathered up their book bags and slowly stood up. They began to walk out of the Great Hall and Severus quickly gathered up his things followed after them. Tom continued to walk through the large double doors and hadn’t noticed that Lucius stopped dead in his tracks at the Great Halls entrance. The Head of the Department of Magical Investigations had finally arrived at Hogwarts with his co-worker who followed close behind. Lucius stared up at a tall dark figure that was dressed in dark blue business attire with a matching traveling cloak. He held a silver cobra staff that was the same height as he in his right hand. The cobra had blue sapphires for eyes. Lucius shivered with fear at the sight of it. He looked at the handsomely dressed man and simply said, “Father!” in a surprised tone of voice.
“Good to see you son!”
“This is your son Genosa?”
“Yes Sinius! This is my son Lucius Malfoy!” Genosa said softly. He turned to his son and said, “Lucius this is my college Sinius Snape. He’s the finest detective I’ve had the pleasure of working with. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement is quite happy with his capability to crack murder cases as well!”
“Umpff!” Severus wasn’t watching where he was going and bumped into Lucius. Lucius fell forward a few paces and turned to Severus, “Watch where you’re going!” He snapped angrily.
“Sorry!” Severus looked over Lucius’s shoulder to see a man with long black hair, dressed in black business attire with a long black traveling cloak. Severus shuddered with fear at the sight of his father and remained speechless. He quickly turned away from him and looked down the hall where Tom stood looking at all of them.
Tom looked towards Sinius with a pale blank stare of what appeared to be pure hatred. He turned down the hall and walked away.
“So… so… you’re here to investigate the murder of Professor Ludan’s house-elf?” Lucius asked his father.
“Yes Lucius… I am! Have you heard anything about it?”
“No sir!” Lucius paused and looked up at Sinius, “I haven’t heard anything about it… sir!” Sinius gave a disbelieving look to Genosa, “May I talk with your son in private?”
Genosa looked at Sinius. His face seemed to lose its color before he finally spoke, “Yes you may!”

Severus put a hand on Lucius’s shoulder. He wanted to say something but became fearful that his father would hear him.
“Let go of him Severus! I don’t believe that you know anything about this!” Sinius snapped at him. Severus took his hand of Lucius’s shoulder and watched with dread as his father led him a short distance down the hall from them. As Severus watched them walk down the hall, he didn’t notice that Genosa was walking towards him.
“He can be terribly rough on people at times but you’re father’s exceptionally gifted at Occlumency!” Genosa said casually as he kept his eye on Sinius and his son. Severus looked at Genosa and noticed that he had his hand in his pocket and appeared to gripping his wand tightly.
“Yes sir!” Severus said at what sounded like a whisper. He looked down the hall again to see that his father had knelt down in front of Lucius to get better eye contact with him. Sinius was listening to Lucius with an eagerness to hear everything Lucius had to say.
Severus heard the words that he had heard from his father time and time again, “Tsk… Tsk… boy! You can’t lie to me! Now… start over and this time tell me the truth!”
Lucius shot a frustrated look at Severus and then looked at Sinius again, “Sir… I honestly don’t know how that house-elf died!”
“Silence! I can tell when you are lying to me… boy!” Sinius sneered at Lucius, his frustration growing with each of Lucius’s lies.
“Please sir! I… I… don’t!”
Sinius stood up and left Lucius standing there. Lucius dropped his head and looked down at his feet. Sinius walked over to Genosa, “Your son… is hiding something! I can feel it but he’s not saying what he saw. Maybe… you’ll be more successful at getting him to tell the truth?”
“Perhaps… Let me see what I can do,” Genosa walked down the hall where Lucius stood leaving Sinius to stand next to his son. Sinius looked down at Severus, “Are you… learning anything?”
Severus avoided eye contact with his father as he answered him, “Yes Sir!”
“Are you… er… making friends?” His father continued to try to make polite conversation with him. Severus looked towards Lucius. He was gesturing with his hands and appeared to be very upset as he spoke to his father.
“Yes Sir!” Severus answered. He watched Genosa Malfoy walked back towards them. He stopped in front of Sinius and said, “Sinius… he says that he killed the house-elf. If that’s the true story then my son could be expelled. I can’t allow that to happen… we’re going to have to patch this up as an accidental death.”
“Yes Sir!” Sinius looked down the hall where Lucius still stood. He couldn’t quite believe Lucius’s latest story either but kept silent nonetheless.
“Alright, my son said he used a Avada Kedavra curse on the house-elf. Is there anyway that we can cover that up?”
“Well… that will prove to be difficult Sir! Professor Dumbledore is hard to convince after he finds out the truth about any situation,” Sinius admitted.
“I know… I know Sinius!” Genosa interrupted. He began to message his forehead with his fingertips as he went into deep thought over what action to take next. He began to slowly pace up and down the hall. He finally stopped and said, “I just don’t have enough information to make a good decision. Lucius said that he told my house-elf Dobby to bury the body in the forbidden forest so… we should talk to the Grounds Keeper and see what she says.”
“We should talk with Professor Dumbledore as well, Sir!” Sinius suggested.
“Yes… Right! We should!” Genosa smiled. He looked at Severus and then his son and said, “If you boys have class… I suggest that you move along before the bell rings!”
A curtain of Sinius’s long black hair fell over his shoulder and down the front of his traveling cloak as he looked down at his son with an almost blank expression. Severus quickly looked away from him. He walked down the hall towards Lucius and they both continued down the hall together towards the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. They didn’t say anything to each other as the walked down the hall but Severus diffenetly longed to know why their fathers showed up at Hogwarts and why Lucius admitted to killing a house-elf. Lucius strode right into the classroom and sat down at his desk. Severus however began to feel an uneasiness as he approached the classroom door which was unusual for him because he loved this class most of all. He peered into the classroom and saw that it was dimly lit as usual. Professor Angeria sat at her desk reading an article in the Daily Prophet through her spectacles.
A finger tapped him on the shoulder and he looked back to see who tapped him, “Narcissa… Veronica! He sneered as he spoke the last name.
“OH… Snapy Poohs! Your voice is always so sultry! Would you say my name again?” Veronica grinned and Narcissa didn’t dare smile because she had always seen Lucius with Severus around Hogwarts. She merely gave no indication that she liked or disliked Veronica’s teasing.
“Bugger off Veronica!” Severus’s lip curled as he looked at her like he wanted to blast a curse at her. He turned and walked into the classroom. Veronica continued to giggle as walked to a table in the back of the classroom and sat down in the farthest chair at the end of the table.
Narcissa and Veronica walked past Severus’s desk and down the isle towards the desk that Lucius sat at. Narcissa sat next to him and Veronica continued down the isle to the front of the class. She sat down next to Nott who appeared to be uneasy with her being next to him. He gave up no word of protest however. He watched her wearily as she placed her book bag on top of the desk and pulled out her Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook and flipped it open to Chapter four.

Narcissa and Veronica were the meanest Second-year Slytherins in all of Hogwarts and they rather loved proving it to anyone who challenged them. They were a constant headache to Professor Ludan.
Nott however preferred to look on her with a sort of sheepish admiration.
“Good Afternoon class!” Professor Angeria said as she stood up from her desk. She was dressed in a long flowing mint green gown and matching cloak that hung down to her heel. It had a hood in the back and draped over her front elegantly. Her brown hair was medium length and it hung down to her shoulder blades. She wore a white hat with a shamrock on the side that stuck out of the ribbon that wrapped around the base of her hat and tied in a neat little bow at the front of her hat. She looked nothing like one would think a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher should look like. She looked calm in demeanor and pleasantly smiled at the students now and then.
“Good Afternoon Professor Angeria!” All the students replied at once.
“At eleven o’clock today, everyone who wanted to attend the Dueling Club was entertained to an event that I never thought I would see take place. Did everyone here attend? Raise your hands if you did!” Professor Angeria looked across the classroom to see all the hands. Almost everyone raised their hands.

Sinius is derived from the word sinister When I read...er... I guess this would be a memory qoute: -a hook-nose man was shouting at a cowering woman page 592/top the page u.s.a. addition of The Order Of The Phoenix. I got the idea that Snape's father was the definition of Sinister - Suggesting or threatening evil

Sultry - Expressing or arousing desire

“Good! Good… Oh! Severus… we all know that you were there. You should have raised your hand too.” Angeria grinned.
Severus could see where she was going. Professor Angeria stood next to a table that had a nice plump toad in a square cage in the middle of the table. Severus looked away from the toad to Professor Angeria as she spoke to him, “Severus… that was an amazing curse that you used at the Dueling Club. As a matter of fact… I’ve never seen it performed until you used it this morning. I wonder… what would have happened if Professor Ludan wasn’t there to save Sirius Black’s life? Come up here and perform that curse on this toad Severus!”
Severus looked blankly at Professor Angeria as he stood up from his desk. He slowly walked down the isle towards her and glanced at the toad once again. It reminded him of the many times his father forced him to practice curses on his black cat, Tibbles when he was a small boy and how he begged his father, “Please Dad… not Tibbles! I don’t want to hurt Tibbles!”
Severus walked up to the table and looked down at the toad through the bars of the toads cage.
Professor Angeria sounded impatient as she told him, “Severus… draw your wand from your pocket, aim at the toad, and curse it the same curse that you used on Sirius Black… please!”
Severus looked up at her and made eye contact. He could tell that her request was out of mere curiosity but he didn’t like being told to curse an innocent toad but he did as he was told. He pulled out his wand, pointed it at the toad and said, "Inflamus!"
The toad let out a loud, "RIBBET!" and began to tremble in its cage. It staggered to the side of the cage and rolled on its side. The toad soon began to ooze what appeared to be beads of sweat. Five minutes later, it retched up a mix of frog’s blood and half digested flies. A few minutes passed and everyone gasped with horror as the toad began to violently tremble, burp a flame from its mouth, and burst into flames. All of which took approximately twenty-five minutes time.
“Well… that explains why Professor Ludan wouldn’t allow Sirius Black to be removed from the dueling table to be taken to the hospital wing. The poor boy would have burst into flames on the way there.” Professor Angeria said a matter of factly. She crossed her arms and looked directly at Severus. Severus felt he was in for another scolding but heard, “Good show Severus! Please return to your seat now!”
Severus took one last look at the pile of toad ashes before he walked down the isle to returning to his seat. Professor didn’t address the class again until she saw that Severus had sat down.
“Now class… that was an excellent display of a curse that should never be used on any student here at Hogwarts because if your target should die as this toad here died… you would most certainly be expelled, arrested for murder and taken to the Ministry of Magic where you would await your trial and… I’m sad to say this but you are never to young for Azkaban when it comes to crimes of Murder. Do-I-Make-Myself- Perfectly –Clear?"
The entire class gasped with horror at the thought of being sent to Azkaban. Everyone replied in frightened voices, “Yes Professor Angeria!”
Severus stuffed his hands between his legs. The fear of being sent to Azkaban made his hands tremble. He hadn’t thought that far ahead when he raised his wand to Sirius and blasted him with the Inflamus curse. He only thought of how much he hated Sirius for mistreating him. He didn’t even know that he could have been sent to Azkaban had Ludan not been there to heal him and save his life.
“Good! Open your textbooks and read Chapter three. This week you are to study all about Jinxes and for homework, I want you to answer all the questions at the end of the chapter… now… begin reading.
Severus looked around the classroom and realized that a few of the students were looking at him with shocked faces and a few looked like blank slates. He pulled out his textbook and propped it up so he could hide behind it. He had already read Chapter three the week before. He pulled his quill, inkbottle, and parchment from his book bag. He the pages in his textbook to the questions page at the back of the chapter and began answering the questions. Severus was three questions shy of finishing when the bell rang. Severus put his DADA textbook into his bag along with the rest of his things and darted out the classroom door. He didn’t want to be disturbed by anyone’s questions about the Inflamus curse. He walked briskly down the hall that led to another hall to the dungeons
It was two o’clock pm and all the students in the hall were headed the opposite direction towards the lake so they could enjoy a good hour of free study time. Severus preferred to spend his free time in the solitude of his dorm room. Nott seemed to have the same idea. He ran after Severus and beckoned him, “Severus… Severus… Hey Snape! Wait up!”
Severus stopped mid-stride, glanced out the windows along the hall, and looked back at Nott. He remained speechless as he looked down the hall at Nott with annoyance.
“Are you going to the dungeons too?”
“Yes! Yes I am… why?” Severus’s voice portrayed his annoyance.
“Well… I thought… per…” Nott was interrupted by a lone voice that came from behind him.
“Snivellus! I thought I would find you in this hall! Impedimenta!”
Severus flew off his feet and hit the floor with a thud. He landed on his side and his shoulder began to throb with pain. He sat up on his elbow expecting to see Sirius but saw James Potter walking briskly towards him with his wand pointed directly at him.
“Thought it was terribly funny to burn up my best friends insides… did you?”
Severus didn’t answer him as he struggled to his feet. He reached for his wand and James shouted at him, “I WOULDN”T SNIVELY! I’M WARNING YOU!”
Severus whipped out his wand only to hear James yell, “Accio Wand!” Nott and Severus watched Severus’s wand fly in a high arch and land in James’s left hand.
“That’s mean James!” Nott crossed his arms over his chest and glared at James angrily.
“This is none of your business Nott! Get out of here!” James growled at him.
Nott scurried off towards his dorm room and didn’t look back at them. Severus watched him as he left then turned his attention back to James, “Give me back my wand… Potty!
“Get on your knees and beg me for it!” James grinned maliciously. Severus cussed at him and then looked past him at Remus as he walked up behind James with his wand pointed directly at him. Remus gave an uneasy look from Severus to James. James’s expression looked as though he wanted to cause the same kind of suffering to Severus that Sirius had endured at the Dueling Club.
“James?” Remus tugged his sleeve.
“Stay out of this Remus! He’s going to pay!” James looked directly at Severus. Severus felt a wave of stinging fear within him as a bright light flew over him and turned him upside down. His cloak fell to the floor and the hem of it barely touched the stone below. His black pants fell to his knees revealing his dark blue socks. Severus’s cheeks flush red after a few minutes and he began to see specks of white stars in his eyes.
“LET ME DOWN!” Severus screamed angrily as he looked down at the stone floor.
“Beg me Snivelly… beg me to let you down and I will!” James said sternly.
“NEVER…POTTER!” Severus snapped back.
“I’m not going to let you down until you beg me, Snivelly!”
Severus started to message his head with his right hand. It felt as though his head was going to burst. He was feeling a throbbing pain in his forehead.
Professor Ludan rounded the corner with Nott close behind him. It appeared that Nott didn’t go to his dorm but instead went directly to Professor Ludan and told him what James was doing to Severus.
“WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?” Ludan yelled at them all as he walked towards them. Remus quickly pocketed his wand as he looked at Ludan’s angry face.

He shrieked with fright and threw her off him. She landed on her feet, turned to look up at him, and hissed.
Mr. Filche swung the old door wide and leaned forward on the doorknob. Nott looked up at him with wide eyes and Mr. Filche’s eyes became angry slits as he peered down at him. He growled, “You…” He looked up the hall at Severus who appeared to be standing impatiently for Nott, “better not be walk’en about after hoursor I’ll get permission any way I can ta’have my way wit you!” He gave them a smile that suggested that he was already thinking of evil ways to punish them.
“Y-yes Sir!” Nott sputtered out and ran down the hall towards Severus.
Severus and Nott once again set off for the Slytherin dormitory. They finally reached Felonius who was having a conversation with a young woman in a pearly white Victorian dress. He was gently stroking her hair and looking longingly into her sparkling blue eyes as he listened to her every word.
Nott unsuccessfully stifled a chuckle as he and Severus walked up to the portrait. The young woman blushed and swiftly left to return to her own portrait. Next to Felonius’s portrait, a bulletin board hung with notes that student’s posted to their friends, Mr. Filche’s endless rules and regulations, and a large Quidditch poster. The poster caught Nott’s attention and Severus reluctantly looked at it. On the poster, the code of arms for the Slytherin house and the Hufflepuff house were in opposite corners of the poster. There was a notification letter from Professor Dumbledore in the center of the poster.

HEADMASTER OF HOGWARTS

Albus Dumbledore

~

Do you want to watch the Quidditch match?” Nott asked with a twinkle of delight in his eyes.
“No…” Severus frowned as he looked up at Felonius. Felonius had been watching them silently.
“Snaca!” Severus stepped back to allow Felonius to swing open to admit them inside. Severus and Nott entered the dormitory. Once again Severus looked to see if the leather armchairs were vacant only to see that they were once again occupied but this time was different. The chairs were rearranged from their normal positions. The big black sat directly in front of the fire while the brown one that Veronica loved to sit in, sat off to the side and faced towards the black armchair.
As Severus walked past the black chair, he stopped his stride at the sound of a very angry voice that sounded somewhat familiar. He stared at the back of the black chair, his lips slightly parted, his eyes wide with fear, and his ears perked and tingling at the sound of another voice that came from the brown chair. This voice sounded familiar too. It whimpered and repeated, “Yes My Lord!” at the end of hateful and angry commands and scoldings from the black chair that Narcissa always loved to sit in.
Severus felt a tug on his cloak and he came out of his trance. Nott was cowering behind him. “G’off me Nott!” Severus Screamed and Nott backed away from him, “My Lord is angry with Lucius!” Nott whispered and pointed towards the black chair.
“Nott! A word… Now!”
Nott toke a step away from the black armchair. He looked as though he would wet himself any minute.
“NOW NOTT! Do Not keep Lord Voldemort waiting!” Tom sneered. Nott slowly shuffled forward and stood next to the arm of Tom’s armchair.
“Hold out your hand Nott!” Tom demanded.
Severus watched all this with a feeling of foreboding.
“P-p-please Milord!” Nott begged.
“Silence! You will learn to be more obedient Nott! Do as I tell you!” Tom snapped angrily.
~
Nott gets a little spanking from the Dark Lord! :D
~
He messaged it after Tom released him.
“Nott the detectives from the the Department of Magical Investigations have arrived. You are to say nothing to them concerning the house elf that I murdered. Do I make myself clear?” Tom said sternly.
“Yes Milord!” Nott whimpered.
Good! Be gone with you! Tom snapped.
“Yes Milord!” Nott ran past Severus and went to his dorm room. Severus felt that he had just witnessed something he shouldn’t have. He had never before seen Tom act so cruel to any of his friends. He had never before witnessed them call Tom, “My Lord” but at least now he knew whom Lucius was dreaming about. Severus felt as though his presence behind the large black armchair had gone unnoticed and he quietly slipped off to his own dorm room. Severus slowly opened his dorm room door to see Crabbe and Goyle. They sat on their beds with two other boys that Severus seen sitting at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall but had never learned their names. Crabbe and Goyle looked pale and the other boys looked worried. They stopped talking amongst each other after Severus entered the room.
"Did you see what's going on?" Crabbe asked with urgency to find out.

Severus Snape
07-09-2003, 03:40 PM
"Did you hear what... what Tom said?" The boy with dark brown hair asked.
Severus looked at them both and walked towards his bed. He put his book bag at the end of his bed. He looked at Crabbe and the boy and said, "Nott ran to his dorm room!"
At hearing that, the two boys jumped off Crabbe and Goyle's bed and quickly left. Crabbe and Goyle watched them leave and then looked at Severus.
Severus didn’t want to answer any questions. He wanted to be left alone to think about what he had witnessed but their questions engagingly persisted until he shot them an angry look that needed no explanation. They quickly shut up and left him alone. Severus looked out the window at the night’s sky. The moon had not yet become a big ball in the sky. Student’s scurried inside to get to their dormitories before crew few. Severus dressed himself into his pajamas. Crabbe and Goyle held a deep conversation that Severus didn’t pay a bit of attention too. He sat on his bed thinking about his father and his father’s investigation. He thought about Tom’s obvious confession. He remembered Tom saying, “say nothing to them concerning the house elf that I murdered.” He lay down on his pillow and continued to look out the window. Little beads of raindrops began to hit the windowpane. His mind began to drift off to sleep.
The rain began to beat harder and harder against the glass of their window. Crabbe and Goyle changed into their pajamas and were crawling in their beds when Lucius finally opened the door and stepped inside. His face appeared to be burning with fury and yet his shoulders slumped forward and appeared to be weary. He sat his book bag on his desk, walked over to his trunk, pulled his silky black pajamas from it and dressed himself. He pulled back the covers on his four-poster bed and crawled in, pulling the covers over his shoulder as he did so. He rolled on his side in order to watch the rain as it streamed down the windowpane. Crabbe and Goyle watched him but didn’t dare ask him the questions that they had asked Severus earlier.
Lucius had a more difficult time of falling to sleep then any of them. He tossed and turned as he thought about being expelled or worse, Tom being expelled. Tom had talked about letting the Basilisk lose and graduating in a Slytherin blaze of glory. Lucius was also eager to see what would happen when he let the Basilisk lose… or rather see the after affect of it. He also knew that it was important that Tom stay at Hogwarts in order to accomplish his goals, so he lied to his father, knowing that he might be expelled and have to read about next years events in the Daily Prophet. He cringed at the thought of being expelled and becoming a disgrace to the name, Malfoy. He cringed even worse at the thought of coming home to his Mother and having to look into her eyes. Her words echoing in his head, “You’ve dishonored our entire family Lucius!” as he finally fell asleep.

Wednesday

"Sir!... Sir!... Sir!... Please wake Sir!" A squeaky voice became louder as Severus woke from his dream.
"Yes Lucius! I know! Time to wake up!" Severus groaned as he rolled on his side to escape the sunlight that beamed on him from behind a rain cloud.
"No Sir! Master's already left sir! He left me to wake you sir!" Dobby jumped on Severus's bed and held onto the end post. Severus sat up and asked, "Did he go to class?" with a confused look.
"No sir! Master Genosa wanted a word with him sir!"
Severus pulled back his covers, got out of bed, and dressed himself in the neatly folded school clothes that sat in the chair next to his bed. He noticed that Crabbe and Goyle were gone from their beds as well. Severus knew that they were in the Great Hall eating breakfast. Severus always skipped breakfast and went straight to class but since Dobby got him up early enough to eat... Severus headed out of the dorm room and went to find them in the Great Hall.
Severus entered the Great Hall at the very moment that owls were swooping in from the ceiling and delivering packages to the students. Two chubby looking owls swooped down and dropped off letters to Crabbe and Goyle. A smaller owl dropped a rolled up scroll in front of Nott. It said, “y Prop” visibly from where Severus stood. Severus began to walk towards them but tripped on his own shoelaces. He fell forward and his books hit the floor with a thundering crash. Nott and two boys that sat beside him, jumped up from their seats to help Severus. They slowly helped him to a sitting position so he could examine his shoelaces.
Meanwhile, James, Sirius, and Peter were standing in front him and laughing down at him. Nott looked up at James and glared at him angrily. Crabbe and Goyle joined Nott and his friends, standing behind all four of them.
“What’s going on here?” Goyle bellowed.
“I thought it would be funny to trip this greasy git!” Sirius pointed down at Severus. Severus was untying his shoelaces. Gritting his teeth tightly as he undid the last knot. He stood up and swiftly went for his wand.
“No Severus!” Crabbe grabbed his arm, “The teacher’s will see!”
“Yeah Snivelly! Mr. Filche would love to spank your bum with a wooden paddle if you curse me again!” Sirius grinned.
“Isn’t permitted!” Severus sneered through gritted teeth. His black greasy hair hung in his eyes as he glared at them angrily. Crabbe’s hand still kept a firm grip on his sleeve but his fist clinched tighter with his anger towards James and Sirius.
“Try something Snivelly! Impress Professor Dumbledore for us!” James goaded him. Severus hadn’t looked to see if there were any teachers in the Great Hall. He didn’t know if James was telling the truth or not. He adjusted his uniform and slowly turned away from them.
“Heh! Another time Snivelly and next time… there will be no teachers present!” Sirius sneered. James and his mates left the Great Hall. Crabbe, Goyle, Nott and the two boys watched them leave and then returned to their spots at the Slytherin table. Severus followed them and sat next to Nott.
“Have you met my friends Severus?” Nott asked with a lingering look of annoyance on his face.
“Briefly!” Severus replied before he bit into an apple.
“This is my friend Rosier and this is” Nott pointed to the other boy, “Wilkes.”
“Hi!” Wilkes said with a wave.
“Hello!” said Rosier before he took a bite into a buttered roll.
“Nice to meet you!” Severus said and took another bite from his apple.

“Do you have Divinations class today too?” Nott asked absent-mindedly.
“You know I have the same class schedule as you Nott. Haven’t you noticed that?” Severus asked.
“Well… I know I’ve seen Narcissa in a lot of our classes… when the first year Slytherins join with the second year Slytherins.”
“I don’t like Divinations class so I sit in the back of the class. I think that predicting your own future is utter nonsense!” said Severus while twirling a new batch of eggs around his plate with his fork.
“I think we should get them Gryffindors back! They can’t go around pulling pranks on us like that!” said Rosier with a glint of mischief in his eyes.
“Yea, Payback time!” said Wilkes with an enthusiasm that got them all listening.

It's coming along great! I like the look into Slytherin life. One question though: I thought Tom Riddle was a lot older than the others?

(Just a reminder too. Our forums are PG, so if the story eventually has +PG content it will have to be edited out.:))

There are some parts of Mrs. Rowling's book that I would exactly call PG, aka: Snapes Memories. I'll Delete it all later! I'm busy atm!

You're a Moderator ... aren't you? Just erase this thread for me and I won't have to go through all the trouble of deleting each post one by one... It would take a good bit of 45 + minutes to do all that. You really can't edit any single section of this story and I'll show you why!

Look to the next post!

“I want revenge for all the pranks they pulled on me!” Severus said bitterly, his lip quivering with anger.
“They’ve done this to you more then once?” Wilkes looked shocked.
“Yes! Ever since… since…” Severus looked down at his half eaten eggs.
“Yes?” Wilkes asked.
“Since they stole that book from Professor Ludan.”
The Book? Rosier looked shocked but his expression changed as he turned away in deep thought. Severus watched him and he answered his own question, “No… no! Tom still has the book. You must be talking about another book.”
“It was called Magical Map Making,” Severus answered.
“Yes… well… they’ll pay for thinking they could mess with a Slytherin! Oh… Yes! They’ll pay alright!” Rosier looked positively evil as he spoke to them.
“Heh! We’ll trick, hex, jinx, and even bewitch their schoolbooks. If you want us to Severus.” Wilkes smile looked almost as wicked as Rosier’s.
“The more people dogging them the better!” Severus grinned.
“Good! Then it’s settled!” Rosier looked at Crabbe and Goyle, “Are you two going to join us?”
“Yea, I’ll blast those twits every chance I get!” Goyle smiled.
“Me too!” Crabbe added.
“Excellent!” Rosier grinned with delight but Severus looked the happiest of them all.
They all stood up, collected their book bags and left the Great hall. They walked down the hall towards Divinations class. Rosier and Wilkes waved bye to them as they went down another hall towards Astronomy class.
As they approached the classroom door, Severus saw his father, Genosa Malfoy and Lucius Malfoy talking in the hall. Lucius no longer looked as grim as he had for the past few days. Genosa had his hand on Lucius shoulder and was saying something that Severus couldn’t hear but it must have been something good because Lucius was smiling back at his father. As Severus drew nearer, he heard Genosa say, “Go to class now… son!” Crabbe and Goyle followed Lucius inside. Crabbe and Goyle followed the back row of desks to the right of the class and took the farthest desk. Lucius looked around to see if Narcissa was sitting alone or with Veronica. Severus went to walk inside but his father caught him by the shoulder, “Son we need to talk!”
“Father…” Severus looked up at his father and heard him speak again, “I’ve already told your teacher that you’ll be absent. Come with me!” Sinius looked deep into Severus’s black eyes. Shivers of fear went up Severus’s spine and the hairs seemed to stand on end at the nape of his neck. He quickly looked towards Genosa. Genosa was standing patiently next to them. He shook it off his fearful feelings as he followed his father and Genosa back down the hall. He wondered as he walked, what they had in store for him. “What dreadful thing will my father have me do now? What will he ask me? What will he tell me to do?” Severus asked himself as he watched his father’s traveling cloak sweep across the corridor floor. His father often looked like he was floating on thin air because of the way he strode across a darkened room with his long black hair, his pitch-black business attire and his long swooping cloak. His piercing stare has caused many a wizard and witch to confess their crimes willingly or else go pale with fright. Sinius drove some stubborn individuals insane with mutterings and they had to be sent to St. Mungos Infirmary for mentally ill individuals. Severus knew all to well that his father possessed something darker inside him. He was not only good at Occlumency but had something within that was far greater. Severus never quite understood it. He didn’t posses this gift for some odd reason but when Severus looked into his eyes… he always saw a burning fire of strong hatred that also smoldered with stinging anguish and it always frightened him.
“Here we are! Step inside lad!” Severus woke from his trance and took his eyes of his father’s cloak to see them standing in front of an old unused classroom. Genosa opened the door to reveal a classroom that hadn’t been dusted in years. It was the same classroom that Nott found Mr. Filch leaving the night before. Severus walked inside, he didn’t quite know where they wanted him and he didn’t want to sit down at one of the dusty student desks, so he walked over to the teacher’s desk. He stood in front of it and waited to find out his fate.
Sinius walked up to him, “Tell me everything you know about what happened to the house-elf called Dinky.”
Severus thought for a moment. He feared to lie to his own father. He above all others knew what happened to those who did. He looked down at the dusty desk in front of him. He took his finger and wrote the word, “Dinky” in the dust and then, “Ludan” next to it.
“Yes son! That’s correct! Tell me more!” Sinius urged.
Severus looked up at the ceiling. He closed his eyes with anguished as he thought. Then… suddenly as though a memory had flashed before him in one swoop he began to remember things that he had heard others say or told him directly. He remembered Tom say, “It appears to be a way to communicate between the wizarding world and another world. A woman by the name of Eloria keeps answering me back when I write her questions. Her gossip is quite boring but she’s very informative. She’s the one who told me where the location of the Chamber is and how to make this diary. She seems to know just about everything! Who would have thought? I’ve been looking for the Chamber for four years know and I stumble upon this old book by accident. Suddenly, all my questions are answered thanks to Eloria!” He looked out the dusty window and remembered Ludan saying, “Severus… Dinky isn’t coming to me when I call him! It seems like I’ve called him a million times since 8:00 pm last night and still he doesn’t come. It’s not like him to be this disobedient. I’m at my wits end wondering what happened to him… if anything happened to him. It’s so frustrating! I can’t contact my wife, Eloria to tell her what’s going on because someone stole my old book. I love my wife but she’s… she’s… so kind and generous to everyone she meets. I’m afraid that if my book gets into the wrong hands… She’ll blab every sort of thing to whoever has my book. Not only that… but the book contains the entire history of Hogwarts within its pages.
“Severus… did you hear me son?” Sinius sounded as if he was losing his patients.
“Yes Sir!” Severus looked away from the window, his back to his father; he looked down the classroom towards the back door.
“Well… what have you to say?”
Severus sighed! He continued to remember and more voices came to his head. Genosa Malfoy’s voice came to him clear, “Sinius… he says that he killed the house-elf! and then Tom’s voice, “You are to say nothing to them concerning the house-elf that I murdered!” Severus looked at Genosa, “Tom Riddle did it Sir! Tom killed the house-elf!”
Sinius and Genosa looked at each other with surprised looks on their faces. This wasn’t the answer they had expected to hear. They believed that Lucius Malfoy killed the house-elf and Lucius had given a believable story. They both looked down at Severus again. Severus turned away from them. He couldn’t believe that he hadn’t seen this all before now. He had been so busy hating James and his friends that he was blinded. He hadn't really paid full attention to what was going on with Tom and his friends.
“Is this true Severus?” Genosa asked, “Tom Riddle was the one who really killed the house-elf?”
“Yes Sir!” Severus said weakly and quickly added, “But please sir! Don’t tell anyone I said this!”
Sinius looked from his son to Genosa and said, “I think we should proceed as planned Sir!”
“You think?” Genosa looked at Sinius with a puzzled expression.
“Yes sir… I do!”
“Alright then! We will!” Genosa looked down at Severus and then he looked at Sinius. He rubbed his chin and leaned against the old dusty teachers desk. He took a deep breath and said, “An unsolved murder!”
Severus felt a bit relieved to hear those words.
“That means that nothing leaves this room Severus. You didn’t even talk to us! Do you understand?”
“Yes Sir!” Severus nodded “Yes” as well.
“Now get back to class or wherever you have to be at this hour!” Genosa said sternly and Sinius nodded his agreement.
“Divinations class!” Severus said as he walked towards the door to leave.

BTW (in answer to your question)... I've added this to page 1 yesterday:

Short Summery: This story begins in the year 1970 and takes the reader through Severus Snape's first year at Hogwarts. Characters who didn't attend Hogwarts during this year have been added to liven up the story a bit. The chapter picks up a week after Severus was sorted into the house of Slytherin.

Severus made his way down the hall. As he rounded a corner to turn down another hall, he saw a strange glow at the end of the hall. He stopped his stride to get a better look at the glow but couldn’t make out what it was. He kept his eye on it as he began to walk towards it. The glow grew fainter and fainter as he drew nearer. It began to take on the shape of a girl who stood perfectly still but looked to the hall left of her and right of her with a nervous expression. Then she looked down the hall in front of her and stared at Severus with the same pale blank nervous expression. Severus stopped and looked back into her crystal blue eyes. Her hair was so platinum that it was nearly white. As she drew nearer to him, he instantly recognized her. She was the dancing girl from the moving picture on Professor Ludan’s desk.
“Hello! My name is Amora! Have you seen a man named Evrand Ludan?”
“Lo! Mine’s Severus! He’s teaching in Potions class down in the dungeons!”
“Thanks Severus!”
“Welcome!” Severus responded as he opened the door to enter. Severus looked around the classroom. Nott saw him enter and waved at him to sit next to him. Severus walked down the back isle to his table and sat his book bag on the floor next to the empty chair. The class had a strange blue glow and the ceiling sparkled with magical white lights that fell like dainty little snowflakes. They disappeared before touching each student. Severus could hear Crabbe and Goyle complaining about them at the desk next to Severus. They sat with their hands covering their heads as they lay on their desk.
“Gah… I can’t wait to get out of here!” said Crabbe as he peaked out from under his hands and looked up at the nearest sparkle with annoyance.
“Me too! I hate this class and that Professor’s an idiot!” Goyle didn’t make a move to look at another sparkle.
Severus looked towards Professor Quincy Lockhart. He sat at his desk looking down into his pink quartz bowl with a white toothy smile on his face. He wore blue robes that matched the color of his classroom. It was true that Professor Lockhart hadn’t really taught them anything about Divinations their first day in his class. He hadn’t even encouraged them to open their textbooks. He had only placed these quartz bowls in front of them and told them, “Look down into your Time Tellers and write in your journals what you see. If you don’t see anything then I want you to use your journals to record your dreams for later translating.” Then he would spend the rest of the class looking into his own pink quartz Time Teller in silence.
“Look at this Severus!” Nott pointed down at a white quartz bowl that sat in the middle of their desk. It had a silvery liquid in it that reminded Severus of his father’s pensive.
“What is it? What do you see?” Severus asked with a curious expression. Nott was leaning forward on the desk and looking down at the liquid.
“I can’t see anything! Not a single thing except my face of course… It’s frustrating!” Nott explained.
“Let me see!” Severus stood up from his chair and Nott moved aside so Severus could look down at the silvery liquid. Severus looked down and saw his mirror image. His eyes grew big as he began to see himself grow older. His hair grew longer and stopped at shoulder length. Severus took a deep breath.
“What is it? What do you see?” Nott was eager to know but Severus kept silent. The image in the bowl turned its head as if it were being summoned. The background became dark and the room his older self was in, appeared to be lit by firelight. His older self looked at the back of a high backed leather armchair. His older self side step and another image came forward to stand beside him. Severus looked up from the bowl, took another deep breath, and looked directly at Lucius Malfoy.
“Come on Severus! Tell me what you see!” Nott begged.
“Hush Nott!” Severus shot an annoyed look at him and quickly looked at Lucius again.
Lucius was sitting two rows up from him with his cheek in his left hand. He looked completely bored with his back turned to Narcissa. Every so often he would turn to her and say, “Is this class over yet? So bloomin boring!” Narcissa was leaning over the bowl using it as a mirror to pretty herself and pull her hair behind her ears.
“Severus?” Nott was still curius.
“I saw Lucius in it!” Severus finally answered.
“You’re not supposed to see other people’s future. You’re only supposed to see your own future.” Nott looked alarmed, “PROFESSOR!” Nott yelled.
“Shut up Nott!” Severus grabbed his arm as it shot up in the air but it was too late. Professor Lockhart awoke from his trance and stood up.
“Yes… yes! What is it?” He looked at Nott and saw Severus still had his grip on Nott’s sleeve, “Shame on you Severus! Let the boy go!” Professor Lockhart yelled to Severus. Severus jerkily let go of Nott’s sleeve.
“No! No! I want to ask a question Professor!” Nott yelled across the room to Professor Lockhart again. Professor Lockhart walked out from behind his desk and down the isle towards Nott.
“What is it you want?” Professor Lockhart asked.
“I was wondering if you could see other people in here too?” Nott pointed down at the silvery liquid.
“Well… you should know by now if you can or not. This is our second class… is it not?” Lockhart gave a puzzled look to Nott.
“Sir… I haven’t seen anything in it yet but Severus…” Nott looked at Severus who had his arms crossed across his chest and was giving Nott an angry look, “said that he saw Lucius in his.”
“Is that so?” Lockhart asked Severus.
“Yes sir!” Severus answered blankly.
“What else did you see?” Professor Lockhart looked delighted that one of his students could actually use their Time Tellers.
“A dark room with a lit fireplace and a big chair sir.” Severus said as he looked down at the bowl.
“Hmmm! Doesn’t sound very exciting! Look again!” Professor Lockhart stepped closer to Severus and Severus looked down at the liquid.
“Tell me what you see as you see it!” Lockhart squinted his eyes down at the silvery liquid.
“I see glass jars with strange looking creatures in them!” Severus narrowed his eyes at the silvery liquid, “I see Professor Ludan’s office! I see his desk… but it looks different.”
“Do you see anyone?” Professor Lockhart asked.
“No! Nobody is there… wait… the door is opening. It’s… Professor Dumbledore and he’s talking but I can’t hear him.”
“Yes… yes… can you read lips?”
“No sir!”
Professor Lockhart sighed. He was bending over the desk and proping himself up with his right arm. He looked back down at the Time Teller and bit the index finger of his fist that he held to his mouth. Severus gasped, “Me!”
Professor Lockhart put his hand down and whispered, “Tell me more! What do you see?”
“I’m sitting on Professor Ludan’s desk. I appear to be in pain! I’m unbuttoning my black coat… taking it off and throwing it into a brown leather armchair that’s positioned in front of Professor Ludan’s desk. Professor Dumbledore’s is unbuttoning the buttons on my white sleeve. He’s rolling up my sleeve. Something appears to be hurting me. I’m turning away from Professor Dumbledore. I don’t want to see this!”
“No Severus! You… you can’t!” Professor Lockhart watched Severus close his eyes and look away from the Time Teller, “Awwww Severus! It was getting so good!”
“That isn’t really my future is it?” Severus asked with a bewildered look on his face.
“They’re just images! Some come true and some don’t!” Professor Lockhart shrugged his shoulders and smiled.

Severus Snape
07-17-2003, 09:34 PM
Professor Lockhart stood up from their desk and adjusted his blue suit and tie. He fixed his cloak so it once again hung over his shoulders just as the bell rang.
“Ack! The bell!” He screamed with fright and jumped with a start. He swung round to look up the isle at all the student who were now standing up from their desks, “Time to go students!” He said cheerfully and smiled at them, “Please… everyone collect all your things so nothing gets left behind! Last week…” Lucius and Narcissa walked quickly past him and left the classroom, “Y-yes go please… be my guest! No NO! WAIT… I’m not done speaking! Only joking you see! Professor Lockhart ran his hand through his curly red hair as if to guester that he had a headache coming on and continued, “Anyway… last week someone left their toad at their desk and I gave it to Mr. Filche since he’s the keeper of all that is lost and not yet found! Thank you! You may go now!”
The students quickly filed past him and out the classroom door. Severus bent down and picked up his book bag. Nott retrieved his from atop the desk. They quickly joined the crowd of students and left the classroom. They made their way down the corridor towards the Great Hall.
“I feel so hungery that I feel like I haven’t even eaten this morning and I know I have. I ate some eggs,” Severus’s tummy began to rumble it’s displeasure. Nott smiled at him andsaid, “You must be the type that sleeps in because I rarely ever see you or Lucius in the Great Hall for breakfast. You should make it to breakfast because the post is delivered every morning and what if you miss something from your Mum?”
“My Mum never sends me anything,” Severus answered as he began to walk a bit faster. Nott was a bit shorter and skipped a pace to keep up.
“Nothing?” Nott asked as he took larger strides.
“Nope! Not a thing! My Mum works late into the night for a branch of the Minsitry that is a mystery to a large percent of the wizarding world and my father…” Nott interrupted him, “He works for the Ministry of Magical Investigations. I know!”
“Yeah! Well… I think he’ll be leaving Hogwarts soon!”
Nott stopped walking and Severus stopped also.
“Why? N-no! They can’t! They have to finish their investigation! I don’t think they talked to the Grounds Keeper yet a-n-d… Oh… this is dreadful! Lucius is going to be expelled! I’m sure of it!” Nott looked distressed and turned pale.
“Calm down Nott! My father and Lucius’s father decided to close the case as an unsolveable crime. Lucius is not going to be expelled.
“Really?” Notts eyes widened and he slowly smiled.
“Yes! No more worries mate!” Severus smiled back. They began to walk towards the Great Hall again.
“That’s the best news I’ve heard all day!” Nott followed Severus inside and they walked towards the Slytherin table. They spotted Tom, Lucius, Crabbe and Goyle and sat down next to Crabbe. Tom sat on the other side of the table next to Lucius. They were leaning forward on table and Lucius appeared to have already told Lucius the news about the house-elf case becoming unsolveable. Lucius listened to Tom with a smile on his face. He sat listening eagerly to Tom as he related an incident that occurred on one of the nights that he had prefect duties. Every now and then Lucius would laugh. Crabbe and Goyle watched them, half listening as they ate chilli cheese dogs and chips.
Nott looked down the table at Tom. Tom glanced down at him and continued, “Sev!” Severus looked from his own hot dog to Tom. “Your father asked me if I seen anything peculiar yesterday. I told him that the only thing peculiar that I seen on the morning that the house-elf died was Arthur Weasley. A second year Slytherin became cross with him and kindly made his nose ten times the size of his face!” Tom chuckled and everyone started laughing. Tom continued, “Professor Ivy had me escort him out of Herbology class after she found me just outside her classroom door. I took the little twit to the hospital wing and that’s when I discovered that the house-elf had been found.”
Rosier and Wilkes walked up behind Crabbe and Goyle.
“Sorry we’re late! Professor Sinistra held us back because I disrupted class. I heard someone laughing. What’s so funny?”
“Arthur Weasley! I had to escort him to the hospital wing after a second year Slytherin girl enlarged his nose to the size of a melon.”
“Hahaha! That’s funny!” Wilkes laughed and Rosier sat down next to Severus. Rosier smiled, “Most likely he deserved it! Who did it anyway?”
Tom pointed down the table towards Veronica, “She did it!”
Veronica was taking a hearty bite out of a tuna sandwhich and listening to Narcissa as she talked about the latest curse that she read about in The Quibbler.
“As far as I’m concerned… Arthur deserved it!” Tom paused and took a bite into a sandwich full of three types of cheese, ham, lettuce and a slice of tomatoe. Everyone focused their attention on Tom. Even Crabbe and Goyle sat perfectly still, their eyes focused livedly on Tom. Tom swallowed and said, “If he had been more quick to draw his wand, he wouldn’t have received that big nose to go with that big fat head of his!” Tom grinned and everyone smiled at him.
“Have you lot noticed how much time Arthur spends with Professor Binns?” Everyone shook their heads that they hadn’t noticed. I overheard him talking to Binns in the hall last week. He was asking him all sorts of Muggle related questions. It was sickening! Professor Sir… what does a toaster thing do? And… what does a ther-mummy-ter do Sir? He asked question after question until Professor Binns became cross with him and told him to, “Go read your textbook Arthur!”
They all started laughing again. Tom looked up towards the teacher’s table. All the teachers were present and enjoying conversations with each other. Tom squinted his eyes at Professor Ludan. He was talking to Professor Lockhart and Professor McGonagall.
“Look there’s a student sitting at the teacher’s table!” Tom pointed towards Professor Ludan. Severus looked towards him and saw Amora sitting next to Professor Ludan.
“She’s not a student!” Severus said with his eyes still looking at her.
“Not a student?” Tom looked shocked.
“Nope! She’s Professor Ludan’s daughter. Her name is Amora!” Severus answered.
“Foul… Filthy name! Disgusting!” Tom sneered, threw down his half eaten sandwich, grabbed his book bag, and left the Great Hall leaving everyone bewildered. Lucius half stood up wondering if he should follow him or leave him alone. He decided to leave him alone and sat back down.

Lucius looked past Crabbe and Goyle at Rosier and Wilkes. They were laughing about the trouble they’d gotten into in Astronomy class. Crabbe laughed at them with a mouthful of pineapple-flavoured ham and Goyle watched them laugh as he took a bite of his hotdog. Severus smiled at all of them, his plate pushed away and cleaned off; he sat with his arms folded on the tabletop.
“It was so funny! Longbottum has his toad trained to stay in his pocket wherever he goes. All I had to do is point my wand at his pocket and say… but this is so illegal! I really shouldn’t teach you lot this!” Rosier glanced towards the teahers table at the head of the Great Hall.
“Awww! Tell us!” Nott begged as he moved to sit closer to Severus so he could hear Rosier better.
“Alright!” Rosier smiled at Nott, “I said, Dracius and Longbottums toad turned into a baby dragon in his pocket! Hehehe!” Rosier shot another quick look at the teacher’s table. Everyone around him started laughing and Nott looked like his ribs ached from laughing so hard.
“Did you get caught?” Lucius asked.
“Well… Yes and No! You see… Longbottum started screaming and crying because the dragon bit his hip. Lucky for him, I created a Blue Nose and they’re teeth aren’t venomous but it bit him good…it did!” Rosier laughed some more and said, “Wilkes held him still while I changed the dragon back to his pocket loveing toad.”
“Yea, but Professor Sinistra walked into the classroom to see me pinning Longbum against his desk and Rosier with his wand pointed directly at him. She wasn’t too happy with us and this is why we were late getting here. She held us behind and gave us a good scolding... We also lost the house ten points,” Wilkes frowned.
“It’s almost time for us to go to Care of Magical Creatures class.” Rosier said as he looked down at his pocket watch.
“I’m going to like today’s class! Today we get to learn about those fuzzy little green-eyed Gindlies. I like those creatures! They’re as loveable as cats, eat truffles all day, and blow up like blowfish when you frighten them. I’ve never seen a funnier creature.” Wilkes laughed.
They all picked up their book bags, stood up from the table and made their way out of the Great Hall with a few other students from the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables.
“Where are you first year students going next?” Rosier asked curiously.
“We’re going to Herbology class next,” Severus answered.
“Ah… Professor Ivy! She’s the prettiest Professor Hogwarts has ever seen but she’s deadly tempormental,” Rosier frowned.
“I know!” Severus sighed, “She broke a pot across the wall in a room adjacent to the classroom last week and all because her husband sent her a howler.”
“Nott told me about that! Terrible thing sending a howler to Professor Ivy! I wonder if her husband is still alive?” Wilkes grinned.
“Well… we should get going to class! See you lot later!” Rosier said and turned to walk towards the door that led out to the grounds and to Care of Magical Creatures class. Wilkes followed beside him and they started talking about their next adventures.
Lucius, Crabbe and Goyle started walking towards Herbology class. Severus and Nott followed them.
“We have class with the Gryffindors!” Nott sighed but Severus beamed with an expression of eagerness.
“What’s with you Sev? Why do you look so delighted about it?”
“Rosier gave me a good idea.” Severus smiled at Nott.
“Well… none of them carry toads around in their pockets. What’s your good idea?”
“I want to get Peter!” Severus watched Lucius as he came to a stop at the back of a long line of Slytherin students who waited to be allowed inside the Herbology classroom. Professor Ivy seemed to almost always be late to open her classroom door, which was unusual for a Hogwarts teacher.
Severus stopped behind him and put his book bag down against the stonewall.
“What do you mean, you want that Peter kid? You want to jinx him or something?” Nott asked and Lucius turned around to see what they were talking about. He looked at both of them and said, “I you want to try something… why don’t you bewitch their books to bark like a dog and snap at them?” Lucius said in a soft tone and smiled, “That would be a funny sight!” He said in an even lower tone as he looked away from Severus down the row of Gryffindor students. His eyes narrowed on Peter. Peter stood at the back of the line behind Remus. James and Sirius appeared to be deep in conversation but Lucius couldn’t hear what they were saying. His attention turned to Professor Ivy. She was walking towards them with an ancient looking book in her hand and a carpetbag in the other.
“Sirius would you be a dear and help me carry this bag so I can unlock the door?” Professor Ivy asked sweetly. Sirius jumped out of line and took the bag from her. Professor Ivy pulled a key from her pocket, walked up to the classroom door, inserted the key and unlocked it.

Sirius followed Professor Ivy down the center isle to her desk and put her bag on top of it. There were two long tables that stretched the length of the classroom. On the table to the left, there were many unused clay pots of different shapes and sizes. Under the table stood many bags of different veriates of fertilizer. On the table to the right were potted plants with bright red flowers. These plants vined themselves around a single branch that stood in the center of the pot.
The Gryffindor students stood to the left of the table and Sirius made his way down to where James, Remus and Peter stood. He took an empty place that James saved for him. The Slytherins stood on the other side of the table. Severus looked down at his plant and heard a soft voice from behind him, “Not to close Severus! If they smell you, they’ll spit on you and you don’t want their venom in your eyes,” Professor Ivy warned as she walked past him to the head of the table.
“Good Afternoon class! Sorry I was late! My youngest had a nasty little fall from his broom this morning and… he broke his leg but don’t worry! I took him to St. Mungos hospital and they healed him right up. He’s perfectly fine now,” Professor Ivy smiled and continued, “What we have here…” She pointed at the nearest plant, “is a Dancing Dropemore!” She paused and looked down the table at all the eager faces, “Now this may be the easiest assignment you’ll receive this year and you’ll have to give a special thanks to Professor Ludan because he requested that I grow these plants for one of his potion assignments but he wouldn’t tell me what they’ll be used for. I swear…. That man can be so secretive and so completely stubborn but if he hadn’t begged me… I… I wouldn’t!” She stopped her rambling to look at the nearest plant and continued, “These plants grow wit a healthy diet of music, water once every three days, and direct sunlight. I want each of you to keep a feeding schedule and journal so you can keep track of their progress. I will be in charge of the music and make sure that they get a good dose of it. Today I would like all of you to draw a picture of your plant in its journal and get acquainted with your plant,” Professor Ivy smiled and walked down the center isle towards her desk. She sat down; picked up the old book she had brought with her, and began reading it.
Severus looked at the book. It read, “Magical Gardens For Advanced Gardeners” on the front cover.
“How do we get acquainted with our plants?” Nott asked while he leaned closer to his plant to get a closer look at it, his quill poised in his hand and his plants journal opened on that table in front of him. Severus heard the distinct sound of a plant spitting and saw a yellow glob of liquid fly through the air and nail Nott right on his forehead. Severus laughed and Nott said, “Oh Sick! The bloody thing spit on me!” Nott bent over to try to prevent the sticky yellow liquid from going down the bridge of his nose. He whipped his forehead with the cuff of his sleeve and then whipped the sticky yellow spit on his trousers. Professor Ivy ran up to him with a wet rag and helped him to clean up. When she got a good bit of it off of him she looked to the rest of the class and said, “I’m sorry class! I cant’ believe that I forgot to tell you the most important thing. The red flowers that you see on your plant, they contain venom that is harmful to the eyes. Please do not get to close to them! These flowers have the ability to smell you and they like to spit. If the venom gets in your eyes, it can cause you to go blind so…Be Warned. I told Professor Ludan that these plants were to dangerous for students but he insisted and gave me those puppy dog eyes of his… just please be careful!” Professor Ivy smiled meekly at all of them and looked back at Nott to see if she got all the sticky yellow spit off him.
“I’m glad it didn’t get in your eyes,” She said softly as she rubbed a red spot on his forehead that made him wince. Severus watched them with one hand on his hip and the other on the tabletop next to his plant’s pot.
Lucius looked over Severus’s shoulder at them and Narcissa stood behind Lucius with a smile on her face as she looked over Lucius’s shoulder at Nott.
“Well… now you know and you’ll know to be more careful. Just… remember that they don’t really know whom they are spitting at and their only instinct is to defend themselves. Please don’t be angry with it!” Professor Ivy gave Nott a worried look.
“No Madame! I’m not angry! I’ll be good with it!” Nott smiled.
“Thanks Nott!” Professor Ivy smiled back, took her yellow stained rag into the adjacent room. A few minutes later she came out of the room without it and sat down at her desk.
Severus had his plants journal out and was drawing a picture of it as best he could since he had to hold his journal in his hands while standing a good distance away from it. Nott was standing next to him doing the same but Lucius stood next to them with one hand rubbing his chin and the other on his hip. He stared at his plant and Severus looked at him wondering how Dobby was going to do this bit of homework for him.
It wasn’t long before the bell rang. Class felt short but Severus remembered all the time they had spent standing in the hall. He stowed his plant’s journal in his book bag and picked it up. Severus glanced over at Peter. Peter was eyeing his plant nervously and was standing slightly behind Remus. Remus was watching James and Sirius with a weary look on his face. Severus could hear James and Sirius laughing and looked at them.
James was moving his hand slowly towards his plant. As his hand came closer to his plant, his plant spat as quickly as it could at James hand and James drew back his hand just short of getting hit by the yellow spit.
“Come on James! This isn’t funny!” Remus moaned but Peter saw what James did and said, “Sure it is!” Peter laughed.
Remus turned his back to them with his arms crossed across his chest. He was annoyed with them because they wouldn’t stop teasing their plants. He spied Severus watching them. Severus gave him an angry look and looked away from him. He looked behind him to see if Lucius left. He had but Nott stood beside still, his book bag hung from his shoulder. Nott was giving Remus an angry stare too.
“Lets go Nott!” Severus sounded perturbed. Nott nodded in agreement and followed Severus out of the Herbology classroom.

Severus walked with a swift pace down the hall and Nott once again, had to take larger steps in order to keep up, “Slow down Severus!” Nott protested. Severus stopped to look back towards the Herbology classroom, his wand at the ready. Nott looked at his wand. He looked back towards the Herbology classroom and pulled his own wand from his pocket. They didn’t see James or his friends though. They were still in the classroom playing with their plants.
“I don’t suppose they’ll leave until their plants run out of spit Sev!” Nott looked at Severus, “So… what do you want with Peter?” Nott asked as they walked down the hall towards the door that led out to the grounds.
”I just want to catch him alone and have a word with him but I doubt I will. He’s always hiding behind Potty and his friends,” Severus began to look even more angry then he was when he glared at Remus.
“Well… not always! I’ve seen him in the library after dinner a few times but most of the time his friends came and got him…” Notts words trailed off as the walked through the door and out onto the open grass beyond. The sun was still in the sky and its rays rippled across the lake. They met up with Rosier and Wilkes who hadn’t noticed them approach. They heard Rosier say, “I never thought I’d get that black spotted Gildy off my leg if it hadn’t been for you! Thanks!”
“No problem mate! I think it loves you!” Wilkes laughed and said, Oh Rosier! You rock my world! I’m the luckiest little Gildy!” in a mockingly girly voice.
“Ha! Ha! Wilkes!” Rosier smiled. Severus and Nott laughed at the both of them. Rosier and Wilkes smiled at them and said, “Hello!”
“Hey Severus! Have you been thinking of a way to get back at them Gryffindors?”
“Yea, I want Peter!” Severus grinned mischieviously.
“Which one of them is he?” Wilkes asked.
“He’s the short portly one.” Severus answered.
“So you want us to jinx him?” Rosier asked.
Severus shook his head “No” and said, “I want him!”
“You want him? I don’t understand mate,” Rosier gave a curious expression.
“I want to corner him alone. We can take him to that unused classroom. The one near that statue of that witch.”
“I know where that is! We pass it all the time. Mr. Filche seems to like that old classroom. I see him going in and out of there looking for students. That’s not a good idea!” Rosier looked towards the sunset as he began to think of a better idea.
“We could take him to the common room on one of the nights that Tom has prefect duties. We could keep him in the hall while one of us says the password so… he can’t hear it and them bring him inside. Nobody would care once they heard we planned to use him as a guinea pig to test curses on. They would think it’s quite funny,” Wilkes suggested with a smile.
“If we even catch him!” Nott added just as Lucius walked up.
“Hey Lucius!” Rosier smiled but Lucius’s blank expression didn’t change. Rosier looked at Wilkes and whispered, “Imperius!” but Lucius heard what he said and snapped, “I am not being controlled by anybody you idiot!
Wilkes smiled at Rosier and said, “Nope! Guess not!” and they both chuckled. Lucius glared at them both indignantly.
“Grrrrr! CRABBE… GOYLE!” Lucius screamed and Crabbe and Goyle came running out from under the nearest shade tree. They stopped beside Lucius, panting for breath, and Goyle asked, “Sup?”
“Nothing! We were only joking Lucius!” Rosier answered.
“Yea, don’t do this Lucius! We know Lord Voldemort wouldn’t do that to you! We were only joking!” Wilkes said with a distressed look on his face. Lucius still bore down on them with an angry glint in his eyes. He looked at Severus and said, “Coming?” Severus nodded, “yes” and followed them inside. Nott began to follow Severus but a hand from Rosier held him back.
“Stay with us Nott! MacNair has prefect duties tonight,” Rosier said sternly.
“Yea, but he had prefect duties last night!” Nott whined.
“Tom talked him into taking his duties tonight because he wanted to go to the Chamber.” Rosier looked down at Nott and Wilkes looked across the lake. The last bit of sun was slowly going down.
“Have you seen the Chamber?” Nott asked. His eyes sparkled with curiousity.
“No! Tom doesn’t want to draw to much attention to it. He sneaks in at ungodly late hours and sneaks back out before the sun comes up. I honestly don’t know how he gets his homework done or even stays awake in class. He’s got more will power then I do!” Rosier smiled.

If no one posts feed back on this soon... I'm going to delete this rubbish!

Nott smiled, looked towards the lake, and back to him again, “Do you know where the Chamber is?”
“Only Lord Voldemort knows and he told us not to go looking for it because he’s the only one who can open it so don’t go looking for it!” said Rosier sternly. They began walking towards the door that let them into Hogwarts.

*
Severus followed Lucius, Crabbe and Goyle to the Slytherin dormitory. Felonius was pacing back and forth in his portrait. He appeared to be quite bored. He looked down on them from an angle and they could see that his hands rested behind his back. Goyle said the password and they walked into the common room. Lucius and Severus looked towards the leather armchairs to see Tom and MacNair sitting in them. The chairs were facing each other and both Tom and MacNair were leaning forward on their knees. They were talking in low tones. Lucius stepped closer to Tom and gave a slight bow after Tom looked at him. Tom looked back to MacNair, not even acknowledging Lucius’s bow. Severus heard MacNair say, “You know… I really think that’s a good idea and I’ll agree to it but what if the others don’t?” MacNair asked with a worried expression.
“They’ll go through with it simply because I tell them to and if they don’t…” MacNair cut him off with a whisper, “Avada Kedavra?”
“Yes MacNair! Serve me or die! There is no inbetween! Together we will do away with all the Mudbloods that have no right to be attending Hogwarts and we will make this school pure! Only pure bloods should be permited to attend Hogwarts. Salizar Slytherin wanted this school to be pure and we will see his dream fulfilled!” Tom stood up and took a drink of the Butterbeer that he held in his hand. He whipped his mouth with his sleeve and asked, “Are you with me MacNair?”
“Yes Milord!” MacNair smiled and Tom handed him the Butterbeer. MacNair took a drink and handed it back. Tom looked at Lucius and asked, “Are you with me Lucius?”
“Yes Milord!” Tom handed him the Butterbeer, Lucius took a drink and handed it back. Tom looked at Severus. Severus looked at him and didn’t take his eyes off him. He had never felt so blank as he looked at him. As if he were void of all emotion.
“Severus… are you with me? Do you want to see Hogwarts cleansed of all those filthy little Mudbloods?”
“Yes… Mi…Milord!” Severus said meekly. Tom smiled and passed him the Butterbeer. Severus took a hearty drink of it and passed it back. Tom proceeded to aske Crabbe and Goyle the same question and they both drank from the bottle of Butterbeer.
“I better start my prefect duties Milord. Good Luck tonight!” Tom nodded at MacNair and drank the last bit of Butterbeer from his bottle. MacNair glanced at Severus before he started to leave the common room. Severus felt a wave a fear that was not his own. It was MacNair’s. He watched MacNair as he left the common room. Lucius sat down in the brown leather armchair and began talking to Tom excitedly about the removal of the Mudbloods and their conversation soon turned to the Basilisk.
Severus slowly began walking to his dorm room as quietly as he could. He slowly opened the creaky dorm room door, entered and walked over to his four-poster bed. He put his book bag down on the desk beside his bed. His bed had never looked more inviting. He flung himself on it and stuffed his pillow under his chin.
“Hey Dobby! Are you under there?” Severus looked under Lucius’s bed from the edge of his bed. A few minutes past with no answer from Dobby.
“Dobby?” Severus sat up on his elbows and looked around the room but he couldn’t see Dobby anywhere.
“Master no longer permits Dobby to speak to anyone Sir!” Dobby squeaked from underneath the bed.
“Come on Dobby! That’s insane!”
“Can’t-make-noise-Sir! Mustn’t be found Sir!” Dobby began to look distressed.
“Professor Dumbledore will never find out about you if you don’t leave this room Dobby.”
“But Dobby wants to Sir! Dobby wants to see Hogwarts Sir! Dobby is curious Sir!” Dobby’s eyes peered out from underneath Lucius’s bed and looked up at Severus. He quickly added, “Er… Dobby - musn’t – talk – to - anyone!” as he banged his head on the base (bottom) board of Lucius’s bed inbetween each word that he said. Severus covered his eyes and gritted his at the sound of Dobby’s painful whimpers. After Dobby stopped, Severus said, “Do you know how much trouble Lucius would get into if they found you here?”
“Yes Sir! Dobby knows!” Dobby sighed while rubbing his head, “Dobby obeys Sir! Dobby would never disobey and venture out Sir!” Dobby covered his mouth and began banging his head once again.
“Alright… alright Dobby! No more talking!” Dobby stopped and looked at Severus. Severus held a finger to his lips, “Shhhhh!” and watched Dobby as he rubbed his sore head again.

Thanks for reading my story! I've been caught completely off guard!

Mrs. Rowling doesn't really read these forums... This is all in good fun! :)

~

Severus slid off the edge of his bed and undressed himself. He retrieved his pajamas from his trunk and put them on. He crawled under his covers, rolled on his side and propped himself upon his elbow. He looked down at the spot where Dobby had been lying. Dobby had crawled back into the darkness under Lucius’s bed and couldn’t be seen. Severus rolled on his back and looked up at the ceiling. In the nearest corner next to the window, a former student had jokingly carved finger groves that looked like claw marks into the wall to give the dorm room the appearance that it had actually served as a dungeon ceil at one point but everyone knew that it never had.
Severus tried to stay awake but as time wore on, sleep got the better of him and he dozed off. His dreams trouble him. He tossed and turned, his blankets wrapping around him snuggly. He saw himself standing before the Wizengot and a panel of judges bent over him like large shadows of dark figures. At first he couldn’t hear what they were saying and felt very afraid. The judge that stood in the middle of the other dark figures leaned forward. Severus thought he was looking up at Mr. Filche and he heard him say, “Boy… I know what you’ve been up too!” Severus gave a worried expression as he listened to him.
“You’re in league with Tom Riddle! Yes… I know… because I’ve been watching you!” The man shouted and continued, “You hate Mudbloods boy?”
Severus narrowed his angry eyes on the man and spit on the floor.
“Yes! You hate them! I see that!” The man answered his own question and said, “So… It’s true! You have been helping to kill those Muggle born students at Hogwarts!”
Severus’s eyes grew big with fear, “No Sir! I never killed anyone!”
The man ignored him and pointed towards a door to the right of Severus, “Look Boy! Look what awaits you!” The man sneeringly bellowed down at Severus. Severus looked towards the door and gasped. In the doorway stood two dementors that looked at him hungrily. The sight of the dementors was enough to jolt him awake from his nightmare. He sat up and jerked his arm free from his covers. He wiped the sweat away from his forehead with his sleeve and freed himself from his covers. After he was completely free and his covers fixed, he slowly laid back down. He pulled his blanket up to his chin, took a deep breath and looked towards Lucius’s bed to see Lucius sleeping in it. He looked out the window. The night’s sky twinkled with many stars. Severus soon drifted off to sleep and slept soundly.

~

Severus awoke to someone roughly nudging his shoulder as he lay on his side. He jerked his shoulder out of their hand and rolled over to see who it was. Crabbe was standing next to his bed with a piece of bread in his hand.
“You shouldn’t sleep through breakfast mate. You need a full belly to make it to lunch time.” Crabbe smiled at him and ate the last bit of his bread.
“Let me sleep Crabbe!” Severus demanded and rolled on his belly. He took his pillow and hid himself underneath it.
“No Sev! Time to get up!” Crabbe grabbed Severus’s pillow and tried to take it off his head but Severus had a firm grip on it.
“L-let GO!” Severus shouted. Crabbe laughed. He let go of his pillow and the pillow flew back in Severus’s face. Severus threw it on the floor and glared at Crabbe angrily. He sat up in his bed and pointed at the window, rain was beating hard against it and the sound of thunder was echoing the room. Lightening streaked across the skies as Crabbe looked out the window.
“It’s raining outside! Surely Care of Magical Creatures class has been canceled!” Severus pulled back his covers and leaned forward on his knees.
“Nope! It’s been moved to the old classroom near the witch! I suggest you hurry up and get dressed or we’ll be late!”
Severus growled angrily before he jumped out of his bed. He was seriously thinking about skipping class altogether but hurriedly took of his pajamas and put on the neatly folded Slytherin uniform that lay in a chair next to his bed. He stuffed his Care of Magical Creatures book into his book bag and followed Crabbe out of their dorm room.
They walked across the common room, up the three stairs and out of the portrait.
It wasn’t a very long walk to the old classroom but the halls were a buzz with students coming and going. A few stood next to their friends, holding lively conversations. It was a perfectly normal morning despite the thunder, lightening, and rain that fell hard against the windows that lined the hall. A couple cracks of thunder caused a few students to jump with fright.
As they approached the classroom door, they saw Lucius, Goyle, and Nott waiting for them in front of the door. Crabbe walked over to Lucius and Goyle. They said their, “Good Mornings” and went inside. Nott walked over to Severus, “Tom has Prefect duties tonight!”
“Yeah?” Severus looked at Nott curiously. They began to walk inside the classroom and Severus looked for a desk to sit at. He expected to see the same dusty tables that he saw when his father questioned him but instead saw nice clean desks with matching celtic paterns carved in the corners and down the desk’s legs. He sat his book bag down on a desk that sat on the left side of the center isle. Nott did the same and they sat down.
“Well… Tom doesn’t like this and he’s… MacNair tends to write up Slytherins that he sees out of bed at night. Tom however… wouldn’t care if he caught us bringing Peter to the common room. He might even shirk his duties and join us if he caught us.” Nott smiled. Severus was about to speak but Professor Felonia had risen from her old wooden chair that sat behind and elaborately carved celtic teachers desk and was now standing in front of it with a long black slender cane that almost resembled a horse’s whip.
“Good Morning Class!” She said with a voice that sounded like a cat.
“Good Morning Professor!” All the students responded simultaneously.
“Class… today we will be working with Gildies but before each of you receive one, I want all of you to write down these four sentences on the blackboard.”Professor Felonia swatted the blackboard with her cane. A few students jumped with fright. Professor Felonia used her cane as a pointer as she read the four sentences that she wrote on the blackboard.

1. All magical creatures should not be kept as pets.
2. All magical creatures should be given a great deal of respect. Do not mistreat your magical creature.
3. All magical creatures have names and you are to memorize their names.
4. All magical creatures have abilities and you must learn them.

Severus pulled out a piece of parchment, his inkbottle, and his quill. He began to write down the four sentences. He looked up from his parchment towards a purring noise. In the corner of the room stood a huge cage with different coloured fur balls in it. One of them sat on its bum with its short little hind legs outstreatched in front of it. It appeared to be the plumpest one in the whole bunch. It licked its front paws, rubbed its nose with them and winked at Severus. Severus shook his head, thinking he was seeing things. Severus’s ears followed the purring sound to Professor Felonia. She was sitting on the edge of her desk while smiling warmly at a moving picture of what appeared to be her husband and son. She looked away from it to see if all the students had finished writing the sentences.
“Is everyone finished? Raise your hand if you are!” Everyone raised their hands.
“Alright…” Professor Felonia paused and said, “I’m sure you are all wondering what makes these creatures so magical. You look at them and see plump little fluffy fur balls that love to… well… love each other and everything else around them.” She paused again and continued, “I wanted my first lesson to be about Gundy Worms but they were out of stock and I bought these Gildies instead. Gildies have the power to make crops grow more hardy and healthy. They gaurintee that a farmer’s crops will yield good vegetables and fruits and many grape farmers love to own at least one Gildy for each grape field. The wine produced from these grapes is saught after by many wine conosures. I know that the first rule says that magical creatures should not be kept as pets but in the case of these Gildies… They are not dangerous to adults or children which makes them perfect for this lesson… except… that black spotted one seems to like to attach itself to your leg and hug you tightly so be careful with that one. Its simply being too loveable!” Professor Felonia chuckled. She walked over to the cage and unlocked the door, “When I call your name, I want you to come and pick out which Gildy you want. Take it back to your desk and don’t worry… they are trained to sit and be still. They will not run off your desk.” She looked around the room and said, “Lucius Malfoy!”
Lucius slowly walked over to the cage. He looked through the open cage door at the Gildies and picked out a brown and white spotted one. He took it back to his desk and passed it to Crabbe. Crabbe sat it on the desk and petted its soft fur.
“Sirius Black!” Sirius walked over to the cage and picked out a brown one. He sat down and placed the Gildy on top of the desk. James picked up his front paws. The Gildy stepped back two paces and stood up on its hind legs for James. It stood for two more minutes before it sat down.
“Molly!” Molly walked over to the cage and picked a cream coloured Gildy. She cuddled it in her arms like it were a baby doll as she walked back to her desk. Arthur looked at it and said, “It looks like an overgrown fat rat!”
“Arthur! Don’t say things like that! You might hurt its feelings!” Molly had her hands on her hips and the Gildy looked at them both with a clueless expression on its face.
“Sorry Molly!” Arthur smiled weakly.

“Severus Snape!” Severus sluggishly stood up from his chair and walked towards the cage. He looked down at all the Gildies and they all looked up at him with their short little arms outstreached to be picked up. Severus cringed.
“Pick one out Severus!” Professor Felonias urged.
“Do I have to?” Severus asked. Professor Felonia shook her head. She appeared to be amused and whispered, “You Slytherins are all alike! Pick one out!”

Here's a bit more...

“Severus Snape!” Severus sluggishly stood up from his chair and walked towards the cage. He looked down at all the Gildies and they all looked up at him with their short little arms outstreached to be picked up. Severus cringed.
“Pick one out Severus!” Professor Felonia urged.
“Do I have to?” Severus asked. Professor Felonia shook her head. She appeared to be amused and whispered, “You Slytherins are all alike! Pick one out!”
Severus looked at each Gindly as he leaned against the bars of the cage. Nott left his chair and joined him. He gripped the bars of the cage and peered down at each of them.
"Sev! Pick that one!" said Nott excitedly as he pointed at a light brown one near the front. Severus wrinkled his nose at it.
Professor Felonia tried to wait patiently but other students were anxious to pick out their Gindlies.
"Hurry up Severus!" She said softly. Severus gave in and pointed at the light brown one.
"Well... don't be shy! Pick it up!" Professor Felonia smiled, her cat light fangs beamed white. Severus slowly bent down and picked it up under its armpits. The creature hummed in his arms. He quickly handed it to Nott and Professor Felonia asked, "Are you two going to share him?"
"Yes Professor!" said Severus quickly. They took it back to their desk and placed him in the middle. It quickly became a hyper active mess. It ran from one end of the desk to the other, knocking over Severus's inkbottle all over his parchment. The four sentences that he wrote down quickly turned into one huge inkblot.
James and Sirius began laughing and pointed their fingers at him while holding their sides from laughing so hard.
After five minutes of doing that, the Gildy suddenly began to show it's loveable side to Severus's dismay. It began hugging Nott and Severus in turn and Severus tried to prevent it but gave in after the third hug attempt. After what felt like twenty hugs apiece, the Gildy sat on it's bum and stretched its hind legs out on the desk. It licked its paws and stared at the both of them. Severus covered his face and turned away from it. He looked at James and saw that his Gildy had him rocking it like a baby and the creature was humming up at him. Severus chuckled and James shot him an angry glare. He passed the Gildy to Sirius who didn't look at all in a fatherly mood to hold a Gildy. Sirius put the Gildy on the desk and turned to look at Severus. Severus stared at them both with a scowl. James mouthed a silent threat at him and Severus cussed him back in an undertone so that Professor Felonia couldn't hear him. Sirius grinded his fist in the palm of his hand and joined James in making threats at Severus. James's Gindly sat on his hind legs and watched them with a blank expression on its face. After hearing Sirius say, "I'll kill you Snivellus!" it began crying in a high-pitched rat-sounding wail. James tried to comfort the poor creature, hoping that it would stop wailing quickly because it was attracting attention to them.
"We're only joking! We don't mean a bit of it!" The Gildy stopped, took a breath and looked at James.
"Yea, don't believe a word of it Gildy!" said Remus who was looking at the Gildy from the desk next to James and Sirius.
"If the gits smart... he'll believe every last word!" Sirius growled with his arms crossed across his chest as he leaned back in his chair. The Gildy ran into James's arms again and began sobbing in his armpit.

Tad bit more...

Pressor Felonia walked briskly towards them.
"What is the mofatter?" She asked with a distressed expresson. James looked up at her, "Oh... Er... Nothing!" She looked at him disbelievingly with her hands on her hips.
"Professor... It was an accident. It stubbed its foot on Sirius's textbook and its been crying since." said Remus as he managed a smile that faded slowly after Professor Felonia turned to look at him.
"Please hand him to me." said Professor Felonia curtly. James stood up from his chair and delicately passed the Gildy to her. Professor Felonia craddled it in her arms and rocked it like a baby until it stopped crying. Then she put it back in the cage with the rest of the Gildies.
Severus waited for her back to be turned before he began hand gesturing cuss words at Sirius and James. He flipped his hand under his chin at Sirius and Sirius nearly jumped out of his chair in an attempted to grab Severus but James grabbed his shoulder and forced him to sit down again.
"We'll get him mate but not here!" James warned.
At the sight of Sirius coming at him, Severus jumped to his feet, shoved his hand into his pocket and drew his wand at Sirius.
"No! Not here Severus! You'll get in trouble!" said Nott with an alarmed look on his face. Severus was so full of rage that he didn't hear Nott. He stood frozen with his eyes glaring angrily at Sirius. He waited for Sirius to draw his wand and try something but Sirius sat in his chair huffing with a look that suggested he wanted to fight Severus despite the fact the Professor Felonia was present.
Nott tugged the back of his cloak and urged him to sit down. Severus quickly turned to see who was tugging him. Nott flinched at the sight of Severus. He was giving Nott the same angry glare. The bell rang and Severus pocketed his wand. Professor Felonia addressed the class, "Alright class! Before anyone leaves, I want you to bring your Gildies to the cage and put them inside." Nott picked up his Gildy and put it back in the cage while Severus returned to glaring at James, Sirius, Remus and Peter. He watched Remus take the Gildy that he shared with Peter to the cage and then jerkidly glared at Sirius. James pointed his finger at Severus and said, "We're going to get you Snivelly! You wait!"
"You Wish!" Severus snarled. He grinned but his eyes narrowed on them angrily.
"Come on Sev! Let's go!" Nott tugged his sleeve. Severus's book bag swung on his shoulder as he quickly turned to follow Nott out of the classroom.
"Don't let them get to you Sev!" said Nott as he walked alongside Severus down the corridor. They stopped at a stone pillar and waited. Severus pulled out his ruined parchment and set it on fire. Then he threw it to the floor and stepped on it a few times. His black hair swayed back and forth with each step. Nott backed away from him and watched him from a short distance.
"Sev..."
"WHAT?" Severus yelled with the angriest look that Nott had ever seen.

“Get behind the pillar! Quick!” Nott ran behind the pillar and Severus followed him. They waited for what felt like an eternity to Severus. As the minutes ticked by Severus became more and more impatient. Nott peaked around the pillar and saw that it was all clear.
“Nott, why are we standing here?” Severus asked as he looked around the pillar too.
“Because… if you want to get Peter, we’re going to have to lay low and not stir things up worse then you already have. Peter has to feel safe about going to the library alone,” Nott explained.
“Right,” Severus agreed. Nott slowly stepped out from behind the pillar into the corridor. The sun shined on him brightly from the window in front of him. The rain clouds had completely gone away. Severus covered his eyes as he walked towards Nott. They set off for the Great Hall, passing a few Ravenclaw students as they went. They entered the Great hall and walked over to the Slytherin table.
Nott sat down next to Wilkes and Severus walked over to Lucius to sit down but Tom gestured him to sit down next to him. Severus slowly sat down and listened to Tom’s conversation with Lucius.
“Milord, you said it wasn’t wise to write in that journal. You said it would…” Tom interrupted him, “No Lucius! It isn’t dangerous for me to write in my own journal. It needs to know what’s going on here at Hogwarts. It needs to know about the Chamber!” Tom said sternly without taking his eyes off his journal, his quill writing quickly and barely legibly.
“Yes Milord… but…?” Lucius watched his quill write across the journal page, his expression full of fear. He remembered what Tom had told him before, “If it gets desperate… it might just have the mind to use you as a tool to gain a living breathing body.” Tom looked up from his journal and put his quill in its inkwell.
“But what Lucius?” Tom looked at him expressionless.
“But if it…” Tom interrupted him again, “I’m ambitious but I’m not that ambitious Lucius. I would never deliberately destroy my one destiny,” Tom picked up his quill and began writing again.
“Yes Milord!” Lucius looked down at the food on his plate and began eating.
Severus sat wondering what they were talking about. He didn’t quite understand any of it. Tom looked up from his journal and looked at Severus, “Rosier tells me that you want to get that Gryffindor boy Peter. I have prefect duties tonight. After you get him, bring him to the common room and I’ll make sure that nobody inside gives a single word of protest,” Tom didn’t wait for Severus to reply. He looked down at his journal and began to write again. Somehow Severus knew that things weren’t going to go as he imagined they would.
“We could always use another Death Eater!” said Tom in a low tone as he answered another question from his mirror self in his journal. Severus looked lowered his sandwich and looked at Tom. He wondered what a Death Eater was but thought it wasn’t wise to disturb him with the question he had in his mind, “What is a Death Eater?” He looked towards the Gryffindor table to see if he could find James and his nates but he couldn’t find them.
After everyone finished eating they slowly stood up one by one. All of them watched Tom who still sat at the table, writing in his journal. He waved them away with a flick of his hand with out taking his eyes off his journal. They all quickly left, leaving MacNair with Tom. He sat a slight distance away from Tom with his quill in hand, finishing his Prefect report in peace.
Lucius, Crabbe & Goyle were the first to leave the Great Hall. Severus,Nott, Rosier, and Wilkes followed them. They split off after exiting. Lucius, Grabbe and Goyle went outside and Severus stood just outside the Great Hall doors with Nott, Rosier, and Wilkes.
There were no more classes scheduled for the rest of the day. The students were permited to use the rest of the day to study and get caught up on their homework assignments. Severus and his mates walked down the corridor talking about Peter. They all fell silent as they heard voices come near them. They stopped walking and watched as Professor Ludan and Professor Lockhart slowly walked towards them. Professor Ludan stopped in the hall and gave Professor Lockhart a very annoyed look.
“Quincy… I told you already! You cannot add Veritaserum to those Time Tellers! You can’t force something that already tells the truth… to tell the truth!”
Professor Ludan turned to look up the hall at Severus and his mates. Severus could see that he looked exasperated. He watched them as Professor Lockhart continued to speak.
“Yes… but I think mine’s lying because it… well… that can’t be true what it said, er… showed me. If only you would give me some Veritaserum. I could find out…”
Professor Ludan tried to speak more calmly, “Quincy… I’m sure that your Time Teller is telling the truth. Whatever you saw… is truth! Now please Quincy… I’m a busy man! Let me get back to my work!” Professor Ludan began walking down the corridor again and only stopped his pace after hearing Professor Lockhart speak again.
“Yes… you’re right Evrand. I’m sorry… but I just can’t believe it… you see! It’s too far fetched!” Professor Lockhart spoke to Professor Ludan’s backside. Professor Ludan slowly turned to face him. He could barely contain his anger.
“Quincey, they are your Time Tellers! Surely you know about them more then I!” Professor Ludan looked angrily at Professor Lockhart.
“Y-yes of course! The man at Knockturn Alley taught me everything I need to know.” Professor Lockhart stammered out.
Knockturn Alley?” Professor Ludan’s angery expression grew darker. He stepped quickly to Professor Lockhart and Lockhart instinctively raised his hand to his chest.
“No… no… it wasn’t like that Evrand! We… he asked me to go to Knockturn Alley so we could talk about them privately at the Crossbones pub.
“I can’t believe you Quincy! How could you purchase Time Turners from Knockturn Alley and allow your students to use them?” Professor Ludan didn’t wait for a reply. He jerkedly turned away from him and began walking away from him.
“Everand… it wasn’t… I swear!” Professor Lockhart said weakly as he watched Professor Ludan walk off.
Professor Ludan walked down the corridor towards Severus and stopped in front of him and Nott. Rosier and Wilkes stood behind them. Professor Ludan looked back down the corridor where Professor Lockhart had stood but he was now turning the corner at the end of the corridor and walked back towards the teacher’s staff room.
“Long time no see Severus!” Professor Ludan smiled.
“Hello Professor! I’ve been busy with classes and homework… lately,” answered Severus.
“That’s a good lad! Keep up with that homework or it’ll create un-needed stress,” Professor Ludan looked at the rest of the boys and smiled at them before continueing to talk to Severus, “I met your father. He was very insightful but… well, he was a nice man.” Professor Ludan smiled again.
“My father is as loving as the stone cold floor beneath your feet Sir!” Severus’s smile vanished from his face and he walked down the corridor towards the library with his friends following behind him.

As they reached the end of the corridor, Severus peered around it to look towards the Library’s front door. Nobody was in sight. Nott, who was standing next to Severus, took his turn at looking towards the library door.
“I’ll go see if Peter’s alone or not. Stay here Sev… alright?” Nott looked at him and waited for a reply.
“Yea, I’ll stay here! Don’t want to frighten the little git!”said Severus as he looked at the Library door.
