Isn't that a great title? I just thought that we don't have a pointless thread... well I guess the Trout thread is in a way... but this is something different.
I can't say I'm bored right now though!! I'm talking to Xaz and he's keeping me entertained! He'll probably keep me up half the night and then I'll be late to class... but I don't mind!
So... go at it.. vent, talk, make faces.. be bored!!!

Sure, blame me, just cos I'm entertaining! Just remember to set your alarm, dear. ;)
Aww, a kiss! Aint that sweet? :D
I'm not overly bored... I have an assignment I have to write this week that I should start doing, but I'll probably leave it to the last minute, hehe! And in case you are all wondering, my finger is healing nicely.. hopefully it will be all fixed soon! :)
Does that count as a rant? Er, hmm, I'll really have to come up with something better next time I rant. Oh well!

I don't have another exam until tuesday next week now! Oh the possibilities!
I might read GoF again in time for OotP.. yeah babee... Sometimes I forget all the little subplots in it.. like the blast ended screwkts or whatever they were called! lol!

Today was the worst day of exams... Maths and history like Fleur said... *sigh* Methinks, I failed both of them... The Cold War is awfully boring.... And this french teacher Mr Armstrong kept on standing behind me in History...
I'm bored, no one is on msn!! Come back! Talk to me! Three exams left!!! I need humans to talk to, instead of yelling at the television!

What makes you think those are humans talking to you on MSN? *Twilight Zone music plays in the background* Maybe they aer machines. Maybe we're all machines. Maybe there is no reality!

Sorry, I just got out of school!
And now, I get the the reason I'm posting: History is not boring. Only History teachers are.
I shall leave you to ponder these words of wisdom.

Yay! *Din sings* No school! No school! La la la la laaa la!! :D
No more school for ten weeks!! Whoohoo! Yesterday was our last day, and to celebrate, we played in a pond...
Sorry to all those who are still stuck there. :( If it makes you feel any better, I have ACTs on Saturday.
Then we get to go to the beach!

Well...when me and my friend are bored online, we duel. By dueling i mean i pull out a rubber haddock, and he pulls out a sword fish. Then I pull out a tin parrot, and he pulls out a stuffed dog(well that was automatically disqualified). It goes on and on until I win, but i dont think he realizes I'm taking it from the book
:)
Hey no more school!
And to think of it, I look forward to the new HP books more than Christmas or any other holiday. Which I think is rather unique, I look forward to literature more then presents and such.
:)

*sings* two more exams two more exams!!
I just buried my maths revision guide in the garden :D
And still... No one on msn, and I'm convinced they're humans! Only humans would have inane conversations about licking Brian Moloko, Seaseme Street, and going "eeeeeek" at odd moments because we're excited about OotP :D
History is not boring. Only History teachers are.
Might be, my history teacher always ignored me in class... She only paid her attention on [i]Kathleen[i]... Kathleen this, and Kathleen that. Oh Kathleen got 98% on her coursework, and a beautiful A*...
Then FINALLY when I get noticed by my art teacher, and selected to go to summer school in the Chelsea College of Art... I'M ON HOLIDAY!!!
Ooh Friday the thirteenth coming up, last exams on that day too:p
And to think of it, I look forward to the new HP books more than Christmas or any other holiday. Which I think is rather unique, I look forward to literature more then presents and such.
Ooh me too :) Birthdays and Christmas lost their charm after I became a teenager, and after I discovered my parents and the media had lied for me for ten years...
Christmas was much better when Santa excisted... :(
I wonder if wizards believe in Santa.... *ponders...*
ChianaWeasley

Nah, I doubt they believe in Santa, especially since every Christmas they get gifts and they know who their from none of the 'From: Santa' stuff
lithorose
06-11-2003, 07:06 PM
So, do you think Santa's a house-elf?
You believed in Santa till you were 10?! I found out for sure he didn't exist at 5, but I'd been suspicious for a long time before that. Maybe it was because we didn't have a chimney.:D
Don't you just hate that word..exam? The word itself is just painful. We hates it, we hatesss it forever!

 You poor misguided people... what do you mean Santa doesn't exist? That's the silliest thing I've ever heard! Though it does make me wonder about the aerodynamics of reindeer.. and how DOES he deliver presents to all those houses in such a short space of time.. and we don't have a chimney either...
 Maybe it is true! Maybe he isn't real! :(
Xaz runs off sobbing into a corner.
You.. you.. meanies! ;)

Aww poor Xaz, I'vve just ruined his life! Well, you can keep on pretending he exists... Santa still 'visits' our house, my baby brother just turned two on Saturday... Well Kaelin, is actually scared senseless of Santa. Fat bearded men creep him out for some reason!
Yup until I was ten... Sad isn't it!? I was started to doubt it (we to didnt have a chimmley (my parents left the key under the doormat for him to come in, was their excuse), and all the toys said, 'Made In China', I swear it was Lapland ;)
Dont get me started on the tooth-fairy!! :p
Fleur
06-12-2003, 05:24 PM
I believed in the Tooth Fairy for longer than is healthy... She used to write me notes on the back of pastage stamps! In fact, I think I may actually still believe...
Believing in Father Christmas must be harder in the US... I never really figured it out, but from the media it seems like American kids are actually supposed to believe all their presents come from him? Even the big ones from the parents? How does that work?
I love stockings!! They are my number 3 fave thing in the world. I'm so glad I have a kid brother who belives (or pretends to) so I can still get one.
lithorose
06-12-2003, 06:27 PM
It varies a lot by family. Some parents let their kids believe in him till they find out on their own, others will still give them presents from 'Santa' but will tell them he doesn't exist, and others (a small amount) won't even allow their kids anything to do with him. Some don't celebrate that aspect of Christmas, others don't believe it's healthy for the kids to believe in characters that don't exist.
What always teed me off more than the way the media presents Santa is the way the media presents Christmas. It NEVER snows on Christmas; people are always happy or they reconcile with their family, when that is totally not the case. 'A Christmas Story' is far more accurate to how things go.

I am so bored... I'm sitting in bed watching CMT's 100 Greatest Songs in Country Music... I totally disagree with the #1 pick which was Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man." I think it should have been something by Hank Williams or Patsy Cline (my personal favorite by the way)... but that's just me.

Oh my God, I shot my eye out!!!
When I found out santa wasn't real I was very upset, i was little and this girl my sister was friends with got angry at Din for some reason. So she took it out on me and told me there was no santa, I cried and cried. And I remember now, I was hysterical saying "So it was all a lie?!"
Kinda funny now that I think of it.
Actually Im glad I knew early on, because I'd ask my parents for all these things we couldn't afford, and after I knew I always watched what I asked for. Which I think made my parents feel alot better. Now I ask them for books mostly :D

You feel the same way I felt about a certain math book I had. It was evil I tell you, born to destroy me!!!!. It was too difficult and even made me cry sometimes. It was awful and I didn't even learn anything from it. I vandilized it writing ' we hates it' and 'evil' and 'errr' marks. But sense school is over I'm going to rip it up and cast into the fire. CAD=Computer Aided Drafting. It's what most architects, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, etc. use for designing everything. It's a pain in the !!! program that leaves you to do half of its math for it. But, for some reason, it's what everyone is still using.

Actually, my firm uses a couple of different CAD/D (the extra D is for Design as only early concept sketches are still done the old-fashioned way) programs, the better to be compatible with various clients ...and the one that does some of the math for the user, we're not so sure we trust that far so we always recheck the calcs anyway  but that's civil engineering for you, one mistake can (and has) produce unsafe structures and eventually nasty incidents that kill people, so better to recheck even if it makes for often tedious work. (I may attempt to get my professional registration this year - which would legally allow me to certify the safety of a proposed design; a responsibility I'm obviously nervous about, though it would obviously also be a huge step forward career-wise.)

True. Accuracy is VERY important. I'm having an extra hard time with it because I started another type of 3-D modelling program first, which was much easier, and so trying to adjust is rather painful.

Don't buy sunglasses online either - spouse's Morpheus shades broke practically as he took them out of the box :( and he's still in the process of trying to get a refund or replacement
poor spouse, he'd been wanting a pair of Morpheus shades since seeing the first Matrix film...
OTOH, less breakable things like T-shirts are fine to get online. spouse's grandma got us some really obscure shirts (well, OK, spouse's mom helped her with the online ordering part) that I've never seen offered elsewhere, and they tend to get almost as much attention at gaming cons as my big black cloak.
My lower back is burnt from where my teeshirt rode up my back, and I was leaning on my front reading OotP...
Been there, done that, except I was doing Computer Science homework on the quad (the program has to be input eventually, but figuring out exactly how to write a program can be done anywhere) on a hot sunny day in a swimsuit and shorts - I was pretty well roasted by the time I got my program the way I wanted  ow, ow, ow....
It's pretty hot and sunny here today, too. I think I'll go to the beach - after putting on lots and lots of the highest SPF sunscreen I can find, thank you.

I think I got my Evenstar at the Mystic Caravan, but they all come from the same manufacturer in South Africa. We rang the site up when after a month my Evenstar hadn't been delievered. It came in March, weeks after my birthday...
Oh clothes are fine :) I've bought tonnes of outfits from Topshop, they're gods :notworthy :p
I hope you get your refund Moxie.

Geez, I've taken a while to respond to this barb, haven't I? ;)
You're right of course Amb, the bottom half of the ladder does comprise Victorian teams, but the couple that sneak into the eight will have the benefit of home finals: after all, they're gonna hold them all here, aren't they? ;) :D
You just wait and see Amb, Essendon are just about to come good ( I wish! They could at least be consistent, sheesh!)

Hey Amb, do you Adelaide supporters really hate Port Power as much as everyone says you do? ;)
You're certainly better than them in finals.. it's great fun every year to see them go so very well in the regular season and then choke spectacularly when it gets to finals time. :D

bought myself a 'How To Draw Manga' book today, hopefully I'll get some time consumption out of that. And i got to go to the library today, which was nice.
Got me a copy of Willow by Drew Wayland, which is out of print. Got it from another library, yep, thats how much time i have on my hands when im not working.
Problem is, all my friends are away, and it takes people what feels like ages to post on the informer.
The potions thread is alot of fun, should have more of those we should. :)

I bought myself a How To Draw Faces book! How weird!
We can always debate why Ron has a cockney accent when he lives in Devon (he says mate and bloody all the time! and he says bang out of order! People in Devon dont say that!)
I could get a burnt nose... Wait already did that... Look like bloody Rudolph!
Or we can always decide whether Ron and Hermione should be together ;) Harry can't be the only one who gets a snog!!

Daniel Beddingfield lives near me, my little sister has met him tonnes of times, and I saw him across the road when I was waiting for the bus, and he is AMAZING live!! :D
I never knew he actually got around to breaking America! (did he then? or are you in the minority?)
Yes, Ron and Hermione are just destined for each other!! :D
I have a funny feeling I wont be bored this summer... I had a Welcome Day at college today... and I've been given a book list of 86 books to read... I've only read two... And that's Harry Potter and To Kill A Mockingbird....

I've met Andrie The Giant (before he passed away), Garth Brooks-my high school auditorium before he became famous, Alan Thick (Stood next to him for 30 minutes), sat with Sam Walton owner of Wal-Mart at all my bro's base ball games (before he passed away), Clint Black, Aron Tippen, Lori Morgan, and the list goes on!
I've only one thing to say... autographs aren't all that important in the grand scheme of things.

I do feel lucky! I remember that he was having a terrible time with his back and he wasn't permited to stand for long periods of time so.. they had him sit in a comfy padded chair while he gave out autographs. He didn't look cheerful that day but he was fun to talk to.

Wow, Andre the Giant: that's totally cool! Can you tell I'm a wrestling fan, hehehe? ;)
The WWE did a show here in Melbourne last year, and they had an exhibit where you can measure your hand against Big Show and Andre the Giant: those guys are big fellas! I think Big Show's hand was actually bigger, but Andre's was very impressive! Some wrestlers were there.. Lance Storm, Christian, Hurricane, Jamie Noble, Randy Orton, Nidia: it was pretty neat!
Christian was my fave, with the Hurricane a close second: I have a photo with the Hurricane, as I'm sure I've probably mentioned before. :D
Er, I'll shutup now... ;)

lol, Nicole Kidman also lives near by and James Nesbit (dont know if you know who he is) lives down my road, and my mum has met him in the shops millions of times :D
He did a Raggae version of Gotta Get Thru This, and it was just, wow. Although, some little tarts kept on standing on my toes to try and see him, so I got squished and missed him singing his new single...
If You're Not The One is one of my songs for Remus, god I'm sad...

Neat - spouse's family doesn't descend directly from Robert, but is officially part of Clan Bruce (we just found that out last year at a Highland Games; looked through some tartan vendors' books of family names and tartans.)

Well... think before you speak! How can you say something like that about Andre. Did you know that he was so grief stricken about his father's death that he died at his father's funeral.
My own father was murdered a year ago this month and i'm so grieved about his death... I sometimes feel like Harry when he looked into the mirror and kept calling for Sirius. When I dream about my father... I beg him to come home.

Andre the Giant was a sweetheart. :D He played Fezzik in the Princess Bride... but didn't even have enough strength to do any of his own stunts. :(

Well yeah? Sir Ian McKellen answered one of my questions on his E-post last year! :p That would be my only brush with fame..

But yes saadly he did have troubles with his back. Did you know he had surgery right after filming princess bride? What a brave fellow, he was in quite alot of pain during shooting apparently:(
But he shall always remain in my meory as the cheerful, friendly giant who was buddies with Domingo montoya. And he loved to rhyme

How am I meant to know who Andre the Giant is Serveus? I already said I never heard of him, and I was joking, I thought that was obvious, evidently, it wasn't.... But you don't need to insult people in return.
Oh Ian McKellen rocks :D He had the best shoes when I saw him at the local flower show a few months back. He and Ala Cumming, during their spare time during filming X2, went on nude beaches, you had to be there watching it to appriate how funny the way Alan was explaining it :D :notworthy Sir Ian!
