Okay, being as there's about a year till Prisoner of Azkaban is released(!), we need something to fill the time.;) So taking a cue from a thread over at Council-Of-Elrond, I thought it'd be cool to have a thread where we can make our own trailers for Prisoner of Azkaban, and later (or now) Goblet of Fire! So post, review, analyze, whatever, right here!




Oh, you want me to start this? Very well, then:

Scene: Azkaban prison. Shots going down flickering hall, footsteps...

Voiceover: "Thirteen years ago"

Prison bars scroll past. Prisoners scream.

Voiceover: "He was convicted..."

Closing in on one dark cell, through the bars.

Voiceover: "of killing thirteen people..."

Zoom in on a mans's deadened face. Camera stays on him as he stares deadened into it.

Voiceover: "Now,"

Shots of something running through the woods at night.

Voiceover: ".. He's escaped."

Harry: "Sirius Black...is after me?" Images flicker very fast: shots of Sirius laughing at the panic in Diagon Alley, shots of Dementors, shots of Quidditch, Snape sneering, Trewlawney predicting Harry's death.

Night. Lightning flickers, revealing Sirius standing over someone, holding a knife and with a mad look in his eye.

Fade in on camera running over water at night. Camera pans up to reveal old fortress in middle of a rocky island in the sea. A full moon and clouds fill the night sky.

Azkaban Prison

Home to the worst offenders

Has never had a breakout

Until now...

Voiceover: "He's gone! Sirius Black has escaped!"

Shot of Fudge at office receiving the news. "Escaped? How?"

Harry: "Sirius Black...betrayed my parents?"

Lupin: "And murdered Peter Pettigrew. Killed dozens of bystanders..."

Hagrid: "Laughed when he killed all 'em muggles..."

Harry: "And now... he's after me?"

Snape: "Who here...can tell me the difference between the true wolf...and the were-wolf?"

Hermione (shot of Lupin sleeping on train): "Prof. R. J. Lupin...he must be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher!"

McGonagall: "You are not allowed out after dark, Potter. It is simply not safe."

Fred and George: "Harry! C'mere!"

George (touching his wand to the map): "I solemnly swear I am up to no good."

Shot of map opening.

Harry: "Secret entrances to Hogwart's?"

Fred: "Not even the teachers know about all of them."

This Spring

Harry opens the entrance to the secret passage. Outside the Shrieking Shack, Malfoy gets mud thrown at him from nowhere. Suddenly Harry's head appears as he trips on the ground.

Snape: "Potter! What are you up to?"

Harry: "Nothing Professor Snape!"

Snape narrows his eyes.

Black.

Molly's voice: "We thought Azkaban was perfectly safe. If Black can break out of Azkaban, he can break into hogwarts."

::a visual flash of the prision upon a rock in the middle of the sea::

Arthur's voice: "But no one's really sure that Black's after Harry-"

::flashback to Harry listening, his eyes widen::
fade out to cabin on the train lights are out the door opens and a dementor's hand out of a cloak appears::

Arthur's voice: "Swear to me that whatever you might hear-"
Harry's voiceover: "I dont go looking for trouble, trouble usually finds me"
:: The camera scans each of the students terrified faces in the dark, Harry is seen falling to the floor of the cabin::

I rather like the first one best so far; it's obviously not the sort of trailer they'll actually make (not enough of recurring characters - only a bit of Harry - and makes it seem too scary for little kids) but utterly cool and doesn't give away the big plot twist to those who haven't read the books.

As one of the frequenters ofthe create-a-trailer thread at COE, I thought I'd make one (this is more of a teaser than a trailer):

In flourish and Blotts. Harry's hand picks up a book and holds it close to the camera. A picture of a giant dog is on the cover.

Harry (VO): What's this dog?

Shopkeeper (VO): That's a Grim. A Hellhound. It shows up when someone's about to die.

Cut to Harry's shocked face.

Flashback to Harry seeing the Grim on Privet Drive.

Back on Harry's shocked face.

Harry (whispering, still holding the book): about to die...

In the transfiguration classroom.

McGonagal: Potter! I have to tell you... Sirius Black...

Harry: Yeah, I know. He's out to get me...

McGonagal: Promise me you won't leave the grounds, for any reason!

Fred and George show Harry the Marauder's Map.

Fred: Any time you need to get out of the grounds, mate, this'll do the trick.

Harry grins at them.

Shots of Harry flying. He swoops through the air, grinning. But then he pulls his broom to a halt, his face white with fear; on the top of the stands is the Grim.

Trelawney sitting bolt upright in her chair

Trelawney: It will happen at midnight...

Harry on his broom. He pulls out his wand.

Harry: EXPECTO PATRONUM!

Trelawney (VO): The Dark Lord's servant will return to his master...

Harry outside the Forbidden Forest, a crowd of Dementors swarming around him. One steps forward. Harry falls to his knees.

Trelawney (VO): And will help Him return to power, more terrible than ever...

The Dementor lifts its hands to the hood of its cloak, and as it pulls the hood away we cut to black.

Camera glides quickly through Hogwarts gates the Dementors by them. Camera then glides fast, into the Entrance Hall, and into the Great Hall, and onto Remus Lupin who is waving and smiling after being introduced by Dumbledore

Dumbledore: May I introduce Professor Remus Lupin who will be replacing Professor Gildory Lockhart as our Defence against the Dark arts teacher!

Snape's VO drowing out Dumbledore: We're doing werewolves today...

Flashes to Harry falling off Broomstick, then to Remus pulling Sirius into a hug, then to Ron yelling, then to the dog again, then to a werewolf in the full light of the moon, then to the Dementors. (All really fast each clip about a few seconds long, changing to the beat of the theme music) It then flashes to a huge black trying to control a werewolfed Remus, and lingers on that

Another flash of lightning

VO: COMING SOON

[I]Dumbledore pulls out a name and camera zooms into his eyes

Everything's black... lightning starts flashing and you see Azkaban with every flash of light. Music starts...

Harry: He's after me?

Arthur Weasley: Harry, promise you won't go looking for Sirius Black...

The trains whistle blows and it starts to move.. Harry starts running as Ron flings the door open, then Arthur Weasley yells to him...

Arthur: promise me Harry!

It flashes to the scene on the train, first to the dementor, then Harry... music stops and you hear breathing and a heart beat and Harry falls to the floor, right when he hits the floor the music starts again. Then it goes to the scene where Snape is teaching

Snape: We will be learning about were-wolves today...

Scene change to Harry producing a patronus on the dementors attacking his other self, then to when Remus hugs Sirius then to a cloudy night where Harry and Hermione are hiding in the bushes and the moon is revealed
from a cloud... everything goes black and you hear a howl and then padded feet running and then a scream...

silvery letters spell 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' on the screen

OK, I couldn't resist bringing up this thread:

An ordinary House, at night.

Inside, a woman stands at the sink. She moves away, and we see that the dishes are washing themselves. The opening notes of Hedwig’s Theme play.

The woman walks over to a baby playing on the floor (doing magic stuff). She stoops to pick him up, but hears a noise outside and stops, looking out the window.

Outside the house again, a cloaked and hooded figure walks up the front path.

The woman screams.

LILY: James! James, he’s here!

A man runs in, looks out the window, and turns to his wife.

JAMES: Run Lily, take Harry and run. I’ll hold him off.

LILY: I’m not leaving…

She reaches down and cradles her son in her arms.

The door explodes inwards, and the cloaked figure steps inside.

A flash of green light and then cut to black.

VOICE OVER: AVADA KEDAVRA!
