JUST Capt. Jack? What about the delectable Orlandolas? Okay, so this is a Sparrow swoon thread.
QUESTION: can anyone make gold teeth look as sexy as Johnny Depp?

Orlando reminded me of Luke Skywalker, with Sparrow being a bit of Han Solo, and Elizabeth Princess Leia. You know, the straightforward hero, the older rapscallion (sp?) 'sidekick', and the spirited heroine. Or something like that. But Jack Sparrow is way wackier and cooler than Han Solo. :swoon:

Yar har har, count me in!
Cap'n Jack Sparrow do be a rum cove of a pirate, and a swoon god too!:swoon: :notworthy :swoon:

My sister Din, hates, I mean loathed Elizabeth. Said she was a slut. Actually i thought she was a rather good character. Who else comes up with the pirate rule parlle when being attacked by two pirates searching through her house. She also thought she was sluttly for taking off the dress, like she had a choice  .I especially appreciate her because she hated the corset and passed out. Id do the same thing. On the plus side she was saved by jack sparrow :D
Who wouldn't want to be saved by him?

If I was Elizabeth, I would have glared at the pirates and hopped in with the dress. HA.

Woohooo!!!! I finally saw it!
So best friend Abby and I got there just as the credits were rolling for the last showing, and I immediately fell in love. I mean, the music rocks. I'm a music swooner. :swoon: Consider the soundtrack SOLD!
Anyway, at first sight of Orlando I felt like giggling.. I'm still not sure why. I guess I respect him a lot more now that he isn't Legolas, and that his character DESERVES all the recognition. (Eh nevermind.. don't want to start any fights with the Lasses! ;)) And maybe I even swooned for him a little bit. :swoon:
I could have done without the cleavage.
Now, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow! Absolutely BRILLIANT! I can't believe he's from Kentucky. I knew from just about EVERYONE that Johnny Depp was supposed to be awesome in this movie, but really, I had no idea. He popped on the screen and I immediately started rolling on the floor laughing, he has SUCH a presence. And the whole mad-man thing. HYSTERICAL. The braided beard, the beads in his hair, his TEETH, soooo funny. But I didn't swoon for him.
The main Commodore dude reminded me of Robespierre from the A&E Scarlet Pimpernel movies. Ainsley will know who I'm talking about.
And speaking of Ainsley, the British soldiers shouting "Huzzah!" I nearly DIED!!!! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! Mua-ha-ha-ha. It's taking over.
I'll swoon for the swordfights too. :swoon: Soooo my type of movie! And the monkey that seriously needed some monkey lessons because he was acting like a parrot!
And I'd love to know what kind of lipstick Elizabeth was wearing that lasted from her originally boarding the Black Pearl, through digging into that food, drinking the wine, walking the plank and jumping overboard, guzzling rum..... ;)
:swoon:  5 thumbs up!

What's that? Colli, is that a swoon for Orli? I never thought I'd see that.:p You'll never hear the end of it now. (aside from the fact that I'm nearly swooning for him too. I guess the lasses were right.)
Arr, this movie's got way more cool stuff than I can type. :arrr:

I want to know what kind of eyeliner Jack was wearing that lasted through all that! ;)
I saw it again last night! :D Just as enjoyable as the first time. I love this movie! Captain Jack Sparrow is awesome! :notworthy
They are planning to make a sequel. :)

Yup, Kristin's right. The title was changed from just "PotC" to "PotC: The Curse of the Black Pearl" to better accomodate a sequel.

Oh, I just saw it again and the entire movie is totally :swoon:able. I am in love with both Jack Sparrow and Will Turner.

LOL, Colli, I couldn't help it, I swooned too when Orlando came out in that dandy lil' outfit at the end. Jack was so funny about it too, trying to keep Will's enormous feather out of his face, and the whole "Nice hat" comment.
Wow, I love this movie. I've seen it twice and hope to see it more!:) And I swoon for Jack more for his character and the fact that he is such an awesome pirate! He's perfect! He's up there with the Dread Pirate Roberts as my favorite now.:swoon: :notworthy
(though I admit, I've always found Johnny Depp very swoonworthy anyways....:o )
Oh by the way, I think this thread needs to be called CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow's Hutch.;) ]
Drink up, me hearties, yo ho! :arrr:

OMG, I LOVE this movie so much!!! I've only seen it three times so far...I gotta see it at least once more. Or download a pirated (ha ha) version.
Jonny Depp was absolutely BRILLIANT! He was perfect, hilarious, etc.
Orlando Bloom was wonderfully swoonworthy as always... only I didn't want to see WIll end up with that Miss. Swan chick, I wanted him to sail away with Capt. Jack Sparrow and do piratey things. :(
*sigh* alas...
Oh and I think they definitely let room for a sequel... did anyone else stay to the very end of the credits? There's this little thing at the end where the monkey takes one of the coins from the chest and skitters off....
5 thumbs up!
You oughta see a doctor about that! :p Unless you're hoping it will inspire a pirate name... Five Thumbs Murphy...?

Seen it twice, loved it both times, can't wait to see it again!
I've been singing the praises of Jack since my first viewing! After the second I dubbed him "Spastic Jack" 'cause he is.
He gets hyper and spazzes over stuff. Like the sword in the door.
Funny story. I was at McDonalds with Mum and a sister. We're chatting aboot PotC and I point to Jack's poster and go "I hope he bends over."
And he does! Yay!
Anyone notice that I get spastic talking aboot Jack? I seriously love him.
I think he's the one I've been waiting for. ;) Forget HP, forget LotR (Gasp! BF dissing ANYTHING book-related? It's true!), PotC is it. I wil love this movie for every and always.
I've never had a favorite movie or a favorite character before. Is this what it feels like, then, mates?
Jack = :swoon: :swoon: His entrance, so aristocratic. So what if the ship's sinking? He's still too cool to be seen with you! :D
Johnny = :notworthy :notworthy He had some pretty philophical lines in the movie and I loved that they didn't interfer with the action or the plot, or make the movie suck (Not that it ever could.)
Will = :jawdrop: :swoon: I wasn't impressed until I saw the movie, then I swooned and swooned. But he's just not Jack..
Orli = :notworthy What a shocker! I wasn't expecting hotness from mr. Bloom! He's wasn't that great as Leggie in LotR (IMO), but he blew me outta the water in PotC!
My favorite Jack lines?
"STOP BLOWING HOLES IN MY SHIP!"
and
"But it's such a pretty boat... ship."
PotC, two hundred and five thumbs up.
(Captain) "Spastic" Jack Sparrow, infinity thumbs. Lots and lots, yup.
I'm sorry. I'll stop rambling now...

Oh Din, there was nothing wrong with the character Elizabeth!!!
I rather liked her.
Who would think up parlea* when their about to be killed by a pirate, and she knew her pirate's code. And she destroyed the rum!;)
FIVE Stars for the character Elizabeth!!!!

I just thought of another beautiful moment from the movie I just had to log on and write about. This totally got me from the first viewing: When Jack puts his arm are Elizabeth, and his lies his hand on her shoulder one finger at a time. Both totally classic and smooth.

07-26-2003, 12:27 PM
Interesting that he's still sauve under the influence of Rum.
Good ole' captain Jack Sparrow
Elizabeth really wasn't mean to him, remember now, she did save his skin in the beginning with the militia when he saved her from drowning.
He can save me anyday ;) even if it does mean having to wear a corset. If I were her i would have passed out and fallen over the side too  , I tend to be like that :D
Colli

LOL... you know what I noticed on my second viewing? Well, apart from Orlando's gorgeous brown eyes.
Bootstrap Bill (aka Will's daddy!) could very easily be alive. He stole gold to send to Will.... so depending on WHO he stole the gold from (whether it was directly from the chest or whether he stole it from the pirates' hoard), he might have been under the curse when they sent him to the bottom of the ocean. Ergo, he wouldn't have drowned, and in the x number of years between that and the curse being lifted in PotC, he would have been able to escape and possibly form a new life onshore someplace.
Helloooo sequel. :)
ChianaWeasley
07-27-2003, 12:05 AM
We tried to figure out why Will and elizabeth weren't cursed.
I figured;
a). Elizabeth has no connection of pirate blood
b). She had no greedy intention when she took the coin
a). Will never stole it, it was given to him
b). Was not part of Barbosa's crew who stole the gold
Colli
07-27-2003, 12:11 AM
That made me wonder the first time, Chiana.
But if you listen carefully, when Barbosa is telling her about the curse, he says one had to take the gold directly from the chest. So stealing the gold from someone who stole the gold doesn't count, thankfully. :)

Sadly I can't rib her for it for I too have fallen under the influence of Will Turner. Okay, not very much, but a little teensy-weensy bit. :o
But he is nothing compared to CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow!:D
One question though: What was Jack originally planning on doing? Was he going to let them actually kill Will? As far as he knew, Will would've had to die in order for Jack to be able to kill Barbossa.
I thought Elizabeth was pretty cool. From the previews I thought they'd go overboard making this 90's woman (meaning annoyingly assertive and flaunting of then-standards), but fortunately she was much cooler than that and almost redeemed the uber-cheesy corset joke.

Yes we decreed that the worst line ever. Though it would be funny at another time. I know they must of sucked to wear. I'd always dress in boy's clothes then :D
She had a good character
And his eyes...did you notice when he had the clay dust all over his face in the beginning he has very mobile eyebrow expressions. :swoon:
