I love Sirius, but Gary Oldman is just not *my* Sirius.

i have absolutely no idea! though, he's in character, so i'm presuming, they are sirius' tattoos *nods* his hair certainly isn't as black as i'd have liked to see it, but other than that, perfect sirius in my opinion!!!

I find that to be a very good interpretation of sirius black. Im very happy with it. he's more what I'd pictured for sirius rather then the illustartions you always see

It's the eerie yet fatherly figure I imagined.

Personally, I always hoped that Viggo Mortensen would play Sirius. I mean, heck, we've got him playing Aragorn, the oh-so-sexy man, who can't he Sirius, the oh-so-sexy godfather?

I guess he looks all right, besides the hair, but I really can't see Siri with tatoos.

I think that Gary Oldman will do a good job as Sirius Black even though I haven't siriously met him.

the glasses are oldman's own... the two girls were visiting the set. the tatoos are perfect! and although i would have thought his hair would be longer and darker, i think oldman will make a great sirius, and how can you say he needs to be more like snape? he's sirius! not snape!! gah!....

Warner Bros. has asked TLC to take down the picture, which they have done. Honestly, though, I don't think Warner Bros. has legal grounds to demand that the picture be taken down because it's not a copyright violation or anything. Anyway, TLC made it sound like a polite request rather than a demand or threat. Interesting ...

And apparently it was because Warner Bros. wanted to determine how Sirius was "revealed" -- I'd say they've already lost the race for first impressions.

That's NOT my Sirius... I've been waiting for a picture of Oldman as Sirius for months... And he looks wrong... He looks like a hippie! he should have his hands up with the peace sign... Eugh...

Rupert looks great though, he was always good as Ron. Is it perverted if I swoon? Oh wait... he looks like my ex... :eek: It's the hair.... :o

So anxious about this film...Favourite book of all time... Favourite characters... And one of them looks wrong...

It looks like they're in the middle of filming the Shrieking Shack scenes. That may not be his movie hair, either. Rickman's not wearing his wig. But if it is, it'll probably be much darker on film than out in the sun.

I really want to know what's up with the tattoos. You'd think if he had them JK would have mentioned them (you know, how they always mention tattoos with escaped prisoners). Unless it's to differentiate the movie and the book. I'm not complaining, just wondering.:)

Lol, FleurD! That's what I was thinking :D

Calm down everyone... No one can say that this is how he'll look in the movie... Here's why:

1) Pictures from the set like this are never final. For all we know, these girls are just visitors to the set and wanted a picture. Heck, Oldman could have been in the middle of his makeup.

2) Post production always plays a part.

3) Most of the scenes Black is in, he's covered in shadows, so we probably won't even notice his hair color.

You guys worry too much ;)

i dont really think that is sirius either, he's not how i imagined him to be anyway. hopefully it is just a bad picture.

I thought he was meant to be taller than snape, they are going to have to give gary oldman some really high heels or something !

I'd rather have viggo as sirius as well i mean we always get told how handsome sirius is meant to be ;)

Ooh, I don't like that. But, yes, I have to agree with someone a few comments in front of me. It is just a normal picture and probably Sirius will end up looking barely like that. I think they will have to make him appear taller and of course, scratch the glasses.

Warner Brothers should have kept Gary Oldman from wandering around in costume if they were so intent on keeping what Sirius looks like under wraps. Oh well, they do have the right though. Oldman will be under a contract that will have something saying about not revealing too much about his character or the plot too soon.

I still think it should have been Johnny Depp or Viggo Mortensen. Ah well, I've vowed I will wait until I see the first official studio still before I pass judgement on Gary Oldman. Ya gotta pity the guy, so few of us have confidence in him.

He still has it better than David Thewlis though.

Viggo or Johnny could not pay Remus or Sirius as they are both Non-british Isles. JKR stipulated that all actors must be from the britsh isles (Engand, Scotland, wales and Ireland)

I think it's the girly side-part and the glasses thats really ruining the effect, I agree with the hippy comment stated earlier, but then again i remember the first pics of Miranda as Eowyn that we saw and i thought those were VERY MUCH less than impressive and i was in the end BLOWN AWAY by Miranda,
so i will reserve judgement.

I like it. He reminds me of my off-the-beaten track uncle (my dad's baby brother who was overtaken by 1968 in his third year at university, which prompted him to hitch hike to India and to disappear for two years or so. Then he turned up again, just to do a hitch-hiking tour across Africa a year later :D )


Anyway - to me that is a good look for Harry's beloved godfather. :)




Concerning the pictures: I am keeping up with rthe New Pictures thread over in CoE Movie discussion and I should say that there the mods would have asked us to take down the picture. This strikes me as a typical case of what we call 'crebain' over there....

It's not what I pictured really either. Sirius is supposed to thinner and all that. There was a guy at my school who looked exactly like I think Sirius should look. However, I think Gary Oldman is a very talented man and he'll pull it off.
