View Full Version : Toon Appreciation Month

Okay, this has been an ongoing discussion in Ravenclaw House for a while. What we've come up with (Rc for the timing, she's the bains of the operation) is one month dedicated to the toons that keep us entertained in our time of need.
What we ask is for everyone who frequents the Cauldron to change their avatar to that of their favorite cartoon for the month of August. Doesn't matter if it's new or old. It'd also be great for a change it title too, but that's up to you ;)
If this goes well, I hope that we can do this every year :)

Ahhhh! Cartoons rock! Especially the old sentimental ones (ok, not all of them are old):
Animaniacs (my favorite)
David the Gnome
Tale Spin
Duck Tales
Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers
Smurfs
Recess
The Weekenders
Rugrats
Darkwing Duck (when there's trouble just call d dubba ya)
Daria
Eureka's Castle
THE ELEPHANT SHOW!! (skidda marinky dinky dink, skidda marinky doo! I LOVE YOU)
Bonkers
Tiny Toon Adventures
I'll work on the avatar, Cedric. Awesome idea. :)
AHHH read the Ravenclaw house thread and I have to add
Muppet Babies
The Muppet Show
Muppets Tonight (ok, that was a show for adults too!)
Fraggle Rock
Angry Beavers
Johnny Quest
edit: and
Samurai Pizza Cats
Gummi Bears

Ooh, hey, nice idea! :)
Now I just have to figure out which cartoon I want for my avatar: I like too many of them! :) Hmm, well, I'll see how I go: could be fun!
Samurai Jack is a pretty cool show, Ced: excellent choice! :)

Oh yes, I loved the Elephant Show too, Colli! Hehe! And Tail Spin, I'd forgotten that... Oh oh! And Darkwing Duck! HAHA!
Haha, watched old Nickolodeon (sp?) shows from '92 yesterday... Ah, Clarissa Explains it All... before she was Sabrina...
That's not a cartoon, reminiscing, I apologize. But there were cartoons, like old OLD Rugrats shows, and Grim Fairy Tales! Ha! That was so cool...
But I also think this is a great idea (if I do say so myself :D).

i do like a bit of x-men. specifically Cable but he isnt in the new x-men evolution cartoon, and in the old x-men cartoons he was kinda... weird looking. but never mind.
i like my samurai jack, a bit of justice league, a sprinkling of powerpuff girls, a large helping of batman of the future and generally anything connected to comics. excep the old Hulk cartoons, which consisted solely of banner turning into hulk, general ross mounting a hunt for him, chucking a cage on him and then betty calming him down enough to turn back into banner again. every single episode.
and the old spiderman cartoon had 30-episode stories which were rather hard to follow at times...
ok, retro cartoons, lets think...
CAPTAIN CAVEMAN AND THE TEEN ANGELS!!! no just kidding i cant stand that show. i liked animaniacs (if that counts as retro) but pinky and the brain irritated the **** out of me. johnny bravo was alright too.
i never used to pay much attention to Rugrats, except one day it happened to be on and i started watching, and it was one where the red haired kid was getting curious as to why he didnt have a mother and his dad showed him a box full of stuff his mum had done for the kid in hospital and poems she'd written so he could know her after her death and it was incredibly sweet and tear-jerking.
i'm surprised nobody's mentioned animated movies here, i think my current favourite is Lilo and Stitch. its rather like harry potter in that a kid can watch it and like it, and an adult can watch it and enjoy it just as much but in different ways, as there are things in it that kids wouldn't pay attention to but an adult would find amusing or important. its very clever like that.
something just occured to me - does anybody aside from Disney make animated feature films anymore? i dont ever remember watching one made by anyone other than Disney.
speaking of which, does anyone know if they've got any further with making the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy film yet?

ooo.....cartoons!!!
I always loved a good cartoon and the list goes on, but things have changed so much nowadays. Well as a child I enjoyed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Masters of The Universe, and the occassional smurfs.
Then as I grew older and nickelodean came out I enjoyed classics such as The rugrats, AH!! REal Monsters, Rocko's modern Life, and Doug.
Then i lost sight of any good programming and started watching cartoon network when that came out I began to watch Two Stupid Dogs, Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Quest,Xmen, the list goes on.
Then i grew older and learned the joys of action anime! Like Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, New Xmen and such. Well a new turning point for me, and gladly Cartoon Network carried them all.
So I say cheers to cartoon network!

Aren't you guys gonna change your avatars already? It's not for long ;)
What kinda bugs me is sometimes there's a new show being aired on CN in latenight, but it never gets past that one episode. Now, some of these are good, and some are really bad. One of the bad ones was "the venture twins" (they've showed the same episode of this twice). One of the good ones was "Saddle rash". There was also this one show, don't remeber the name, but it was about these jewish kids, never got past the first episode, but I think it should have.
Oh, and Monica, you can go here (http://www.countingdown.com/movies/1281/news) for up-to-date news on the movie.

Kay, I changed mine... I have a few different ones, so I may chop and change a bit over the next few months. :D
Ooh, I love Space Ghost Coast to Coast! :) Though I don't understand why they just keep replaying the same episodes here over and over when I know there are plenty that they haven't shown. I was considering getting Space Ghost for my avatar, but I kinda decided that was too popular a choice, though I have him on my university profile. :D
Plus, how could I go past the Ed boys?! They constantly entertain me, and have some rather neat theme music in my humble opinion! With a combination like that, how can you go wrong? ;) :D

Hehehehe! Ed Edd and Eddy. What a cute show.'
I used to LOVE Animanicacs! I watched them every day. So, of course, I love your avatar, Colli! I remember way back when Animaniacs was a NEW show!
Hey, what about Tiny Toons? Buster and Babs Bunny (no relation.)
I remember the Samuri Pizza Cats! Hahaha! That reminds me of another cat superhero show: Anyone here ever watch SWAT Cats? Haha, I liked that show too....
I just found another video tape with old cartoons-- Inspector Gaget, Ninja Turtles, and Madeline.
I watched Rescue Rangers on the plane from Chicago (you know, on the Disney Chanel.) I'd forgotten about Chip and Dale in that...
Ah, those were the days, no?
Me and my friend went through all my stuff looking for Pogs (if you remember that fad, my brother was really into it and I felt like finding them and playing with them.) But instead, we found old Beanie Babies, Care Bear toys, Ninja Turtle action figures, barbies, Marble Works, SPLAT! (I love that game! Milton Bradley... you make clay bugs and squish 'em!), Pound Puppies (wasn't that a cartoon too?), and something called "Poppies." They're cool... they look like little monstors with a pouch on their back, and you roll them up and they fit in the pouch like a little ball... oh, never mind.
We also found some My Little Ponies. And a Furby. Gosh, those things are annoying.
Do you know what else? I really liked the commercials in 1992. Hehe, they had commercials for Elmer's Glue then. And they had a Ninja Turtles Mini Golf course! Do you think I could get that on eBay?
I'm feeling nostalgic again.

Oh my gosh... I had like 500 pogs! They were the coolest... I don't think I ever knew what they were really for... but I had like fifteen to twenty different colored tubes FULL of them... plus like ten big flipper things.
I loved My Little Pony almost as much as I loved Barbie. I had it all. I never got into Furbies but... I think my friends had them. What about like water babies? Or those weird babies that you pulled out of a bag to detemine of it was a boy or a girl... and like one in twenty had a coupon to send in for its twin... sound familiar?

Hey, I *loved* Scooby Doo. It was on TV recently and I watched an episode, and it's just so classic. I mean, can you get a character like Shaggy anywhere else? :D
All right, here's some of what I remember:
Smurfs
Care Bears
My Little Pony
Rainbow Brite
Heathcliff
Captain Planet, yes...though I made fun of it more than anything.
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers
Duck Tales
Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles
Scooby Doo
Animaniacs
And I do remember Pogs, though I was slightly too old to collect them.... does anyone remember slap bracelets?

"Poppies." They're cool... they look like little monstors with a pouch on their back, and you roll them up and they fit in the pouch like a little ball... oh, never mind.
I know exactly what you're talking about...and they were called Popples, I had about 3 of them! I'm so glad someone else remembers!
OT question: Does anyone remember those stuffed animals that were half one animal and half another? I don't rememebr what they were actually called but mine was named Bumblelion. (Half bumblebee, half lion...)
Okay, back to cartoons... :D

Actually, it's not OT. Wuzzles was a short-lived cartoon show. I had Butterbear. (Still do, actually) Can't remember any of the others though. One was half seal, half moose, I think.

And I'm surprised no one's mentioned Pinky and the Brain. that show rocks!:D

Yes! Arghhf! That was on today! I hate Scooby Doo and his bloody cousin... what's his name... scrappy doo? All they do is scream and run away from stupid things... "and if it wasn't for those pesky kids!!!" then what was the whole point in doing it if the outcome of the cartoon was going to be the same every episode...
I don't know where... But recently, I remember reading, or watching... but this person said, that Scooby Doo was the best thing in American literature, because the main characters Scooby and Shaggy were cowardly! And not brave, like in every other story... I didn't say this before you trout me! Just, as Charlotte York would say, exchanging information!
you cant blame me for pogs. i'm sure someone had them before me. right?
no... I remember, we were about eight or seven, sitting by those picnic tables by the sundial under the willow (ooh! we had a willow... it didn't hit us though... they've cornered it off now, d'know!) anyway.. and you brought in this pack of things - pogs. You said they were from America. you took it in your pride, years after that you introduced them to school ;)
I think they were called Smashers... something like that...
Ravenclaw
08-08-2003, 05:35 AM
They were called kini slammers. And I have exactly fourteen of them, including one with my brother's picture on it when he was thirteen (he won some tournament at Kings Dominion in DC). I found them yesterday, they're fun to play with. Remember that strange beaver mascot they had?
And you're right, Drizella, they were Popples. I read the tag on the back wrong lol.
PINKIE AND THE BRAIN! I LOVE THOSE TWO!
Does anyone here remember a show called Gummi Bears or something... had something to do with these bears who helped this royal family somewhere...
Me and my friend were talking and we think that Nickleodeon needs to bring back a lot of its old shows. Did someone here mention Rocko's Modern Life? That show scared me (don't ask why.) But for some reason, shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark didn't scare me...
I think Scoobie Doo's alright. Except Fred, Daphne and Velma don't have as much character definition as Shaggy and Scoobie except one's the leader, one's your typical teenage fashion queen, and one's your typical nerd-who-knows-everything. But beyond that, what are they? That's why everything that tries to define them from the original-- the Scoobie Doo Movie, A Pup Named Scoobie Doo, and other variations of the cartoon all succeed in giving Fred, Daphne and Velma a character, but neither is exactly the same. Don't make me go into it... But other than that, I think Scoobie Doo is a clasic.
And since we're on the topic of classics, what about the Jetsons, the Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Snagglepuss, Top Cat (a personal fav :)), and other beloved Hanna-Barbera characters? I love Hanna-Barbera! I just watched Yogi's Treasure Hunt. :D!

This could be said of pretty much any cartoon of the era (and probably most American cartoons, still). Never stopped me from wanting to see how Wile E. Coyote was going to screw up in his attempts to catch the Road Runner, though. :D
I don't think I can bring myself to change the good ol' Moxie Man, but if I did as suggested, I'd probably use either the Coyote... or Starscream from the Transformers. ;)

That's the whole point Moxie, you change it back at the end of the month :)
That's true, to a point. Most cartoons today have one plot, they change around the characters and situation, and you've got a new show. But I agree with Fleur, I never liked Scooby either. In my opinion, if an animal is going to talk, you should be able to understand them! And where's the logic behind every word starting with an R?

But that's boring, there's no suspense, or cliff hangers for the next episode. It's just boring if you know what's going to happen anyway, hence why I haven't finished reading RotK, as I was told what happens in the end. It just takes the fun away...
lol Ced! :D Exactly, what is the point of getting a dog to talk when he does go Rooby rooby roo!? Scrappy-do talked normally! and he was bloody annpying "Puppy power!" or something like that... Shaggy sounded like he was on drugs all the time anyway...

Scooby's All-Star Laff-a-Lympics, if I'm not mistaken - the characters were in three teams, two of "good guys" (captained by Scooby-Doo and Yogi Bear) and the "Really Rottens" who generally tried to cheat in every event, and almost always wound up in last place by the end of the show - though I recall that the Rottens actually won once (probably after the animators heard people grumbling about how cartoon plots were too predictable ;)) and 'net research reveals two episodes ending in Rotten victories. It couldn't have been on very late at night, given sibling and I were allowed to watch it... but I'm sure reruns can pop up at any time, especially now that it's OK for adults to watch cartoons without using their kids as an excuse ;)

Lol, I had a dream last night that I was playing Zelda, only I was IN the game, see... it was the one for Super Nintendo, too, which made it extra weird and everything was flat... and the GUMMI BEARS were there! And they were trying to help me but kept messing up. It was funny and strange at the same time....
Thought y'all should know.
I'm surprised no one here has mentioned Dexter's Laboratory! Hehe, that show kicks!
And does anyone remember a show a few years ago called AAAHH! Real Monsters! Heh, I liked that show too.
And Scrooge McDuck all the way.

I did like Dexter, still do. But it's funny how much they've changed about it. They've changed the style, the voice of Dexter, almost everything. But I do still like it.
I remember AAAHH! Real Monsters, they showed that on "you pick live" too. I feel so lucky to be able to watch these shows still :D (well, not at this time of year)

Ah, I love Dexter's Lab: very cool show! If you keep your eyes peeled in the next few months, my avatar may very well change to everyone's favourite boy genius. ;)
I always liked Aaahh Real Monsters too... I have a drinking straw of Ickus and one of the Gromble as well, from Pizza Hut I think. :D
EDIT:
Oh yeah, nearly forgot.. I've seen Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, and the Scooby/Shaggy episode. Is it just the programming here, or is there really only about 3 or 4 episodes of that show, cos that's all they show here. My fave bit with that episode was the end when Scrappy got swooped on and carried off, muhahaha! ;)

Never seen Invader Zim, seen things for it in stores, but thats all.
I was stricken without wqords, when two of my friends from band told me they didn't know who He-man was!!! Here's the scene:
Chiana: The only action figures worth playing with that I had were the Toxic Avenger, and He-man.
Christine: He-man?
Chiana: You dont know whoHe-man is?!
Christine:....no

Even though I know who He-man is, I wouldn't expect anyone else in the entire world my age to know. I mean, in my opinion, it's a terrible show. I was watching something about the 70s or 80s on VH1 and they were saying how the old He-man was the gayest cartoon on T.V., which, from what they showed of it, was true :D
I realized something the other day: The only good action/more adult shows, that aren't comedies, are all anime. That kinda bothers me because it makes me think that Americans can't think of good action cartoons. I got thinking this because I was watching some of the new anime shows that are on adult swim really late at night. One of 'em was "FLCL" (or as I like to think of it, the weirdest cartoon I've ever seen in my whole life), and "Blue gender". I don't really like either of them, they're just sooooooo weird....

nah he-man's cool but its just a bit camp when shoved up against batman or something.... hang on, batman's pretty camp too....
its just the way of the superhero show. they're fun and enjoyable and usually pretty good and very enjoyable, just they look a bit, i dunno, "retro" comapred to newer things like samurai jack and stuff.
if you want a really gay cartoon you should watch super friends... i love it but it has a serious case of the creators were probably on something when they came up with it, and then when they came down they decided half of it was too non-child-friendly and overcompensated.

Oh! I used to watch Super Friends, you know what else is good? The Fantastic Four, I really got into that show! I am always addicted to the really cheesy 60 shows.
And the only peeves I have with cartoons are these:
a). the super chick with the invisible jet, wasn't it wonder woman..or was it the girl from fantastic four...anywho how did she find the thing to fly it?!?!
b). Scooby Doo, couldn't stand that mutt. But I was always into Thelma. I wanted Freddy and Thelma to end up snogging in a closet in a haunted mansion. She's so brainy:D
And never fear! I still love He-man!

I watched He-Man... I always thought it was weird, though.
I used to watch Super Friends. I have one on my old tapes... then I realized it was lame and decided I should tape over it... but dang, those cool commercials from '96!
I always liked Spiderman myself... my perfered Superhero. I always followed the story... And Felicia Hardy was my favorite character. I liked her better than Mary Jane.

Yeah, it was wonder woman. I always thought she was just a reason to have a female super hero, I mean those powers just SUCK. That is sooo true Monica. Every time I watch that show I keep thinking why in the world Lex would wear a pruple costume.....

Ok, it's about time I posted in this thread....
For starters, He-man the cartoon from what I remember wasn't all that great. I really liked the Masters of the Universe movie though. :)
Bobbie's World is awesome!!!! We used to watch it every morning. I have the theme song stuck in my head now! :D That and "Fish don't stink! Under water the fish don't stink!!" Don't ask me how I remember that....
I was never crazy about Doug, but the Beets were frickin' awesome! "I need more allowance! Yodelaaheewhoo!!"
I loved the Rugrats! Even the old episodes that they showed five hundred thousand times.
Scooby Doo was always pretty annoying, but there's this episode of Johnny Bravo where he meets them.... it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
The only cartoon I ever watch nowadays is Ed, Edd, and Eddy...*laughs to herself* "Jawbreaker, double d!!" :D

read DK2. in that batman (aided by some teenagers, The Flash and some clever devices) beats the !!!! out of superman and leaves him for dead in the batcave.
the whole point of superman is that his one true failing is that he has emotions and too big a sense of justice, which was the reason batman had to pretty much kill him in the aforementioned book. except lex luthor couldn't make superman fall in love with him so they made up a silly physical failing too to make it a bit more interesting.
its like with batman, he's got no superpowers except his money and his madness, a combination of which he uses to get things done usually far more effectivley than his peers with superhuman capabilities.
wonder woman... she's the amazon princess who's left her homeland and her sisters to be a role model for the american youth, no man aided in her creation, no man controls her and no man is ever allowed back to her home (its the law on her island). and she has no weapons aside from a lasoo that forces those in its hold to tell the truth, and a pair of wristbands that act like shields. and i think she can see her own invisible jet, just other people cant.
of all the older DC heroes i think Oracle and The Flash are pretty cool, all the rest are a bit iffy.

I love Adult Swim, but I agree, I don't always GET all the anime shows, though I've watched some of them the last few weeks and am starting to get into them. :)
Man, everyone is so down on Scooby Doo: I have no problem with it unless Scrappy is in it! The new series they made is kinda good, I think! it's all modernised and they have different clothes, and they poke some sly fun at Scooby Doo of days gone by every now and then, which is fun! :)

Thought that last one applied to all of them ;) last time I checked (with the exception of Shadowcat, who was only supposed to be 13 or so at the time; I expect she's all grown up - and out - by now. Either they all have more mutations than even the X-ers admit to, padded bras are a mandatory part of all superheroine/villainess costumes, or someone's running quite profitable plastic surgery businesses in the various comic book-verses. :o)
P.S. If we want to get really encyclopedic, I can consult with friends who play comic-based RPGs. Their rulebooks have pretty comprehensive superbeing listings.

hey i was just making a point... and those were just the ones i remembered off the top of my head... i've got a whole rooms worth of comics here with at least one female super-being in each...
oracle's in a wheelchair, black canary is about 15, karolina and nico are both seventeen, sephie is about 14, domino and jessica jones are both quite old, husk is 17 and shadowcat is now at uni (dunno about "out", i mean, she's openly jewish, but nothing i've read indicates she's gay... thats sunfire and northstar you're thinking of)
and yes they arent particularly remarkable in the breast department. and there are plenty more like them.
emma frost not being one of them. her current solo title is only being sold because the cover art is basically porn, and the phoenix manga comic... well, the less said about that the better, but seriously, how are these chicks supposed to fight crime in a backless strapless bra and a thong?
thats why i like domino, she dresses for the job. Husk is actually butt naked when she's using her powers, its just the way she is. but her powers involve turning her body into various substances like stone, rubber, steel, etc, but she cant transform her clothes too. and mystique is always naked, her clothes are just an extension of her body (which is possibly why she's been in that white wraparound jobbie with skulls on it pretty much since the sixties))

First of all... Felicia is my fav. Spiderman lady (as said before) cuz I like her... what's it called... sass... Hehe. And she's not all good-good.
Also, if you want to include the Black Cat, you should include female 'heroines' such as Cat Woman (a classic ;)). And what about Bat Girl (Barbara sommat...).
Lastly, in the X-Men MOVIE they said Rogue's name was Marie... I dunno, but thought I'd say that.

Yeah, I remember in the old days when I use to collect X-men cards (some comics, I was more into cards) Rogue was nameless. I think I remember something about them letting her name out, not sure. I actually have the entire "Rogue" comic series (which is about five issues :D), might check those later on. Rogue was always my favorite character... Donno why.....
Here, I'll give ya some more females in case you still feel that there aren't any out there:
Bloody mary
Calypso
Chakra
Coldheart
Female Symbiote
Hardshell
Necturne
Shriek
Stunner
Silver Sable
Those are all from the Spider-man universe, by the way.

Batgirl became Oracle when the Joker paralysed her (see top of my list)
Catwoman was neither bad nor good really, i loved her all the same but i didnt think she needed to be included, and my list was titled "currently active super-ladies - meaning chicks currently active in comics, which obviously wouldn't really include catwoman because she's dead. (i've also not included the marvel ultimate universe cause for one i dont read it and all the characters are pretty much the same anyway)
from what i can tell, the X-Men movies take place in a reality seperate from the comics (like the cartoon x-men evolution), and it just so happens that the rogue in the movie was fifteen years old and named Marie, wheras the one in the marvel comics main universe hasn't publicly released her name yet.
when you take a closer look its obvious the movies dont take place in the primary reality of the marvel universe for the following reasons:
the primary universe Mystique has not undergone the change that made her skin take on a scales-like appearance.
the primary universe Wolverine is not Hugh Jackman's height
the primary universe Storm is six and a half feet tall and doesnt have an american accent
the primary universe Jean Grey took on the Phoenix force as a result of her nearly dying on a spacecraft after saving her team-mates when it buckled, not as a result of parting the waters to help the x-jet take off.
their ages are very different to the comic universe ones
the primary universe sabretooth isnt a dumb growling thing in a fur coat.
i enjoyed the films immensely but its best to treat them as a different entity to the comics or you're bound to get incredibly confused.

I didn't mean "out" that way :o (didn't she have some brief puppy-love thing going with a boy way back...? [I think he was also a mutant, and the relationship ended when he was killed, but I'm not sure on this.]) I was referring to the likelihood that an adult Shadowcat would likely be drawn rather... buxom, like most other fully grown super-females in comic books.
Of course, she's also been "out" as a Chicago Cubs (US baseball team) fan for as long as she's worn that little Star of David necklace - admitting to rooting for the Cubs, now that takes guts. ;)

nah, shadowcat's being drawn as a pretty normal twenty-ish year old (or at least she was in her own title, god knows what they've done to her in New X-Men)
oh come on ced, comics are fun! there's always stuff to talk about with them and those of us who know what we're talking about can feel all smug and elite next to those who dont have a clue who or what we're talking about (:p Chiana)
spose its kind of off topic though... although nobody with mod powers over this forum seems to mind too much!
back on cartoons, d'ya think there'll be a harry potter cartoon to continue their adventures (or the adventures of other hogwarts students) when the books are all finished and everyone's either dead or idolised?

Cedric

Okay, I guess we can keep talking about it, but only if we still talk about normal cartoons now and then :)
The thing about comics is that the artists change with time. No two artists are going to draw the same character the same way twice, which means that if a character is suppose to be one age, a certain artist might see it differently and draw them another way, giving the illusion of older/younger age. I never really cared about age or "physical development", just didn't see a point in worrying about that kinda stuff. The only thing I really notice is when they change the race of a character, like they did with Kingpin in DareDevil, which carried over to the new Spider-man cartoon on MTV. I'm not racist or anything, but changing something that big is just really weird.
-Cedric
Little Miss
08-24-2003, 06:40 PM
hahahaha the kingpin thing was funny.
the latest issue of daredevil is the final fight between him and the kingpin, and each two fight frames is drawn by a different guest artist - its a weird idea but the effect is very good, both kingpin and daredevil are drawn different in each picture, as they have been portrayed over the years of the comic. utterly breathtaking.
speaking of the MTV spiderman cartoon, is it any good? i'm toying with the idea of downloading it cause it'll be ages till its on tv over here... but i wont bother if its rubbish.
EDIT: Ravenclaw lol its ok, not everyone is quite as devoid of a life as myself to know the ins and outs of the comic world...
and here's a great way of deciding if something is good or not:
take a key word out of the title of the thing you want to know is good or not, and say:
"I have a [insert key word here] in my pants"
so if you're deciding whether to watch, i dunno, Samurai Jack or Super friends, you just say, in sucession:
"I have a samurai in my pants"
and
"i have a super friend in my pants"
and whichever sounds best is the one you watch.
it works for other stuff too, give it a go!

I think it's pretty good, it's cel-shaded, so that's different, but it is good. I'm not sure you'll be able to download it yet though, it's still pretty new. One interesting thing about it is how they depict different things, like they have Electro in one of the first episodes and he looks totally different from how he did in the comics.

my current favourite comics are all Crossgen titles, but i do enjoy a bit of marvel, DC, vertigo, image and avatar now and again.
lets see...
"i have an electro in my pants"
that works, i'll be trying to downlod that episode at least!!!
the whole cel-shading thing started with Jet Set Radio (or Jet Grind Radio, whatever) and its been done to death since then... but its new to the cartoon world... could be interesting.
Jet Set Radio is one of the best games EVER (second only to space chanel 5)
you cant tell i'm a bitter dreamcast user, can you?

Games? Now there's my current forte. But that's way too off topic.
You know, I was just watching Secret Squirel. D'you know that cartoon?

I remember Secret Squirrel pretty well, wasn't it on with another show? Like they were mixed?
One of the best classic shows has to be UnderDog. I remember watching that show all the time.... That was so long ago.....

Oh I couldn't stand UnderDog....maybe it had something to do with the big U on his chest....:p
I really liked Two stupid dogs, they play it sometimes though very rarely

Ahhhhhhhhh.... Toon appreciation month is coming to a close, so I thought I'd get this out of the way now so I don't have to rush later.
As planned, this month was the one and only for the greatest appreciation of toons. So I wanna know, do you guys want me to leave this thread around, or should I close up shop as soon as the month ends?

Well, if we're going to have a new theme for September, you might as well close it. We close the Yule Ball every year!

That's true... But I'm not sure I'll be able to come up with something else. Might be weird if we have something every month.
I'll try to think of something.

It's your thread, and your decision... Aw, so sad. Oh well, there's always next year.
You know one cartoon I like? Roger Rabbit.

Okay, we're done here. Could I get a mod to close up shop, please?
Thanks.
