this kind of ties in with the active users census:
on browsing the main forum index i noticed the thing at the bottom saying "most useres ever online..." and i got thinking...
how many people do we have who actually post, and does it beat the record of most users ever online?
if Yes , proceed to setting a date and time over several time zones where we can all come on and try and beat it.
if No, i think maybe we should try and do somehing about it. if it is established we dont have as many members anymore, i think we should all go out recruiting for new posters.
(and by recruiting i mean recruiting people who'll actually stick around and post relevant stuff after the big day rather than just registering for it)

What, you mean like something at the bottom that says who has spent the more time, in one shot, on the site? Or the person who's been a member of the site the longest? I donno if this kind of board can support that sort of thing... But it is an interesting idea. We could even have a contest...

not quite.
look at the forum index, its got who's online, today's birthdays and the status of your private messages all at the bottom (underneath the other interests forum) in quite small writing.
its also got a thing that says "Most users ever online was 59 on 07-15-2003 at 11:39 PM" and i was wondering if anyone was interested in trying to beat the record?

I wonder if anyone (Reba? Melk?) knows the real all time records for this site and CoE. I know CoE's record was set on or shortly after 9-11-01 :( with everyone checking in to make sure everyone else was OK - if that record ever is broken I hope it's under much happier circumstances.

Ooooooooooohhhh..... Okay, that sounds like fun, but I don't think we have that many members anymore.
But it's worth a try.

thats why i said maybe we'll need to go out recruiting...
how about you actually read posts before replying eh? :p ;)

I'd rather not... It's a lot more fun to keep the conversation going :D
I think that recruiting just for that purpose is kinda pointless. People aren't our toys ;)

They could be our toys ;)
Ah why not? Got nothing better to do!

well it wouldn't entirely be for our own purposes, it would be nice to have a couple more people on to add more depth to our discussions and conspiracy theories and stuff, and its something to aim towards...
i dunno, was just an idea...

I'm always out recruiting people for this site.
Actually my mom's friend at work was interested in the site when it was mentioned by my mom.
So she may come into our boards soon, unless she already has and I missed her posts.
Whenever I meet someone whose really into Harry Potter I recommend this site :D
Im such a cheesy kiss butt

I voted - In theory it could work but i dont like newbies.
Mwahahahahahaha!!!
This forum sure doesn't have many people. One forum I visit, where people pay $10 US for the privilege of posting, has had upwards of 2500 at one time on.

I occasionally mention this site and CoE to friends of the geek persuasion ;) but most of them, even the ones who've read and appreciated Tolkien and Rowling, prefer to spend their time online shooting at each other in one game or another. The one friend who is into these sorts of boards has an HP site of her own that she keeps trying to recruit me to (but it's mainly a 'Virtual Hogwarts' roleplay populated mostly by her similar-aged friends from school. No place for an old $%@# like me, really.)

Let me just say that the record is probably not accurate anyway. I was on at the time supposedly 58 other people were, and I looked at "Who's Online" and I saw a few other registered users and probably 50 guests -- and about 30 of those were "viewing a member profile." I think there was probably a glitch somewhere because why would so many people randomly come here at the same time and then decide to view a member profile?
I try to recruit new people here. I don't understand why this place isn't more popular. The formatting is definitely much better than other HP boards I've seen.

The only time i remember soo many people being on was right before the OoTP release and a bit afterwards. Closer to when everyone finished the book, and we got loads of new members.
