LEAVING THE TRAIN
BY LUTHIENELENTARI
Some might have said that the day was full of warmth and joy. But for Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley it was a cold dark day full of the worst kind of sadness. The kind of sadness where you wonder if there is a reason to get up in the morning. Hermione and Ron were saying good-bye to each other. Harry Potter was somewhere spying for the darkest wizard of all time. This fact didn't enourage Hermione and Rons mood. " Are you sure you want to leave Hermione," The seventeen year old Ron added to Hermione. " Ron I can't handle the fact that Harry might be dead and that Percy died and..." she didn't need to finnish her sentance Ron probably knew what she would have said, " I just can't stay here anymore". For a moment Ron and Hermione just stood there on that fall day both wondering if this was really the end of their friendship. Ron seemed to have lost all the pinkness in his face over the last few mounths,he now looked like a pale lifeless person. They both looked at each other as if trying to remember each others faces before they both went separate paths. Hermione's hair blowed quietly in the wind as she quietly said " I'll miss you Ron, I'll write everyday I promise". She heard the whistle of the train and gave Ron a sweet kiss on his cheek as she saw the train head for her. He didn't do anything but stare at his shoes until Hermione was about to board the train. " I'll miss you Hermione I really will," he looked up at her and waved a hand at her. She waved back quietly and sat down on the nearest seat. For the first time in along time Hermione slid a silent tear.
( don't worry I'm not going to have Hermione brake his heart there will be more I just have to design some costumes for a play)

Ron sat in the fire lit common room with his chess board, Harry silently sat across from him. His dark green eyes were focused on his twitching, anxious peices. Ron loved this, really enjoyed beating harry, but of course he had to rub it in a bit first. Harry's voice was unsteady as he order his bishop. His eyes were on ron, watching for a reaction. Ron meerly grin and sat back in his chair.
Harry nervously licked his lower lip, "...check."
"Wicked move mate!" Ron cheered, he sat up and leaned over to speak to his queen. He didn't even have to ponder on his move, Harry groaned. "But, unfortunately not good enough. Queen to G4" He laughed as Harry put his head in his hands. "And i believe that would put you in checkmate."
Harry nodded miserably. "Just once I would like to beat you Ron, just once."
"That'll be the day Peeves listens to professor McGonagoll!"
Harry made a face, and began putting his wounded peices back into the box.
"Fancy another game?" Ron asked smartly.
"Oh, can it will you?" Harry mumbled, his red headed friend nearly chuckled.
"Alright, but when Hermione gets back she'll be pushing her new house elf campaign and if we look busy...." his voice trailed off, Harry's hand hovered over the box.
"Well, perhaps ONE more game can't hurt!" he smiled enthusiastically, setting his peices back on the board.
"Honestly Harry!" sighed a voice from behind Ron. He could feel his ears turning a light red, why did she always have to be there right then?!
"Hi Hermione," Harry greeted, once agin putting his peices away. She stomped across the common room floor and dropped her bag by the leg of the table.
"You got an Ogre in there?!" Ron asked her, she rolled her eyes at him and turned to Harry. Her hair was frizzy as usual, peices tucked forgotten behind her ears. Her sleeve were rolled up and unbuttoned, and her tie hung loosely about her neck.
"D'you get it?" Harry asked in a whisper, for a moment she looked as if she didn't know what he was talking about.
"Got what? ....oh! Yes of course, and mind you Harry I got quite a few looks for carrying that! Thankfully Draco doesn't know where the library is." She dug quickly through her bag, and pulled out a leatherbound book and sat it on his lap. "There you are."
Harry quickly tried to cover the book's title with his hand, though Ron had caught a glimpse of the words 'Love-.
"Blimey Harry!" he laughed, as he leaped across the board and grabbed for the book.
"Ron! Dont!" Harry protested, attempting to put it behind his back. Ron meerly put Harry in a head lock, and tried for the book.
"Geroff me'!" Ron grabbed the book and ripped it from Harry's hands, Harry leaped after him onto the sitting chair. They wrestled for it.
"Ahha! Love potions eh?" Ron read, then looked at Harry with a look to say 'thought I'd never find out did you?'.

Chiana nice story! keep writing
heres more of mine.
The train ride was long. In years to come Hermione would say that the train ride took forever. Most of the time she would think quietly to herself a tear would fall down evey once in a while. In Hermione's heart she knew the real reason why she was leaving. In the end Hermione knew that she was going to leave after what happened in December. It was so cold on the Hogwarts grounds that no one dared to even go outside. Hermione and Ron had been sitting in the common room talking and were sipping coffee quietly. After the second hour of talking to each other Hermione let her homework slip out of her lap on purpose. Harry was out trimming the Forbidden Forests trees becuase he got in a fight with Snape again. Why won't that boy control his temper Hermione heard Snape say one day after class. So without Harry, Ron and Hermione could spend quality time together. " Ron it's late and Harry's not back yet he was supposed to be back twenty minutes ago, do you think we should check on him" Hermione tried to keep her voice calm but a growing fear kept pushing in her throat. Ron gave a dissapointed look. Hermione knew that Ron hated it when Hermione would babble on about how " she thinks he's in danger". But this time Hermione was sure that something was wrong. " He's ok Herms it's not like you-know-whos out there. And anyway Percy's out there to make sure nothing goes wrong". They stared at each other for a couple of minutes until they both relized what that meant. " Hermione," Ron asked desparately.
"What?'
" Lets get Harry's cloak out just to make sure"
" Just what I was thinking Ron"
Ron rushed to the boy's dormintory to get Harry's cloak while Hermione waited on the couch.Harry didn't like it when they used his cloak without permission, but this was an emergency. Who knew what Percy was up to. Over the summer holidays Percy only sent quick notes like
-Brothers hope alls well. Lots of work - Percy They even reported that Percy was missing from work for over a month. Over the last couple of years Percy had become more and more obsessed with work then usual. When Ron returned they quickly slipped the cloak over themselves and quickly walked out of the door. They were so rushed Hermione didn't even notice that Ron had two of Harry's socks on his head.

The school was black and had the very essence of the bitter cold feeling of danger. Quietness filled the castle like the way people are quieted by a teachers hush. By the time they got to the grounds they saw nothing. Nothing but a dark figure dissolve into the shadows. They looked around the grounds desparately but found nothing. But the bitter cold that surrounded the air. The more they searched for even a hint that Harry was there the more drops of hope faded away. Hermione whispered " lumos" and led her beam of light to a broken bush that had stains of blood baring on it. Hermione gasped for breath as Ron sleepily fainted. But the worse part was that a pair of round broken glasses were laying on the cold ground.

"Ron!" Harry hissed, snatching the book quickly from ron's hands. He looked about the common room, as if everyone were easedropping on their conversation. Ron meerly grinned, his dimples blushed as he held in laughter.
"Honestly Harry, why do you have a Love-"
Before he could finish, harry clapped a hand over his mouth.
"Shh!"
Ron chuckled under his palm, and peeled Harry's hand away. He held up his hands in silent cooperation, Harry sat back down on the couch.
"But why? You can tell me, your my best mate after all...who is she?" he asked in a whisper, he didn't notice the slightly hurt look on Hermione's face. Every time Ron or Harry said they were best friends, she always felt excluded. Not only because she was the girl, but because they did not consider her as close a friend as ron or harry. She stiffly bent over and picked up a book from her satchel, and began reading the first page. She bit her lower lip to keep from looking disapointed that once again she'd felt pushed aside.
"well...it's not really......anyone....particular...." Harry tried to lie.
"Hermione," Ron began, looking to her for help at guessing who it was. "Who is she?"
Hermione put the book down on her lap, "I don't know Ron."
"Course' you do, you got the book for 'im!"
"No, I don't know," she assured him. Ron gave her a disapointed look, then turned back to Harry who was as red as ron usually became when he was embarrassed. "Alright then, don't tell me. I'll figure it out!" he assured Harry.
"Drop it will you?" Harry mumbled, Ron began playing around with his red Queen.
"Thought I just did." He grinned, then propped his feet back up on the table. Harry mumbled something under his breath about Quidditch practice, and jumped up to walk up to the boy's dormitory. "Alright then, see you later," Ron said, shaking his head. "He's got it bad, that one."
Hermione continued to read her book, keeping her eyes downcast. Ron noticed her sudden bought of silence, he raised a red eyebrow. She was upset, he could tell. He knew Hermione enough to see the tense shoulders, the bite of her lower lip, her overly steady concentration on the words on the page. Her legs were curled about underneath her, the firelight flickered beside her.
Had something gone wrong at the library? Had she run into Malfoy?
He stared at her for a moment, feeling anger well up inside his chest. Had Malfoy called her a mudblood again? He clentched up a fist, then released his tight grasp. No, she would have said something by now. It wasn't Malfoy that was upsetting her...
"Hermione?" he asked her.
"Hmm?" was her reply, her nose deep into her book. Though she really wasn't getting anywhere, 'Beetle wing laced with leeches' was what she kept reading over and over again.
"You alright?" he asked, waiting for a response.
This puzzled Hermione for a moment, she looked up from her repetitive sentance at him. Why was he asking?
"Yes, Ron, I'm fine." she assured him stiffly, coming off more briskful then she had intended to. She knew her tone gave her away.
Ron listened to the hurt in her voice. 'Had he done something to upset her?' He got up and moved over to the couch, sitting beside her.
"Liar." He decided out loud, she turned sharply to look at him.
"It's nothing...it's just...well sometimes I feel like you and Harry are such good friends....and well, that you don't consider me to be as good a friend. I dunno...I feel pushed aside....or something. Maybe i'm just over reacting...after all that's gone on since Sirius disapeared, and now that voldemort's back. I feel as if you don't consider me a best friend like you do harry, and the same with harry," she confessed, letting the book close in her lap, she looked down at it.
"Hermione," he began, putting a hand on her shoulder. "That isnt true. You and Harry, well you're my two best mates. BOTH of you. And I know Harry feels the same way." She looked up at him and smiled, feeling relieved. "Besides, who else would i argue with, and who would I beg constantly for help with homework? AND, who else saved us from the Devil's snare?" he joked, giving her a freindly squeeze about the shoulders.
Hermione grinned to herself. 'They really do appreciate me.'
She let her grin grow into a smile, she laughed at the memory of Ron panicking like a git in the plant. Even after they told him to relax so he could be set free. Now he looked down at her, his freckles standing out in the firelight. He'd always been taller then her and Harry, since first year. But now she felt as if he were towering over her, and they were sitting down. He looked down at her and returned the gesture.
"what's so funny?" he asked, automatically covering his ears. This seemed to make her laugh more.
"I just thought of you, our first year, going stark mad in the Devil's snare, even after me and Harry told you to relax," she explained still laughing as she spoke.
"As I bloody well should have! A plant had me wrapped up like my aunt Georgina at christmas!" This made Hermione, burst out into peels of laughter, making her smile infectious to ron.
'she looks pretty when she laughs...' he thought to himself. Then realized she looked even prettier when they argued.

Don't worry the snogging will some later be patient! Ooh I love your story!
At that moment Hermione felt like someone had hit her with an axe, like something had died inside. Thoughts surrounded Hermione. But she calmly told her self that first of all she was invisable and second of of Ron was laying on the ground. She decided to take care of Ron first. Hermione grabbed Ron by the shoulder and dragged him across the ground. Ron wasn't exactly fat but not incredibly skinny. It took quite awhile to get to Hagrids cabin but in ten minutes they both were both safely in the cabin.Ron was lying on Hagrids couch still asleep. While Hermione seached through her robes for a coffee package. ( She always had extras). What surprised Hermione the most was that Hagrid was gone. His hut was torn apart and apparently Hagrid had not had time to clean up the place over the last couple of weeks. On the table Hermione could see an old lesson plan from last week. " Hermione" a husky voice whispered behind her. She turned around and saw Ron half awake and half alsleep lying vulnerably on the couch."
In that exact momment Hermione could almost understand what Harry must feel like some of the time. " Does yor head hurt Ron, you took quite a fall" She sounded concerned, and Ron knew it even though he was half asleep. She turned around in her chair and looked at Ron as though he was the only thing that didn't go wrong in her life. " I'm fine I just need some coffee" he answered with a vague smile. She could tell that Ron was trying to avoid the subject of Harry. The warmth of the room was pleasent and the fact that they were both alive was comforting, but Hermione couldn't help feel like she was powerless and that everything that the Order of The Phoenix was doing was pointless. Harry was without a doubt in the possesion of the dark lord. " Ron, I can't handdle this anymore I can't....". She looked at the wall then quietly her eyes started to sparkle and then she cried in her old green jacket. Ron walked over to her side and put his hand on her thigh. " Dumbledore will find him Hermione". She lifted her head and whispered " How do we know he'll be ok he might be dead right now". He put his hand to his chin and looked like he was in deep thought then he said " Remember the time Harry was in the maze and he dissapered and everyone thought he was dead, he found a way to escape, I'm sure he'll find another way to escape"
They looked into each others eyes like trying to figure out to say when Ron lifted his head and kissed her on the lips. It took her by surprise but she could help feel like it was right. All her emotions evaporated into thin air, leaving nothing but comfort.

Ron suddenly realized that he had been silent for a moment, staring at Hermione as he thought to himself. 'knock it off, you can't think like that about...Hermione, she's....Hermione!' He cleared his throat, thankful she hadn't been looking right at him, her eyes were downcast onto the book sitting in her lap. She looked back up to met his gaze.
"Hermione, you should never have to feel left out, or unappreciated. Not ever. I care about you just as much as i care about harry, and the same with him. Do you understand? NEVER think that we don't care, that we don't appreciate you. All right?" he asked her steadily, his face was serious. His eyes were on her, deep and serious. As quickly as the mask of serious covered his face, another resurfaced. The face hermione knew so well, that Ron Weasley grin.
She looked up at him and returned that smile. "Thank you Ron," she said in a near whisper, "I know it was stupid of me to doubt, it's just been a rough time for us all."
Ron, bent his head into the crest of Hermione's soft, bushy, brown hair. His lips lightly grazed the soft tendrils, remaining there for only seconds, then pulled away. "I know 'Mione, I know..."
Hermione felt her heart give a leap as he kissed her on the head. Though she knew it was meerly an act of comfort, she still felt an excitement that reminded her of the day Viktor asked her to the Yule ball. She leaned her shoulder against his for a moment, she could not remember Ron being this comforting. Usually he fought with her, teased her, joked around with her, but never this. Her head rested for a moment.
"So...whose is the love potion for?" he asked her suddenly, she jerked her head to look up at him. He was grinning, she had to chuckle at him. Leave it to Ron to lighten up the situation.
"Sorry, I can't tell you that." she replied simply, he looked disapointed and antagonizing at the same time.
"Why?" he asked in an instistant whine.
"Simple, I don't know myself." She explained with a smirk.

" Mrs. Granger wake up! the train has stopped". She flinched and then lifted her eyes at a fat man who was poking her. " Get off me, I'm awake!" she pushed his hand away and grabbed her suit case. The train was empty except for a man was in the back seat apparently sleeping too. The rememberence seemed to have made her fall alsleep. She was about to get off the train when she relized that she had left her other suit case at the back of the train. " Mr. Bolger, I left my other suitcase in the back of the train I'll get off in just a second" she walked toward the back of the train when she saw something that made her heart leap. The man was bloody and full of filth. It looked like he hadn't changed his clothes for a quite awhile. He also had flaming red hair, and wore a red maroon sweater. "Ron! is that you, what happened Ron wake up! why are you filthy" she shook him until she saw his eyes open slightly. " Hermione is that you?"
~~~~~~~~
It seemed like eternity until Ron broke away. " This is wrong, it should have never happened". Hermione didn't know what to say. " I'm so sorry Hermione, I just got caught up in everything" Ron looked ashamed then quietly sat on the couch. She just stood there not knowing what to think tears still shimering on her cheeks. Finally she returned to the kettle and put it on the stove hoping that she didn't have to speak to Ron. In a way she was embarresed. She had never kissed a guy not even her cousin Henry. When the coffee was done she handed it to Ron and whispered " Thanks " then sat down on the chair where she eventually fell asleep.
"Why on earth would Harry, of all people, take out a love potion book from the library!?" Ron asked, in pure confusion. His nose wrinkled slightly, as he thought hard over something.
"Harry really likes whoever this girl is, and if he tried, he could win her. He is Harry after all. I wish he wouldn't use that book though..." she replied in a 'worried Hermione' tone.
"Well, Harry won't do anything stupid.....well at least, I don't think Harry will do anything stupid...."Ron attempted to assure her, though he failed miserably as he paused between words.
"We'll just have to trust him to do the right thing." Hermione decided, she watching Ron nod as she sat back against the arm of the sofa.
Meanwhile, up in the boy's dormitory, Harry sat on his bed. With the curtains drawn and the book opened up before him. He scanned the pages, looking for something particular.
"hmm....dream date potion......heartache healer......spouse spifling potion..." he read aloud as he brought his finger down the pages. Then, he found it, page 352. "The Love Quarrel Potion, that little push for the couple that should be, but aren't" Harry grinned to himself, and thought about his two friends sitting down in the common room.
"You got the book Harry?" Fred asked, as he and George came through the door into the dormitory. Harry lifted the book to show them the worn cover, they both laughed with triumph.
"Most excellent mate!" George said, sitting down on the end of Harry's bed.
"Spot on!" Fred added, as he took the book from Harry, reading the lines on the page.
"And Hermione didn't wonder?" George asked him, Harry shook his head. "Ron?" Harry just grinned and rolled his eyes.
"Ron? Figure something out? You're joking!" Fred replied for Harry.
"They'll never think in a million years-"
"Too obvious-"
"Right over their heads."
"WE'll need alot more then we thought," Harry explained, Fred meerly shrugged.
"No problem Harry, remember who you're talking to."
When Hermione woke up she felt like she had had the best sleep of her life. So relaxed, and peaceful. Although her muscles ached she seemed pretty happy for what had just happened to Harry, and everything. She stretched her arms and yawned then turned around to see to her great dissapointment an empty couch. Ron had apparnetly left. She stood up and decided to see if Ron was in the great hall eating breakfast. Ever sense the kiss Hermione seemed to feel more relaxed about everything. Even though she felt some emotional baggage. She knew that Ron was right Harry would find a way to escape. She walked up the wet grounds and stopped by the piece of wood with the glasses. She picked a rose and neatly set it down by the glasses. Even though Ron was probably right she couldn't help feel like something was wrong. A deep sigh reached her mouth and she knew that she had to leave immediantly or she'd start to cry. She slowly got up and then quickly ran up the steps to the castle. When she walked into the great hall she couldn't help feel like people were watching her every movement. Pansy wasn't sniggering about her offit like normal, instead she stared at her with her small dark eyes. As she sat down people skooted away from her. Was she like a virus that everyone stayed away from? without thinking she opened up her mouth as if she was going to speak to talk to Harry. This was too much. Being here without Ron or Harry? Pairs of eyes followed her as she left the great hall and headed up to the common room. ' Did everyone know about Harry?' ' Had Draco seen Hermione kiss Ron, and told the whole school?'. This wasn't the first time Draco had invaded on their personal buisness. Only last year Draco had caught Harry and Ginny kissing in the library. That was probably the reason. Oh how embaressing! all the Griffindor girls had talked about how they thought she was never going to get married and live her life as a professer, piling books like the way you gobble a cup of chocolate ice cream. ' Great!' Harry's gone, and the whole school knows about my personal life'. When she reached the common room no one was there except for Ron who was reading in the corner drinking a cup of coffee. A smile hit her face. At least Ron was here.
Suddenly, Hermione felt very shy. She decided that she was not going to rush things, if things were to happen they were supposed to happen. She grabbed her books which were still on the floor, and sat on the couch.
" Ron, Do you have notes on the amazing Fire- Eating Dragon?"
He turned around and smiled at her " After everythings happened and your still worried about your homework, wow! Hermione you sure now how to handle stress" . Hermione could tell that Ron too was slightly embarresed about last night, because his ears turned bright red as he looked at her .
She grinned " Actually, I don't know how to handle stress but the only way that I can put this behind me is too distract me with my work". Ron got up from his corner and handed her a cup of chocolate coffee.
" I knew you would come in eventually, I have known you for six years Hermione! your not that mysterious!". He grinned then took a seat next to Hermione.
" Thanks Ron I needed it, everything about Harry and plus Draco told the whole school about last night". She looked at Ron, who looked as much surprised as probably the whole school was.
" Hermione, the whole school does not know, Fred and George would have said something to me."
" Are you sure Ron? she looked concerend, and Ron could tell.
" Don't worry its our secret" he smiled then leaned closer to her and pressed his mouth against hers. He leaned closer to her. She held his forearm like she was holding onto her life.
Suddenly, Something hit her. She let go immediantly, and suddenly slapped him hard across his mouth. She muttered " Men, I'm just your little puppet arn't I!" then grabbed her coffee spilled most of it on Ron. And stormed out of the common room. After she'd slammed the door she sank to the floor and started to weep outside the common room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why was he here? on the train bloodied up and full of filth?
Hermione's head was spinning with posibilities, questions, and theorys. Had Ron gotten on the train while she was dreaming?
" Ron, its me Hermione! your best friend" why was this happening? her face started to go pale with worry.
"Hermione, why are you here? I thought you were at Hogwarts" he sounded delusional and yet he seemed alert.
" Ron, school ended you would know, you were there, weren't you?" what was wrong with him. She sat down on the seat next to Ron. Think Hermione, questions come later, right now my best friend is bloody and needs help, oh! wheres my wand. She grabbed her bag and searched franticly. Breath mints, money, books, wand! there we go. She grabbed her wand and said "Woundelio" with a blue flash Ron's flith and blood dissolved.
Slowly, he started to get life back in him. His features were becoming softer and he looked healthier. Finallly, he opened his eyes and looked at her straight in the eyes.
" Ron! your ok, I was so worried, why are you here? last time I saw you it was three days ago" she dropped her bag and gave him a big hug. When he let go he immediantly started to ramble on about something. The night's cold was giving her chills but Ron didn't seem to care. It was slightly creepy being in an empty train. Mr.Bolger had apparently left. Now it was just Ron and Hermione. Ron looked at Hermione in a puzzled expression. Then quickly said-
"Hermione, what happened the night I left? I was so worried, plus Harry was going mentally insane, never seen him bang his head so hard"

...It was the next full moon as Harry, Fred and George sat around the bubbling cauldron in Moaning Myrtle's lavatory.
After two weeks of exstensive searching, plundering, elf tickling, and canary cream exchanges all of the ingredients had been haplessly collected by the duo of destruction. That previous afternoon before Potions, Harry sat in the boy's dormitory paying some attention to Hedwig when the two came running into the dorm. Broad grins stamped across their faces, their hands were clasped behind their backs.
They had found it. The last ingredient. The talon of a Grey Grumblark.
"You two look rather pleased with yourselves...what have you done to Snape?" he asked them, for a few breif seconds he couldn't think of why they were there. Then he remembered Fred mentioning something about 'going on a bit of a trip into the Hog's Head on strict W.W.W. business'.
"We have it," Fred replied simply. Harry looked at them for a moment as he said this until it hit him. He jumped from the bed and stood infront of them, now his smile was as big as theirs.
What a combination! The one moment I'm gnawing at my fingers and the next I'm smiling.
I can't wait to hear the rest of BOTH your stories! Great stuff! :notworthy

That day was probably the worst day Hermione had ever imagined. Gossip was the main thing on her mind. She couldn't walk around a corridor without hearing " you see that girl, she is going crazy, usually she's miss perfect but today not a peep from her ugly mouth". No one mentioned Harry. Nor noticed his seat was empty. It seemed like life was moving on, and no one seemed to notice that the wizard that had defeated voldermort for fourteen years was gone. She felt very uncomfortable during dinner. Ron kept passing notes that scribbled
- Beauty I'm sorry for my actions. Forgive me -Ron
Not even Ron's pethectic pleas were comforting. Right now she didn't want to deal with him. So after a bit of steak and a glass of pumpkin juice she grabbed her books and headed for the library. There she spent hours puring over books, in her favorite corner. Huddled into a undiscovered place. New ideas entered her mind. She didn't know how long she was there. But when the library crowd slowly started to leave to thier usual bedtime routines she knew it must be pretty late. She finnished the last page of Poetry for a Witches Soul when she heard a hush in the back of the library. The lights went out.
" The spell will not last long, everyone will eventually figure out he's gone," she heard a deep hushed man.
This news made her senses become more awake.
" I know my lord, but its the only spell that I can think of my lord, you must forgive my lack of education" a wimpering voice called out to his "master" as he's called.
" I think I may have a spell that will wipe out Harry Potter out of every poor students mind, But I must return to my library" a slightly creepy feeling came over her as he spoke in his masculate voice. Sudden numbness held her bound to her spot.
"Come, we will return to my library" he said in a bossy tone.
" Yes, my lord"
" But, wait I have some buisness to attend to"
With aloud shrill crack he vanished, and so did the small man behind him. The lights went on again.
She was just about to think this information over when she heard Madame Price. ' I have to tell Ron everything he might help solve this matter' she said to herslef as she dashed toward the exit. Madame Price was about to say something but she stopped her by adding quickly-
"Sorry, I'll head straight to my common room, sorry"
Then with a quick dash she ran out the door. She hardly noticed that students were looking at her, or that Snape passed by hoping to take points away off. All she noticed was her sudden urge to help Harry escape from wherever he was and tell the whole school that he was missing and that they needed to save him. For with Harry dead, Voldermort when come back to full power.
When she reached the door to the common room she stood there for a couple seconds to catch her breath. Then she muttered " Chocolate Goblins" in an exaperated tone the fat lady opened her portrait with a grin on her face. But Hermione did not notice this because she was so tired of everything.She slouched to the common room when her weary eyed met something that took every last bit of oxgen in her. Her eyes met.......

Her eyes met upon Ron who was kissing another girl. They were standing there holding onto each others arms. Not noticing any of the surrounding elements or people around them. It only took a couple seconds for them to relize that they were being watched. At that moment they broke away and stared directly at Hermione. For a momment they just stared at each other. Then Ron told Pavarti to leave them alone for awhile. Parvarti took a glance at Hermione then headed toward her dormintory. Giving him a quick good night. When her foot steps faded away Hermione spoke.
" Got a girlfriend then?" she folded her arms to her chest as she stared at Ron. For the first time she saw hatred in her eyes.
He looked at the ground then stamped his foot to the ground.
" Yes, Hermione I do it's because you were being a stubben piece of filth" he clearly stated to her.
" Ron, I'm glad that I am a stubborn piece of filth because if I wasn't I'd be like Parvarti stupid and falling for you tricks that you play on me and probably every other girl at this school" she didn't feel like crying into a ball anymore. Crying always made her feel weak. The only thing she was feeling was anger.
She let go of her arms and started waving them around like an idiot as she spoke " I'm never going to be your shallow girlfriend who wants to do nothing in her life but wait hand out foot on you, cause I have a life Ron, don't you understand girls are not stuff animals that you throw away every week". Why did Ron do this? this was a personal insult to her.
He was about to speak an argurement but Hermione walked rapidly toward him and slapped him harder then before.
" I don't want to hear it ," she sternly added. Then left Ron there swearing and stamping his foot to the ground as she walked up the dormintory and slammed the door behind her.
Oh !!!!! :jawdrop:
This doesn't make sense. The bloody Ron. The one moment he's snogging Hermione and the next Parvati. Parvati of all people!!!!!! :eek:
That maniac. He's smooching while Harry is in danger! Typical male---doesn't use their minds... not their hearts for this matter! ;)

oh good, I was going to say 'Wait a minute! She forgot all about Harry!'
************************************
"Mmmph! Ughhh! Mgphhhh!"
This was the sounds escaping Hermione's lips as Milicent thrust her large, hairy fist into Hermione's stomach. Her wand lay across the hallway too far to even think of reaching for. another tall Slytherin girl was holding her from behind.
'This is what comes of walking the short cut.' Hermione thought to herself as she felt her stomach and all the air left her lungs.
No more then ten minutes earlier she had been heading to the common room to talk to Ginny. When Millicent appeared from about the corner with her comrade, apparently it was 'lets-beat-up-Gryffindors' day. Hermione had pulled out her wand to defend herself, and Millicent being millicent abandoned magic and tackled her. Now she was being held as she was beat into canary cream.
"Mmmph! Ughh! Mgphhh!"
"Come on little bookworm! Now what are you going to do without you're wand! Think you're so smart, hanging with that Potter and red headed trash! Come on fight back!" Millicent prodded stupidly, stepping back for a moment. Hermione looked up and tried to catch her breath, or at least try not to vomit.
"How can I...when she's holding...me?" she asked, though it was meant to be an innocent question but Millicent didn't take it that way.
"Now, now millicent...." an icy voice chuckled from behind hermione. She knew that tone, it made her cringe on the inside. Draco stepped up beside her and looked between the two of them, he had a wide smirk on his face. He'd only make things worse, far worse. Millicent looked taken aback, or perhaps she was just dumb and confused. "Millicent," he said more sternly, then raising his wand to show her. His eyebrow arched menacingly, millicent began to snort loudly which meant she was excited. She nodded and stepped back, Draco took her place standing before Hermione. She felt two sets of larger hands clamp around her wrists and hold her in place, Crabbe and Goyle.
Hermione wriggled hopelessly and vainly as they held her to her spot.
"Filthy mudblood."
"Know it all."
"Muggle trash."
"Memorisitos Erasidica," Malfoy whispered, a thin stream of silver arupted from the tip of his wand.
Hermione suddenly felt light, almost numb. Her vision was foggy, all she could her was a boy whsipered words into her ears. He seemed oceans away....then suddenly it was over.
She sat leaning against the pillar,feeling dazed and sore all over.
She looked around the empty corridor, her head sank, she felt like she'd been asleep.
She scrambled to her feet, picking up her bag, and her wand laying across the floor from her.
She couldn't remember anything. Breakfast...yes. Charms...yes. Potions...unfortunatley fresh in her mind. The library...she'd just left there. But why was she here now, had she come to be on the floor?In the middle of an empty corridor? She'd been heading somewhere, but to where she couldn't recall.

A famous wizard once remarked to a young man that the strongest courage comes to you in the weakest times. Over the next couple of weeks time had seemed to slow down. Hermione spent more and more hours pouring over books. Researching, spells and curses that would have impacted the school to sudden silence over Harry’s dissaperence.Though she found nothing. Ron was more open about his new girlfriend Parvarti. That was the only thing he talked about now days. His lack of remembrance of Harry suggested to her that he had had the impact of the curse, or he simply was using Parvarti as comfort over Harry’s disappearance. They spent every moment between classes giggling together, holding hands, or comfortless kisses. Her bed was empty in the night. Mostly because she got so sick of Parvarti mouthing " Hermione, what did you too talk about the other night come on Hermione I must know I'm his girlfriend" late at night whispering frantically. So, she took his cloak hostage and quietly sneak to Hagrids cabin and sleep there till six’s clock when she woke up and sneak back to her bed. Ron and Hermione didn't do much talking. Mostly because no one had much time to talk to Hermione, after all she was always in the library.Sometimes she'd stay extra long, maybe she'd stumble upon the bald man and his ' master' but he never came back. But one evening about three weeks later someone did come back. Sense Hermione had spent so much time with her studying, she didn't relize that she had three weeks of late assignments. So on a January evening she finnished all thirty-six assignments. She just about to leave to her dormintory ,when she saw two figures enter the room. She stopped in her tracks and found a pair of stairs to hide behind. The common room was dark. She assumed that these personages had been late to their dormintorys. It was after all eleven'o'clock at night. It was hard to see thier features because the bars were blocking her view.
" Ron, your ruining my image! Don't act like that around my friends you embaress me" Parvarti screamed at Ron.
In the darkness Hermione rolled her eyes. Maybe I should leave she thought. It was his business. But if she moved he'd know she was spying on him.
" I'm sorry I embarressed you will you forgive me, I'll try not to ruin your pretty image"
Love had turned Ron into something that was not like him anymore. He seemed like his unknown twin. Drama was something she knew very well by now. She didn't need anymore of this. So, she picked up her bag and was about to quietly leave when she heard something.
" Did you ever love Hermione Ron?" Parvarti asked through a series of kissing noises
Something inside her made her stay there glued to the floor.
" Parvarti why would you ever think that?" she heard Ron clearly state to her then she heard more kissing noises.
A drop of cold water slipped down her throat. Without thinking she dropped her bag to the ground without bothering to disturb Ron and his "moment". The silvery shawdows bounced upon her face as she shuddered under her breath and walked all the way to Ron's side.

and so we return to the common room.....
Ron and Harry were both sitting infront of the fireplace. Once again taking a shot at wizard's chess, conveniently in the middle of their Astronomy essays. When there came a slight ruckus from the secret entrance. They both looked up only to see Neville and Hermione enter into the common room.
"Jus' Neville..."Ron confirmed with a mumble and turned back to the board. Harry did the same. "Can't even get in the common room without knocking into-" he began, but was cut off a someone plopped down next to him. With a jolt, he accidently knocked his peices from the board. "Damnit Nev-!"
He turned to see a dazed Hermione sitting limply beside him, Neville stood next to the couch. He looked extremely worried and frazzled, his hair all messy. In a moment Harry was up out of his seat, and standing next to Neville.
"Whats the matter Hermione?" he asked protectively, he turned to Neville who was a bit pale with worry.
"I dunno Harry...found her outside the library...she was just standing there. She mumnled something about..forgetting where she was headed....Harry i think she's been cursed or something!"he explained breathily, he seemed to be in shock. Normally, someone was always around to sort out the problem. That someone was always Hermione. To Neville this seemed like the castle would break into chaos.
"He's right Harry..." Ron agreed, waving his hand infront of her face. Her eye's were glassy and unfocused, making no response.
'Hermione....Mione!" Harry practically yelled, she only let her eyes close.
"Neville go get some help! Find McGonagall!"Ron urged, the small clumsy boy nodded and headed back to the stone cut entrance way in the wall.
Harry looked uncertainly at Ron, who was looking at Hermione's face. His features bent with worry and anger. His finger traced her chin....

She was about to speak but then something told her just to keep quiet. If she said something it would be out of anger not out of common decency. So, very quietly she slipped out of view and headed for the stairs. Maybe he didn’t need to know how angry she was at him. He’d know later, when the time was right. Without another thought she went to bed.
The next day Ron seemed keener to talk to Hermione then he had in a long time. He kept asking questions about what she was up and how were her grades and a lot of other questions. By the time Defense against the Dark arts class came around Hermione realized that Parvarti and Ron had broken up. After three weeks of torture they had broken apart. Parvarti spent the whole day wit her friends, bawling most of the time in her spare time. This was annoying because every time she tried to concentrate on her work she’d hear a moan and a sniffle in the place where she slept. With Parvarti out of the picture she could tell Ron all the research and data she had collected. So at dinner time so sat directly in front of Ron who seemed slightly more cheerful then Parvarti was.
“Ron, I have some information I need to discuss with you, its very important that I talk with you after dinner in the library,” he seemed no to have heard her. Because all he did was pick at his food.
“Ron did you hear me?” she asked desperately.
“Yeah,” he moaned then without looking at her he said “See you in the library” then walked out of the room. Ok, so maybe he wasn’t as happy as he put himself to be. She picked at her mashed potatoes then read Famous Wizards Poetry Handbook: Used for lighting the soul. She checked her watch then briskly headed toward the library where they were to meet. The room was not abundant in crowd, but she did find a group huddled over Ron’s shoulder.
“Is it true that you and Parvarti split last night, Pavarti won’t tell us anything, please Ron we won’t tell Parvarti a thing.” Even though Ron had been acting like a jerk, his heart was broken after all.
“Madeline, Katie, if Parvarti’s sucked up to so many boys why is Ron different?”
They gave glances to each other then rushed out the library without another word to Ron.
She sat down then stared directly at Ron.
“Thanks Hermione,” he quietly answered.
“Don’t mention it”
Realizing that they had business to attend to she grabbed the books she had checked out of the library and handed on to Ron.
“History of Mysterious Charms” he read aloud.
She added in a quieter voice. “Ron, I have been studying books about charms over the last couple of weeks, to figure out why everyone is ignoring Harry, even Snape hasn’t mentioned his name, I think that someone put a charm on the castle that made everyone forget Harry’s existence so if Harry died no one would notice except us, it must have been placed upon the castle while we were on the grounds or in Hagrid’s cabin, the question is why do they need him and who took him”
Ron’s eyes had widened as she spoke a sudden understanding crept over him. She could tell.

"Think...you think she's okay?" Ron asked meekly, looking at Harry then back to Hermione.
"Well...she's not exactly okay Ron..."Harry began, though when he saw the look on ron's face he changed directions, "but it does only look like the after shock of a charm."
"Nothing permanant...." Ron asked to himself quietly. He put both his hands in his pockets, he did that when he was scared.
"No, not permanant Mr.Weasley," a familuar, maturnal voice spoke. Harry looked up to see Mcgonagall standing in front of the couch, Neville stood beside her looking quite winded. "Move aside please...." she asked, while leaning over to inspect the girl lying limp on the couch. "You say she was confused mr. Longbottom..." she asked looking up at the boy, he nodded. She pulled her wand from her sleeve, "This is an after effect....nothing to get overly upset about. Miss Granger may have cast a spell that backfired....". She raised her wand and murmured a few words.
"Back fire?! Hermione?!" Ron asked with a cheap laugh, Harry grinned to himself. He has relieved Hermione was alright after all.
McGonagall lowered her wand and lifted Hermione's chin with her hand. "Miss Granger....." she asked, as Hermione began to open her eyes. She jerked up as if she had been caught snoozing during class.
"Sorry professor, didn't mean to fal asleep...." she started, she clamped her mouth shut when she realized she wasn't in class.
"Miss Granger, did you cast a spell outside the library?" she asked, standing straight again. Hermione looked from Neville to Harry then to ron.
"No professor."

“So, you’re telling me that someone put a spell on the castle to erase Harry out of everyone’s mind?”
“Exactly, I think that if we spent a good amount of time studying in the Library or in the common room we might be able to save Harry” she answered clearly.
“It makes sense with Parvarti forgetting Harry’s name when I mentioned it to her, plus
Dumbledore would have said something by now” he shrugged then looked at Hermione for a long time until he picked up his book and began flipping through it.
For the next hour they explained thoughts and ideas to each other. Possible spells was the main thing they discussed. Hermione realized that with Parvarti gone he was much kinder and a more decent person in general. Finally at nine o’ clock they got kicked out by the librarian. As she walked from the library she felt accomplished and that she had had a good day.

Suddenly, she’s at Hogwarts with Ron then she’s here on the train with Ron. Her eye sight was pretty poor but she could see that Ron had fallen asleep on her knees. Something was odd. Why did she always wake up from a memory? Did someone implant them in her head? Was Ron ok? She tried to sit up but was pretty difficult. With some effort she managed to sit up. She turned to Ron who looked frozen. She held his hand which was icy. Hermione decided to think through this logically before she did anything. But before a single explanation came through her head a warm hand grabbed her shoulder from behind. Her hands become frozen to the seat. A shiver came down her spine.
“Hermione?”
The voice was strangely familiar. A voice she couldn’t quite place. She remained in the same position. Until very slowly she turned her head to look upon something that gave her breath away without asking for it, she stood up hesitantly and then stared at Harry.

Hermione sat with Harry in the common room that very same night on their couch before the fire. She hadn't lost her memory as they had feared, but she couldn't remember what had happened by the library.
"Did you finish your Astronomy chart for homework Harry?"she asked him in an off manner. He shook his head.
"Hermione, we didn't have an assignment for Astronomy class."
"No, I know, I was just hoping maybe thats why I was at the library...." she sighed hopefully, she gave him a weak smile. Her clapped her on the shoulder.
"Don't worry Hermione, maybe Neville accidentally hit you while practicing a spell," he offered.
"No, thats not what happened....oh! I wish I could remember!"she groaned frustratedly at herself and slumped down against the cushion.
"Do you remember seeing Malfoy anywhere around you?" he asked her, she shook her head and closed her eyes to think. "Perhaps....you should go to Trelawny...."
Hermione sat up straight and looked at him, shocked at what he had said. "You must be joking!That old fraud!I'd rather never know then go to her for help!"
"Hermione, I...I don't think she's a fraud really, well not a fraud fraud. But she did professize Voldemort's return..."
"Your not seriously suggesting that mad woman are you
Harry?!" Ron asked as he came and sat down with them. His arms full of foods from the kitchens. He plopped down on the couch next to Hermione, who cringed a bit and moved closer to Harry. Ron hadn't noticed, though Harry did.
"Are you alright?" he asked her, she nodded and closed her eyes as if the firelit upset her eyes. She stood up and murmered something over her breath, and walked towards the stairwell. Her arms crossed over her chest.
"What I ay'"Ron asked goofily, a pastry sticking out of his mouth. Harry watched Hermione go up the stairs and disapear.
"Nothing...."Harry mumbled, he knew something wasn't quite right.

Hermione's body climbed the stairs, her legs somehow carrying her. Her mind was elsewhere, a blank haze, as if a memory was trying to push through to her. For all she knew she had stopped walking, but she hadn't, her legs still carried her towards the girl's dormitory.
She stood infront of the library doors, all she could feel was an immense amount of pain in her abdomen. Suddenly she was running.....running towards the stairs....perhaps it was because someone was chasing her? Yes, yes, someone was chasing her. She knew she was scared, her heart beating rapidly, and her eyes darted about for a quick escape. She ran until she had reached the top of the stairs...without thinking she looked behind her to see her persuer. A blur of red hair. RED HAIR.
Hermione opened her eyes to find she was crying, as she held her stomach that now ached. She climbed onto her bed and pulled the curtains around her bed, and sat there. She pulled up the tail of her white shirt, she looked down to see harsh purplish-blue-green bruises.....

The next morning Ginny and Hermione sat in the great hall eating toast and eggs, pouring over their work for potions.
Ginny watched Hermione as she looked over her parchment, ignoring the food on her plate. Which was what Hermione always did, but that was not what bothered Ginny. Hermione was upset about something, she had been put off ever since she had been found by Neville outside the library.
And when Hermione read her books, all you could hear was the turning of pages. Hermione hadn't finished the pages she was on for the past twenty minutes. Something was bothering her.
"Hermione..."Ginny began. Hermione looked up quickly from her book, as if she had been startled, she waited for ginny to speak.
"Whats the matter? You've been acting strange all morning..."
"I know...it's...it's just...."
"Hermione what is it?" she asked, the look on Hermione's face made her worries double. She hurried over to Hermione's side and sat down next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. The hall was still empty yet, but they still whispered.
"I think..."she trailed off, biting her lip she looked away.
"What?!"Ginny pressed. Hermione turned slightly and pulled up her shirt, showing the marks to her friend. Ginny gasped, and looked at Hermione with a look of shock and confusion. She quickly tucked her shirt away and pulled her robes around her tighter. "How....who?!" Ginny demanded angrilly.
"I don't know...I can't remember anything..."Hermione explained.
"Have you told anyone? Have you told Harry or Ron?!"her friend asked, Hermione shook her head.
"I can only remember a few things...."
"Like what?"
Hermione turned to face her best friend's little sister, her hair blazing red. A family trade mark, now it made Hermione shudder on the inside.
"Ron..." she replied weakly

CHAPTER TWO: THE TRUTH HURTS
Hermione gazed at Harry with unbelief. She had been waiting for this the whole year. Ron was supposed to be here. He was supposed to be here to see his best friend. A diamond shimmered in her eye. I can’t cry she told herself. Without warning a tear trickled down her cheek. He was back! Then she ran toward him and wrapped his arms around her.
“Hermione, There’s something that I need to tell you,” he added deeply, he sounded almost like he was afraid to tell her something. A shadow lurkedin his words.
“What?” she added croakily
____________________________________________
Over the next couple of months things were rather basic and plain. Parvarti had sucked in another victim. It was Dean Thomas this time. He too was abducted by her charm. As for are heroine she still had not recovered from Harry’s disappearance. Although the months did pass by not one emotion changed within her, she often had dreams of running from something, and then she’d follow a dark personage through a forest full of shadows. She couldn’t explain it. The dream was even to complex for her mind to solve. Ron and Hermione had been trying desperately to search for spells, curses, anything that would suggest a remembering charm. Ron helped to but his studying was not very helpful he always seemed preoccupied with something. Something that had haunted her sense the day she told him her explanation over his disappearance. Everything was dull and unbearable until one fortunate afternoon Hermione ran into someone she did not intend and no, it wasn’t a cart full of chocolate. It was that point of day when everything makes no sense and all you want to do is find the fattest food you can find and scarf it down, without worrying that it will go straight to your hips. All the teachers at Hogwarts had had an urge to sign as much homework as a human can possibly stand. The kind of homework that you tell your teacher it blew up even though in your heart you know that it was just too hard. Hermione Granger had infact hit her head on a gargoyle statue. Everything was blurry, she couldn't tell a charm from a curse, all knowledge was sucked away. She fell to the floor. As a dark personage grabbed her arms and carried her away.

Everyone remarked to Hermione that she had the sharpest memory. Her memory was like a book. It was very reliable. But there was one event that she didn’t recall. After her unfortunate accident she was carried away to a place that only you could find Hermione in: the train. Although she didn’t know it at the time it would be the same train where she would end up in the end. The man placed her on a seat. It was the same seat where she would eventually meet up with Ron in the future. When Hermione did wake up, she felt dizzy and slightly weak. Her muscles ached with pain. Her eyes darted to a man sitting in the corner reading. He seemed intent on the words. His face was filthy, and he had a very strong odor. The night air whipped across his forehead and revealed a red scar. She knew his face. But she couldn’t place it in her mind. Then suddenly it hit her.
“Harry?” She felt so weak it was almost unbearable. Her words were clear, but they clearly suggested that she was in immense pain.
His emerald eyes lightened up at his name. But he did not speak. He looked even more intent to his book then before.
I know this is confusing but it'll make sense:D

"What?!" Ginny gasped, dropping her goblet of pumpkin juice all over the table cloth. She looked confused, angry, and unbelieveing all at the same time. The red from her roots began to spread across her face. Hermione feared she was about to strike her for saying such a thing, but she did not.
"Are you sure?" she asked through clentched teeth. Hermione felt tears well up as she nodded. She wished she were lying, but her memory from the day before was becoming more and more vivid in her mind. "Why?" Ginny asked sternly, she face paling slighty as she realized Hermione was in silent tears. She placed her hand on Hermione's shoulder, who vainly wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"I don't know, i can't remember why...or even how, but-" she began, but the words died quickly on her lips as she spotted ron and Harry coming into the hall. Ginny followed her gaze to the door.
"I think we better talk to harry first," she decided quickly, as they approached the table. She forced herself to smile as the two boys came to sat down. Hermione sat next to her quickly collecting up her boks, hiding herself behind them all.
"Morning Hermione....morning ginny," Ron greeted casually as he sat down. Hermione shot up from her seat and headed for the the hall, Harry watched her go. He turned back to look at ginny, he knew something was wrong. Ron on the other hand, shrugged and began to fill his plate.
"She's probably got loads of research to do on that House elf Front of hers," he assumed not looking up from his food as he contimplated pouring melted butter or maple syrup on his waffles first.
Ginny felt as if she'd had the wind knocked out of her. Not her own brother. Not ron. It couldn't be true...Hermione could not possibly have lie, why would she do that? But ron, of all people, had he really? She snapped out of her trance long enough to realize Harry was watching her. The pumpkin juice was still on the table cloth, two plate untouched where she and Hermione had sat.
His green eyes bore into her, then flicked to Ron and back to her.
He knew something was the matter. Harry always knew.

"Ginny I need to talk to you," Harry said, after quickly finishing a few pancakes and some bacon. Hastily he grabbed his bag and left the table. "See you at Charms Ron," he said heading for the doors. Ginny tried not to catch anyones attention by jumping up from the table as if she'd been shocked. She calmly, or so she thought, stood up and took her bag. Following Harry out into the hall. She turned out into the hall in time to see Harry's robe float around the corner, quickly she broke into a run after him.
~~~~~~~~~
Harry walked quickly down the next corridor, knowing instinctively that ginny would follow him. He desperately needed to talk with her, but it had to be someplace private.
He'd seen both their reactions as the came into the main hall. The look of fear on hermione's face the moment she saw Ron. Ginny's upset, worried, wide eyed stare as he sat down across from her. Watching her watch Hermione rush out in a blur of pages and books.
Some was seriously wrong. He'd sensed it the night before, when Hermione flinched at Ron's presence. Something had upset her...something outside of the library...something she said she couldn't remember...
Harry turned a sharp corner and pushed open a thick wooden door with a sign saying out of use and disapeared inside.
He enter the bathroom as if it were the common room, all too comfortable to him. He dropped his bag and waited for ginny to come. Of course he didn't have to wait long, she burst in a moment after. Her face flushed from crying, or perhaps she'd run after him, he couldn't tell. She dropped her things and sat down hard on the floor, putting her forehead in the palm of her hand.
"What's going on Ginny?" he asked, not missing a beat. He sat down next to her and moved her arm aside, she looked up at him. She had been close to tears, her eyes shiny, her lashes soaked and threatening to spill tears. "Ginny, what's happened?!"
"It's....it's ron....hermione..." she croaked as if in utter disbelief of what she was thinking of saying. "Harry, Ron attacked Hermione outside the library yesturday!"
He froze for a moment confused, "No."
"She's got bruises all over her, she's starting to remember things. Ron chased her down a corridor and...and he...." she trailed off, she didn't seem to believe herself.
"No, ginny. Ron was with me all yesterday."Harry repeated. "Ron didn't hurt Hermione. He would never hurt Hermione." he assured her, Ginny nodded, collecting herself.
"I know! But...why would Hermione lie?"
"Maybe she thought it was Ron, it was someone else, it wasn't ron Ginny."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hermione sat in the back of the library, behind a pile of thick leather bound books. Her head was spinning as more of the day before came swimming back to her, so hard and so fast she nearly lost consciousness.
"I shall obey thee, Dark lord..."
her own voice, she remembered forming the owrds in her mouth. Those oily words that made her sick.
"Bring him to me..."
"I shall my lord, I shall not fail you...."
She words made her sick, she remembered it all, so fast.
What had she done?

Exciting! Wow you story is amazing I loooove it! I'd love to finnish your story! I also like the fact that you have set up the ginny/harry relationship also in your story and not just the ron/ hermione one. I must say I was shocked to hear about the ron/not ron thing. You are very clever! I would have never suspected it! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!! I have never read a story with this plot line!
Heres more of mine!

This person couldn’t be Harry. Harry would have ran toward her and made comments about the way she looked. He would reach out to her and start babbling on about how Snape needs to see a therapist with all his issues. This couldn’t be the person she had been trying to save for over a month? This wasn’t Harry. All her thoughts made her weary. Slowly her eyes drifted off without her knowledge. The only thing that she could recall was a deep voice muttering a spell on to her, which made her insides tickle. Then she felt a soft kiss on her cheek and heard the deep voice mutter something. Something that she wouldn’t recognize until she would meet him again.
______________________________
Even though Hermione didn’t remember this event, she did have a feeling that she was missing something important. When Hermione finally did wake up, she found herself in the same place where she had hit her head. Her head felt like an explosion, and she found that she couldn’t concentrate on anything too complicated. So, after potions she went to the hospital wing where a nurse started to curse the statues on the wall. With a quick teaspoon of a headache removal medicine she fell asleep on one of the hospital beds. While she was sleeping something happened in her brain that would change her life forever. A dream came to her, that was so real she could feel it and see it. She was on the same train that Harry had taken her on. Her body was on the ground frozen as ice. Her pink face was a bitter color of white.

Ron sat alone in the great hall, slowly realizing that something was amiss. Not that his bacon had become cold and his plate untouched, but that everyone had left at once leaving him there alone.
He knew something was wrong, he wasn't an idiot. The only problem was that he didn't know what to do. This wasn't exactly chess, mvoes could not be taken back whenever he'd messed up.
He saw the way Hermione had flinched when she'd seen him, and it hurt. But he knew she wasn't herself, it wasn't Hermione who flinched. Well....perhaps it was...but a confused Hermione who had been through something she could not remember.
Ron pushed away his plate and stood up, absently wiping away the toast crumbs left on his lap. He walked across the now crowded breakfast hall, in the corner of his eye he saw Malfoy looking more malicious then usual. Though he didn't stop to investigate, he kept on towards the hall archway leading to the staircase.
*******************************************
"Then...then who...?!" Ginny asked to herself, a tear slippeddown her cheek. "There are bruises....."
"Then we have to find hermione, talk to her. Someone hurt her, we have to find out who. But they also put a charm on her, a memory charm." He pulled Ginny closer by the shoulders, trying to make her feel better.
"Memory charms..." she thought to herself, trailing off. Suddenly her face lit up, and she pulled him by the hand back towards the staircase. "Memory charms Harry!" she cried as if an epiphany had graced her.
Harry couldn't help but smile despite the current circumstances.
She pulled him up the stairs, letting his hand go and running ahead of him. He loved the way he red hair fluttered and glimmered in the pale hall light.

Lov'in it! so far :o
Heres a wee bit more
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A cloud in her mind shifted toward her eyes, she saw pure blackness now, and then very slowly her eyes awakened. Ron was at her knee, still frozen, like the last time she remembered him. The train was darker then before. Her body warmed up slowly as she regained consciousness. Harry was leaning over her, his eyes lightened as he saw her awake.
“Are you done dreaming?” he added with a slight grin across his face.
A weak smile met her face, Ron was still at her knees, she remembered that the last time she was here, Harry was just about to tell her something important. A streak of curiosity came over her, not feeling very weak anymore she sat up then asked,
“Harry, I don’t understand what’s happening, one minute I’m here then the next minute I’m trapped in a dreaming state that seems so real, and the dreams are about what happened last year, the year you disappeared, but it can’t all be true because in one of my dreams I was with you on this train, that definitely didn’t happen last year, and Harry why are you here? Where were you?”
Harry sat up too and looked at her. Wondering, if it was time to tell her the truth, he wanted to but he knew it would hurt.
another wee bit more
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harry sat up too and looked at her. Wondering, if it was time to tell her the truth, he wanted to but he knew it would hurt. A shadow of memories reached his mind. He had a pained expression on his face, very quietly he replied-
“Mrs. Granger please wake up this is very important! Oh, wake up!” a flushed Madame Pomfry cried urgently to Hermione, who was sleeping peacefully in the warm bed What’s more important then a good rest? Hermione quietly thought to herself. A warm hand touched her shoulder, which made her rather irritated. With a slight jump she sat up and looked at Ron who was sitting on the side of her bed. He looked clammy and pale, the warm sunshine shined upon his flaming red hair. She felt slightly embarrassed, Ron couldn’t see her when she wasn’t properly dressed, and didn’t have any witty comments to whip out when she needed them. Hesitantly she asked-
“Ron what’s the matter? You have huge bags under your eyes, did you not sleep well?” she asked worried.
“All leave you alone” Madame Pomfry added warmly with a weak smile, she placed a glass of water on the table then attended to the other students.
She stared at Ron, his expression she couldn’t read. Ron spoke before she could reason anything out.
“Last night my mum and dad received an owl, that said Percy had been attacked at a nearby pub, he didn’t survive the attack”

Harry raced beside ginny as she ran towards the library doors, wiping her wand out she shouted an incantation to send them crashing open. Absently, she tucked it back into her robes as she slowed to a halt before the study tables lined up in between the cases upon cases of books.
She looked quickly about, scanning the first few rows.
"Hermione..."she whispered, anxiously she scurried out of the library witches view and hurried down the walk between book cases. She turned the corner, then reapeared quickly enough to grab harry by the hand to rush him a bit more.
"Ginny-"he began to ask, breathlessly, until he himself turned the corner and saw Hermione sitting by the frosted window. A book perched absently infront of her. Her chin was pointed down as if she were busy, but he could tell she wasn't reading. Ginny ran up beside her and sat down on the bench next to her.
"Hermione!" she gasped excitedly, pulling the book out from infront of her bushy haired friend. Hermione looked up at her, then wearily at Harry. She'd been crying, around her eyes were puffy and red. A corner of her mouth was bent downward, a sign that she worried over something. But then again Hermione always worried for everyone else and times ten. "Hermione, what do you know about memory charms?!" she asked exasperatedly. "Have you read many books on just memory charms?"
Hermione slowly nodded, "Of course...but why would you need..."
"Just trust me, find us all the books on memory charms, we're going to find out what curse you have on you. And how to reverse it o you'll remember everything, as well as who did it to you!"
"Well, we already have an idea of who that was," Harry snorted sarcastically, he watched Hermione's face brighten at the idea of gaining back her old memory of the day before. She nodded and stood up, automatically heading for the section ginny sought. Leave it to Hermione to know the library better than her own home back in England.
Ginny patiently followed, and waited as Hermione scanned the book spines, pulling out a large brown volume marked in runic lettering. She craddled it in her arms and walked over to the bench, dropping it down and letting it's pages spill open.
"We just learned about erasure memories, professor flitwick told me all about them. Is there anything there?" she asked, as Hermione leafed through the index with her finger. "Well?!"
Hermione's finger stopped on erasure charms.........1145.
"Excellent!" Ginny squeaked excitedly, "Hermione you do know why I'm asking you to look this up don't you?"
"Ginny, I've lost my memory not my sense," Hermione assured her as she flipped to the correct page.
"Ron didn't hurt you at all, someone made you think he did! It makes sense, doesn't it?!" she questioned, as if maybe Hermione would doubt her theory.
"I hope so Ginny...."Harry echoed from behind the red headed girl who peeked at the page Hermione scanned carefully. In a moment her finger rested on the words Memorisitos Erasidica.
"I think this is it...." she murmered, slidding it over the table top so Harry and Ginny could read what was written on the parchment.
"Worth a try. Here Harry why don't you do it, I don't want to mess up and make things worse..." she confessed, ripping the reversal spell out and handing it to Harry. Much to Hermione's appaul. Harry took the ripped parchment and carefully read over the words, mouthing them cautiously to himself.
"Alright....." he raised his wand and pointed it at Hermione, "memorium cantorium....forbellium se menthium....restorunius le momoriesa.....". He hoped he'd said it right.

Her eyes darted toward his pained eyes, a single tear slid down her cheek. Although Percy had always been known for his pompous behavior and was deeply hated by most of his brothers, Percy still had done nothing with his life. Most of the year she wished he was dead after all he had attempted to diminish the society of wizards and witches that wish to protect their kids education. Yes, Percy was quite disturbed and was disliked by all but still he could have had another chance couldn’t he? Doesn’t everyone deserve a second chance? She didn’t know why she was crying but then again Hermione had been very emotional over the last couple of months. Maybe she wasn’t crying because of Percy death maybe it was something else. Something she couldn’t quite trigger.

Time seemed to not exist in her mind. Nothing made sense. All she knew was that her heart was thumping rapidly; Harry had always been the one to save the day, not her. This wasn’t the time to analyze this she had to hide from him, she had to save Ron. Her head spun with a whirl of shapes, bushes, trees, and a large train was glowing from the distance. Ron, he was on the train. Must not repeat, must not repeat what happened, must save Ron was the ongoing thought in her head. She was running with are the strength she could receive. The cold wind whipped through her hair making it run free behind her. She saw a shadow by the train doors. A wand was held in their hand, it was pointing at her, waiting for Hermione to come.

Hermione was heading toward the funeral for Percy. The train was creaking along as Hermione thought things over. Ron was sitting by her, glancing at his Chudley Cannon quidditch cards quietly. Fred in George were whispering to each to each other laughing every once in a while. Ginny was silent, a tear falling down every once in a while. Hermione didn’t know why she was crying she hated him the most. The funeral was more of a pity funeral then a mourning funeral. Sure people were sad, but it wasn’t depressing. Thinking was something Hermione didn’t want to do right now. Trying to distract herself she tried to start conversation with Ron.
“You think your mums going to be ok?” she asked concernedly turning to face Ron.
He stopped fiddling with the cards and stared up at her. For a moment she thought she wasn’t staring at Ron. His eyes were different this wasn’t the same Ron could it?
“Mum? Yeah she’s going to be alright a few nights at the pub and she’ll be fine he added with a grin.
The moment he looked at her she felt something inside that made her shiver. He was always the same wasn’t he? It was her who couldn’t move on. The way his eyes were shaped, the way his ears turned red when he was embarrassed was something she admired about his features. A sudden thought crept in the depths of her mind was it possible that she might like Ron more then a friend? She was the one who had kissed Ron back at Hagrid’s cabin? She always felt safe around him. Although he was a jerk most of the time she couldn’t help feel something tugging inside of her when she saw him.

Hermione stood infront of Harry, her eyes a bit hazy. The spell had worked, hopefully, it was the spell they were searching for.
"Hermione...." Ginny asked in a whisper, putting a small freckled hand on her shoulder. A hopeful look gleamed in the corner of her eye as Hermione turned to face her. "Did...did it work..."
Hermione closed her eyes, searching her memories, her real memories. She placed her hand upon an ugly bruise that made her ache, how had she gotten it? She waited for a moment, her head fuzzy, she concentrated to clear through it.
"I....I remember......Ron and Harry....when neville brought me to the common room after he found me. I remember feeling afraid of Ron.....but....but I shouldn't have.....shouldn't have been afraid." She bit on her lower lip, sucking in her breath.
Harry watched his friend try desperately to scrounge inside her head for the truth. As he watched her, he noticed a familuar red headed figure come up and stand behind her. Ron waited, his face dark yet hopeful. He leaned against the bookcase, not letting his presence be known, yet.
"I remember something different....the hall....Millicent and....Crabbe...goyle.....Malfoy...." she trailed off, suddenly her face lightened up. She smiled, her eyes were still shut tightly, though a tear still escaped and rolled down her cheek. "Oh Harry...I remember....Millicent beat me up....Crabbe and goyle...they held me back. And Draco...."
Ron stepped forward at the mentioning of his name, his face reddening with anger.
"Draco...he put the memory charm on me! Harry!" her eyes burst open, as if it had suddenly hit her head on. "Ron didn't....he would never!... It was Draco and the others....Draco put a spell on me, so millicent wouldn't be blamed! Ron, didn't hurt me! I knew that he couldn't...Ginny! He must be so angry with me! I thought he had, he thinks I would believe something so atrocious!But I knew deep down....oh he must be furious with me.."she gasped, wiping the next tear from her cheek. She laughed weakly, glad to have back her true recollection of everything back, yet wounded at hurting Ron. Harry knew the two emotions battled, he saw it in her tears.
Hermione was over joyed. Over joyed to remember the truth! To know ron hadn't touched her in anger, that he never would. It had all been a mirage in her mind, now blown clear by the counter charm. But what about ron....'Oh no....I've hurt him so badly....I have to go fin-'. Her thoughts were interrupted by the touch of a familiar hand on her shoulder, and the breath of someone tall caressing the top of her head.
"Hermione..." Ron began. Hermione didn't want him to finish, she spun around to face him. He looked down at her, a smile on his face. He wiped a tear away from her cheek, letting his thumb trail down under her chin.
"Ron, oh I'm so sorry for ever thinking you could-" she blurted outquickly, but he cut her off.
"I know. If it had happened to me, I would trust my memories...I would never trust a friend who I remembered hitting me." He assured her of this, he dropped his hand and put it on her other shoulder. She smiled back up at him, her chin quivered as if she was holding back an emotional sob.
"Oh ron, I'm sorry!" she burst out, angry with herself. He shook his head and pulled her into a deep hug, wrapping his arms comfortingly around her. She did the same, putting her head on his chest. He could feel a hot tear soak through his shirt, he then leaned down to speak into her ear.
"Never would I harm someone I care about, I promise you."

_____________________________________-
After the funeral for Percy, Hermione headed up to her room for a bit of quiet. The Weasly family had convinced Dumbledore that “Ron and Hermione simply had to come to the funeral” even though Percy was a murderer. Family was family. Sense the family couldn’t afford to have the funeral in a “proper” location they traveled all the way to an unknown region in England. Who knew why they had to travel so far to his funeral Mr. Weasly tried to hide this information from his family members and friends. Mrs.Wealsy convinced Arthur that they should spend a couple days in the town before returning to business, she thought it might be a bit fun to be out of the house. Tomorrow Hermione and Ron planned to explore the town and go see a muggle film called Pride and Prejudice which Hermione had highly recommended to Ron. Thinking about movies she opened the door to her room and turned on the television. The muggle inn was pleasurable to Hermione; it was a nice way to escape from the wizard world and all the dark wizards in it. Though Ron’s family was having a bit of trouble in the new environment, Hermione had spent an hour explaining the use of a microwave to the bewildered family. Exhausted, Hermione turned the channel to a television show called “Drama” and lay down on her bed while sipping a hot cup of coffee. Not very long after a loud knock came on the door.
“Come in” Hermione answered rather distracted from the television show
The door shut loudly before Hermione realized that Ron had just entered the room. She muted the television then turned to Ron puzzled. Her heart gave a leap as Ron sat down next to her.
“What are you watching Herms?” Ron asked disgusted as he watched the screen.
“It’s a show on muggle television” she answered plainly without expression.
“What’s it about?” a curious Ron asked
She stared at him for a long period of time before she answered.
“You know Ron, the wife dies, the father is left with two kids, and they move to a new town, the teenage guy gets a crush on the shows prettiest girl, she rolled her eyes at this comment.
After a long pause he said, “Oh right it’s a girl show”
Hermione hit him hard in the ribs; he yelped loudly then started laughing.
“If you’re going to be sexist then I’ll have to change the channel” she angrily added though she was rather pleased at the sound he made when she hit him.
Relived, that Ron was smiling she turned off the television and turned to look at Ron who was staring at her.
“Are you always going to be this strong willed Herms?” he asked with a slightly serious tone.
“Forever” she answered through half a giggle.

Ron softly pulled his face from her bushy brown hair, she wiped her eyes and sniffed. "I'm still sorry," she replied stubbornly with a small smile. He laughed and meant to step away, but she rubbed the soaked spot on his shirt with her fingertips. She chuckled, "You're all wet..."
"Nah...don't worry about it," he assured her, rubbing the last tear off her cheek. Finally she stepped away and looked at ginny and harry, who stood watching. Though Harry seemed to be grinning oddly at Ron, and Ginny beamed at the two of them.
Hermione ran over to them and hugged them both around the neck, her nose still a bit red from crying. "Thank you, both of you!"
She stepped back and sighed, happily of course. She then turned back to ron, whose face was suddenly stormy once more.
"Ron...Ron what is it?" she asked him.
"Malfoy..." he growled under his breath, she touched him arm. Now Harry stood beside her, resting a hand on his friend's shoulder. They both knew ron had a temper, and an even worse temper when he looked like that. Last time, he ended up burping up slugs as the result.
"Ron-"Harry started.
"No! He's gone too far this time Harry! Next he could try and kill one of us!!" he raged.
"We'll report them Ron!" Hermione reasoned.
"No! What good will that do one his dad bails them all out?!" he asked, his cheeks growing redder by the minute.
"Ron!" Hermione basically shouted, this stopped ron. She of course realized she was in a library and returned to a whisper. "Or we can handle it our way. On our own." She said with a small smile, which seemed to be contagious for Ron.
"You mean...."
Hermione nodded, her eyes brightening with mischeif.
"Come on." Harry advised headed towards the doorway, "We can continue this somewhere more private."

When they were safely behind the Fat Lady's portrait Ron, Hermione, Harry and Ginny stopped to catch their breath.
Hermione clutched her chest, all of them were too out of sport, she laughed to herself.
Ron looked at her quizically ,"What's so funny?" Hermione shook her head and stood straight, making her way in the Gryffindor common room. Ginny followed and made a fall for the couch propped before the black fireplace. Hermione fell down beside her red headed freind, harry sat on the other side of ginny. Ron perched himself on the arm of the couch, almost as if hesitant to sit next to hermione.
"So...what's this master plan Ron?" Harry asked, only now regaining control of his breathing. Ron shrugged, his face was still hard with anger and frustration. Hermione sensed his unease and put her hand on his knee assuringly.
"Ron, it's okay now...we'll give him what he deserves." She said softly, she searched his face for any other emotion other than hate.
"She's right Ron," Ginny added sending her brother a toothy smile. His stiff mouth and chin melted back into a grin, he nodded a little more at ease. Hermione slid her hand from his knee and placed it in her lap, her mind in deep thought.
Ron looked down at his friends sitting before the empty fireplace, then his gaze fluttered to Hermione. Relief and joy filled the pit of his stomach till he felt he could no longer breathe. She was back.
"Well Harry, know any good slug burping spells?" Ginny asked, while smirching at her brother who turned a little red. They all chuckled at the memory of ron turning grey and burping up slugs right and left. And Hagrid getting all worked up over his perfect pumpkins the size of a carriage.

Hermione watched Ron's face stiffen as he grew silent.
Ron thought of the horrible bruises that graced Hermione's slim stomach. The thought made his stomach churn, and not in a good way.
Malfoy.
She laid a hand on his arm gently, bringing him back to the common room. She smiled at him honestly.
"Ron. We'll get him, but we're going to do it right. We can't sink down to a Malfoy's level," she said slowly, hoping her aim would hit home. He fortunately nodded, resting his hand over hers.
"You didn't deserve it Mione. You never have." He assured her, shaking his head as he spoke. Hermione looked up at him, grinning. Ron looked down at her, realizing he loved that small nose.
Harry and Ginny, exchanged grins, taking notice that both Hermione and Ron had not made the point of breaking eye contact. Ron's thumb slowly caressed the back of her hand, Harry raised and eyebrow smirking. Ginny, put her hand over her mouth to reduce a squeal of pure joy.
"Ron, its over." Hermione assured him.
"Thank God," he sighed, dropping his hand from hers. Only to cup her chin with his long fingertips, he grinned at her.
"Lets go." Harry mouthed to Ginny, who nodded with a wide grin. They slowly got up from the couch, trying not to disturb Hermione and Ron. Quickly they skirted the wall, and headed out the portrait exit.
Hermione lowered her eyes to her lap. She still felt a throbbing guilt for the other thoughts Malfoy had put into her head. Ron noticed her unease. He abruptly sat down beside her on the couch, where Ginny had previously been.
"What is it?" he asked. Hermione looked up from her hands that lay in her lap, she looked around the common room. They were alone, and she was grateful.
"You weren't the only thing Malfoy put into my fake memory..."she began," there was..."
"What?" he asked softly, trying not to press her," What was it?"
"I remembered speaking to Lord Voldemort..." she trailed, watching ron wince at the name.
"He-he put-that ruddy bastard-I'll kill him! Not only is it bad enough that he-but to do that-I'll kill 'im!" he suddenly raged, standing up and began to pace infront of the couch.
"Shh!" Hermione hissed, pulling on his sweater sleeve so he'd sit back down. She looked cautiously around, to see if anyone was brought from the dormitories from his outburst. Ron face was red as he kept his mouth suprisingly shut.
"I'm just relieved to know it wasn't real," she continued, with a wavering smile. "I thought...I don't know what I thought but it was just...terrible," she whispered, once again bowing her head to hide her tears at the thought. "I didn't want to say anything infront of Harry, after Sirius..." she broke off, biting her lip.
Ron couldn't seem to find the words to comfort her, he'd always said the wrong things.
Hermione felt Ron put his arms around her, bringing her into a warm embrace. It was the first time Ron had ever comforted her like this, it felt good. His cheek rested against her ear, the curls brushing against his skin made him want to shiver and shout all at once.
She could hear him breathing as he held her. For once hermione felt like smiling.

Ron felt her wild curls brushing against his cheek, sending his heart into the set pace of a snitch. He felt her warmth soaking into his sweater, making him feel whole.
Mione'.
His Mione'....
"It wasn't real," he promised her, pulling her away from him slightly. Brushing a stranded tear from her cheek with his thumb. She smiled up at him, still red around the eyes from crying. The spot on his shirt still moist. But he didn't care. "Malfoy tried to blind you with lies, in the worst possible way."
Hermione felt tears beginning when she thought of meerly an hour before, she feared one of her dearest friends. The friend who now held her with such gentleness, making her feel as if she just drank a mug of butterbeer. She grabbed his hand, smoothing the creases in his palm, it was so much bigger then her own hand. "You'd never hurt me," she spoke softly, "How could I ever think you would?" she asked herself with a small chuckle. She lightly kissed his fingertips, and closed his hands, letting him have it back.
Ron felt as if someone had sat on his chest, and the breath wouldn't come to him. She released his hand after kissed it, sending fire the whole way up his arm, as if he'd bumped his elbow.
"Never. And I won't let him hurt you again Mione'"he swore, taking her tiny hand in his. He drew it to his lips, kissing her knuckles as if to seal his promise. Now it was Hermione's turn to feel as if she'd had the breath knocked from her, as she drew her hand back into her lap.
They sat for a moment, infront of the raging fire of the Gryffindor common room, silent. Finally she broke the silence, "What are you going to do?" she asked, not meeting his gaze. Ron stared intently into the licking flames.
"Make him pay."

Hermione looked up at Ron, his face set in grim determination. She knew this face well. His lip curled down slightly and his eyes became unfocused in deep thought. She felt her stomach squeeze slightly, she didn't want him to be expelled from Hogwarts.
Not Ron.
She bit her lower lip as the new worry began to grow in her stomach. Ron would most certianly have his revenge with Draco, but at what price? Both she and Harry needed Ron, now more than ever.
"Please dont," she whispered, feeling tears well in her eyes once more. These words successfully pulled Ron from his thoughts, bringing his sharp focus back to her.
"What?! But Mione! He-"
Hermione shook her head, putting her fingers over his mouth. "No Ron...dont you see?" He shook his head, her fingers still over his warm lips. "When and if you make him pay, you'll be expelled. Undoubtibly. You'd have the the satisfaction but what it would cost is far too great!" She pulled her hand away. Ron simply stared back at her, his mouth still poised for the argument he could no longer give. "If you were expelled..."
She seemed to choke on her words. Quickly she wiped her eyes dry with the back of her sleeve, a habit she'd picked up from Ron.
"If I were expelled?" he echoed softly, waiting to her finish. A smile grin began at the corner of his mouth, he knew what she wanted to say. What she needed to say.
"I- Ron- Harry needs you...I need you."
The grin was now more than evident on Ron's face. Hermione grinned, her lips folded in an attempt to banish her tears away for good. She laughed lightly, trying play down her wet cheeks and reddened face.
"If I were expelled...I don't know what I'd do," Ron joked. "Without my best mates, without Harry...without you..." This time it was Hermione's turn to grin knowingly. Ron grasped her hand in his, a lopsided grin on his face, and squeezed gently. "If I couldn't see you everyday...I'd go bloody mad. Well, that and being stuck at home with mum." He added the last part hoping to make her laugh once more.
They sat for a moment, holding hands before the cracking fireplace, silent.
"I won't," he promised, "Not now."
She leaned against his chest, and nodded thankfully. "I just don't want to lose you." At this Ron pulled her away from him.
"Mione I felt like I could have lost you today. I'm never going to let that happen again, blimey not when I can help it." As he said this, he let his grip loosen and slid down to her hands. He intertwined his fingers with hers, letting them fall back into her lap.
Slowly, he leaned closer, the heat from the fire warming his cheeks and the fast beating of his heart warmed his limbs. His stomach felt heavy. They came together slowly, their noses mere inches apart. When their lips met the heat from the fireplace seemed to pass through them and across the common room.
Ron's hand caressed the sides of her face, his fingers intwining in her unruly hair. He searched her lips with his, surprised at how soft and sweet he always dreamed they would be.
Hermione felt as if she were slowly melting as she leaned closer to him. Her hands rested on his chest, the worn, knitted, burgundy wool soft beneath her fingers. It was exactly what she dreamed it would be, how he would be. A true moment of magic she would never be able to explain or find in the pages of a book.
Their lips parted enough so they could look up into one another's eyes. Ron smiled sheepishly, as if he should have been embarassed. She smiled back at him, a fondness in her eyes that could no longer hide.
"Ron..." she whispered, tilting her chin down to look at their folded hands. Ron met her forehead with his, the tips of their noses touching.
"Hmm?" He cupped her hands in his.
"Did...did you learn to kiss like that from Lavender?" she wondered. She knew she brooched a sensitive subject, though her heart needed to know why. She held her breath, waiting for him to speak.
Ron felt guilt wash over him at Lavender's name, at the memory of the year before. He'd thrown himself so carelessly into those weeks with Lavender, the rondevous in the common room. Back then he wanted to make her jealous, but he knew he'd accomplished more than that. He'd been so sick of people mocking him for never having a relationship, never kissing someone special. Though he had the hope of someone special...
He parted his lips, thinking of an answer that wouldn't bring back painful memories. He knew she was asking him more than just the one question. She wanted to know why...
"No," he replied. Realizing he didn't have to come up with an answer, it was already there. He'd just experienced it for himself. "I never kissed her like that..." At these words she looked up at him, her eyebrows wrinkled slightly not fully understanding him. "Not the way I've always wanted to kiss you."
She felt her heart skip a beat as she put together his words.
"You mean-"
"I never wanted Lavender, not really. I wanted something I didn't think I could have, so...I took what I could have. But it was never..." he struggled to come up with the right words, "you."
Hermione felt tears threatening once more, but this time it was from a different feeling.
"And you?" he asked, "Did you learn to kiss like that from Vicky?" His eyes met with hers, the same hope there that she held when she'd ask the same question. She shook her head.
"Viktor saw me. Something I never...never thought that you would. He didn't want me to help him with a potions essay, or to copy an assignment. He wanted me...for me." She said this slowly, hoping he would understand the things she'd felt then. He sighed, shaking his head.
"I was stupid Mione-"
"And I thought...perhaps if he took me to the Yule Ball that you'de-"
"It's okay Mione."
"Maybe you'de be jealous and...well I dont know-"
"Mione!"
She stopped rambling, her mouth slightly parted. Ron brushed his fingers under her chin, leaning in whisper in her ear. "It's alright." He pulled back, a grin of satisfaction creased the corners of his green eyes. "Who was the better kisser?"
"Ron!" she laughed, hitting him playfully on the arm.
"Well, I've got to know these things you know!" he insisted, laughing at her cheeks redden slightly. He grabbed her by the elbows as she tried to smack him once more, her laughter music to his ears, and pulled her close. "Being that Vicky and I are both very competitive Quidditch players...and since he's the best Seeker in the-ouch!"
She pinched him lightly on the arm, laughing at his reasoning. He yanked her even closer, their faces intimately close. "As I was saying, since he's an excellent Seeker, I have to be better at snogging."
"Ron you're absolutely ridiculous, do you know that?" she chuckled, breaking a hand free she brushed his red hair out of his eyes. His arms stretched around her waist, bringing their noses together once more.
"Completely nutters," he agreed. She brought her arms around his neck, bringing him down to kiss her. He looked at her expectantly, his eyebrow poised in insatiable curiosity.
"You've left him back at the pitch..." she whispered. Ron's eyes twinkled as he grinned triumphantly, and kissed her again.
To be continued.......
