You won't see much talk about Tolkien here because most of us go over to the Council of Elrond (http://www.council-of-elrond.com/forums/) to discuss those books and movies - in fact the Muggle Informer started life as a thread and then a forum within those boards.

yes I know that-im a membe rthere also...but it said Other Books so i figured i would start one:)
Interesting thought, young lassie :D
But I agree with you---> there is better way to turn 16 than to watch RotK. Anyway-- happy birthday in advance!! (just don't actually drink the beer i just offered you, alright??)

RotK will definitely win "Best Film" in whatever award shows have to do with movies.

I certainly hope so! :)
I just bought TTT DVD set. Haven't gotten home to watch it yet, though.
Last weekend I saw the RotK trailer on the big screen. I'd seen it several times on the computer. But it was my first time seeing it on a movie screen.
And Oh. MY. GOD. :jawdrop: :swoon: It was just amazing. (Definitely will be a great way to celebrate a birthday.)

Don't kill me SiriuslyInLove but.............. In my opinion Legolas is ok. His moves are cool, but Aragorn is such a great character full of depth and he is so sophisticated thats why I :swoon: :swoon: for him. sweatiness, confidence, manliness, the way he flips his hair in the two towers! whats to hate! *thats just me though* plus Sam! I love him! he's my favorite character! he is so sweet it kills me to watch him on screen. I will bring extra tissues to ROTK.
I got TT:EX edition I just finnished watching it! simply divine.....

Araogorn may be cool, but he's no Legolas.

Very well put.

To me Legolas will never come close to Aragorn or Sam sure he may be cute but how does he improve the plotline? I'm not a Legolas hater I just prefer *other men *
Kristin
11-20-2003, 07:22 PM
I say, let's hear it for Merry and Eowyn, who kick Witch-King butt! :notworthy :D
glaelia
11-20-2003, 07:59 PM
hehe, don't get me wrong, my favourite characters are Boromir, Faramir and Aragorn ( in that order) and Merry is such a big part of book three! But... Legolas is so pretty...
*sighs happily*

Orlando Bloom was really good in Pirates of the Caribbean as well.
LuthienElentari

I love the Flotsom and Getsom scene with Merry and Pippin :rotfl:
( I get it Don't be Hasty)
Give me Aragorn any day!!!!!
Leggy is cool ~ i really like him, but my king is my king and I'm aloyal subject;)
But, yeah, orlando was good in Pirates ~~:swoon: ~~ yet, i'd rather :swoon:   :swoon: for, gues who?? yeah!! johnny!!! But I'm still a Lord of the Rings -lover at heart!! Leggy can't beat any other elf -- other than Haldir & Arwen. (Why don't anyone REALLY like Arwen?? She is so beautiful ~ from a girl's point of view, and etheral and wise and also and Aragorn-lover........)
LuthienElentari

Ayla~ I really like the character of Arwen. She is amazing. But she also stole Aragorn....
alqua
11-22-2003, 12:26 PM
I like Arwen as she is in the book, but not the way she is in the movie. She's supposed to be a high and dignified elf lady, not a warrior princess or a weeping teenager. It's a shame, though, that Liv seems to be getting so much harsh words about her role. She makes a very beautiful elf and it's not her fault how the character is written.

boromir....... what a character. I hated him the whole film through, but when he died I cried the loudest!!:o
How lame can you get?;)
but now that i think about it, borri was good, a tad bad, but quite sad, yet he made me glad and i was sure to be bad if i had the chance to see him leather clad.;)

...assuming viewers have read the books, which not everyone has. spouse read them once years ago but hasn't since; remembers a few major things about the plot but otherwise knows nothing walking into the theatre. (Likewise, spouse hasn't read the HP books at all so really knows nothing when being dragged into those films by myself and other HP maniacs in our gaming group.)
I saw some maps in the newspaper a day or two ago indicating the majority of US states have had major flu outbreaks and none have been totally unaffected by flu... made me glad I got my shot early this season, while they were still available. (Yes, vaccine supplies are running low here - can't get one at all now unless you're considered at special risk, and even then I hear there's a wait for shots.) Anyway, hope Flockman and anyone else here suffering from flu feel better soon.
