I saw it. I cried till my heart was content. It was the most beautiful film I have ever seen in my whole life. The part when Sam carries Frodo up the mountain broke my heart. If this film doesn't win best picture I'll never watch the Academy Awards again. Pippin was amazing I loved his solo that he sang to Denethor and then as he sang it cut back to the battle sequences oohh WOW! after I saw it I could barely speak until we were half way home. Ally kept telling me to be quiet but I couldn't help it the part where! Theoden dies just ripped me in half. This thread is made for those who believe that *FRODO LIVES*

POST AWAY!

Remember: You should bow to no man!

Saw it last night. It was pretty good! I cried off and on through the whole movie.:D

Loved Pippin's character development, loved Denethor (the acting, not the character), loved Faramir's reaction to him, loved well, lots of things!:D

Only, it isn't a perfect movie without the Houses of Healing! (the part I was looking forward to the most!)

And the theater we went to put on a skit before the show, and it wasn't even opening day! They reenacted some of the fighting with orcs. Very fun!

which one was Theoden?

i was so worried when denethor was trying to burn himself and faramir, and willing pippin to find gandalf faster to stop it but i couldn't help thinking "gandalf's trying to orchestrate a war here, he doesnt have time to tend to some mortally wounded bloke being burnt alive by his crazy father". also everyone in the cinema cheered when leggy-lass took down the big elephant thing, but i missed whatever cheesy thing he said to gimpli afterwards as everyone was giggling too much.

Eowyn seriously rocked in this film... i love the way she got over aragorn sharpish...

Theoden was the king of Rohan.

And...
The thing that got the laughs after Legolas killed the oliphant wasn't anything cheesy that Legolas said. It was Gimli's: "That still counts as one!" :D

Bloody loved it! Why didnt anyone warn me to bring tissues though? :p

EOWYN ROCKS! I was clapping when she got that witchking dude! I'm so naming my second born daughter after her!

:notworthy

I was so sure Merry was going to die when they went into battle... But he didnt! I was crying with fear! Not my Merry! Oh, and then when Shelob stabbed Frodo, I just screamed!

Can someone clarify where Frodo and Gandalf went? My friend tried to explain it, but I wasnt listening, I was muching my way through pizza going through all the slash moments :p

My guess is that Frodo, Gandalf, Elrond, Bilbo, Galadriel, Celebron and all the other elf dudes went to Valinor--the undying lands where they can dwell the remainder of the world in peace and harmony. Frankly, I've never been to Valinor so I can't tell you how it looks, but I think it must be beautiful.

The first time I saw RotK I cried through the whole movie. Really, even when the title came up : Lord of the Rings. I think the people thought I was mad!!!
MY little heart is sobbed dry at the moment :(

I can't give you a favorite scen right now. Four times is not enough to decide on that!!!!

I'll kiss that dream of winning an Oscar goodbye if RotK does not win Best Picture!!!!
The Academy won't know what they missed when they missed me!!!!!!!!! :D

They went to the Undying Lands (where Valinor also is). For Gandalf (and Galadriel, who was born in Valinor), that is the home where he is returning after finishing his task. For Frodo it is a place where he can be healed after everything he has suffered as the Ringbearer. Bilbo also went because he was a Ringbearer, and even Sam will go later because he had the Ring for a while too.

If you remember Gandalf's speech to Pippin about dead and the white shores - that's basically where they went.

Good movie. Downside is that it

ends 5 times.

Frodo and Sam also

seemed a bit fruity.

In my opinion if this film doesn't win best picture then that just shows how sick and wrong the academy awards are!

I saw the movie yesterday, it was very good! I'm still trying to decide whether it was better than the first movie or not, actually, and it might have a slight edge over the first one. I thought the ending was done very well.. the emotion was DEFINITELY there from all the characters. Kinda like a happy ending combined with a sad ending, which has got to be bit unique I guess! :)

Though, having said that I liked the movie, I have to admit that I wasn't all that impressed with the Witchking, sorry! When he came out of Minas Morgul, that was scary and cool, but he lost it a bit after that for me. That metal mask he was wearing kept reminding me of the Scream mask, hehehe: I think they should have just stuck with an evil looking crown and a nice pair of red glowing eyes or something, I dunno. :)

Anyways, good movie! Bravo! :D

I saw Cold Mountain and I thought it was good. But, of course, it wasn't anywhere near as good as RotK.

Return of the King deserves to win. But I'm not real optimistic that it will win.

It's all about intellectual snobbery. Some people think that an intimate, smaller-release, artsy drama that ends tragically is better and has more merit than an epic, highly popular drama that ends mostly happily. Unfortunately, a lot of people think that a movie has to be tragic and hard to understand to be considered good film.
