"Ron, can you please put that book down for a second?" Hermione asked, trying to hide her laughter with a stern look.
Ron, pull the book lower, so his flaming red hair and eyes peeped out at her. It read 'Peter Pan' J. M. Barrie on the small, well read, soft cover.
He raised a red eyebrow at her, as if she were interupting a very important debate he was having with himself.
"You could at least pretend pay attention to what I'm saying to you," she reminded him, setting down the parchment of Arithmacy notes he'd asked her to go over with him. They'd been in the common room for the past hour, half of which Ron had discovered an abandoned copy of 'Peter Pan and was trying to comprehend the muggle tale.
He ignored her comment and sat up a bit in his chair, leaning his elbows on his knees looking at the page again. "Alright, lemme get this straight...a muggle boy, flies into these kid's bedroom at the crack of dawn..."
"No Ron, it was at night. Their parents were going to a party," Hermione corrected, as if this would help.
"And they left their three children with a dog...even mum wouldn't do that, are you sure these are muggles?" he countered, pointing at a random sentance on the left page.
"Yes, Ron. They were muggles."
"Why didn't they leave the children with a house elf?"
"No. Ron, most muggles don't keep house elves!"
"Oh...right. So, this strange muggle boy flies into their room and teaches them to fly...."his words trailed off, as if he was trying to "connect-the-dots" in his head.
"Yes..."Hermione agreed, her eyebrows knitted. Confused as to why exactly Ron was confused. "Ron, you've lived in the wizarding world your whole life, you're used to people flying about all the time." She pointed out, laughing at his puzzled expression.
"But...he didn't have a broom..."
"So?"
"Hermione! Honestly, even I know you can't fly without a broom! So how did he get there?!"
"Ron, that's not the point as to how he could fly, he just does..."she shrugged, as if it were common knowledge.
"Did he have a flying motorcycle?"
"No!"
"A Hippogriff?"
"Ron!"
"How does he fly then?!" he persisted curiously, leaning further onto his elbow. He loved to drive Hermione to the point of being flustered.
"He thinks of happy thoughts..."Hermione explained, biting her lip at how silly she knew she sounded. Ron's eyebrows shot up under his feiry bangs in bewilderment.
"You muggles..."he mumbled, shaking his head as if he were dizzy. "No wonder it took you so long just to make fire."
"Well, I'm sorry if you cannot comprehend a simple children's tale," she shot back, snatching the small book from his hands. Of course, being the near six foot Weasley he was, he simply reached across the table and reclaimed the novel. Hermione, looked up at him as if she were annoyed, though Ron knew the tiny beginning of a smile that crept at the corner of her mouth.
He promptly reopened the book. "And then what happens?"
"Why cant you read it yourself?" she asked with a laugh, trying to grab for it. Ron simply pulled it from her reach.
"I want you to tell me," he replied simply, grinning as she sighed in defeat.
"Peter takes the children to where he lives, Neverland." She reitterates, thinking back to how long it'd been since she'd last read the book herself.
"Neverland?" He seemed skeptical.
"Yes."
"Did they use a portkey to get there?"
"Ron. Muggle world. Please concentrate."
"Oh, right. Go on then."
Hermione blew a peice of hair from her eyes, as she thought of what came next. "Well...they fly to Neverland, where they find this island full of pirates, mermaids, fearies, and lost boys."
"Wait!Wait!Who are the lost boys? Is that a hippy pop group or something?"
"No," Hermione chuckled, "The Lost Boys were a group of boys, who were orphaned, when they were really young. And Peter would take them to Neverland, this paradise where you could never grow old. "
"Never grow old? Why wouldn't they want to grow old?"
"Because, the Lost boys hated grown ups. The only grown ups on the island were evil pirates, led by captain Hook. And they could do 'boy things' forever, like capture Indians and fight the pirates!" she explained, remembering more and more to the tale as she went. Ron watched Hermione grow more excited as she went on, the hidden smile turned into a grin. He loved to sit and listen to her talk, when it didn't involve homework or Vicky.
"And what happens then?"
"Well, Peter shows them the Pirate ship, while hiding up on a cloud. And...I remember this part...they were spotted and the pirates started firing at them. So Peter send them with Tink to find safety-"
"Whoa, whoa! Who is Tink?"
"She's Peter's pixie."
"You mean, like a cornish pixie? Who'd want a cornish pixie for a pet?!"
"She wasn't a pet Ron, she was Peter's best friend."
"Ah."
"But the thing was, when they went to find safety...well...the Lost Boys shot Wendy." She explained bluntly, watching Ron's eyes bug at the mention of violence.
"They shother?!"
"Well, yes...but really they didn't know better, because Tink had told them Wendy was a bird. And that Peter wanted it killed. So they followed orders and shot her down." Hermione replied, becoming rather sad for Wendy. She herself was like Wendy, the more she thought about it.
"Why would Tink do that?" Ron blurted stupidly.
Hermione sighed, as if the answer were obvious. "She was jealous."
"Jealous? Why?"
Hermione rolled her eyes, surprised at how thick Ron could get sometimes. "She was in love with Peter..." Hermione explained, trailing off to see if he would catch onto the concept.
Ron had gotten what she meant, even when Hermione had first said it.
Thinking to himself, he thought about how he'd love to shoot Vicky off his broomstick.
:D

Ron looked down at the chipped bar that lay before him, twisting his wand slightly between his index finger and thumb. He was waiting for his best mate, the new Seeker of the Chudley Cannons, who was arriving to meet him after a long tour in America.
Ron heard the door to the 'Leaky Cauldron' open, and turned to see who was walking in. Harry walked across the floor towards him, carrying a suitcase with a 'Chudley Cannons' sticker across it and his 'Firebolt' tucked under his other arm.
"Ron!" Harry greeted with a deep smile, dropping his suitcase and broom to hug Ron. "How are you?" He asked as he pulled back to look up a bit at his red headed friend.
"I'm good, can't say I've been flying around with the Cannons all Spring, but I'm bloody well enough!" Ron joked, slapping Harry on the shoulder jokingly. "And you?"
"I'm great. Can't wait to get to the Burrow though," he replied with a sigh. Ron laughed at this and picked up Harry's suit case for him.
"That excited eh?"
Harry nodded unashamed, grabbing the broom around the handle. "Shall we go then?"
"Yeah, great! Mum wants us home as fast as possible, apparently theres some really big news or something." Ron explained, shrugging as Harry's eyebrow rose in curiosity. "The hell if I know!" he laughed.
"Are we meeting Hermione too?" Harry asked, looking towards the door and about the room to see if perhaps she was already about aomewhere. Ron shook his head.
"Nah, Hermione's already there. She wanted to come, but I'm afraid Mum grabbed her to help with supper..." he explained, grimacing at the thought of being held captive by his own mother, and worse, in her kitchen.
"That's alright." Harry mended, a sudden mischevious look floated into his eyes, like it used to back in Hogwarts. "first one there has to degnome the garden!" Harry laughed, disapearring with a pop.
"Damn you Har-" Ron followed with a another pop.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ginny dear, will you carry that plate for me? Ron and Harry should be getting here soon, and I want supper to be on the table for Harry. Such a long journey..." Molly Weasley sighed as if apparating were a tragically long process. Ginny nodded, rolling her eyes at Hermione, grabbing the plate of ham from her mother.
"Hermione dear-"
"Already got it!" Hermione exclaimed, pointing her wand at the three levitating dishes above them. Mrs. Weasley smiled warmly at her and shoed the two of them out into the garden.
The two women made their way out of the house, stepping ou the doorway just in time to hear two loud, familuar voices arguing in the family room.
"You ruddy cheater!" Harry laughed, followed by a loud laugh from Ron who was apparently very pleased with something.
"Oh sod off mate, dont be such a poor loser!" Ron laughed, running into the kitchen to avoid Harry thundering after him.
"Harry!" Molly shreiked gleefully, stopping Harry in his tracks with a bone crunching hug. Hermione found it amazing how a small woman such as Mrs.Weasley could stop a strapping lad such as Harry with such ease. "Ron, dont run through the house!" she added, after letting Harry go. Brushing off his shirt lightly with her hand.
Ron rolled his eyes at Harry and grabbed an apple of the counter, taking a bit into it. Only to nearly choke on it a second later when he was nearly knocked over by a smaller body from behind, two arms wrapping about his arms.
"Ron!" a familuar woman laughed from behind, giving him a hug and then edged around him to run to Harry. "Goodness it's so good to see you two!" she exclaimed, pulling back from hugging Harry. Ron silently watching her from behind, his mouth still full of apple. She turned about to look them both over moment, smiling as if she were meeting them at the train station for another year at school.
"Hermione, how are you?" Harry asked, putting his arm arund her shoulders in a friendly squeeze.
"Oh, I'm wonderful Harry!" she replied, her eyes shining as she looked up at Ron with a wide smile. "You?"
"Hungry." Harry replied quickly with a laugh, smelling the air about him that wafted through the kitchen. They laughed at this, as Mrs. Weasley began to hurry them all out into the back garden.
Harry noticed Ron's silence during their meeting in the kitchen, he'd turned slightly red at the ears and had forgotten to chew the bite of apple in his gob. Harry knew the two had kept close contact through owls for ages, yet Ron's sudden shy silence made Harry force back a grin.
"Outside now, outside!" Ron's mother shushed, swirling her wand a bit to clean up after herself as she left the kitchen. She hurried about, making them all quickly sit at the set table to eat.
"There now, isn't it splendid to have us all eating together once again? Feels like ages!" she exclaimed, putting her napkin on her lap, looking about the table at them all.
"Marvelous meal mum!" Fred boasted.
"Yes! Exquisite!" George added, helping himself to some potatoes.
Everyone took this as a sign and quickly began to fill their plates, that is until Mrs. Weasley shouted at them all.
"Now, now, before we eat, I believe there is a special announcement to be made. Hermione dear..." she trialed off, leaving everone to look done in Hermione's direction.
Hermione coughed uncomfortabley, tucking a frizzy lock behind her ear, looking down her plate. Ginny nudged her with her elbow, "Go ahead Mione, tell them." She urged.
Harry shot Ron a confused look, as if to ask if he knew what it was all about. Ron returned the confused look, looking a bit worried.
"Well...there is some news..." she began.
"Is everything alright Hermione?" Harry asked for ron, who had his mouth full of biscuit.
"No, everything is fine Harry," she laughed nervously,"It's just, well....Vicktor and I are engaged."
Mrs. Weasley and Ginny squealed with delight, jumping from the table to harass Hermione with numerous hugs and congratualtions. The table broke out in numerous voices all at once, covering the sound of Ron choking and Harry knocking him on the back.

Ron's air was briefly cut off as he nearly choked on the lump of buscuit that had been sitting in his mouth. He was relieved to have it out after Harry whacked him on the back a few times. The whole table was now in numerous conversations all at once, all directed at Hermione.
"Isn't it wonderful?" he heard Ginny ask excitedly, from the other end of the table. He rubbed his throat as he took in a deep gulp of air, taking a glance down to the other end of the table.
She couldn't be.
The twins were congratulating her on the news, asking if he'd be coming by anytime soon, perhaps he'd want to play some quidditch?
She wouldn't be.
Percy sat beside Hermione, telling her what a fine husband she had choosen, and the perfectly secure life she had supplied for future.
Not to him.
Harry got up from his seat to join the others, wrapping Hermione about her shoulders, delivering a large hug. Hermione's cheeks beamed at all the commotion being made over her, a large grin was spreading further and further across her face.
Not. Vicky.
Ron cleared his throat, which was still clentched. But not from the near death experience. His mother cheerfully jeered at his silence, "Now Ron! We haven't heard a word from you! Aren't you happy for Hermione?!" she questioned with a chuckle, bringing the family, Harry, and Hermione's attention to him.
Hermione smiled weakly, waiting for him to either throw a tantrum or aparate all together. Harry watched the two of them, a supressed grin hidden at the corner of his mouth.
"Erm. Ehm. Yes. Great. Can we eat then?" he asked stiffly, coughing slightly as he spoke. Quickly he looked away, trying to avoid Hermione's gaze at all costs.
"Alright, Ron the Impatient..." Mrs. Weasley sighed, waving her hand at him annoyed. She bent over, kissing Hermione's head lightly. "Congratulations darling! You must bring him about soon, wont you?" She asked, while scuddling back over to her seat. Her middle son's old response to the news had either missed her attention entirely, or chose to ignore it.
Harry watched the smile flicker for a moment on Hermione's face, as if she were confused and disapointed and tried to hide it. He leaned over and whispered into her unruly brown hair, "Give him some time Mione..." He rubbed her shoulder assuringly before going back to his seat next to a silent Ron.
As soon as everyone was back in their seats and quickly filling their plates, Harry took the time to kick Ron under the table. Mumbling under his breath, "At least pretend you're happy for her!"
Ron, frowned slightly, kicking Harry back frustratingly. His plate was piled slightly higher then usual, he grabbed his fork and ate in stubborn silence.
At the other end of the table, Hermione glanced down to her two best friends. She felt guilty for not giving them any more warning. Harry was happy for her of course, he had accepted the news as well as she expected. Though, Ron's reaction, had surprised her. She'd hinted to the idea in their letters back and forth, yet he'd never commented on it. Questioned her, or argued with her. She'd honestly expected him to whole heartedly rave as she was so used to back in school, but he hadn't even raised his voice. Hermione had felt her smile slip from her face, and she tried to recover from her disapointment without being noticed but she knew she'd failed.
'Apparently Ron doesn't care at all that I'm getting married...'
She ate quietly, listening to Ginny talk about her new job at the WWW with her brothers. Occassionally she would reply or give her opinion when it was asked for, but really her mind kept wandering.
'Why can't he be happy for me?'

Continuing the drama......
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron ate the rest of his meal in an aggravated silence, only taking a breath of air now and then between forkfulls. And to make things worse, the night's meal revolved mainly around the soon to come matrimony of Hermione and Victor.
"Have you made any plans yet dear?" Molly asked curiously, sending some of the emptied dishes into the kitchen with a flick of her wrist.
Before she answered, Hermione wiped her mouth with her napkin, "Well...not exactly. Viktor just asked me two days ago. But I think mum already has a few plans of her own," she explained. Rolling her eyes slightly at the mention of her mothers plans, which were being laid out secretly for the past month.
"Oh no..."Ginny groaned as if on cue, "I'm sorry Hermione, but that's something you'll have to deal with, without the wand." She joked, patting Hermione on the shoulder.
"Apparently, she wants the bride's maid's dresses to be Taupe..."Hermione embellished with a grimace. Ginny sucked in her breath at this bit of information, Fred snorted, sending pumpkin juice across the table.
"Well, perhaps we should just...give you an early wedding present and put alittle memory charm on your mum..."Ginny laughed.
"By all means Hermione!!!We'll get her out of the way for you!" George volunteered, Fred nodded excitedly.
"It'd be our pleasure!"
"For my own safety, I haven't heard a word thats just been said," Hermione stated, flashing them a smile of upmost gratitude.
"There we are! See? Little Hermione really was smart after all!"
"I'm so proud," George sniffed, wiping away a tear with the back of his hand. Fred gave his twin a reassuring pat on the back, sighing happily himself.
"Alright, so you have one thing planned. No taupe," Harry joked,"See Hermione, this wedding business isn't so hard. That's one item done."
For the first time, Ron spoke. "No, two. Snape's not invited." He added with a mouthfull of shepard's pie. Everyone, including Mrs. Weasley had to laugh at this.
"Perhaps I should send the Malfoys a proper invitation," Hermione suggested sarcastically, directing it at both Harry and Ron. Her spirits had seemed to lift now that ron had actually made a joke.
"Ha! Malfoy with drop a Bludger when he hears your marrying the best Seeker in the league!" Harry described still laughing, picturing the look on the git's rat like face when he heard the rumor was true.
"Well, now he's got some healthy competition for that title," Ginny pointed out. Fred and George raised their glasses to this, bellowing "Hear, hear!"
"You could have your ceremony on the pitch," Harry joked.
"Or in the air," Ginny added, watching Hermione's eye grow larger at the very thought. She shook her head.

Hermione had visibly relaxed by the end of the meal. She sat discussing the summer with Ginny, over the remanents of what was once Mrs. Weasley's chocolate cake. Mrs. Weasley, was adding her bits of advice while directing the dishes into the sink in the kitchen. Mr. Weasley, who had arrived after the big announcment was more excited then even Ginny, the idea of experiencing a new muggle custom was exhilarating to him.
"And, what is it that the groom throws again?" he asked, trying to recap some of the basics. Hermione explained the garter belt with a serious face, yet could not quite conceal her deep blush.
Meanwhile, the twins had grown bored of all the talk of future weddings, "So!" Fred began, jumping up from his seat. George followed.
"Who wants to play some Quidditch? You in Harry?"
"Of course he is! Come on Harry..." Ron answered for his friend, jumping from the table himself and bolting for the house. Dragging a stumbling Harry Potter behind him into the kitchen, and up the stairs.
"Meet you at the field then!" Fred yelled behind them.
Harry at first had trouble keeping up with Ron's newly hieghtened pace as he was drug across the kitchen floor. Ron was never active after a large meal, yet he seemed keen on getting out of the house for the next few hours. And as Harry suspected was not to play quidditch.
"Oy! Ron!" Harry complained as they quickly climbed the steps, three at a time. Ron stopped and turned around to look at his friend as the reached the door marked 'Ronald', stopping only a moment before turning and opening the door.
"What?"
"Why all the hurry?" Harry asked, following Ron into his bright orange room. He sat down on the sagging bed, that surely had to be too short for the towering Weasley, attempting to catch his breath.
Ron, grabbed his broom from underneath a large pile of clothing, inspecting it quickly before he spoke. "What are you talking about Harry? Don't want to rush a good Weasley pummeling eh?" Obviously making an excuse for his rush to get out of the house.
Harry decided not to press the subject, and shook his head. "Nah! Come on lets go." He offered, though there was not much point, as Ron apparated from the room. Harry followed suit only to pop up second later in the old, sloped field that sat before the batch of thick woods.
The twins had already been flying about, knocking the old bludger back and forth with their old clubs. Ron quickly joined them in the air, whizzing past the two, cutting over the tops of the trees. Before, coming back around to grab the quaffle from the apple basket suspended under the ring.
Harry met the twins, listening to Fred as George shoke his head sadly. "This is going to be a rough few weeks in the Burrow," George predicted with a sigh.
"Thank God we don't live here anymore" Fred agreed. "Or we'd be in for it from both sides."
"Look at him," George nodded towards his younger brother, who was throwing the quaffle through the ring and catching it round the other side. "He'll be all hell until the wedding day..."
"If there ever is a wedding," George added pointedly, looking skeptically at his brother and Harry.
"That is, if he ever figures it out..." They all grinned at this, looking down at Ron who was still at it heatedly.
"I'll talk to him..." Harry assured them, watching the red head dive savagely for the quaffle and then began to shot towards them. "That is...when he's cooled down a bit"
Ginny and Hermione helped clear what was left of the their dinner, as Mrs. Weasley whisked the dry dishes back to their place in the cupboards.
Hermione bent over collecting the silverware, as Ginny simply used her wand to shoot the cups back towards the kitchen. It would always seem the muggle habits would die hard.
"Ginny..."Hermione began quietly.
"Hmm?"
"He didn't take it well, did he?" she asked her friend, already knowing the answer. Though she really just wanted to hear Ginny's assurances.
"Who? Harry?" Ginny asked, as if not quite paying attention to the question at first.
"No...Ron." She clarified. Ginny lowered her wand at the mention of her brother's name.
"No, no he didn't" Ginny agreed, sending the silverware from Hermione's hand following the other dirty dishes. "I'm surprised he didn't blow his top, you know how he hates Viktor." She reminded Hermione.
"I know....I just wish...."she trailed off, she shrugged not knowing what exactly to say.
"He'd take it like Harry?" Ginny assumed, silently cursing her brother for hurting and confusing her best friend. She watched Hermione nod.
"The strange thing is, he acted as if I'd never mentioned the idea of marrying viktor before. When I wrote I sometimes added it in, but he never reacted...it was as if he didn't care. But then why act the way he did?"
"Alright, wait a second Hermione! First of all, this is my brother you're referring to, who isn't exactly the brightest at picking up on such things. Secondly, Ron isn't the kind of bloke who is going to tell you what you can and cannot do with your life."
Hermione nodded in agreement, she had suspected the warnings in her letter were never heeded because ron had missed them entirely. Yet there was a part of her that wanted him very badly to react, just so she would know he had accepted the idea. But ron hadn't said a word in any of his letters.
"Did Harry know?"
Hermione shook her head. "I haven't had much contact with Harry since he's been travelling so often, and I knew he wouldn't react like ron would."
"Well, I must admit for handling it badly, he handled it badly rather well," Ginny joked, Hermione had to chuckle. She'd pictured a large scene involving food being thrown, a shouting match, and owls feathers scattering everywhere in the chaos.
"Come on Hermione," Ginny sighed cheerily, "Forget about Ron...tell me all about what you have planned!" This tactic seemed to work, as Hermione began to smile. "And I'll talk to Harry about it," she promised, pushing Hermione into the kitchen.
"Yes dear, what are your plans?" Molly Weasley asked curiously, as the two girls entered the kitchen.
"Mum!" Ginny scolded. Her mother grinned guiltily, slipping something into her cardigan's pocket.
"You know the new listening device your brothers concocted works remarkably well!" she joked jollily. Ginny rolled her eyes and laughed, sitting down at the kitchen table. "Well?" she asked Hermione again, impatiently.
"Well...actually, Mrs. Weasley....I want to ask you a favor....I was wondering...well I was wondering if I could have the wedding reception here."

"Oh Hermione! What a wonderful idea!" Ginny gushed, looking at her mother expectantly.
"Are you sure you want to have it here my dear?" Molly asked her, searching Hermione's face. Hermione nodded enthusiastically.
"Well, I know it's alot to ask, but the Burrow has become my second home...and it's just the perfect place I'd want to celebrate my wedding. That is, if you say it's alright." She explained, correcting herself before Molly even answered her. She exchanged an anxious glance at Ginny who was squeezing her hand under the table.
Mrs. Weasley seemed touched by Hermione's words, and sucked in breath with exhiliration. "Oh my dear..." she sighed, biting her lip to keep from bursting into tears right there in the kitchen. She reached across the table and patted Hermione lightly on the hand, "I would be more then happy to hold your wedding celebration here! You are my second daughter after all, and what kind of mother would I be to deny my daughters wishes?"
"Thank you!" Hermione cried, as she jumped across the table encircling her arms around Mrs. Weasley's neck in a large hug. Mrs. Weasley hugged her back warmly.
"Besides my dear..." she added before pulling back from Hermione,"I don't think Arthur would have ever forgiven me if I'd said 'no'." She joked. Making the smile on Hermione's face grow even larger.
"Oh how brilliant!" Ginny squealed, clapping her hands and hugging Hermione. "We'll have to get started right away! There's so much to plan!"
"And of course, it'll mean I'll be here all the time," Hermione reminded her best friend.
"Exactly! It'll be wonderful having you here, just like old times, before school started!"Ginny agreed, becoming more excited by the second. The red pony tail was beginning to come undone about her ears, as strands of fiery red fell down around her temples. Though really she didn't seem to mind at the moment and brushed them away hastily.
Mrs.Weasley, sat back, beaming at the two girls infront of her. What two fine women they had become...and not so long ago it seemed that Hermione had first appeared during her second year after making friends with Harry and Ron.
Though, something on the inside made her pause for a moment. There had always been the motherly hope that Hermione would inevitably become a part of the Weasley family. She'd been sure for quite a few years that the relationship between ron and Hermione would grow to something more. Yet, it never had. The excitement inside her died a bit, as she came to realize Ron had lost his final chance. Outwardly she kept smiling at the two girls, yet she frowned when she thought about Ron's reaction at dinner now that she'd thought about it.
'How on earth will he react to the wedding celebration being here?'
Hermione felt her excitement grow as she listened to Ginny rattle on more and more at the table. She was glad to see her best friend was supporting her decision, something she wished Ron was take an example after....
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Oy! Harry! Watch it!" Fred warned as a bludger nearly missed Harry's head. The quaffle had been safely tucked under his arm when he felt the bludger buzz by his ear, and the twin responsible to its course was close behind him.
"Watch the ring mate!" George warned from behind him, as he grew closer to the goal ring. Where Ron already sat, one step ahead of his older brother, waiting for Harry.
Harry noticed Ron's face before her reached the scoring boundaries, and it slowed his pace minutely. A look of pure heated, determination was set across his best friend's face, he wasn't just gaurding the goal or playing a game. This was Ron's was of letting out his anger and frustrations, to push himself to the point of exhaustion by winning. This was exactly what he was doing now, he was daring Harry.
Harry sped up, not willing to make it easier for his friend. Ron would no if he was holding back and that would just make him angrier, that wouldn't be pretty.
"Score Harry! Knock the little git off his broom!" Fred urged with an encouraging shout. Harry stuck his tongue out slightly in concentration, trying to find Ron's weak spot before he reached the hoop.
"Don't let im' score Ron! So help me if you lose I'll come over there-"
Harry noted the space between Ron's calf and the left left curve of the hoop, that was it. Ron's weakest form of gaurd was the leg. Harry had been forced to watch Canadian ice hockey with the dursley's for ages, he'd watched the goalies block with their legs. Finally all that torture had paid off. Ron was weakest at the lower leg defense. Without another thought, Harry rammed the quaffle twoards the lower left curve of the hoop. It drove beautifully towards the mark, the shoot could not have been more perfect.
-CRACK-
Ron's lower end of the broom and blocked the path of the Quaffle, knocking it back towards Harry with the notch of the broom's sweep. Ron had seen Harry anticipate his weak spots, and there was no way in hell he was letting it past this time.
"Bloody hell! That was beautiful mate!" George informed his brother from halfway across the feild, nodding in approval. Harry nodded in agreement.
Ron didn't wait to hear this, as he dove for the quaffle that headed for the ground. He grabbed it just as he had practiced time and again. Levelling out his broom he headed for the opposing hoop, with Harry hot on his tail. Quickly he shot past George and Fred to the end of the patch, launching the ball through the hoop with the last of his might.
"We win!" George bellowed, "Yes!"
Fred looked from Ron to his twin brother, looking a bit shocked for a few seconds. Then up to Harry, who was watching Ron with a worried look on his face.
"That was lucky," Fred assured his identical image.
"Lucky?!?"
"Good game guys," Harry offered, flying down to their height. He offered his hand out to George, who took it graciously.
"Very good game mate," he agreed, looking back at Ron. Who was already off his broom and headed off to the Burrow on his own.
"Bloody amazing..." Fred trailed off, watching his brother leave, "...what that girl does to him." He looked from George to Harry.
"You need to talk to him." George agreed, "Remember, we all have to live with that for the next few months."
Harry nodded slowly, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. He dove off after his red headed friend.
"That was a great game Ron," Harry offered, after he caught up with his best mate. They walked up the hill side by side towards the house. Ron nodded, sweat dripping from him as he continued on, deep in thought.
"Want to talk about it?" he asked. Ron stopped for a second and looked at him, feigning innocent stupidity.
"Talk about what mate?" he countered, slightly out of breath.
"Do you want to talk about why you're upset about Hermione getting engaged." Harry reiterated flatly. Watching Ron take a deep gulp of air, trying to act nonchalantly.
"Don't know what you mean Harry...I'm not upset-"
"Oh come on Ron! If it weren't for me you would have choked to death when she told us about being engaged to Viktor!" he pointed out.
"Vicky" Ron corrected angrilly.
"Ah ha! See! You are upset about Hermione getting married!" Harry laughed truimphant, catching Ron with his own words. He pointed a finger at Ron accusingly, who dropped his broom roughly into the dirt path.
"To him. Getting married to him" Ron clarified, as if that would pull everything together and suddenly make sense to Harry. "If it were anyone else I wouldn't be so-"
"Jealous?" Harry suggested.
"No! No! I wouldn't be so against it! But it's Vicky for christ's sake!" Ron blurted angrilly.
"Ron, if it were anyone else you'd still be angry." Harry pointed out calmly.
"I would not!" Ron cried defensively. Crossing his arms stubbornly across his chest.
"What if she isn't getting married to Viktor Krum. Maybe Hermione lied about the name." he suggested, watching Ron's face grow bright crimson at the suggestion.
"Who is it?! I'll kill im'!" Ron proclaimed, gripping his fists together tightly at his sides. Harry simply stood infront of his enraged friend, looking pleased with the point he'd made of Ron's jealous behavior.
"See? You are upset with Hermione getting married, and not just because it's to Viktor!" Harry pointed out. Convinced.
"Of course I'm bloody well upset!" he sputtered.
"Why then?!" Harry demanded, nearly yelling with frustration. Ron stiffened for a moment, saying nothing, his face blotchy.
"Right then." Harry sighed, continuing up the trail to the house. Leaving a very confused and muddled Ron behind, his mouth gaping open stupidly.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Did see you him George?!"
"I did Fred."
"He was better than Harry there for a second!"
"Why couldn't he have been that good when we were still on the team?" Fred wondered to his brother.
"Because she wasn't getting married then,"George reminded him.
"Oh...right."
"Why is she marrying Viktor Krum?"
"Dunno..."
"Mom'll be disapointed."
"Well if Ron wasn't such a git, mom wouldn't be disapointed!"
"Maybe she just got tired of waiting..."
"Hermione?"
"Yeah."
"You're right my handsome brother, and you know what this means dont you?"
"Of course George!"
"We get involved..."
"We make a few changes..."
"Talk to some people..."
"Meddle in affairs that aren't our own..."
"Perfect!"
"Exactly, my dear brother!"
"When should we get started then?"
"Tomorrow?" Fred suggested.
"Tomorrow." Agreed Fred.
"And if anyone gets supsicious?..."
"It was all Percy!"
"Very good."

"So then what happens?" Ron asked with his usual impatience, flipping through the pages thoughtlessly with his thumb. He waited patiently for Hermione to continue.
"Well...lets see...Peter escapes the pirate attack, of course, only to find out that the lost boys had shot down Wendy....and so he demands to know which boy shot her...and they all blame Toddles and-"
"Wait...what kind of a name is Toddles?"
"What kind of a name is Ronald?" she countered, feeling slightly hurt for toddles, who happened to remind her very much of a certain Neville Longbottom.
"Ron is a perfectly good-"
"Ron!"
"Yeah?"
"Can I continue?"
"Oh...right...sorry."
"So, Toddles takes the blame...but then the lost boys break down and tell Peter that Tink was the one who had her shot. So he banishes Tink from his sight, and she gets really upset and flies off...and Peter along with the others builds a small house around Wendy. Because she was going to be their new mother, and she deserved a lovely house...the next morning Wendy wakes up..."
"But I thought they shot her?" Ron cut in, slightly confused.
"They did, but the arrow didn't pierce her heart or anything. The kiss R-Peter gave her was in her breast pocket, and it saved her life. When she fell she hit her head, and lay unconcious all night." Hermione explained this, noting Ron was with her once again. "So, Peter is very pleased to find her alive and takes her to the lost boys hideout...where she was to cook, clean, tell stories, and be their mother. And later on, the lost boys have one of their fighting games with the indians...they capture the indians and then release them, then the indians capture them and then release them...you see everything in 'Never-Never Land' is a game. But only this time, the indians dont release the lost boys..."
"Hermione..."
"Yes?"
"What's an en-dean?" Ron asked, trying to mimick the word correctly. Hermione tried to supress a giggle, but failed. "What?!"
"Ron...you dont know what indians are?" she asked him, in disbelief. He shook his head, blushing slightly for not knowing something he obviously should. "Well, in America, before the muggles came and over took the land, there were people there first. They were tribes of indians, known to be savages to the colonists...they lived in teepees, and hunted buffalo, and all that sort. There is the stereo type of cowboys verses indians," she explained, Ron's face lit up slightly.
"You mean native Americans?" he asked. Hermione nodded. "They were called endeans? Really? Mum always told us to play wizards and native americans, that anything else was rude."
Hermione had to laugh at this, "You're mum was right Ron, it's rude to call them indians now....very good" Ron straightened up at this, looking pleased with himself. "Oh right! So, Peter speaks to the chief of the native americans, and finds out that their princess, TigerLily, was captured and had not been returned. She was being held for ranson by Captain Hook, but the cheif thought it was the lost boys responsible...so Peter saves tigerLily after battling captain Hook in the skull cave, where he was going to leave TigerLily to drown. And he returns TigerLily to the tribe, where there is a big celebration...but while their there Wendy becomes very upset with Peter because-"
"He tried to shot down TigerLily?" Ron asked with a chuckle, Hermione gave him a bland look.
"No, because she'd seen Peter be kissed by TigerLily in gratitude, and she became jealous." Hermione clarified, as if this were a much more sensible reason for Wendy to be upset.
"So...Wendy likes Peter?"
"Yes, very much so."
"Why?"
"Well, because...Peter is Wendy's first love, its who she had always told stories about to John and Michael. She'd admired him, without actually knowing he was real. Peter was Wendy's ideal adventureous hero."
"Yeah but..." Ron flipped quickly through the pages as if to find proof to back up what he was about to say. He stopped and pointed at an illustration of a young red headed boy wearing green. "...he wore tights!" Snapping the book shut as if his point had been clearly made.
"It doesn't matter what he wore. He was Peter. He was her hero. He'd saved her from having to grow up, and taken her to this wonderful place she'd always dreamt about. She just loved him," she explained simply, as if her declaration was more obvious and reasonable then his.
"Well...thats a bit ridiculous...but I must say, he's a handsome chap, he's got the Weasley red hair!" Ron laughed approvingly, though abruptly stopped when he saw Hermione face. "Ehm...sorry...go on..."
"So Wendy heads back to the hideout, and the others follow. And that night, she realizes that Peter doesn't truly understand love, so she tells a story about mothers. And she realizes she cannot stay, or she, John and Michael would be forgotten. So they decide to go back to London, and all the lost boys decide to come along. Peter gets really angry and says to leave and never come back...so Wendy and the lost boys leave...only to be attacked outside their hideout by Captain Hook and his crew."
Ron bolted upright, taking his chin from his palm. "How did Hook know where to find them?!"
Hermione smiled deviously and answered, "Tink."
"Tink?! Well, thats a typical fearie for you, causing trouble for everyone!!!"
"Well, she thought she'd done the right thing. All she knew was that Peter was with her once more, because he'd taken her back. And Wendy was gone."
"But why do something like that?" Ron questioned.
"Well...sometimes...people do drastic things to be with the one they love." Hermione surmised from her thoughts, Ron looked half shocked and puzzled at the same time by her answer.
"And SO," she continued, "Captain Hook, leaves Tink and Peter alone...just as he'd promised Tink. Only he'd left behind a bottle of poison in Peter's medicine bottle, and before she left, Wendy asked him to take his medicine. And Peter goes to drink it, but Tink realize's what it was, and takes the poison before Peter can...and she starts to die." Ron looked a bit depressed by this, so hermione quickly assured him, "But she doesn't die, Peter brings her back to life."
"How?"
"He claps." She replied simply. Ron snorted and waited to see if she was joking or not.
"He claps?!"
Hermione nodded. She watched Ron's nose screw up as he became more confused. "In the book, Ron, faeries are brought back to life by people clapping and people admitting they believe in faeries."
"Oh...well I guess anything is possible," he figured. Though his thoughts were mainly on the idea of Tink saving Peter's life. He knew that he'd take poison knowingly to save Hermione. He wasn't so sure about Viktor.
'Would Vicky drink the poison'???

Ron continued up towards the house, his broom dragging forgottenly beside him. He marched up through the garden, with Harry's voice buzzing about in his head, "See? You are upset with Hermione getting married, and not just because it's to Viktor!"
"Of course I'm upset....to Vicky....the git!" he cursed under his breath, coming up to the kitchen door. Visciously he tore off his muddied shoes, reminding himself if he did not; his mum would go berserk and lay an egg. He opened the door with a smack of his palm, sending half the door in so he could step inside.
He hadn't realized he'd walked in on a very exciting conversation.
"We've got to have floating candles all over, you want it at night don't you Hermione?"
"Of course!"
"And we'll have to have the boy's de-gnome the garden," Mrs. Weasley chuckled as Ron entered the kitchen. His red hair sticking up slightly in the front, his clothes a bit miffed, and his cheeks flushed from what they assumed was the wind.
"What's going on?" he questioned, his tone alittle more demanding then he had intended. He watched Ginny sit straighter in her chair, a pleased look on her face. Hermione bit the corner of her lip slightly.
"Hermione's asked to have her wedding celebration here," Ginny explained. Ron felt a heat rise in his stomach.
"Since it's like her second home," his mother added proudly, tapping Hermione's hand. The hot sensation began to rise up into Ron's chest, he felt his cheeks grow warm.
"Oh." He blurted out. The burning sensation had risen into his throat and was headed for his ears.
"Thats it?" Ginny asked indignantly, looking from Hermione to her stubborn brother. "Isn't it going to be wonderful?" she asked him, her eyebrows were set in determination. Her face said 'You better damn well agree Weasley'.
"Yeah. Great." He answered flatly, walking over to the fridge. He refused to look at Hermione as he helped himself to some Pumpkin juice. Ginny shot her brother a look of pure venom, but turned back to Hermione.
"When did you want to get married?"
"August 7th I think..."Hermione replied after thinking it over for a few seconds. A large clunk turned their attention to the fridge, where ron had dropped his jar and juice. The bottle had broken and pumpkin juice splayed all over the kitchen floor and Ron.
"The 7th?!" he gasped, his mouth agape. "Thats the World Cup." He stated, as if what he said would make them all realize that that would never do.
"Oh Ron," Mrs. Weasley sighed, "I'm sure you can miss that silly Cup for one year..."
"No! No I can't!" Ron insisted. Not then. He had planned to ask Hermione to the Cup, with him and Harry, on a date. That was before the big grand news. She couldn't get married then. At this declaration, Hermione spoke up, her eyes fiery and her cheeks turning red.
"You'de actually skip my wedding to go to the World Cup?!" she demanded, glaring at him. Ron, had forgotten about the spilled mess and returned the look. "For that stupid event?!"
This hurt Ron immensely. It wasn't stupid! Hermione had always loved Quidditch as much as he had, up until Vicky had come into the picture. Bloody man! Ron felt himself slipping as his fists curled defensively. "Maybe I would!" He shot back, automatically regretting the words as he watched Hermione's eye glaze over with tears. She stood up from the table, making her way across the kitchen to him.
"You, Ron Weasley, just proved that you are more selfish then I had ever imagined!!! How could you be so cruel?! Just because you would have to miss one summer of what you see EVERY year, to see one of your best friends get married! To see me get married?!" she burst, he voice low but peircing all the same. The smaller girl glared up at her six foot friend.
Ron watched her approach him, on the brink of tears once more. She thought he would keep his word and not go, but he couldn't go. Not to see her give herself away to him. He couldn't. The World Cup was the only way out.
"Can you move the date?" he suggested, testing her to see if she'd explode before he could fix things.
"No. Ron." She replied slowly, still keeping her gaze fixed on him.
"Does harry know about the date?"
"No Harry doesn't know about the date! but then again, Harry wouldn't mind missing it, because Harry, unlike you, has feelings!!!"
"No feelings?!" he asked, laughing haughtily. Hermione nodded. "Well, maybe I was never planning on going to your wedding!"
From the table, Ginny felt the tension in the room snap as her brother spoke. Mrs. Weasley covered her face with both her hands, miserable and embarrassed enough for both herself and her son.
"You ass!" Hermione breathed, before slapping him across the face with all her might. Leaving a white mark where his face had already been burning with exceeding anger. "Dont come to the wedding! As a matter of fact, I don't want you to come! Go to your damn tournament Cup, because I don't you anywhere near me when I marry Viktor!!!"
With this, she turned and stormed out of the kitchen. Leaving the two women and Ron to watch after her. Ginny stood up from the table and followed after her best friend, "Very nice Ron," she seethed.
"We'll you've made more then a mess of things haven't you?" Mrs. Weasley asked her son, standing up from the table, pointing her wand at the mess on the floor.
Ron slammed the fridge door shut, furious with himself for saying what he did to her. This mother cleaned up the mess within a second, though he'd have to somehow fix the mess that didn't involve pumpkin juice.
"How exactly do you ever plan to get what you want, if you keep insisting on pushing it away?" she asked her son. Leaving him alone in the kicthen. Once more, he stood there with his mouth slightly open, trying to comprehend what his mother meant.
The heat in his body had ceased, yet now...he felt utterly weak and jelly-like in his stomach. Guilt and frustration surged through him, making feel as if he could choke any moment. He ran a hand through his hair, looking breifly up at the ceiling, as if it would give him his answers. He looked back down to the kitchen table, to find Harry walking into the room.
"Shut up, don't even say it," he ordered, looking at Harry, who raised an eyebrow at him. He'd heard everything, he knew he had. Harry stuck his hands in his pockets and walked over to the table, taking a seat and watching Ron. "Look...I'm sorry...it's just-"
"You love her?" Harry suggested. Never really taking offense to his friend snapping at him, he'd hung around the both of them long enough to get used to their quarrels.
Ron froze, his hand still in his tangled, red hair.
Did he? Did he love Hermione?
He opened his mouth to respond, yet somehow nothing came out. He tried again but failed, slumping down in the chair across from his best friend.
"Bloody hell..." he moaned.
Harry leaned back in his seat, smiling, very pleased with himself,
"Thought so."

Hermione slammed Ginny's bedroom door behind her as she headed for her bag. Her eyes still let dripped tears as she began to hastily wipe them away.
How could he say that?
"Well, maybe I was never planning on going to your wedding!"
The reoccuring memory of the words made her eyes burn, threatening even more tears. The anger that coursed through her, mixed with something else entirely, made her feel as if she would be sick.
The echo of footsteps leading up to the door broke her thoughts. "Ron if thats you, just go away!!!" She warned, spinning on her heels to face the doorframe. The doorknob turned slowly and the dorr creaked open, Ginny stepped into the room. "Oh...sorry Ginny."
"Look Hermione..."
"Ginny don't you dare try to defend Ron this time," she warned, drying her cheeks with her sleeve. "Not like he'd ever come up and try to apologize himself" she added venomously.
Ginny put up the palms of her hands, showing she was there in Nuetral. "Hermione, I can assure you, I'm not stepping up for my ass of a brother."
Hermione nodded, wiping off her other cheek, looking for her jacket.
"You're not thinking of moving the date are you?" Ginny asked timidly.
"No."
"Good, because I don't think you should bend on this either," Ginny clarified. She watched her best mate grab her bag and tuck her coat over her arm, "Oh Hermione, you don't have to leave..."
"No, Ginny...I'm going to go see Viktor...but I'll be back tomorrow, ok?" she amended, "I just cant stay here any longer tonight."
Ginny nodded in understanding. But before Hermione apparated she hugged her, mumbling a silent assurance into Hermione's wild hair. "Tell Viktor I say hello!"
"I will. See you tomorrow!" Hermione replied, quickly disapearing with a pop.
Ginny stood for a moment in her room, dwelling on how exactly she'd approach Ron. Though this reflection took meer seconds as she was headed out the door and back down the stairs.
* * * * * * * *
"You've put your foot in it this time..."Harry sighed, after Ron quickly filled him in on what exactly was said between Hermione and himself.
"I know...I know..." Ron sighed in agreement, massaging his temples avidly. Just as footsteps came echoing down the stairs, and acroos the living room into the kitchen. Ginny came stomping across the wooden floors, headed straight for her brother.
"I thought Percy was the ass of the family, but now you've gone and proved me wrong, haven't you?!" she asked him, putting her left hand on her hip and the other on the table. She ominously leaned towards him, glaring.
"Is Hermione still here?" Harry asked, thinking perhaps it'd be good if he helped Ginny smooth things over.
"No, she's gone to Viktors." Ginny answered. Harry flinched even before Ron could react.
"For the night I suppose..." Ron mumbled darkly, one hand still on his temple. The other had become balled into a fist, lying stiffly on the table top.
Ginny glanced at Harry. Harry rubbed the back of his neck slowly, as if he were working out a very long Arithmacy calculation. "I suppose so," she agreed, getting a surprised look from Harry.
Ron's shoulders visibly tensed as his sister spoke, yet he remained silent. Ginny took this oppurtunity to inform him of Hermione's reappearance the next day. "You can apologize to her then," she informed him.

"I don't think Hermione is going to willingly accept an apology this time," Harry reminded Ginny. Ginny sighed heavily and looked down at her brother.
"I know..."she replied, taking a seat next to Harry. "But whatever you say, it better be good." She said this with great emphasis, glaring at her brother until he looked up. "Why exactly is the particular Quidditch World cup soo important?"
Ron, rubbed his chin, embarassed for what he was about to say, "I was going to ask Hermione to go with me and Harry."
"You do that every year," Ginny pointed out. Ron's face reddened slightly.
"Well...not like that..."he mumbled, Ginny caught this and gasped inwardly. Her jaw dropped open in surprise.
"Ron Weasley!!!You were going to ask Hermione out on a date?!"
Ron nodded. "I was just a tad too slow as it seems," he commented mournfully. Ginny's face contorted to show her sympathy, she seemed to understand more, why he'd been so upset before.
"But...you didn't know about their engagement before?" she asked curiously.
"Know? Ron nearly choked to death when she told us!" Harry laughed. "We were as surprised as you were." This seemed to confuse her immensely, "Didn't you know Ginny?"
Ginny shook her head, puzzled. "No...but I can see why she kept it quiet," she reasoned out loud, glancing at her brother across the table. She thought to herself for a moment before speaking, then asked Ron what she'd been dying to ask for years. "Did you realize you love her yet?"
Harry grinned as he turned his gaze to Ron, watching him try to spit the words of acceptance out onto the table.
"Well?" she persisted. Harry was supressing laughter now. He knew Ron wanted to confess this newly discovered emotion to Ginny last of all.
"I do love Hermione...but it's too late now." He finally said, choking out the last bit as if if tasted like Skele-Grow.
"You're absolutely right Ron, it is too late," Ginny agreed, though her tone hinted that she didn't believe the words that came out of her mouth. A grin peeked from the corner of her mouth, shooting a knowing look Harry's way.
"Yeah, sorry mate," Harry consoled, his tone full of false sadness. As if on cue, he arose from the table with Ginny, slapping Ron good naturedly on the back. And then left the kitchen, to give Ron time alone with his thoughts. Which Harry and Ginny both shared the hope of these thoughts, turning into a plan...

"You're absolutely correct, George!"

"Yeah, and more difficult for us..."
"He better appreciate what we're doing for him."

Dear Hermione,
Hermione...oh damn I dont even know how to begin to say how bad I feel for saying what I did. Next to Harry, you're my closest mate, and I would never mean what I said because then I could loss you. That would be like a life without dungbombs...dreadful. Oh right, my apology....look Hermione I can only write how terrible I feel about saying those things to you. I do want to be at your wedding, I wouldn't miss it for anything. I'm sorry for exploding on you, I was just so shocked to hear the news about you and...viktor. There, see? I can be civil! Ha! Well, I can only hope you'll except my apology. I would have come in person, but Harry and ginny didn't advice it. Showing up on Viktor's doorstep wouldn't exactly encourage you to listen, they said. But I hope that you do forgive my horrible words, at least just a little. Next time you're at the Burrow, if you want that is, I'd really like to speak to you in private.

Ron
"What do you think?"
"I think we should be getting paid."
"Think she'll go for it?"
"Of course, she loves him, so she'll forgive him. That's how woman work!"
"So, then why is she marrying Krum?"
"I simply don't know mate...thats our next assignment I guess."
George attached the message to an overly zealous Pig, and let him out the window. Plummeting a bit under the weight, but quickly headed up into the sky.

Hermione popped up on Viktor's doorstep, still teary and red about her eyes. Slowly she breathed in and out, running a hand absently through her hair. It wouldn't help matters if Viktor saw her like this, he might even go over to the Weasley's and fight Ron. Though she wouldn't mind seeing the git socked good, at the moment.
She let out a long breath, shaking herself out, then knocked on the door. Only to have the door be opened a moment later, a familuar smell of Malt Wine and the view a hooked nose greeted her. She smiled, "Hello," she sighed, feigning happiness.
"Mione', vat iz wrong?" he asked her, gently pulling her through the doorway into the house. He could not be fooled by her glued smile, and automatically sensed she was upset. He had begun calling her by her nickname, after he'd heard Harry use it when they went to watch his last match. He'd asked to adopt it, since it was easier to say then 'Hermione'. "Tell me."
With these words, Hermione broke down once more, only this time she was pulled into the warmth of his sweater. She felt his arms wrap around her, his hand on her head.
"Are you urt?"he asked, worry in his tone. She shook her head, hearing him sigh with relief as she did so.
"No, no I'm not hurt," she assured him. "It's just...well I told the Weasleys...and..."
"They do not want to ave' the vedding zelemonie dere?" he guessed, "Do not vorry Mione, ve can find anoder place," he promised, kissing the crest of her wavy hair.
"No, they were really happy to have it there, it's just...well Ron didn't take it well. As a matter of fact, he didn't take it at all. He insists he wont come to the wedding, since it's on the day of the World Cup," she explained in a long breath, bitterness in her voice. Viktor's eyes darkened slightly at her explanation.
"Don' vorry I vill talk wit Ron'"he promised, pulling her away slightly to look into her eyes. Hermione hesitated, but he stopped her from speaking. "No, I vill do zo to 'orrow." Hermione sighed, and nodded.

The morning came quickly to the Burrow, the rising sun cast a tangerine light into the kitchen. Mrs.Weasley was up and about, cooking a pancake breakfast for her her herd of children, just as she did every morning.
She flipped through the 'Gilderoy Lockhart Quick Cookbook For Modern Day Witches' with the tip of her wand, blushing as she passed the numerous winking pictures of the attractive author.
"Am I interupting something?" Ginny asked, coming into the kitchen and sitting next to her mother. She grinned mischeviously as her mother quickly shut the book.
"No dear," she answered a bit stiffly, folding her arms over the cover. Lockhart on the cover tried to get around her arms to be seen.
"Mum, I can assure you, though he is attractive, Mr. gilderoy lacks any form of good qualities...such as bravery, honesty, and modesty." She pointed out, raising an eyebrow as the Lockhart winked in her direction.
"I know dear...and your father is a much better choice. With all the good qualities," she cooed, slamming the cover face down on the table. Ginny patted her mother on the shoulder as she got up and headed for the fridge.
Pig cut off her path to the fridge, as he swooped down upon her excitedly, nipping at her red hair.
"Pig! Stop that!" she shooed, the tiny owl setting the the door handle of the fridge. He offered his claw proudly, showing a small peice of paper marked 'Ginny'. "Alright, alright..."she sighed, pulling the scrap from Pig's leg. Quickly she unrolled the parchament and scanned what was written. "Oh god." She groaned, her face twisting in dismay.
"What is it dear?" Mrs. Weasley asked quickly, getting up.
"Ginny," she read, "I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Viktor would like to come over to the Burrow with me today. I tried to dissuade him, but he insists. He also wants to speak to Ron. You must get Ron out of the house for the day. Sorry for such short notice. Hermione...." she finished. Mrs.Weasley sighed deeply at hearing the contents of the letter. Ginny leaned against the fridge, thinking for a moment.
"Harry can take him to Diagon Alley," her mother suggested, her face hopeful. Ginny bit her lip, nodding.
"Maybe..."she pushed herself from the fridge, and headed towards the living room, "I'll go ask Harr-" She began, but was cut off as she ran right into the man she was going to look for.
"Sorry Ginny!" he apologized, "You okay?" She nodded and grabbed his arm, leading him into the kitchen.
"We've got a problem."
Harry raised an eyebrow curiously, "Why? What's wrong?"
"Viktor's coming." She replied, showing him the letter from Hermione.
"Here?" he repeated, in disbelief.
"Here." Mrs. Weasley clarified with a sigh, as if suddenly very tired.
"That's a rather large problem..." he agreed, rubbing the back of his wild hair thoughtfully, "You want to get him out of the house...."
"Perhaps, Harry dear, you could offer to take Ron to the new Quidditch shop in diagon Alley. for the day," Molly suggested, Harry nodded.
"Sure, that might work...and I promised ot visit Hagrid sometime soon...that should take up the whole day," he figured out loud.
"Is he up yet?" Ginny asked wearily. Harry shrugged.
"Ginny!" Mrs. Weasley laughed,"since when does Ron ever get up before ten?! You'd have to dump him into the rain barrell a few times!" she chuckled, turning to keep an eye on her hotcakes. Turning a few with a flick of her wand.
"That might work...but I have another idea...." Harry started as he ran towards the living room, his footsteps beating as he headed up the stairs.
Harry climbed the steps, three at a time, and grabbed onto Ron's doorknob. He slammed the door open, to see a lumpy red head sticking oddly under the covers.
"Ron! Quidditch! Now! Up!"

Harry stood momentarily, hanging from the doorknob, waiting for a sign of life to come from Ron. Who, was tangled in the bed spread shifting to his other side mumbling, "mmph...nowibudder....No Butter!" He sat up straight, looking about the room groggily, still half asleep.
"Right then," Harry sighed impatiently, pulling the covers off the bed, with ron still tangled in them.
"Hey wha-ow!" He yelped, after slamming the floor rather hard on the bum.
"You need to get up." Harry insisted, looking down at his scowling friend.
"Why?!"
"Because the new Quidditch shop in diagon Alley opens today, thats why," he replied, watching Ron awaken a great deal more quickly after these words. His friend promptly shot up from the floor and towards a pile of clothes across the room.
"The Pitch!!!I forgot it opened today!!!Why didn't you wake me up sooner?!?!Now we'll have to wait in line, back with the over crazed Quidditch fans," he mumbled more to himself then to Harry. He grabbed a pair of jeans and a kelly green t-shirt from the laundry pile. He yanked the shirt over his head, dodging about to find his sneakers.
After his head was through the correct hole, he began to tackle putting on the pants while still moving about the room.
"And we wouldn't be one of those two fans?" Harry asked rhetorically, Ron snorted.
'Course' not! I mean, blimey Harry, you're the seeker for the Cannons! That sends you up about five levels above the others doesn't it?" he asked. He quickly shoved on a sneaker, while the other hung from his mouth by the laces.
"Hurry up!' Harry urged. Only just before Ron slammed on his other shoe and threw up his hands to show he was infact done.
"Lets go!" he shouted, turning his heel and running out the door and down the stairs at full speed.
Harry followed quickly behind, trying to keep up.
"Are we going by floo powder then?" he asked wearily. Ron didn't answer, as he skidded to a stop across the wooden floor. His sneakers making a sqeauling sound.
"OoF!" Harry coughed as he ran smack into Ron, unable to stop in time. "Ron?" He asked, not exactly sure why his friend hadn't noticed. Until, his eyes followed Rons', and he realized who or what was in the living room.
Ginny sat beside her mother on the couch, with Hermione sitting across from them. Along side her was Viktor Krum himself.
'Oh good God....'Harry moaned internally.
Krum stood to welcome them into the room, he nodded to them both. Hermione looked quickly from Ginny to Harry to Ron to Ginny then back to Ron again. She bit her lower lip like she always did when she was anxious.
It seemed as if everyone in the room , but Viktor, was holding their breath.

Ron raised his chin, his back stiffening, actions only Harry and Hermione could read. They screamed 'Him.'
Harry exchanged glances with Ginny, who seemed less anxious out of fear but out of curiosity to see how Ron would take the situation. Hermione, on the other hand, looked as if she were wishing it was all a bad nightmare.
Ron swallowed some air, hoping it didn't make too obvious of a gulping sound. Vichy stood just feet away from him, still holding onto Hermione's hand. His Hermione. In his living room. With his mother. Perhaps the others didn't quite see the insinuating slap in the face, that he was envisioning before him right then. Something tugged in his stomach as he watched Hermione, whose hand seemed to hang limply in Krum's.
He just couldn't do it to her. He'd already hurt her once, it still showed in her gaze when she look back at him. Everything that went against Ron's male instincts of hate pushed forward. He nodded back at Viktor.
"Viktor." He welcomed, his tone a bit flat, yet better then any ranting or raving. He took the hand Krum offered, shaking it. He stepped back, allowing Harry to soak up some attention.
"Ah, Arry' ow nice to see you," Viktor spoke, offering his hand again. "Mione and I, saw you pla' vast eek," he explained, showing his respect for harry's flying. "You pulled oof ze flyeng fein' verry vell," he complimented.
"Thanks," Harry replied, trying to remain modest while hiding a blush of embarassment and pride. "And congratulations on your engagement," he added quickly. Krum's smile widened as he nodded.
"Yeahitsgreat," Ron mumbled, quickly walking over to kiss his mom on the cheek. With a nod to the room, he then turned and walked into the kitchen.
"Uh, bye!" Harry sputtered as he followed after Ron.
"Can we please get out of here?!" Ron hissed under his breath, grabbing a pancake from the plate on the table. Rolling it up and taking a large bite from it.
"Ron-"
"Please Harry," Ron cut in. Harry gave up and nodded.
"Alright, lets go," he sighed. Popping out of sight after he spoke, leaving Ron to pause, staring in the direction of the living room, before popping off himself.

Hermione watched as Ron quietly left the room, his back disapearing around the corner. Harry, glanced at Hermione before following in his friend's footsteps.
Her heart sank a bit. He hadn't reacted as she'd dreaded he would. ron had actually walked away. Had he done it for her? Had he done it so he wouldn't spill blood all over the furniture? It didn't make sense, he'd been furious the night before...
Hermione's eyebrows subconciously knitted in confusion, Viktor noticed this. "Ar' you alvight, Mione?" he asked, sitting back down beside her. He traced the back of her hand with his thumb, as he always did when he knew she was nervous.
"Hmm? Yes, I'm fine," she replied, quickly returning his gaze as she realized she'd been staring off. She offered a smile to prove to him she was okay. He bent over her, kissing her forehead.
"You ze? It did not go bad-lee," he pointed out, smiling encouragingly. "Roon seems very 'appy for you."
Ginny's eyes widened a bit, as she looked down to the floor to hide her facial sarcasm. He couldn't be more wrong. She precariously wiped her nose, try to avoid Krum's attention, though Hermione had seen the face she'd made.
"Mione, she tells me, you ave' agreed to ave' de wedding celebration 'ere," Viktor informed Mrs. Weasley, smiling sheepishly as he spoke. Molly laughed.
"Ahh, well of course we agreed! Hermione is our second daughter, we'd love to have your wedding celebration here! I couldn't be any happier to," she explained heartily, truly beaming as she called Hermione her "second daughter". Viktor nodded as he listened.
"Ave' you told them of de wedding change?" he asked Hermione curiously. Ginny looked up from the floor at these words, her eyes questioningly set on her best friend.
"No...what change dear?"Mrs. Weasley asked. Hermione shifted a bit on the love seat, looking from Viktor to Ginny and her mother.
"We'de like to get married..." she started, trailing off to look Viktor in the eyes. He looked down on her admiringly, just as he always had."....next week." Hermione finished, biting the inside of her lip as she waited for a reply.
"Next week?" Ginny echoed, in slight disbelief. When did this happen?
'Oh, thats right, when Ron made a complete ass of himself and Hermione left the house as fast as a Cornish Pixie. Thats when.'
"Next week...well...I don't see how that should be a problem," Molly reasoned, looking to Ginny,"but with such short notice, it will have to be smaller," she explained.
"No, no, that's fine!" Hermione amended, "We never really wanted anything big," she added.
"Well, as long as it isn't the whole of Britian," Molly teased, with a small laugh. "We'll just have to start planning right away then, is all!"
"You're absolutely right!" Ginny chimed in, standing up as she spoke. "Mum, I'm going to go to London and get some ideas for the celebration," she informed her mother, turning to bid Hermione and Viktor farewell. Then ran up the stairs and to her room.
"Lovely idea Ginny!" Her mother called after her, listening to the footsteps race up the stairs.
Ginny burst into her room, quickly looking about for her cardigan. Grabbing it off the back off her door, she pulled her wand from her front pocket and was off to 'The Pitch' with a sudden pop.
* * * * * * * *
I figured the only way to make it entertaining over a "months period" to get ready for the wedding will only work if I show it to you. So hence why I decided to speed it up a bit. A week isnt too much to pull through eh? LOL, thats my excuse for pressing time a bit.

"God, look at this line!" Ron groaned, obviously trying to take his mind off of Hermione and Viktor. Though he stood a near half a foot above everyone else in the line, he stretched onto his toes to see further. A long line of wizard Quidditch enthusiasts wrapped around the cobbled streets of diagon Alley, clear past the corner of Gringotts and on. "We'll be here for ages!" He slumped back down onto the soles of his sneakers, sighing deeply with frustration.
"Relax Ron," Harry coaxed, deciding that standing in line for two hours was far better spent, than two hours sitting with Krum in Ron's living room.
"Bloody hell..."Ron murmured, forking his red hair through his fingers slowly. He titled his chin, looking up at the cloudy patched blue sky above them. Harry observed him for a moment, before actually speaking up.
"Ron...you know-"
"No, Harry, I bloody well cant." Ron answered flatly, before Harry even had time to form the next word. Kicking the loose cobblestones with the worn toe of his sneaker, his hands shoved quickly into his pants pockets.
"And why not?" Harry retorted, trying to see Ron's reasoning for things.
"Because."
"Ron, thats stupid. And not even a good answer." Harry baited, watching his friend struggling to find the right words.
"I can't-well-because she's-well........because she's happy with Krum!!!Thats why." He answered, putting a great emphasis on the last bit of sentance. Sticking his hand infront of Harry, as if pointly to the obvious as if it stood a foot from Harry. He trailed off, looking back down at his feet. "Besides!" he suddenly burst, "she hates me as it is, doesn't want me to come to the wedding! Think she'll let me near her anytime before then?" he asked Harry sarcastically.
Harry opened his mouth to respond, when a familiar shout rose up behind them.
"Harry!"
Ron and Harry, turned around in unison, looking for who exactly was shouting. A skinny, red headed figure was running towards them, "Harry!"
"Ginny?!" Ron shouted back in confusion, watching his little sister jump up onto the walk. She skidded to a halt infront of them, clutching her chest.
"Harry....I've got....really.....bad....news. Bad news." She began to explain, through short bursts of breath. Her cheeks were flushed slightly, her hair falling out of its ponytail around the ears.
"Whats wrong?" Harry asked. Ginny leaned in a bit, a serious, worried look in her gaze.
"What? Did Krum bite the big one then?" Ron wondered jokingly, chuckling. Ginny shot him a tired look, rolling her eyes as she turned back to Harry.
"Theres...a problem. We need to talk. Now" She explained, her eyes secretly trying to tell him to give them some privacy. The last word from her mouth was enough, Harry's eyebrow rose, yet he nodded.
"Ron, could you give us a minute?" he asked. Ron made a face. "Here!" Harry sighed, putting two sickles into Ron's palm, "can you go get us some ice creams?"
Ron looked down in his hand, and then back up at Harry. "Fair enough then," he shrugged, turning and heading into the direction of the ice cream parlor. Harry turned back to Ginny, as soon as Ron fell out of ear shot. He grabbed her shoulders.
"Ginny? Whats happened?" he asked. Ginny shook her head, still trying to catch her breath. "What is it?"
"Hermione and Viktor, their getting married next week." She explained in exasperation.
"Next week?!" Harry hissed in disbelief, letting go of her. "When did this happen?!"
"Viktor just told us, back at the house. Next week Harry!!! Hermione must have been really upset last night, and moved up the date. She's not going to wait much longer I dont think...but next week!"
"Oh no..." he groaned, covering his forehead with his hands. Trying to think of something, yet it left him blank.
"What are we going to do?" Ginny wondered out loud, she looked up at Harry, "there's no way we can get her to change her mind. You didn't see her last night, she was..."
"Heartbroken?"
"Yes!! Oh God Harry, Ron could fix things in about a month...but in a week?! And, viktor came to the house to talk to Ron. Hermione sent me a note early this morning, warning me to get him out of the house...this cannot be good...."
"No it cant," Harry agreed.
"Do we tell Ron?"
Harry thought to himself for a moment. He dreaded the very question himself. Finally he nodded, "We have to." Ginny nodded in agreement, though her face didn't exactly reflect aquiesence to the idea.

Hermione sat on the Weasley's couch alongside Viktor, while Mrs. Weasley asked them about the celebration details.
"Hermione said she'd like to have it at night," Molly informed the boy, he nodded.
"Yes, night vould be goud," he agreed.
"Marvelous...Ginny will be so excited to help arrange things, she does have quite an artistic side after all," she confided, chuckling. Just as an overexcited hooting filled the room, as a small feathered Pig came swooping in. Gliding in circles about Hermione's head.
"Pig! No, no Ron isn't here! No! Shoo!" she groaned, batting the small creature above her head. Pig dodged each half hearted swat playfully, dropping a small roll of parchment onto her head.
Finally, Hermione sighed in defeat as she pulled the note out of her hair, "fine, I'll make sure Ron gets..."
She trialed off, her finger going over the writting on the outer roll of the parchment; 'Hermione' was written in black messy writing.
"Mione? Is everything alright dear?" Molly asked. Hermione nodded and stood up from the couch.
"Hmm? Oh, yes...this is for Ron...I'll go put it in his room," she offered, heading up the spiral staircase that stood just behind the love seat. "Be right back," she promised. Her heart beating just a bit faster when she thought of what she held. Quickly she walked the steps to Ron's room, she pushed thoughtlessly past the Ronald sign and closed the door gently behind her. Carefully, she unrolled the parchment, quickly scanning what was written.
Dear Hermione....
She finished the letter, her mouth slightly agape as she finished.....'Love, Your Friend, Ron'. She let the parchment reroll itself, as her hand dropped dully to her side, as she looked up at the ceiling. Tears threatened as they sparkled along her eyelashes, quickly she willed them away with a deep breath.
"Damn you Ron..."
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Here you go Harry..." Ron anounced proudly, handing his friend a slightly melted chocolate ice cream cone. "And Ginny...they didn't have your flavor," he embelished, making a guilty face.
"You ate it didn't you?" she asked plainly. Her brother gasped, feigning innocence.
"Ron." Harry sighed, trying not to laugh. Ron's face went back to a guilty grin.
"Okay, so I did," he confessed, "So, why exactly did I have to be left out of the conversation?" he asked curiously, suddenly shifting the topic. Ginny glanced at harry from the corner of her eye.
"You want to tell him?" she asked him.
"Tell me what exactly?" Ron echoed, looking a bit worried. Harry groaned on the inside, and nodded.
"Look, Ron...there's been a change of plan...Hermione is getting married next week."
There. It was out for Ron to swallow.
The only time Harry had seen the face his friend made, was when Scabbers transformed back into a filthy, partially clothed Peter Pettigrew. Bitter outrage, disbelief, shock, and sadness fused into grimace on Ron's face. He gulped loudly, not able or willing to speak for a few moments, then nodded.
"Ron..."Ginny began, but he stopped her, putting his hand up.
He thought for a second, and then nodded to himself. Then glanced at his sister and best mate, he nodded again as if he were assuring himself of something.
"I have to go," he announced, turning on his heel and headed down the alley, past the line of Quidditch fans.
"Ron!" Ginny yelled starting after him. Harry grabbed her lightly below the elbow, shaking his head.
"Let him go," he told her, pulling back on her so she'd step back.
"What?! Why?" she argued, looking up at Harry as if he were crazy. She pulled resoundly against his grip.
"He needs to think about things."
"He can't just give up like that! That's NOT how its supposed to go." She growled under her breath, watching her brother disapear around Gringotts.
Harry pulled her about to face him, still holding onto her elbow, though he really wasn't holding her that tightly. "Ginny. He's not given up. Let him be," he breathed calmly. Ginny looked up at him, her chin up at his chest, quiet. Harry looked down at his best friend's little sister, her cheeks slightly flushed, wisps of red hair about her eyes. She seemed to calm down in his grasp, though it had been his gaze that silenced her. He knew no different.
Harry was proud to see her, just as stubborn and brave as her brother had turned out to be. He still held her elbow.
Ginny looked up into the eyes she could have easily drowned in five years ago at school. And very well still could. Her arm still in his grasp.
"Move up!" the wizard behind them shouted anxiously, knocking them both from their thoughts. Their gaze broke. Harry looked up to see the line was now moving, a good six paces between them and the line. He softly dropped Ginny's elbow as she similtaneously pulled out of his grasp.
"Sorry," Harry apologized in a mumble, glancing at Ginny. Who was deliberately looking away now. "Come on then," he sighed, filling the gape in the line to appease the wizards behind them. Ginny nodded, moving alongside him.
"Now what do we do?" she asked him, for once not exactly sure herself. Harry looked down beside him, and shrugged.
"I'm not sure...it's up to them now," he reasoned. Ginny nodded slowly, in deeper thought of something else entirely.

"Okay, so Tink drinks the poison, but she lives?" Ron stumbled, trying to get the story straight. Hermione nodded.
"Right."
"Then what?"
Hermione grinned suspiciously, "I was under the understanding that you thought this story was a bunch of rubbish?" she asked him, he shrugged.
"I'm learning Mione, you always want me to learn," he pointed out in his defense. Hermione rolled her eyes at this excuse, and tried to supress another grin. Ron motioned impatiently for her to continue on.
"So, Hook has captured Wendy and the Lost Boys...and takes them onto his ship. He thinks Peter is dead, so he's about to lead Wendy and the others to the plank-"
"The plank? Whats that?"
"The plank...its a board, that extends off the ship and prisoners of pirates walk off it-"
"So, they just swim away, what's the threat?"
Hermione gave him another look.
"Sorry. Go ahead..."
"They would tie them up, with an anchor tied to their feet."
"Oh."
Hermione nodded as she watched Ron's face flicker with discomfort, rubbing his own ankle.
"So, Hook's about to lead Wendy off the plank, and when she jumps-"
"They really push her off?!"
"There isn't a splash."
"Huh? No splash?"
"No splash."
"Oh wait! I get it, she apparated before she hit the water! That's pretty smart," Ron suddenly figured out, as if the answer were obvious.
"Ron. There is no apparating in Neverland." Hermione patiently reminded him. His brow furrowed in confusion once more.
"Well then what happened to her?!"
"Peter saved her."
"Oh...right. Forgot about him for a second..."
"Stay with me Ron," Hermione laughed. "So, Peter saves Wendy from drowning...and hides her while he tries to free the Lost Boys. And he battles with Hook, this twelve year old boy, against a grown man..."
Ron thought about that for a moment, trying to imagine what it would be like going up against a grown man with a big sword when you're that small. Not like he hadn't done it before, with Voldemort and the like...but this was different. Almost like going into battle against someone who is much higher than you, has a head start....

Harry and Ginny returned to the Burrow, just as a slight uproar had begun in the kitchen.
"Mum?!" Ginny called, ducking as a pan of hot biscuits whizzed right where her head had been. Silverware flew about as if a 'V' of geese heading south for winter.
"Yes darling! I'm out here!" her mother called, sounding as cheery as ever. Ginny looked at Harry with equal confusion that spread across his face, shrugged, and headed out to the garden.
"Watch your head Harry dear," Mrs. Weasley called, as she spotted the two stepping out onto the garden walk. A chair flew up behind Harry, knocking past him, setting itself with the other nine chairs surrounding the table.
"Oof!"
"Sorry dear!"
Harry rubbed his bruised shoulder absently, as he approached Hermione. She stood, pointing her wand at the kitchen window, more food flying about inside and out the door.
"Hello Harry!" she greeted, putting her arm down for a moment. "How was 'The Pitch'?" She asked casually, Harry noted her eyes flick to the kitchen door, as if another should pass through it. And didn't.
"It was great!" he answered, avoiding the bit of information about the manager dragging him to the front of the store, insisting he sign autographs. Only Ginny had gotten him out of the spotlight when she pulled a faint, due to her "claustrophobia".
He'd sworn he to keep those events quiet...
"Get anything interesting?"
"Just some new broom wax, I finally ran out from the kit you gave me," he replied, watching her beam with pride, he'd used the gift well. He took a seat by his usual spot at the end of the table, the food flying before him.
"Dinner!!!!" Molly shouted towards the house, the echo soon deafened by the tramping of Weasley feet. George and Fred were the first to come running, grease smeared on their cheeks and arms. "Honestly!" their mother sighed, shooting them a harsh look.
"Business." Fred explained simply. His brother nodded in agreement.
Quickly, the table filled up, except for Ron's seat next to Harry. Which everyone seemed to ignore, more for the comfort of Hermione, then keeping things looking smooth for Krum. Who sat next to Hermione, eyeing the feast before him.
"This es' truly a fine mill, Missus Veasley," he complimented, as everyone began to dig in. "Vill this be at de ceremony?" Mrs. Weasley giggled, turning slightly red with embarassment. The twins exchanged amused glances over their turkey & gravy sandwiches.
After dinner, the table was quickly cleared, with the plates and silverware safely in the sink being scrubbed. Hermione said goodbye to Krum out in the garden, as Harry, Ginny and the twins sat in the kitchen talking over pumpkin juice.
Ginny watched the two of them out the open window, absently tugging at her lower lip with her teeth.
"Did Pig come around today?" George asked randomly. Ginny shook her head.
"He had a letter for Ron, but nothing for you two. Why?"
"Just wondering..."
"Blackmailing someone else?" Harry asked with a chuckle.
"Blackmail?!" Fred gasped, feigning indignation, "You cut us to the core my dear boy!"
"Deeply," his twin added. Harry shook his head, still laughing.
"What do you think?" Ginny wondered out loud, looking at the her two borhters. She nodded towards the window, where Krum was kissing Hermione farewell.
"I think Ron needs to get a bloody move on," Fred declared, smacking his jug down after downing the remainder of its warm, orange contents.
"How exactly, my handsome brother, is he supposed to get ahead when he isn't even here?"
"Excellent point, brother!"
"What about Krum? He loves her..."Harry thought out loud with a murmur, looking stressed about getting rid of him.
"Maybe, but it's not the right kind..."
"S'not meant to be mate," Fred explained, Ginny nodded in full agreement.
"Krum would find someone else," she added, "But Ron...he'll never move on from Hermione." Her brothers nodded their heads, as if the fact as sad yet true.
"Well-"
"Ehm!" Ginny muffled a cough in her fist, pretending to have choked on some Pumpkin juice as Hermione came into the kitchen.
"Are you alright Ginny?" Hermione asked, concerned. Ginny nodded as her fit subsided.
"Went down the wrong tube," she gasped, covering her mouth to hide her grin. Hermione grinned, a bit relieved that Ginny wasn't becoming sick.
"Well," Fred burst forth suddenly, "Ron said he'd be home by now..." he trailed off looking at his watch. His twin followed suit, plastering a worried look on his face.
"Yeah...maybe we should go and look for him," he suggested, pushing his chair back as if to get up. Fred shook his head.
"Nah, Ron's a big boy, he can manage for himself. I just hope he didn't wander down into Knockturn...."
Fred waved his hand dismissively. "Nah. Don't worry. I'm going to bed."
"Me too."Ginny sighed, getting up out of her chair slowly, as if it were a very difficult task. Harry got to his feet as well.
"I'm going to stay up awhile I think," Hermione explained, "I'm not very tired." Ginny nodded, hugging her friend goodnight, then followed her brothers into the living room and up the stairs.
Hermione was left in the kitchen, all alone, to worry about Ron. Why hadn't he shown up for dinner? Where was he? Why didn't anyone know where he was? Ron was never that irresponsible. And Hermione was going to wait up fo him, to tell him exactly that.
Though, she chewed a strand of hair nervously, still worrying.
'Oh God, please let him be alright...'

The old, worn floor boards creaked beneath Ron's old ratty sneakers as he crept into the kitchen. He paused for a moment, shifting his weight onto his other foot, he listened for a moment. Convinced that he wouldn't wake his mother he continued towards the living room, his eyes focusing in the darkness around him. Except for a pale light...
Ron shifted his gaze to the kitchen table, where Hermione lay sound asleep across an old book. Her head resting in her arms, her face nearly hidden by the brown curls. Her wand lay in between the pages, the tip giving off a warm, white light.
Ron felt a knot pull his stomach together, as he gazed upon her. Another pang of regret shot through him, as he thought of their last words in the kitchen. The hurt look across her face, that could never be put into real words.
How he desperately wanted to pull her small form into his arms, and whisper how sorry he was into her ear. But there was no way in hell she'd let him near now. Without realizing it, he crept closer behind her.
"I'm sorry Mione," he whispered, running his plam lightly across her hair, pushing a strand off of her face. His finger tips lingered for a moment until he willed himself to finally pull away. She murmered something lightly in her sleep, smiling. Ron stepped away from his best friend, lying asleep upon his kitchen table.
He walked into the living room, not letting himself stop again, he reached the stairs.
"G'night Hermione..."
As Ron walked up to his room, Hermione's face curled into confusion as she dreamed on, her mouth parting slightly to let a sigh escape. "Ron..."

*ahhhhhhhhhh* It makes me want to squeeze a pillow. The whole Ron/Hermione bit at the end was so cute I wanted to die. Hopefully, Hermione will realize how silly she is being and turn to the red head.......if only Vicky would get stabbed!
hehe maybe Fred and George could do it

Hermione woke up the next morning with a rather painful ache in her neck. She massaged it slowly, wondering why noone had bothered to wake her up to send her off to bed.
'Oh wait, thats right...I was waiting up for Ron.'
No one knew she was downstairs except herself, and Ron, if he'd even decided to come home last night. Which, accounting for his behavior the past two days, even she could not predict. She gasped when she reliezed her wand was still lit, quickly she murmered the incantation and the light dimmed to nothing. She sighed, always wondering if her wand had some sort of battery to last that long. Though, she knew this was an old muggle world thought nagging her, and didn't exactly apply to magic.
She stood up from her chair, stretching outslowly as she stood up straight, her arms unfurled as far as they'd stretch. Her eyes shot for the clock, an old habit, realizing it only said where the family members were. And not the proper time. Everyone's hand pointed to home, which threw Hermione off for a moment.
If Ron had come home, why hadn't he woken her? He could have. Her neck would surely have been grateful to him in the morning. She stared at the clock a few seconds more, then decided not to worry about it. She rubbed her eyes, trying to clear what little bit of sleep that was still fogging her senses.
The sun was crept up over the trees, the sky painted a deep cascade of oranges and reds. It couldn't be any later then six o' clock...so where was Mrs. Weasley?
This question was soon answered when Hermione backed into something short, plump, and warm behind her. She gasped, spinning around to hear Mrs. Weasley chuckling.
"Good morning my dear!" she cooed, laughing off their small collison. "You're up awfully early this morning, aren't you?" She wondered, as she stepped over to the stove to turn it on. Hermione smiled sheepishly, as if she'd been caught.
"Actually, I-"
"Fell asleep downstairs? Waiting for Ron to come home perhaps?" the small woman finished, pulling a pan from out of the cupboard. A small, knowing grin on her face. Hermione closed her mouth, looking a bit surprised that she'd guessed so easily. Molly saw her face and laughed, "I am a mother you know."
Hermione grinned, she couldn't argue with that. Mrs. Weasley had the sixth sense of motherhood down pat, having seven children and all.
"Fell asleep on the job..." she confessed.
"Well, he's home and that's all that I care, besides it isn't your job to worry over his skin."
Hermione shrugged, thinking back to how she'd always worried about him and Harry back at hogwarts. It was something she'd never quite grow out of. "I think I'm going to go upstairs and lie down..." she decided, turning to head into the living room.
"Mh Hm.." Molly murmered as she began to pull out the pancake ingredients, which automatically began mixing themselves together in the bowl on the counter.
Hermione quietly made her way up the winding stairs to Ginny's room, attempting to remember where are the creaky lose steps were. She made her way up, two by one, by two and a half, by one, by one until she came to the door labelled 'Virginia'. Quietly, she pushed open the door, pausing to see if Ron or Harry were woken by her racket. Satisfied when she heard nothing, she stepped into Ginny's room and closed the door silently behind her.
"Fred!" Hermione hissed, when she saw the twins rooting through Ginny's desk drawer. "Get out! You're going to wake her up!" She motioned to shoo them out the door.
"Nah, she'll sleep through anything!" George laughed, proving his point by poking his wand against Ginny's left nostil, holding it shut. Ginny simply continued to slumber, unaware of George bothering her. "See?"
"What do you want?!" she demanded, still in a whisper. Fred rolled his eyes, looking a bit annoyed with her.
"Nothing you need to know about," he assured her, digging about in her jewelry box. "Ah...there it is...." he sighed, pulling out a very small, struggling toy soldier from the tangles of chains and earrings.
"Got him?" George asked, closing the desk drawer. His twin nodded, shoving the soldier into his pants pocket. Hermione stood staring at them for a moment, knowing not whether to scold them or laugh at them.
"Good morrow then!" Fred announced, heading for the door with his mirror image following behind him. Quickly leaving the room, without bothering to be quit about it. The door smacked shut, Hermione braced, thinking Ginny would sit up angrilly in bed. Though she didn't.
"You do sleep through everything," she chuckled, moving across the room to her small guest bed in the corner, "but then again, in this house, I dont blame you..." She confided, pulling her shoes off before lifting her legs onto the bed.
"Oy! Another one's escaped!!!" Fred yelled from down the stairs, following his declaration by running about their room as if it were the middle of the afternoon. Ginny didn't budge, but kept on snoring softly. Hermione laughed to herself, rolling her eyes as she laid her head down on the pink pillow. Turning to face the wall on her side, she closed her eyes, enjoying the soft mattress beneath her.

Hermione joined Ginny down in the kitchen an hour later, unable to sleep any longer. Her best friend greeted her with a usual, warm smile.
"Morning. I hear you feel asleep down here last night," Ginny laughed, blowing the steam that rose from her coffee mug. Hermione sat down across the table, pulling the curls from her face sleepily, she nodded. "Waiting up for Ron?" Ginny never ceased to amaze Hermione with her bluntness.
"No," she lied, "I feel asleep reading."
Ginny, not believing a word, cocked her head as she studied Hermione for a moment. "Alright." She consented, allowing the topic to slide for the time being. Hermione shifted a bit in her chair.
"Where is everyone?" she asked, suddenly noticing the utter silence around them. Ginny smirked.
Before she took a sip of her coffee she replied, "Krum's here, they're all down playing Quidditch." She nearly sprayed her coffee across the table, as she watched Hermione's eye bug out a bit.
"What?!"
Ginny automatically read her thoughts, and waved her hand dismissively. "It's alright, Ron left a few minutes ago, said he was going to be out for the day." Hermione softened slightly, relaxing a bit.
"Is Harry still here?"
Ginny nodded. "I don't think I need to tell you where he is," she joked, pushing her chair back as she went to stand. Abandoning her cup of coffee, she waved towards the door. "Come on, lets go watch." Hermione nodded, following Ginny out the kitchen door and into the garden. The warm morning sun hit her as she stepped out onto the walk, stripping the chill from her arms.
Quietly they walked down the path, following the shouts and whoops of laughter coming the Weasley's pitch.
"He's at Hagrids." Ginny said, answering the question on her mind, completely out of the blue. Surprising Hermione with her randomness, yet puzzled by her accuracy.

While he sat in Hagrid's cabin, waiting as Hagrid busied about the small iron stove, Ron reacquainted himself with the musky smell he'd come to know so well. A small pot clunked onto the burner, he had a dying suspicion Hagrid was trying a new meat of some sort, a cook book lie burned in the corner. The title no longer readable.
"Ave' you eard' the news then?" Hagrid asked, not bother ing to turn around and look at Ron as he spoke. Ron groaned on the inside, he'd come to visit hagrid to escape the engagement.
"Mm-hm..." he mumbled, hoping it would come off obvious that he didn't want to discuss it. Hagrid nodded, messing with the thick stew, he stirred with a whittled spoon.
"A shame." He added, finaaly turning about to look at Ron. This caught ron by surprise, he brightened slightly to see someone was on his side.
"You really think so?!"
Hagrid's immense, shaggy eyebrow rose. "O' Course! Who else could teach Herbology by Professor Sprout?! Poor lass, had o bit of an injury wif' the Raved Russian Pine Root Snapper....she'll be off for months."
"Oh!" Ron exclaimed, realizing then that they were on two different subject entirely. His surprise was obvious.
"Wha' else you think Oi'd be talkin' about?!" he wondered, observing ron's expression. His forehead softened, and he nodded, "Ah...you thought Oi' meant 'Ermione...."
"So, I was the last to know...figures...I'm her best friend and she doesn't tell me until everyone in the bloody country knows!" he sighed, motioning dramatically across the room. Hagrid sighed, shaking his head. "Well, its true!"
"You might wanna read those let'ers she sent you again," Hagrid advised, turning back to the stove.

By the time Ron got home dinner had already been cleaned up, and everyone was lazing about in the garden. He noticed that Vicky hadn't made an attempt to speak to him once more as he walked up the stone path, towards the kitchen door. He sat with Hermione in the grass, leafing through the new edition of 'Quidditch: A Longer History'. Harry sat playing Wizard's chess with Ginny at the table, losing very badly.
"How's Hagrid?" Ginny asked, as she say Ron come up the path behind Harry. Who quickly turned to meet his friend.
"Anyway! If you'd said you were going, I'd have come along!" Harry added, though he seemed to be quite happy playing chess with ginny. Even if he was losing to another Weasley.
"Sorry mate," Ron murmered, scratching the back of his neck, trying to think of a way to excuse himself with drawing attention.
"I'm..uh...a bit beat, Hagrid had me help feed the new Blast- ended Shrewts..." he lied. Ginny's face grimaced in meer memory of the ugly beasts. Harry wasn't so easily fooled, but he nodded, leaving Ron to escape into the house.
Thankfully, Ron quickly crossed the kitchen, not forgetting to grab the plate left for him on his way. And headed up the stairs to his room. He closed the door behind him, setting the plate on his bedside table ontop of another old plate.
The words of advise Hagrid had given him earlier that afternoon were still in his head, ringing between his ears so he wouldn't forget.
Why should he reread the letters? Besides, why did hagrid assume he still even had the letters?
Ron, crossed his small room to his old school trunk, snapping open the lid with his wand. He sat down on his knees and began to leaf through the things that'd he'd thrown in over the past year. Absently, he ruffled past his dungbombs, canary creams, fake wands, famous wizard cards, and old mementos. He stopped, his hand coming across a wrapped stack of envelopes. Neat handwriting along the front...Hermione...he'd know her handwriting even if he was blind. He left the lid open, as he retreated back to his bed.
With his dinner on his lap, he opened the oldest dated letter and began to read.....

Dear Ron,
I hope things are going well down at the Burrow for you, Ginny says there are numerous explosions and escape attempts on the twin's behalf! It's been pretty quiet around here, I may be going on holiday soon. I'm really excited for it! I may get to see Harry play against Transylvania's team, it should be great!
I will be gone for about two weeks, but that doesn't mean stop writing, got it?
Your friend,

"Ron, what are you doing" Harry asked while stepping into the bright orange room, closing the door behind him. Ron jumped submissively, dropping the letters onto his lap. He jerked about to look at Harry.
"What?!" he breathed, quickly adjusting to try and act calm. Obviously, Harry wasn't the least bit fooled.
"What are you looking at?" Harry tried again, this time rephrasing his choice of words, eyeing the pile of letters. Ron quickly began to rewrap them, eagerly shoving the opened latter back into its 'envolepe'. Harry sat down beside him on the bed. "Are they from Hermione?"
Ron's shoulders slumped a bit, he dropped the pile back onto his lap, defeated. "Who else?" He smacked the loosely tied pack with the back of his hand. "I don't understand..."
Harry picked one of the letters up off the floor, examining it as he spun it to the broken seal. The letter he pulled out was, crisply folded and the writing all evenly spaced. It was from Hermione all right. Still writing as if it were a potions essay. "You kept all of these?" he wondered out loud, slowly reading the words to himself.
"Yeah...you can't make fun of me for it either, I know you kept ones from Ginny before," he battled defensively, making a grab for the unfolded page. Harry chuckled, pulling it out of his long arm's reach.
"Wasn't going to." Harry informed him, "But why are you looking back through them now of all times? You shouldn't do this to yourself."
Ron finally snatched back the page, "Do what?"
"You shouldn't beat yourself up or something," Harry explained.
"I wasn't beating myself up! I was just going through to see what Ginny was talking about." Ron mumbled, flipping the top half open to read.
"You mean all the hints?"
Ron nodded.
"You want help?"
"Yeah alright." He handed him half the pile. "Just...don't mention you saw these okay? Mione might get offended, you know girls and their privacy." He rolled his eyes.
Harry grinned, and nodded. Opening the first letter on top, and began to read through the frist few lines.

Harry flipped through his pile of letters, worn from all the opening and refolding Ron had done quite obviously in the past. He rubbed his eyelids, dumping the pile on the bed spread with his other hand. He was shaking his head sadly.
Ron watched him, looking puzzled. "Wha'?"
Harry looked over at his best friend, "you're going to tell me, you honestly saw nothing that would give you the impression of Krum's intentions?" He asked skeptically, indicating towards the spilt piles in between them. Ron shrugged, embarassed that he'd missed something even Harry could pick up on.
"Bloody hell," Harry moaned, picking up one of the letters and smacked it open. He read aloud for effect, "Dear Ron, gone off on a mini holiday, should be quite romantic, wish you were coming along....Dear Ron, I've been talking to Viktor lately, and he'd like to come meet my parents, what do you think?" He paused for a moment, eyeing Ron for any reactions. He yanked out two more letters, "Dear Ron, Meeting with parents went well, have you ever met them? Maybe you could come over for supper some time?....Dear Ron, I'm going to visit Viktor in Bulgaria, says he has a surprise planned..."
"Well, the one before that was a bit obvious..."Ron tried to lie, biting his lower lip, his eartips turning red. Harry held up the most recent envelope.
"Dear Ron, the trip to Bulgaria was absolutely lovely. Viktor showed me a fantastic time. I have something I'd like to tell you something next time I see you, hopefully soon. Love, Hermione[/I]"
"Well...now it makes sense!" Ron blurted, snatching up the letter.
"And you never onced asked her?..."
"Didn't know I was supposed to!"
"Too bad Ginny didn't rummage through your mail for you." Harry joked, grinning. Ron promptly shoved him off the bed.
"Ow!"
"You deserved that," Ron explained trying not to grin.
"Well, I can't help that you're thicker then Crabbe and Goyle." Harry replied, picking himself up off the floor. "Now what are you going to do?"
Ron paused, running a hand over his hair. "Well, kidnapping isn't an option...I can't charm her, she'd curse me before I even pulled out my wand."
"You know, I somehow think you won't have to use magic Ron."

Ron looked at harry for a moment, and snorted loudly, "right mate, suree..."
"No, really."
"Harry, the wedding is in three days, what am I supposed to do or say until then? Follow her around and keeping asking her not to marry 'im?"
Harry made a face at this suggestion, as if it hadn't been exactly what he was thinking. "Not exactly Ron...." He licked his lips, deep in thought. Ron tried to fall into the same depth of thinking, staring at the wood floor. Simaltaneously they looked at one another.
"Ginny?" Ron asked.
"Yeah." Harry agreed, pushing himself off the bed and towards the door.
****
"Kidnap her."
"What?! Have Fred and George finally cracked that head of yours?!" Ron asked in exasperation, looking at his sister in surprise.
"You aren't serious..."Harry assured her, though after taking a good look at her serious expression, he wasn't so sure. "You are serious?"
"Well, what exactly is the alternative here?" she asked them, "Unless you plan to stop the wedding I don't see how-"
"Tha's it!" Ron laughed.
"No! Not going to happen!" Harry cut in, before Ron could develop anymore of a plan. Ginny had a grin creeping onto her face. "No!" he repeated.
That was not exactly what he had planned, but it was as close as he was going to get with a Weasley involved.
"Why not?? Harry, I think it's the only way this is going to work," Ginny assumed, "Besides, its very romantic, well...more so then kidnapping her anyway."
Harry looked between the two feiry haired siblings, and suddenly realized, there really was no stopping a Weasley. Especially two of them. He sighed deeply in surrender.
"Alright...but I'll take no part in it!" he added quickly. Ron grinned, smacking him across the back.
"Course' you will, you'll be the one to smack Vicky upside the head with a frying pan when he isn't looking. During the ceremony of course," he joked.

"Ginny, tell him, he cannot do this," Harry instructed. Ginny looked at him for a moment, then at her overly excited brother. She slapped him on the shoulder, looking up at him.
"Should I go get the twins?"
"Right, might be a good idea,"he agreed. Harry's mouth dropped open, he sputtered a slight protest.
"Oy, you're either with us, or you aren't." Ron figured, grinning at Harry. Harry grabbed Ginny around the elbow, pulling her away from the door.
"You're going along with this?" he asked exasperatedly. She grinned, pulling from his grasp.
"I am a Weasley," she replied simply, shrugging.
"Right...fair point then," he agreed, as she popped out into the hall and closed the door behind her.
"Well?" Ron persisted, sticking his palm out to Harry.
"Okay..." he accepted, grabbing Ron's huge hand and shook it, "but if we live to regret this, I never liked the idea."
"sure, of course," Ron agreed.
A sudden *pop* exploded beside Ron, leaving two red headed figures standing beside him, their arms around his shoulders.
"Glad to see you've come to your senses my boy!" Fred cheered.
"Really smart on your part," George agreed whole heartedly, slipping from Ron and over to Harry. "And Harry has agreed to join us in 'Operation: One-legged Cupid'?"
"Knew we always liked you," Fred laughed, "Soo! What's your plan exactly?"
"Plan?" Ron echoed.
"You do have a plan, don't you?"
"We may be evil, but we do like organization."George informed them, Fred nodded.
"You need a plan, otherwise, things can get sticky-"
"And my wise brother isn't joking either-"
"-remember the bog in the library?"
"Aye. Completely on a whim!"
"Almost hung in filch's office for that one..."
"We've learned since then, be clean-"
"Be quick-"
"Efficient."
"And do not forget, creative."
Ron's eyebrows rose a bit, looking between his two brothers. From the looks of it, he wasn't expecting to be so overwhelmed.
"Tell you what," Fred offered, "George and I will set it up, for a fee of course-"
"rightly so-"
"And then you just follow our lead, we are professionals after all..."
"Exactly how hard is this going to be?!"Ron groaned, "IT's not exactly rocket science!"
"Of course not, but it is Hermione," Ginny reminded them, popping up beside George.
"Exactly. You need to de-wand her, make her comfortable, catch her off guard-"
"We don't like working with skittish subjects-"
"Of course not."
"You may even want to use a sleeping drought..."Fred brainstormed, he wagged his finger in the air, looking at the floor as if in pensieve thought.
"A powerful drought." Ginny snorted. "Wouldn't want her waking up when you try moving her somewhere private."
"You'll lose your bullocks mate," Harry reminded him.

Ron paled slightly at the thought of losing what was dearest to every young male wizard. Fred slapped him heartily on the back, trying not to chuckle too loudly. "It's alright little brother!" He assured him.
"Well, we think we'll have Hermione under control, but what about Krum?"
Ron colored slightly, mouthing something under his breath. Harry looked from his best friend to Ginny, "I think I'll be taking care of that," he offered, she nodded with great relief.
"No offense Ron, but we want Krum alive, not dead when this is all said and done." George joked, ron thought about this for a moment and then shrugged. He had enough to worry about with Hermione.
Suddenly there was a rap on the door, Hermione's spoke from behind the door frame, "Ron? Harry? Are you in there?"
"Um-yeah!" Ron yelled, looking at his brothers and sister.
"Just a minute!" Harry echoed, turning to tell the others to leave as the door began to open.
Hermione opened the door, popping her head inside. Ron looked around to see Harry and himself standing by themselves in his room once again. "Hello Harry." "Hello Ron."
Ron could feel her gaze set his eartips aflame. Hermione noticed this but said nothing.
"Something wrong?" Harry asked, knocking Hermione from her thoughts.
"Huh? No, of course not, I uh...your mum wants help downstairs for supper," she explained pointing down the staircase behind her.
"Be down in a minute," Harry said, she nodded, looking between the two of them with suspicion.
"What?!" Ron nearly squeaked in indignation, Harry rolled his eyes. He headed towards the door, leading Hermione out the door. Before Harry closed the door, he gave Ron a look of exasperation. Ron replied with a jerky shrug, as if to say, "I can’t stop these things from coming out of my mouth!"
