So I was sitting there, thinking to myself, about how we can energize this forum, and then a crazy volcano in my head exploded. We could have a write-off! Not a contest per se, as that usually involves winners and losers. This would be a write-off, purely for fun.

Here's the idea: We each write a ficlet or scene involving Harry Potter in a crossover from one of our favorite other genres. I already have an idea on the back burner for mine, but I can't tell you what it is.

So, sound like fun?:D:cool:

Yes, I do indeed like this idea...And we could have awards. Not stuff like "Best Fic", but "Funniest Line" and "Most Realistic Dialogue" and stuff like that.

Yay, I got someone interested!:D:clap:

I'm not too sure about awards; I'll continue to think about it but for now it might be better if we don't have them.

Perhaps a little more definition would be good too: let's have this challenge open for the month of September, and a length of at least 500 words (summaries don't count). And if it's more than a couple thousand words, it might be better in its own thread.

There. Now have I persuaded anyone else with my remarkably bad persuasive skills?;):D

Heh, sounds like a fun idea! I'm not sure if I'd be any good at it, but I'll certainly at least think about it. By placing "Harry Potter" in another genre, does this mean that the idea is to actually use the character of Harry in another scenario or is it very broad in that any characters and/or ideas may be canvassed from the HP books and be used?

Could be fun, 'specially if you can get a few more people interested! :)

I think we'll go with the broad interpretation. That is, either or. I have to decide whether to put the HP chars. in this other world I'm thinking of, or bring those chars. into HP world. Hmm....

And don't worry about being good, Xaz, just write! The more you write, the easier it gets. (or the more convoluted your plots become until they stop in literary/logical deadlock. looks at the number of bogged-down manuscripts in her files...)

Sounds like fun...I'm so busy though that I don't know when I'd have time to do it! :( I haven't written up my next post for SFSB yet and it's been almost 2 months! :jawdrop: (and my god are we ffamous for crossovers! Well, in our own minds! ;) )

But I might be here more often and get to read them! :) How's that sound?

Well, I'm halfway done with mine already! It's taken a rather unexpected turn but I'm having fun writing it, which is what matters.:D

Maybe I'll put a link in my sig to drum up interest.;)

Okay, starting thread for my submission...part 1!:D

So, uh, anyone else planning anything? September's nearly up now. I just want to know because I'd like to start another challenge in October, but if people want to still do this one I'll keep it open.:)

I'd like to give it a shot lith, but I'm a bit stressed out with university at the moment so there's no chance I'd get anything done by the end of this month. Having said that though, there's no guarantee I'd have it done by the end of October either, alas! :(

I think you should try your next challenge: might be able to drum up a bit more support with a new competition, other people might find it more to their liking than the first, who knows? :)

Well, I'll just keep it unofficially open then.;) I'll try to put up this month's challenge tomorrow, provided I can find the paper I scribbled my ideas on...

Anyone interested in doing anything for Halloween?
