As in the LOTR trilogy, many actors got a big boost to their careers because of their skill and exposure in the films. A few seem to have dropped off, but many keep working. Once the HP films are done, it will be interesting to see whose careers can transcend the "childhood" stardom, and whether they can take on roles that are more mainstream.

I certainly see Daniel Radcliffe doing more, as he has already.
Rupert Grint I think will struggle. He's basically a comic sidekick.
Emma Watson is certainly pretty enough to do other roles; I still question her one-note acting, but she has improved somewhat. Her character really comes into her own in HP7, so it will be interesting to see how she handles that.

The older actors are mostly established, but people also mentioned:

Matthew Lewis (Neville)
Tom Felton (Draco)
James and Oliver Phelps (as F & G)
Evanna Lynch (Luna)
Bonnie Wright (Ginny)

Interesting thoughts. The problem is that the characters don't really develop that much through the books. Grint plays a comic sidekick because I don't think he has ever tried to do anything else. That said, there is a good line in roles for a comic sidekick, which can last long after the 'pretty boy lead' time slot has passed.

I reckon Watson has it in her to do a lot more, but Hermione is a bit of a one-note role. Will be curious to see how she deals with future challenges, but I think there's a good actress in there.

I'm prejudiced, but I think that if Matthew Lewis (a) gets his teeth fixed and (b) ever gets to act without a fat suit, he could be a good actor. Obviously the crooked teeth don't affect his acting, but they might affect the roles he is offered. I'd like to see him in a role that lets him stretch a bit.

Would love to see the Phelps brothers go on to greater things. They are both very personable - again, don't know what kind of opportunities the future will bring them, or indeed if they both or separately want to continue acting.

Not convinced about Bonnie Wright, but we haven't seen much of her have we? I'm looking forward to the way she gets to stretch a bit more in HBP.

My DH and self are off to see the movie on Friday as well. Re-reader's comments, while sketchy ;) are encouraging.
