This looks like a pretty honest assessment.
Sounds like what I expected to hear about the focus of the film.

Actually I find it extremely dull when writers choose to focus on 'how grown up everyone is' Yes, they were young once, imagine that!

The major reviewers all seem to like it on Rotten Tomatoes, so that also encouraging.

Interesting. Depends who you listen to, of course. I heard, by chance, a Radio 4 review that was pretty scathing. I am hoping the dude just *seriously* didn't get it.
Am looking forward to this... :)

Eh, there's always a few in the crowd that will never get it. I like the review...especially his mention of the first time that we get to meet Slughorn. I loved that scene in the book and can't wait to see it portrayed on screen. :)

Here's a link to a very positive MSN review, with links at the bottom to other positive reviews. I'm feeling good about this one. :)

Well, if my vote counts, I quite enjoyed it! :) Despite the rather rude entire family that just would not STFU throughout the ENTIRE movie!. The only time they shut up was when Dumbledore fell. That lasted all of maybe 1 minute
I'm not going to spoiler hide this, because its all direct from the book, so if you haven't read the book, phooey on you :p
Ron was quite funny while under the love potion spell. And Harry was Harry magnified while under the felix felisis (sp) liquid luck spell. Both were  :rotfl: scenes very well done.
Luna was brilliant, as usual. She just doesn't seem to notice or care what people think of her, and I love that about her :D
Lovestruck Hermione was a bit different than the know-it-all Hermione we're used to. We get to see more of her muggle side I suppose, no magic, just teen aged crushing.
I will agree with the Vatican on that one at least. The teen "love" was well handled IMO, and toned down quite significantly from the book, which I thought rather droned on to excess. (I've alwasy suspected JKR handed the manuscript over to her daughter and said "I'm too busy to finish this one darling, would you mind?").
They could have done a bit more with Draco, to understand more how sick he was getting from plotting what he had to do. All we really get is the Room of Requirement and he looks more and more gaunt each time we see him. But I suppose you can only fit so much in.
I will like to see it again, mostly because the cinema was packed, and we arrived a bit too late and ended up in the second row, right under the screen basically. Maybe in a couple of weeks, after the hype has died down some.
