Ah, yes, my favorite wacko lady! :D The one who claims Harry Potter was stolen from her stupid books that no one has read.

Poor thing was shocked that she lost her lawsuit. Not only that, but she now has to pay a fine!

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge has rejected a writer’s claims that she was plagiarized by “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling and in turn fined her $50,000, saying she “perpetuated a fraud.”

U.S. District Judge Allen G. Schwartz found only minimal similarities between the multimillion-selling fantasy series and books by Pennsylvania-based children’s author Nancy Stouffer.

Stouffer has said she wrote several books in the 1980s, including “The Legend of Rah and the Muggles,” and a series of “Larry Potter” stories. “Rah and the Muggles” and some “Larry Potter” books were released last year by Thurman House, a Baltimore-based company that has since gone out of business. Sales were poor and the major superstore chains, Barnes & Noble and Borders, declined to stock them, citing inferior quality.

In Rowling’s books, “Muggles” is the word wizards use for non-magical humans. In Stouffer’s world, Muggles are bald, mutated nuclear holocaust survivors whose dark and polluted land becomes a happy place after they end up caring for orphaned twin boys.

Schwartz also questioned whether she created the “Larry Potter” character before Rowling’s series debuted. A title page and other materials supposedly dating back to the 1980s used technology not in existence at the time, he ruled.

In addition, Schwartz found that Stouffer had produced invoices for sales that never took place and submitted an advertisement from the 1980s that was later altered to include the word “Muggles.”

Funny stuff!

And to refresh your memory, here's my favorite bit from that crazy woman's Web site: Similarities. (http://www.realmuggles.com/news/compare.html)
Here are some of my favorites:
(HP -- Crazy lady)
mythical place -- mythical place
muggles rejoicing "happy, happy day" -- muggles rejoicing "oh what a wonderful day"
four houses -- five colonies
questions asked before others already there -- questions asked before others already there
character dressed in tights -- characters in tights
the book of monsters -- the ancient book of tales

Ah, yes. I see all the similarities! :rotfl:

What would have happened if she had lost? Would she have to change the books?

Did anyone see the World Exclusive interview with Rowling on Newsround a few hours ago?

Well I did, and Lizo was asking her if she had finished Book Five, she said she mroe or less has, it has a beginnnig middle and end, but she's putting it into perfection.

And good news is

IT'S ALMOST AS BIG AS GoF! :D

Ah, so now all Rowling's lawyers have to worry about is the Chinese HP ripoff (http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/tv_film/newsid_2092000/2092610.stm) and the new Russian wannabe, "Tanya Grotter" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/uk/newsid_2262000/2262284.stm) (At least this Yemetz guy signed his own name to it, but check out that cover photo - definitely another HP knockoff here...)

As far as I can tell, the "similarities" fall into three categories:

* So broad I can't believe this woman actually thinks she did it first:
mythical place - mythical place (she'd better sue Tolkien next)
muggle families - muggle families

* Things that aren't actually similar at all:
the book of monsters - the ancient book of tales (unless it's that it's a book)
four houses - five colonies

* What book was she reading? These "similarities" aren't even in Harry Potter:
questions asked before others already there - questions asked before others already there ( Huh?)
muggles rejoicing "happy, happy day" - muggles rejoicing "oh what a wonderful day" (oh, the famous rejoicing scene  )

Man, this stuff cracks me up!

This reminds me of a book I once wrote called:-

"Parry Hotter and the man who thinks alot about a small hard object"

In it our hero Parry starts at a school called "Sproghorts" where he learns to be a warlock. Along the way he makes freinds with "Herarmy Ranger" and "Jon Teasley". Together they fight against the evil and scary "Mouldywart" inbetween lessons including "Motions class" with "Leverus Scrape".

Does anybody think I have a case?

LOL! That brought tears to my eyes! That woman could sue the whole fantasy world with that list!

KEEPER OF THE KEYS= KEEPER OF DREAMS,
KEEPER OF THE GARDENS,
KEEPER OF THE MILLS,
KEEPER OF THE CHILDREN,
KEEPER OF THE FOOD,
KEEPER OF THE LIGHT Well, she certainly has her bases covered, doesn't she? She's in the wrong line of work. Comedy is definitely her calling!:D

Is this some kind of a sick joke... what a whiner that woman is! I read her statement... I'm glad it was on paper and not in audio... I could almost hear her whining!! Her claims are so weak... I mean, this woman could sue any fantasy author in the business!! How can you make a comparison like "HERBS AND FUNGI" and "BORDONIAN MOSS"??? Hello... maybe you should sue the writers of high school Biology books too. Here's another fav: "SEATS IN GREAT HALL" and "SEATS IN GREAT HALL"... ummm a great hall is usually used for large like receptions, right? Where's she want the students of Hogwarts to sit... on the floor? This one is the best though.. the comparison of both having "QUILL PENS AND PARCHMENT". What??? They are writing utensils!! Get a new job lady...

C'mon StarGazr, you must admit that "seats in great hall" is a highly original idea! ;)

My favorite is that both books have "questions asked before others already there." :rotfl: What on earth is that supposed to mean!?!?!?!

What about "Fleet of boats/ Fleet of boats"? Or "Dark secret path/ Dark secret path"? Or the best ripoff of all time "Flagstone floors/ Checkerboard stone floor"?

:rotfl:

I can't imagine why Ms. Stouffer didn't win her lawsuit. What were the judges thinking?:trout:
