Howdy all, great news!

Yes, I stole the title of the thread from one of the UK newspapers.

Yes, JKR has completed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and it may even be available to purchase before Christmas.

And why has it taken her so long? Well, amongst other things, the lady is 3 months pregnant! (for those who don't know, the first 3 months of pregnancy can be miserable, lots of morning sickness and general icks) Good for her, say I! :D

Congratulations, Ms. Rowling, may your kiddo grow well and be healthy and happy when it finally gets here!

And as for us - TRA LA! A new Harry Potter before Christmas! (well, maybe by then - but SOON!)

YIPPEE!!

Well good news all round. OoTP before Christmas! I won't get my hopes up too high yet, though.

And congratulations to JKR and her husband.

:jawdrop: (That's a jaw dropping in a positive way. I'm shocked!) Before Christmas? :D (I had my money on Nov. 2003. I guess I'll lose in the pool, then. Rats! ;))

So Lanen, any chance of your book coming out before Christmas? :) ;)

I did know about the pregnancy thing. (Well, since yesterday, when it was announced.)

I knew she was busy with that Doctor! I just knew it! Been saynig ti since she got married! It's the reason. That Scottish air, can get to some people ;)

It's sweet! :D I found out lastnight, I was flicking thorugh the channels, and went past BBC2 and Newsnight was finishing, and they showed The Sun newspaper (tacky tabloid) and it said "POTTER OF LITTLE FEET!"

WOW! She's going to have a baby. I am going to squeezy my brother now.

I already feel sorry for the baby though :( JKR is about as famous as the Beckhams, and she'll be rushed in to Portland Hospital in Chelsea like all the other celebrities and rich people, and it won't be seconds before the British press are outside the front waiting for some announcment "IS IT A BOY" if yes... "IS HE CALLED HARRY?!"

The poor little bambino will be in the media spotlight, to see if he looks liek his father, Harry Clone, that sort of thing :( Very sad really. I mean look at poor Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham, more coverage then the royal Princes I say!

Wow! This is so exciting. How neat that she's pregnant!

And how SPECTACULAR that book 5 may be coming so soon!! :D  :D

Aww, now I feel bad for griping about wanting a new book. She's got so much else on her mind now, I'm sure. And if OotP comes that soon, great. If not, well, babies can be awfully time consuming...

Hiya gang -

Well, conflicting reports. The Sun (a tabloid newspaper) has the pregnancy report, as did the far more respectable Today radio news programme.

However - the Sun says there is no discernible deadline for OotP, while the newsreader on the Today program said clearly that she didn't have writer's block, in fact she'd finished it and it might even be out before Christmas!

Who to believe? Don't give up your ticket on the pool, Kristin, you're still as likely to be right as any of us.

Phooey. Ah well, as least the news about the babby is right.

Exit Lanen, blushing...

That's so awesome! :D

I still say March 2003 or July 2003.

I'm not buying the Christmas thing.

:rotfl: but it's in sight!

I find it a bit odd that the Harry Potter books have made me so cynical. :o

All these false reports. Couldn't the publishers make some kind of official statement? Even if it's just, "We don't know when it will be out." But they let the rumors fly about and don't seem to care that people are getting disappointed!

Edit: I just checked the Scholastic Web site. It says "Coming soon: Goblet of Fire in paperback!" Didn't GoF come out in paperback in July?! Way to go, Scholastic!

According to the imdb article that says she's pregnant, she's had writer's block. D'you suppose that's the reason why it's taken forever and a decade for us to get Order of Pheonix?

She is only meant to be three months pregnant. She's the same age as my mother and my mum had by baby brother 15 months ago... So why would it be disclosed so early on in the pregnancy. Having a baby in your late-thirties can cause miscarriages :( . wazsn't told about my mum's pregancy until she was about 5 months when a miscarriage was unlikely. My mums till had a miscarraige though... :( They were twins.

Don't trust the Sun, they're a sleazy newspaper no one should buy. We haven't actually heard anything from her or the publishers. The Sun are sceptical about everone. and the news things on ceefax still has "belived to be pregnant..."

I don't belive the Christmas thing,n ot one bit  They said that last year! and she only said on Newsround on Thursday she hadn't finished it, and that went to press the same day as her pregnancy!

Damn tabloids.

Well, I just told my mum who's sat in the armchair watching Casualty that JK Rowling is pregnant. Her response was 'well she'll never get those books finished now'.

According to my twice experienced mother your brain goes to mush after you've given birth.

But on the other hand, at least our prospects of getting book five are on the up and out!

It would be absolutely awful if she had a miscarriage. And I can see where you're coming from, if she thought there was a risk she would be wary of disclosing any information. So maybe it's all a blown out of proportion rumour.

Still, I hope not.

Yeah me too. Sorry! It totally makes sense now.

I don't believe in the christmas thing, especially since hearing the Newsround report the other day.

I think we can expect huge delays in the books now, and I don't blame her. If I were her, I think my child would proritise over my books.

Congrats JK and her husband!

Folks -

Read today, on the online service of ITV (a UK TV channel) that Bloomsbury is expecting to receive the MS of OotP by about Christmas, with a release date of about next June.

Any advance on this one?

:D

ITV? Hang on, I'm going to check Teletext to see if it's on there!

Nope, cant find anything. Kate Moss has given birth to a girl! That's it... :(

I don't know, actually. Both March and July sounded like good months.. plus GoF (and PoA?) was released in July..

And if they keep with the late May release of TSS and release CoS late May, early June, we don't want book sales cutting into our VHS/DVD sales, now do we? :D
